The healer that passed through told Niylah that she would not be giving birth for at least another two weeks... Of course, she knew this—up until this morning. You could never plan these things. After a few particularly violent kicks, Bellamy offered to stay with her, just in case. She had insisted that she was fine... Cael was just active. So, reluctantly Bellamy went to work—tending to the inn while Niylah struggled to get any rest at all. She had never given birth before, and she didn’t have a mother to tell her what to expect, so when the kicks turned into twists and cramps that were so crippling she couldn’t stay upright she was caught off guard. It was too soon... Something was wrong—it had to be something wrong.
She cried out as another contraction hit, much closer than the last. It made her fall to her knees heavily, taking the night side table with her—the sound was enough to silence the room below her. Her labored breaths came hard as she curled around herself tightly—her vision blurring at the edges... was it normal for it to hurt this much? Shaking, she crawled towards the bed for something to lean against—knowing that the curled up position she was in would probably only make it worse... Instead though she worried more. The healer wasn’t here. He wasn’t due back for another week so who would help her? Her mother had a healer when she gave birth... She knew him from the trading post.
Another cramp made her yelp in pain and bite down hard on her lip to suppress it. They were minutes apart now. Her breathing was sped and her skin was so hot she felt like she was on fire... She shouldn’t have let Bellamy leave... She should have listened to him but she assumed that he was overreacting. He always worried—so it wasn’t that farfetched, but she sent him away.

Niylah smiled and leaned on the fence, watching Clarke interact with the goats as she spoke. She was so... gentle. It was no wonder they led such peaceful existences. Niylah had Clarke to thank for everything... for this, for the serenity of this lifestyle compared to her life at the trading post. Even now, with Trikru coming through often to trade it was still a much less hostile experience. Some mistook being gentle for being weak—but Niylah knew that Clarke was probably stronger than most who had that very belief, even as she watched her pet the two new goats as they nickered and stomped.
“Well, that almost makes you the perfect housewife,” Niylah teased her gently before untying the ropes she’d slung around the goats. She hung them on the fence and reached out her hand for Clarke to take so they could go inside. “I’m surprised you haven’t gotten bored. Maybe next time I go to Polis... I could take you with me.” She smiled at Clarke when she spoke but she knew that they avoided travel for a very good reason. It had been so long, though... Niylah wanted to show Clarke more than these woods.

“Gena,” Niylah repeated as she knelt down so she could assess the damage. Her eyes were narrowed with focus, trying to find where the blood was coming from. “—Gena I’m going to help you, but you have to do everything that I say, alright?” if her father came home to an injured sky person she knew that he would kill her, or sell her off to somebody. She loved her father, truly, but losing his wife destroyed him and Niylah wouldn’t let this girl suffer because of it. Carefully she guided Gena to her bed where she sat her down to look over the cuts on her arms and legs. She’d been tortured... that was the only way she could describe the marks. Burned as well. Niylah drew a long breath before grabbing some bandages and a bowl of water.
“I need you to practice something, okay?” she was kneeling, cutting fabric away so that she could get to the deep gashes on her legs. She suspected that her ankle was broken as well. “Kom Trikru—“ she looked up at her, voice low. “Ai laik Gena kom Trikru; it means, I am Gena of the tree people.” She wiped some of the blood away from her calve to look at the deep cut. It wasn’t fatal—on to the next one. “My father can’t know that you are Skaikru—he will kill you, but if you leave you won’t get far. If you want to live, you need to practice that sentence exactly how I say it.” She would fix the woman’s hair and get her into some clothes... “Ai laik Gena kom Trikru,” she said again, slower. There was nothing that she could do but this; disguise her and give her a place to rest.

She hushed him and bit his lower lip as he teased, knowing that it was more than a flirtation. She knew how he felt about it... But that was over now. A fact that was made clear by the sight of him cuffed to the headboard. She hummed with pleasure as he kissed her shoulder before pushing herself up straight. Slowly she slipped her shirt up and over her head while her hips moved slowly against him. Everything was slow—teasing him as she straddled his hips to keep him pinned down. “We’ll get to use these for many things I’m sure,” she murmured as she trailed her fingers down between her breasts and towards her belt. She watched him; eyes on his expression—desperate to see him lust for her. Those dark eyes were fiery and she loved watching the ignite.
“It’s just nice that we can take our time,” she purred as she took off her belt and set it aside before leaning in again to kiss him again as she shifted her pants down her legs, chest pressed against his. “I have to say I do like you from this angle,” she grinned down at him and trailed her hands down his chest and along his hips where she was quick to tug his pants down as well, only she shifted with them; kissing along his hip and nipping the skin seductively as she looked up at him. “You’re always so distracting.”

Blood was pounding through her veins as the man stopped and looked them over. She kept her head down and looked at his feet, praying silently to some kind of deity to step in. Maybe he needed to talk to Bellamy... Her eyes flickered then to the long sticks the guards held next to their guns... She knew what those were—they would shock whoever they hit. She didn’t know how to use them... but she knew what they did. Take off your hat. He told her. She should have done something to her hair. Taken out the braids—taken out the beads and the embellishments she’d grown fond of. “Sir I’m needed in medical—“ she tried. She spoke some of the best English in that moment, but she brought her eyes up to look at him and just knew that he saw through the disguise.
Fight or flight kicked in the moment she saw his expression—and there was nowhere to run. In the same moment she looked up, she grabbed the extended taser on the nearest guards hip. It had a trigger which she pulled and thank god it worked. She shocked the guard in the knee and held it up threateningly at the man who had told her to take the hat off. In the commotion her wild disarray of hair came loose... She held the ignited electricity stiffly and stared at him with wide eyes before taking a few steps back. Her throat was dry and she was shaking—there weren’t a lot of options. “Please just keep walking,” she said breathlessly, struggling to keep both the commander and the guard away.

There was no warning as the fog rolled in, but Niylah had learned the signs. The birds would screech in the distance and that meant she had a minute to go out to the stables and lock them down before coming back inside and shutting all the windows and doors tightly enough so that no poison gasses leaked through the cracks. It was easier when she wasn’t alone, but her mother still had not come back from her trip to a nearby village. She was tense as she stuffed cloth into every crack in the windows and shut every door. Her little trading post would stand against the fog just as it always had, but just in case she had her blanket ready to hide underneath until the screeching stopped... Sometimes it lasted minutes, other times it lasted hours... especially when a scout got too close to the mountain.
She quickly moved to her room and pulled her cloth sheet over her head; hiding beneath it like a child—just as she always had, but this time the front door opened. “Hod op!!” she yelled from the room as she shoved herself up. She could hear the fog in the trees—she pulled herself from her room so that she could close the door and latch it, but as she rounded the corner she froze in place with wide eyes. The man was holding a gun. A mountain man’s weapon, and his clothes were... not of her kind. Her face paled as she grabbed a nearby axe to defend herself—but she couldn’t help noticing the acid burns from the fog. “Yu laik nu mounin hir,” she growled threateningly—even as the fog blew against her home. She was stuck in the pen with a wolf—and didn’t know whether to help or... to kill the damn thing.

Bellamy probably didn’t notice when Niylah took his cuffs. Her father hadn’t raised her to be as honest as she was, so slipping them off his belt was easy when he didn’t expect it—and with everything going on he certainly did not expect it. They were half way to Polis and not quite out of danger, so there was a little guilt on Niylah’s conscience that she was even thinking about all the sexual endeavors they could have... But then one of her trading partners offered his home as a place to rest while he left for a hunt... and they had a moment to breathe... Truth be told she hadn’t even thought of the cuffs since she took them, but while they got ready to rest for the night Niylah was quickly enthralled by the view of Bellamy’s bare back in the light of the fire. What a silly thing to grab her attention so quickly.
As she packed their bag for the next day she couldn’t help watching him with a primal lust in her eyes. Her head was tilted to the side while she took in every inch of skin she could before a small and mischievous grin pulled at the corners of her lips. Quietly her hand moved to the bottom of the bag where the metal cuffs were hidden. She slipped them into the back of her belt and approached Bellamy slowly at first, as though she were stalking him. She hummed softly as she moved behind him to kiss and nip along his shoulder, but the moment was very short—as she didn’t want to give him a chance to react.
They were already close to the bed, so the moment he was turned around enough she pushed him against it with all she had—and though she was not a fighter, she was still Trikru. If she wanted to she could be very strong. Especially when he wasn’t prepared for it. She straddled him with her knees on either side of his hips and kissed him hungrily with a soft and feral growl when she caught his lips in hers. In the same movement, she moved her hands to his wrists and moved them up to pin them above his head while she kissed him... The sturdy headboard was decorative, with plenty of thick bars to cuff him to. “Yu laik ain,” she purred—claiming his lips once again hungrily as she clasped the cuff around his wrist. Her lips wandered along his shoulder as she worked to keep him pinned as she looped the metal cuffs around the headboard so she could cuff is right wrist as well. “I knew I’d find a use for these...”

“I keep thinking that,” she said with a small grin, glad he answered so calmly. It was strange to feel so many things at once. He eased insecurities without even trying to... Or maybe it was the position. Looking up at his bare chest as he braced himself above her was an exceptional distraction from any of her anxieties. Her eyes were glued on his, but that didn’t mean she didn’t see him... all of him—right there for her, asking her how she felt. She knew what that meant, and it seemed their thoughts were aligned. Niylah smirked and trailed her fingers over his shoulder, letting them trace along his chest—moving over every muscle as she kissed his jaw.
“I feel... like we should make tonight that much better than it already is.” She smirked a little as her fingers trailed down and along his hips. She arched against him and kissed his jaw, voice husky with desire. “Ai gaf yu in,” I want you... she murmured before nipping his ear and letting her fingers hook into the waist of his pants. Her lips trailed along his neck where she nipped affectionately at a particularly stubborn love bite she’d left the night before. “Ai hod yu in..” I love you...
She chuckled a little as she shifted under him, trying not to laugh when she thought of the growing bump between them and the creativity it had to inspire. “I... love that you still want me like this,” she teased gently as she pushed herself up to kiss him hungrily. “Just as much as you did before...”

“Okay... alright,” Niylah said softly as she started to walk with him. She kept her head down and looked over the metal floors as they made their way down the hall. It was completely empty, which of course she was thankful for. He picked a good time to go... but she was still scared he wasn’t going to go with her. She stuck close to him and listened to every little sound as they walked. The silence was almost deafening—but it didn’t last long. Near the end of the hall, a door opened—loudly. The presence that left was that of those with authority and Niylah damn near froze solid. They were caught. There were guards... two of them—no three? Two guards flanking one man, but she didn’t have enough time to look. She pulled her hat down over her face and took Bellamy’s hand instinctively as if he had the ability to disappear with her.
She was dressed in their clothing—hiding under the material like a shield but she sensed their strides slowing. Jok—she thought silently as she gripped Bellamy’s hand and turned her head to avoid the eyes of those who passed. Her heart was slamming against her chest so hard she couldn’t even hear their steps behind the pulse in her ears. But they did slow—because this wasn’t just a collection of guards. It was their damned leader.

Niylah smiled, flashing her teeth playfully when Clarke called her beautiful. Funny how a word could make your heart flutter. As she came down from the house, Niylah caught her in an embrace with her arm looped around her so that she could pull her in close with her back against Niylah’s chest. Lightly, she kissed her shoulder and hugged her before turning them so she could see the new little additions. “Two goats from Kirava. I haven’t named them yet, but they already make milk which we can sell—she wanted to trade them for our older bull. It seemed a fair trade,” she kissed Clarke’s cheek before letting her go so that she could look at the young goats more closely as Niylah opened the paddock gate.
The land they claimed was beautiful—especially at this later time of day. Even the herb garden seemed to prosper more here by their house on the hill than it could in any Trikru village. It was a piece of heaven, especially with Clarke here. Niylah was still watching her with a grin. Even with the scarf hiding her hair, she was still quite possibly the prettiest woman she had ever laid her eyes on. “Have you been busy?” she asked playfully as she leaned on the fence to watch her. “I guess I was gone a while...”

Niylah was paying attention through the kisses, even as Bellamy pulled her shirt over her head and kissed along her collarbone. Her cheeks ached from smiling so damn much, but even as he kissed a trail up her neck and to her jaw she couldn’t stop grinning... Did he know how perfect this moment was? There was nothing that could take this away. Knowing that they were safe and happy was so much; so important... “Seraphina...” she mused softly as her fingers curled into his hair. “It’s angelic,” she murmured as she kissed his jaw before falling back against the bed to look up at him, hovering above her. She caught her lower lip in her teeth to try to keep her grin to herself, but it didn’t work.
“Cael for a boy, Seraphina for a girl,” she said after a moment—distracted by his wandering lips. “I can’t... believe it’s so close,” her voice trailed off as a whisper, hitched with emotion or even excitement as Bellamy’s lips trailed over her shoulder. She was terrified, but it wasn’t a bad feeling. “I like those names...” She moved both of her hands to cup his jaw and kiss him deeply and slowly, as though she was savouring the moment for just a little longer. If anyone tried to take this from them... well. No. The thought made her arms loop around Bellamy’s neck to keep him there.
“This... is perfect,” she breathed as she pulled him in some to kiss along his neck. Her voice was soft while her fingers played with his hair lightly and her lips wandered his tanned skin. “I don’t know how this could get any better...” It was true they had been through too much to get here, so this moment of perfection seemed like it would be unattainable. She knew she couldn’t think like that, but she was as emotional as one would expect and scared that everything would be torn out from under them. Then... there was the half naked man above her distracting her with his wandering lips. So many conflicting emotions it was hard to figure out exactly what she was feeling.

He was distracting her train of thought with his kisses along her neck and her shoulder... Having all this time together never got boring; they relived the night they met again and again without the harsh awakenings or pain... They could just be together and it seemed like all the flaws melted away. She wasn’t ignorant... but she also wasn’t about to waste moments of peace by worrying about what could happen. “I am pretty sure that it’s a boy,” she said softly, drawing in a shaky breath as his kisses sent tingles along her skin. “—if it’s a girl...” she wasn’t sure. The first thought that came into her head was a sad one, just as it was a good one. Naming it after her mother seemed... well. She dismissed the thought because as nice of an idea as it was it also brought up all kinds of pain she hadn’t faced.
“I’m not sure,” she chuckled and leaned into him more so she could kiss his chest. Slowly she pulled the thin material of his shirt up and over his head so that she could curl up against his warm skin. “Harmony is a pretty name for a sky girl,” she said lightly as she traced patterns on his chest. “I’m not sure what you’d think about naming it after our parents...” she laughed lightly and tilted her head. “If it’s a boy... well, I like Cael, but I’m not too attached. I could be persuaded.” She teased gently as she kissed along Bellamy’s shoulder tenderly. “What names have you thought of, hmm?”

Bellamy saw it, which made her grin, even as he kissed her. Niylah couldn’t remember the last time that she had smiled so much, but the feeling of Bellamy’s lips against hers and his hand resting right where she felt their child somehow made this moment... perfect. She would never forget it... She kissed him back deeply and cupped his face after reluctantly taking a hand away from her belly. “Yes,” she chuckled a little before taking Bellamy’s wrist and moving it so that he could feel the movement. “They are getting too big for their little home,” she giggled and nuzzled Bellamy’s neck affectionately. “I think they’re getting ready... Getting stronger.” She let out a soft sigh and curled up against Bellamy so that she could feel him against her. Truthfully she would be lost without this man—and even Octavia...
“I can’t wait to hold him,” she murmured softly. True, they did not know the gender of the baby. Such a thing wasn’t possible, but she liked to think of it as a little boy with Bellamy’s curls. “We should think of a name... Really think of one; when we have him... It might be hard to think of one.” She chuckled and kissed Bellamy again, slowly and softly to just savor this moment. One of many... Her arm moved to give him space to lay with her, even as the little baby moved inside her. They were so active... It made her wonder what they’d be like in her arms...
