Sure. He could help her get the hell out of there. But she knew that wasn't going to happen and if she wanted to eventually see if he would help her, she had to come at this from a different angle. Faye shook her head at his question. "I was just looking around," she explained. See? She wasn't being overly suspicious. She could be curious like the other delinquents, even if she technically wasn't a delinquent. She wasn't sure if being a little older than the rest made the mountain men overly cautious of her. Well, at least the Wallace's didn't seem overly trusting of her. They knew how close she was to Clarke and they knew Clarke had successfully escaped. If they were smart enough, which seemed like they were, then they knew that Faye was itching to get out just as much as her blonde counterpart.
"You look a little young to be a teacher," she mused, walking into his classroom, her eyes glancing around the room. "What do you teach?" Faye asked. Her eyes looked at the walls and saw more drawings done by little kids. There were some other pictures, likely having to do with what they were learning about. Faye didn't know how they handled the whole school thing down here. On the Ark, their classes were separated by subject. They could also just be one large class where one teacher covered all of the subjects, but that's not what they had on the Ark. "You seem like you have questions about my people," Faye said lightly. She couldn't help a small smile that played on her lips. "You can ask me anything, if you'd like," Faye offered. "If I can ask you some things in return." And there was the catch. Faye wasn't going to ask things about security, but just questions she had in general. Questions that others might not want to answer.

His shrug only caused her to playfully roll her eyes. Of course now that she made a good point, he wasn't willing to argue. Because that's what Faye had done; made a good point. It wasn't fair for him to expect things of her that she couldn't expect of him. But hopefully neither of them would have to deal with a situation like that for a very long time.
She spoke the words without thinking much about them, about the possible repercussions it could have on their relationship. She felt him freeze next to her and a wave of fear washed over her body. They had never talked about having kids before. They had been too busy simply enjoying their relationship. Faye had never really thought about kids. She wasn't desperate to be a mother but she also didn't hate the idea of having kids. She was indifferent. At least, until she met Alex and found out she was pregnant. Faye had been scheduled to get her birth control implant removed within the next year, but apparently it had stopped doing its job sooner than that. "Yes," she replied.
Faye turned over onto her side, her eyes searching his face, trying to get a better read on what he thought. "Just about six weeks," she explained. "But the doctor told me there's a high chance of miscarriage in the first few weeks so I didn't say anything." She didn't want to get his hopes up in case it was something he wanted. And on top of that, she had been far too preoccupied with trying to get his medicine to save his life. Truth be told, he was more important to her at the time. If she lost the baby because of her journey, then she knew they could try again when they were ready. But she would never be able to replace Alex.

She frowned at his comment. Faye didn’t want Alex to base his life around her. If something happened to her, she wanted to know that he wouldn’t self-destruct. But she couldn’t say his comment didn’t make her heart swell with love. She was glad that she made his life better and that she helped him get up in the morning, but that wasn’t what she wanted for his life. She wanted him to want to live. Faye worried about him. She worried that something like this would happen again and this time, she wouldn’t make it back in time to save him. Faye didn’t want to come home knowing that Alex had run himself into the ground over not having her around. It broke her heart to think about how she was the only hope he had in this world.
Faye shook her head, not accepting his answer. “Not good enough,” she said, a frown present on her face. “I’m glad I give you hope.” She reached out and put her hand on the side of his cheek, her thumb running over his cheekbone. “But think about it from my point of view. What if something happened to you and I did exactly what you were doing? Wouldn’t that make you mad? Wouldn’t you want me to take care of myself?” She raised her eyebrows expectantly. “Because that’s what I feel like knowing you wouldn’t take care of yourself.” Faye dropped her hand from his face and offered him a small smile. “Besides, you should really just agree with me,” she began. “Don’t cause me any more stress than I already have.” And god, was she stressed. “Stress isn’t good for a baby,” she added nonchalantly. Tugging at her hair, Faye looked at herself in the reflection in the mirror. She looked tired. She was exhausted and hadn't gotten much sleep since a grounder had blown up mount weather. There had been lots of people she knew in the mountain, but one death had struck her particularly hard. A little girl named Emma. Faye knew her from her time working in the kitchen and she had even gone so far as to try and sneak the girl extra rations. She was probably six, hell maybe she had been seven when she died. Either way, Faye had been crushed when she found out about mount weather, but she had been extremely glad that Bellamy hadn't been inside at the time.
People were holding a memorial for those that were lost in mount weather. Faye knew she should go, but she didn't think she would be able to say anything. Emma had been special to her but it was just another person that had been taken away from her. She lost everyone she cared about. Even Clarke had left her, which had hurt like hell. Her only comfort had been in Bellamy. It was strange to think that the two had practically been at one another's throats when they first met. But as time went on she realized that she agreed more with Bellamy than with Clarke. It had been difficult, given her friendship with Clarke, but Faye had realized she had to do what she thought was right. In the end, she was glad she had supported some of Bellamy's ideas instead of Clarke's. Faye didn't trust grounders and distrusted them even more after Mount Weather.
Sighing, Faye let her hair fall from her hands. Her blonde waves of hair would just have to be left alone for now. She left her room and went to search for Bellamy. She didn't' know if he was going to the memorial or not. She knew he had been good friends with Gina, but she wasn't sure if he was going or not. She decided that if he was going, then she would go. Hooking up with Bellamy had sort of been unexpected. Sure, Faye had felt their connection grow as time went on, but she had never thought something would come from it. It hadn't been until Clarke abandoned the both of them that they got together. And Faye had to admit that Bellamy made her happy. Well, as happy as one could be in the world they lived in.
She knew she could find him in his room. That's where he usually was if he wasn't out on patrol or doing something with the guard. So she made her way towards his room, lightly knocking on his door before she opened it and let herself in. Faye gave him a quick kiss before sitting on his bed. "Are you going to the memorial?" She asked, her voice soft. A small smile graced her lips for a moment. "Have I told you lately I'm glad you weren't there? I'm not sure what I would have done without you," she confessed.

Faye was more than glad when some other Arkers came over to assist the man on the ground. Faye wasted no time in getting up from her spot next to him, helping Clarke up as well. It wasn't that she didn't care for the well being of the man, but it was just that she had other things to worry about and it wasn't like she knew him. Faye quickly nodded her head at Clarke's question. Alex had been in the City of Light. The whole thing had been chaos, but at least Faye knew that. But she didn't know where he was now and she was having some anxiety over it. She couldn't lose him. She had already lost so much and he was all she had left. Well, now it appeared that she had Clarke back but she never knew how long that was going to last. She would be lying if she said she wasn't still a little hurt over Clarke leaving after the events at Mount Weather.
"Why?" She asked, finally calming herself down enough to form a rational question. "I know that look. Something is wrong, other than the obvious." You know, other than all of the dead and injured. Oh god. What if A.L.I.E was still alive? Faye knew it was just an artificial intelligence, but that didn't make her any less dangerous. Faye had seen what the bitch in the red dress could do. But wasn't that how they all came out of the City of Light? With the destruction of A.L.I.E? Faye didn't know but she quickly became concerned at the possibilities of what could be wrong now. She knew it would be hell trying to leave the city, but she still didn't think that was it.

She smiled at his request for sleep. She was tired as well, especially since she had already been sleeping when he had come back to their apartment. Although, Faye wasn't sure how easily she would be able to sleep after everything that had just happened. Her mind was still processing the fact that Alex had thought her to be dead, and while she hadn't said anything, she noticed how exhausted and run down he looked. As much as he wanted her to take care of herself when she was gone, she wanted him to do the same should anything happen to her first. But Faye decided to keep that conversation for another time. Right now she just wanted to relish in the fact that he had told her he loved her and she had returned the words. Right now she just wanted to feel safe and loved, something she could only feel with Alex.
"That sounds great," Faye said, nodding her head. She reluctantly pulled herself from his grasp, but only because she knew she would be in his arms again momentarily. Getting up from the floor, she pulled Alex up as well and walked him over to the bed, her hand never releasing his. She crawled back into bed and held the covers open for him to climb in as well. It didn't take long before she nestled against his body, her head resting on his chest while her arm draped over his torso. "Just please try to take care of yourself," she whispered. "I can't live in this mess without you."

She had no idea how much time had passed since she had first arrived by Clarke's side. Faye knew she had nodded off a few times, but only for a few minutes each time. Some of the nurses had tried to get her to leave to get some rest, but she had ignored them. Had it not been Clarke, she was almost positive Abby would have tried to shoo her herself. But it was Clarke and a lot of people knew how close the two were. Faye wouldn't move from this spot until the blonde woke up. Again, she didn't know how much time had passed since Clarke had been brought inside camp, but she hoped the girl would wake up soon.
Faye could have sworn she saw Clarke twitch, a sign that she was starting to wake up. Or, a sign that Faye was getting sleep deprived. Slowly, she saw Clarke's eyes start to open and Faye sat up in her chair. She leaned forward and took ahold of Clarke's hand, being careful of any injuries near her. Faye couldn't help the relieved smile on her face as Clarke came back to the land of the living. Hearing Clarke say her name brought her happiness she didn't know she could feel. This girl was her family; her sister. Faye reached over to the table next to Clarke's bed and handed her the canteen of water that had been placed there for her. "Here," Faye offered, urging the girl to drink. "How are you feeling? Do you want me to get your mom?" There were a million more questions she could ask, but she didn't want to overwhelm Clarke.

Part of Faye wished she could be as naive as the others. She wished she could believe the mountain people wanted nothing but to help them. But that's not what she believed. She thought they wanted something. Why be so nice to a group of people? It was about survival down here and it wasn't like they had unlimited supplies. Her only source of comfort had been her best friend, Clarke. Clarke and Faye had both found the mountain men to be suspicious. Neither girls trusted them. So Faye had been more than upset when she found out that Clarke had escaped without her. The two had been trying to think of a way to get their people out, but nothing solid had been formed. Faye knew that Clarke would never leave her behind on purpose. She knew that she had probably seen a chance and taken it. In her mind, she tried to calm herself down, telling herself that Clarke would come back, but that didn't stop her from feeling a little hurt.
She took the wandering the halls. She got lost in her own thoughts but didn't try looking for a way out. They were being watched closer than ever, so she didn't even bother. She must have made her way down to the school area, as she soon saw pieces of art on the walls. The art looked like it had been done by very young children and she took a moment to stare at one of the pictures. It wasn't good. It looked like a little kid had done it. Faye had never been able to understand how parents could act like they loved these pictures. She supposed it came down to the love they had for their children. Faye had never felt the need to become a mother so she couldn't really understand, but that's what she had always been told.
Someone called out and she turned her head in the direction of the room it had come from. Faye could either ignore the voice and keep walking, or go inside and talk to the person. She knew it would be a mountain man and while she held a distaste for them, she did see the benefits of befriending one. Perhaps they could help her escape. So, Faye made her way into the classroom and offered a forced smile. "Sorry. I was just looking at the pictures out here," she explained.

| Faye should have known that Bellamy wouldn't want to leave. There were still some of their people not in the dropship. But if they tried to get them inside, they would surely die. He had to realize that this was the best option. His people wouldn't benefit from his death. He had to have known that. Bellamy was a vital aspect of their group dynamic and even though she knew he would always put his people first, she needed him to put his life first. Faye had no idea where Octavia was but she figured if Bellamy was even considering leaving, that she must be safe. Faye knew that she wouldn't have been able to drag him from this camp if his sister was still here.
They went through the tunnel, Bellamy making sure that she went first. Had the situation not been so dire, she would have made a sarcastic comment about being a gentlemen or making sure he didn't stare at her ass. But it was not the time nor the place, so the thought had not even crossed her mind. He helped her out of the tunnel and Faye made sure to only offer her good arm. The sound of the blast caught her attention and she turned to look back in the direction of the camp. At least it had worked. But Faye wasted no time in trying to get away from the tunnel, not knowing if any of the fire would make its way into it. She had no desire to get this far, only to be killed by the explosion like this.
Bellamy said he was fine but Faye could see all of the cuts and blood on his face and hands. He would have to be patched up, but now was not the time. But clearly, he noticed that she was not fine and she frowned. Faye would have liked to believe that she was better at hiding her injury than that, but apparently not. "I'm fine. We can deal with it later. Right now we need to move." They would come back soon, but they needed some time to pass. Faye didn't know if any of the grounders had managed to escape and she was in no condition to fight them if they came across them. "Let's circle around so we can put some distance between us and any surviving grounders," she suggested.
Faye didn't leave it up for discussion, and soon started to walk away from the tunnel. She knew Bellamy well enough to know that he would want to go back as soon as possible, but even he had to know that it was smarter to do this. Clarke wouldn't let them open the dropship door for a while anyway. So they walked, Faye's left arm hanging limply by her side. She would have to relocate it soon, but she would rather put a little more space between them and the camp. She didn't know how long they had been walking, but a noise caught her attention. Faye looked up and saw something that made her eyes go wide. "You've got to be kidding me," she swore, turning to lock eyes with Bellamy. "Come on! I know where we can go," she said, quickly making a sharp right and picking up her speed.
Sure, she had only been to the bunker twice but she knew they weren't too far from it. Faye was pretty confident that she could find it, but she couldn't think about the chances of not remembering where it was. Their life was literally depending on her remembering it. As she ran, she noted several landmarks that she recognized. She was more than thankful that Clarke had pointed them out to her when she had showed her the place. The fog was growing closer, but not close enough to burn their skin, at least not yet. Thinking that they had arrived, Faye skidded down onto her knees and began using her good arm to clear the leaves from the ground. Relief flooded through her when the metal door appeared. Thank god. But she couldn't open it with one arm and she quickly moved out of the way so Bellamy could open it. "Just turn it," she said with insistence in her voice. The fog was creeping closer. If they didn't get it open within the next thirty seconds, they were fucked. |

The City of Light was destroyed and so was the euphoric feeling Faye had felt. Taking the chip had been an easy choice at the time. She was suffering from not knowing where Clarke was, or even Alex for that matter. She didn't know what was going to happen and if she was going to die, then she wanted to not be in pain. Perhaps it was selfish of her, but Faye couldn't afford to be like that when death was likely approaching. Things with the grounders had been tense, especially with Pike in charge. Faye hadn't disagreed with his opinions, but there had been certain things that she hadn't agreed with. She had never been crazy about the grounder army being outside their camp, even more so once she found out Abby and Kane hadn't told anyone. But slaughtering them while they slept felt a little extreme, even to Faye.
Polis was in shambles. There were wounded everywhere and even some dead bodies around every corner. One Arker was close to her and while she didn't recognize him, she still crouched by his side to see if she could help. Most of what he mumbled wasn't coherent and Faye didn't have the energy to try and calm him down. Faye's mind started to race. Wait. Where was Alex? Was he okay? She felt like she couldn't breathe. The only reason she snapped out of it was because someone else kneeled by her side. Clarke. It took her a minute to process that Clarke was actually next to her. She didn't hear what the blonde said but Faye immediately threw her arms around her best friend. She felt like she could cry. She was exhausted and stressed out and she hadn't seen Clarke in forever. "I don't know," she answered after pulling away. "I just . . . I need to find Alex."

She knew he was right. They didn't know what would happen in the future. They could both die tomorrow for all they knew. Or they could die in a week from a grounder attack. Faye knew she should be enjoying the time she did have with him, but it was hard for her to think that way. It was hard because she had already lost so many people and she knew she wouldn't surviving losing him too. With Clarke gone, he was literally the only thing that kept her moving. He was what helped her wake up in the morning. Faye felt another tear slide down her cheek at her thoughts and she quickly wiped it away. She hated crying, especially in front of people she cared about. It wasn't like something had been drilled into her head about showing feelings, but she just didn't like people seeing her like that. She didn't like the vulnerability that came with it and she didn't like it when people gave her looks of pity.
Alex listed off many things that could go wrong, that could cause their demise. Leave it to him to make jokes at a time like this. His words had Faye trying to suppress a small life. It was just the way he spoke, but he could always make her laugh. He always knew what to say. Hell, that was the main reason she had started to like him. It had been so long since she had genuinely smiled or laughed and he had been the one to get her to do just that. A small chuckle managed to escape her lips, and she finally looked up at him. "I know," she spoke. "But it doesn't make my worries any weaker." She was going to worry about his illness all the time. "I just . . . finding out you were sick hit me like a ton of bricks. I just didn't want to lose you like I lost everyone else," Faye explained.

Faye felt her body being moved into his arms and she let him, not that she would normally deny his displays of affection. The warmth of his body radiated off of him and made her feel warm. She wasn't cold but his warmth always made her feel better. Faye nestled her head into the crook of his neck and she wrapped her arms around him, completely folding herself into his body, as if he could protect her from these feelings. Alex spoke of the possibility of her being dead, and Faye hadn't honestly thought about it like that. Her only thought was that the medicine was gone and that she should have traveled faster or not taken as many breaks. But she forgot to realize that if she had made it, she probably would have died. Faye was supposed to arrive at Mount Weather the day it exploded and she knew she wouldn't have left immediately after retrieving the medicine. No, she would have stayed the night so she could rest. That would have meant her death, even if she had gotten the medicine.
She exhaled at his comment. He didn't want to lose her either. While it warmed her heart, it didn't make her feel as good as it should have. She should have smiled at his declaration of caring. Instead, all she could think about how it would be her who would lose him someday. Faye pressed her face against the skin on his neck, enjoying the contact while she could. She would never forget this feeling, She couldn't. Wait. Did he just say . . . ? Faye pulled her face away from his neck and looked into his eyes, searching to make sure she had heard him correctly. "I love you too," she spoke after a moment. Faye leaned forward and pressed her lips against his, not wanting to ever let go.

White knuckles clenched the make-shift seatbelt wrapped around various parts of her body to try to keep her in place. She wasn’t sure how efficient it would be when it came down to it, but she had no desire to test that theory. However, it wasn’t looking good as the Ark hurtled towards Earth at a speed that was faster than she was comfortable with. Faye wasn’t crazy about the whole thing in general, but they didn’t have any other option. It was either attempt a journey to Earth or suffocate to death on the Ark. Right now, Faye was favoring the suffocation as opposed to dying in a fiery crash. There was a sharp jolt, bouncing her head off of the wall she was leaning against. It hurt, but she didn’t lose consciousness or anything. Although, maybe it would have been best so that she wouldn’t have to experience the crash landing.
She didn’t know if she had blacked out during the crash or if she had just forced herself to forget it. Either way, Faye woke up with a beam across her body. She could barely move but at least she could breathe. Looking around, she noticed that others were passed out from the crash, but not everyone. There was no way they were going to get this beam off. It was too heavy and they had no equipment to defeat such a task. Faye wanted to laugh. She had made it to Earth, only to die from a damn beam. It was the sort of laugh that would turn into tears. But she wasn’t going to let that happen. She wasn’t going to die with tears in her eyes. Maybe she would just fall asleep and eventually the pressure would be too much for her body.
Someone spoke and she was fairly certain it was aimed at her. Turning her head, she looked to see a guy not too far from her. Like her, he was also stuck beneath the large metal beam. Well, at least she wasn’t going to die alone and she had something nice to look at. “Yeah,” she spoke finally. Was she fine? Well she wasn’t in any horrible pain. Her head hurt and her legs felt like they were going to fall asleep any minute. She had never done well with sitting still. “You?” She asked, returning the question to see if he was alright. “How about that for ironic. We make it to Earth only to be killed by the Ark. Almost funny,” she mused.

His words fell from his mouth but she didn’t really take them to heart. He didn’t think it was as serious as she did. Alex’s hope should have made her feel better, should have warmed her heart. But it didn’t and she felt like she was going to slump into a depression if she didn’t at least try to get out of it. Faye had suffered from depression before, but it only really became bad when things like this happened. After her mom passed, she had been in a horrible slump for months. Faye didn’t want to cut herself off from Alex or push him away, because she knew that’s what she would do. It was how her brain was wired when it came to dealing with the depressive episodes. Her mind brought her back to the present and Alex was still talking. She heard him mention the Ark’s update of the medical database and something about the MIR-3’s database. Quite frankly, she didn’t understand any of it and she wouldn’t have even if her head was really paying attention.
Faye didn’t really know what to say. She looked up at Alex for the first time in a few minutes, her eyes meeting his. She inhaled deeply and let the breath out slowly. What was she going to do? This trip to Mount Weather was supposed to fix everything. Even if Alex believed there was medicine that they could still find or make, she wasn’t as optimistic as him. Faye wanted to point out that they could not find the medicine; it could be on a different continent for all they knew. But she knew it wouldn’t be of much use at this point. He seemed positive about the situation and if she really loved him, she knew she should believe him. Faye reached up and rubbed her eyes, banishing any unshed tears. “I still don’t want to lose you. I still wish that I had made it in time.”

| He promised that she wouldn’t wake up one morning to find him gone, but that wasn’t really a promise he could make. She knew he was just trying to make her feel better but it didn’t help. Faye knew at one point in her life his illness would be bad enough where it took his life. That was how death worked and she knew from experience. Her mother had been the same way. One minute she had been fine and the next she had been gone. One would assume that Faye would have been prepared since her mom had been sick her whole life, but her mom had always promised to be around. She always promised that she would be there for Faye. But she wasn’t and right now she just wanted to hug her mom and tell her about Alex and how much she cared for him. She wanted to have the stupid mother-daughter talks about boys. But none of that could happen since her mother was dead. “I know how an illness like this works,” she whispered back. She stared at the blank spot in front of her face. Faye had briefly mentioned her mother to Alex before. She had summarized what had happened to her and how she had been sick her whole life. She hadn’t gotten too into it, seeing as she didn’t care to discuss the topic. But he knew about her mom so he should be able to understand that this was a sensitive topic for her. A sad laugh left her lips when he joked about her being sick of him. That wasn’t going to happen, because she knew how she felt about him. She hadn’t exactly told him that she loved him, but they both knew that they cared about one another in a strong way. “I won’t get sick of you,” Faye sadly joked. “I . . .” What was she going to say? That she loved him? That she was still upset about him lying? “I don’t want a life without you in it,” she finished after a moment.
you promised me you'd be around. |
