| Chaos. Chaos was everywhere and there was no avoiding it. Dead bodies littered the ground and most of them consisted of her own people but sometimes she was able to spot a dead grounder. Their guns had done some damage but not enough to make a real difference. They had wasted so many bullets on the grounders as they had been moving back and forth among the trees. It didn’t help that Raven had been injured and had been unable to continue making bullets because Murphy had used up the rest of their gunpowder. She didn’t know how they thought this was going to end. She didn’t know how this could have possibly ended in their favor. She admired Bellamy for wanting to fight for their home. Faye wouldn’t have been able to roll over without fighting either, but they had lost so many people. The grounders had dealt a powerful blow with their poisoned arrows and miraculous aim of their spears.
Blood and dirt and sweat covered her face. She was exhausted but couldn’t afford to be. She had to keep fighting. A grounder rushed towards her and she used her gun, which was more of a glorified paperweight at this point, to smash him in the face. He was out cold but not dead. Quickly, Faye reached down and grabbed the sword and spear he had been holding. She wondered why he hadn’t thrown the spear at her but she didn’t want to question it. She was lucky to still be alive. Faye threw a spear at a grounder that was in the middle of killing one of her people. She had killed the grounder with fairly decent aim, but she knew that the person he had been killing was already dead. She hadn’t been able to save them.
The sound of the door closing caught her attention. Her head whipped in the direction of the drop ship and saw that the door was indeed closing. Panic ran through her body as she started to rush towards the door. She could make it if she went fast enough. But not all of their people were inside, that much she could see. Faye knew that the door closing meant that Jasper and Clarke had succeeded and that the fire from the rockets would soon scorch the Earth. Jumping over a few bodies, Faye was almost to the drop ship but she saw Clarke’s concerned face and Faye followed her line of sight. A grounder was beating Bellamy. Faye looked between him and the still closing door. She could make the door but that would mean that Bellamy would be burned with the remaining grounders. But she knew that if she went for the door and saved herself, she would always feel responsible for his death. She would always wonder if she would have been able to save him.
The sword she had acquired slashed through the middle of the grounder. He fell to the floor and she reached down to pull the sword from his body but another grounder tackled her to the hard ground. She cried out in pain as she felt a horrible sensation radiate from her shoulder. The grounder raised his knife to slit her throat but Faye had been able to reach for a rock and she smashed it upside his head. He wasn’t down for the count but the hit had been enough to allow her to get out from underneath him and get the sword from the body. Faye quickly hacked at his head until she was certain he would no longer be an issue. Faye looked up in panic, unsure of how much time had passed since she had made her decision to try to save Bellamy. She could be fried in the next minute depending on when they decided to torch everyone. Many of the grounders had started banging on the door of the drop ship in an attempt to break through. Relieved at the distraction, Faye rushed over towards Bellamy. “We need to get out of here,” she said through labored breathing.
The blonde tried her best to help him stand, using her good arm since her shoulder was still on fire. With her luck, she had probably dislocated it. But Faye didn’t have time to worry about her shoulder. She had to worry about keeping her and Bellamy alive. She tried going as quickly as possible towards the tunnel near their camp. Even if they could get inside they had a chance of avoiding the fire. The fire could certainly make its way into the tunnel but it was less likely. At least they had a chance of survival this way. “You okay?” Faye asked, looking over at Bellamy. She tried to focus on him so she could ignore the pain she felt in her shoulder.

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Kill or be killed. Those were their only options. Tensions with the Grounders had led to a war. And while Grounders had the advantage of numbers, they had the advantage of technology. Something they were using to their utmost advantage. But even still, there were glitches. Like the damn guns jamming. It was what had caused Bellamy to fall to the ground -- though it didn't help that he had chosen the apparent leader of their army to go after. Bellamy was on the ground, each strike to his face leaving him more and more disoriented. When he felt the pressure of the man alleviated from on top of him, Bellamy didn't waste another moment.
He grabbed his gun and rammed it into the face on another approaching grounder with as much force as he could. He did the same with the end of the weapon. It may not be able to fire bullets right now, but it still held purpose. He then reached for one of the dead grounder's sword, slashing it at anyone who came his way, looking over ot make sure the others were not caught in similar positions of nearly being killed. Those who he did saw, he tried to save, but the sounds of the dropship caused him to turn his head. Clarke was closing the door. He didn't have time to think on it, fearful for those who were left outside. He knew what was going to come next. The explosion. A voice caused him to sharply turn, seeing face, and belatedly processing that she had been the one to get the grounder off of him. She was saying that they had to leave . . . but Bellamy was reluctant.
How could he leave the others. They knew the explosion would be coming as it was part of the plan. "HEY!" He called to them. His people. Not about to tip off the Grounders. Hopefully they would understand him enough, to at least capture their attention so that they could see he was making a run for it. And with that, he did, waiting for Faye to go through the tunnel before he followed. Once they were on the other side, he helped her out and looked over her. "Fine," he answered, clearly distracted, and trying to process all that had happened. "What happened? Where are you hurt?" He wasn't going to beat around the bush. He could tell by her body language that something had happened. He didn't see any blood which meant that she hadn't been stabbed. But she was clearly injured.

| Faye should have known that Bellamy wouldn't want to leave. There were still some of their people not in the dropship. But if they tried to get them inside, they would surely die. He had to realize that this was the best option. His people wouldn't benefit from his death. He had to have known that. Bellamy was a vital aspect of their group dynamic and even though she knew he would always put his people first, she needed him to put his life first. Faye had no idea where Octavia was but she figured if Bellamy was even considering leaving, that she must be safe. Faye knew that she wouldn't have been able to drag him from this camp if his sister was still here.
They went through the tunnel, Bellamy making sure that she went first. Had the situation not been so dire, she would have made a sarcastic comment about being a gentlemen or making sure he didn't stare at her ass. But it was not the time nor the place, so the thought had not even crossed her mind. He helped her out of the tunnel and Faye made sure to only offer her good arm. The sound of the blast caught her attention and she turned to look back in the direction of the camp. At least it had worked. But Faye wasted no time in trying to get away from the tunnel, not knowing if any of the fire would make its way into it. She had no desire to get this far, only to be killed by the explosion like this.
Bellamy said he was fine but Faye could see all of the cuts and blood on his face and hands. He would have to be patched up, but now was not the time. But clearly, he noticed that she was not fine and she frowned. Faye would have liked to believe that she was better at hiding her injury than that, but apparently not. "I'm fine. We can deal with it later. Right now we need to move." They would come back soon, but they needed some time to pass. Faye didn't know if any of the grounders had managed to escape and she was in no condition to fight them if they came across them. "Let's circle around so we can put some distance between us and any surviving grounders," she suggested.
Faye didn't leave it up for discussion, and soon started to walk away from the tunnel. She knew Bellamy well enough to know that he would want to go back as soon as possible, but even he had to know that it was smarter to do this. Clarke wouldn't let them open the dropship door for a while anyway. So they walked, Faye's left arm hanging limply by her side. She would have to relocate it soon, but she would rather put a little more space between them and the camp. She didn't know how long they had been walking, but a noise caught her attention. Faye looked up and saw something that made her eyes go wide. "You've got to be kidding me," she swore, turning to lock eyes with Bellamy. "Come on! I know where we can go," she said, quickly making a sharp right and picking up her speed.
Sure, she had only been to the bunker twice but she knew they weren't too far from it. Faye was pretty confident that she could find it, but she couldn't think about the chances of not remembering where it was. Their life was literally depending on her remembering it. As she ran, she noted several landmarks that she recognized. She was more than thankful that Clarke had pointed them out to her when she had showed her the place. The fog was growing closer, but not close enough to burn their skin, at least not yet. Thinking that they had arrived, Faye skidded down onto her knees and began using her good arm to clear the leaves from the ground. Relief flooded through her when the metal door appeared. Thank god. But she couldn't open it with one arm and she quickly moved out of the way so Bellamy could open it. "Just turn it," she said with insistence in her voice. The fog was creeping closer. If they didn't get it open within the next thirty seconds, they were fucked. |
