The crash was unexpected, despite him knowing it was coming. The people on the station had scattered during it and some of the structures collapsed upon impact. A space station just wasn't technically built for crash landing on a million year rock floating in space - at least not one that big. Asteroids of various sizes - mostly small - it could handle. But that big fat green and blue floating rock? No chance. It took a moment of disorientation until he recognized his surroundings, the room he was in upon the crash, the thing he used to fasten himself still holding him, strangely now.
Something was on him and some others. The girl closest to him, some others had more luck than them. The beam was pressing closer to him and her. But it was a miracle. That beam could have killed them, but the impact only bent it, most likely making it a comparatively slow happening, lost to the people who were disoriented by the impact. Like a space station, the human body was not made for impact on big green and blue rocks floating through space. Way too squishy and breakable
"You okay?" He asked the girl - no young woman - next to him. "I mean aside from being stuck under a decorative yet useless beam."

White knuckles clenched the make-shift seatbelt wrapped around various parts of her body to try to keep her in place. She wasn’t sure how efficient it would be when it came down to it, but she had no desire to test that theory. However, it wasn’t looking good as the Ark hurtled towards Earth at a speed that was faster than she was comfortable with. Faye wasn’t crazy about the whole thing in general, but they didn’t have any other option. It was either attempt a journey to Earth or suffocate to death on the Ark. Right now, Faye was favoring the suffocation as opposed to dying in a fiery crash. There was a sharp jolt, bouncing her head off of the wall she was leaning against. It hurt, but she didn’t lose consciousness or anything. Although, maybe it would have been best so that she wouldn’t have to experience the crash landing.
She didn’t know if she had blacked out during the crash or if she had just forced herself to forget it. Either way, Faye woke up with a beam across her body. She could barely move but at least she could breathe. Looking around, she noticed that others were passed out from the crash, but not everyone. There was no way they were going to get this beam off. It was too heavy and they had no equipment to defeat such a task. Faye wanted to laugh. She had made it to Earth, only to die from a damn beam. It was the sort of laugh that would turn into tears. But she wasn’t going to let that happen. She wasn’t going to die with tears in her eyes. Maybe she would just fall asleep and eventually the pressure would be too much for her body.
Someone spoke and she was fairly certain it was aimed at her. Turning her head, she looked to see a guy not too far from her. Like her, he was also stuck beneath the large metal beam. Well, at least she wasn’t going to die alone and she had something nice to look at. “Yeah,” she spoke finally. Was she fine? Well she wasn’t in any horrible pain. Her head hurt and her legs felt like they were going to fall asleep any minute. She had never done well with sitting still. “You?” She asked, returning the question to see if he was alright. “How about that for ironic. We make it to Earth only to be killed by the Ark. Almost funny,” she mused.

"The Ark was killing us up there, too." Just a lot slower, more malicious. The thing was, that with the dropship ripping itself from the Ark, so many life support systems were failing rapidly, that they wouldn't have made it long. It was a long night ahead of them, with only death ahead. At least by coming down to the ground, they had a fighting chance. "It's going to be a long night. But for some of us there is light on the horizon and the sun will rise to another day." It was a stupid thing to say, really, but it gave him hope.
"I worked as electrician. I tried to uphold the life support after it started to fail." And he suffered from it. He hadn't slept and he was so tired. But at the same time he'd rather not sleep and get a fighting chance for him and his people to survive. "Well, I guess it worked. We are alive. Someone will come." He guessed they would make an assessment of who was where. And people knew there were people in this part of the station. They could survive this. "Just try to stay still and don't touch anything that you're not already touching."

He spoke about light on the horizon and seeing another day. She knew he was just trying to have hope; hope that they would get out of here alive. But Faye wasn't like that. Faye couldn't think like that anymore. She referred to herself as being a realist. She called things as they were and didn't cling to false hope. But Faye wasn't going to completely crush his. If that's what he wanted to hold onto, then she would let him. But she also wasn't going to encourage his words or repeat them.
The man spoke of trying to save the oxygen system even though it was failing. He must have known that it was failing and that they didn't have much time left. It made her think of Jake Griffin, her best friend's father. He had been floated for wanting to tell people about it. Faye had mixed feelings about it. Part of her knew it would only cause chaos on the ark, but the other part of her thought that it would be smarter to have more minds trying to fix the problem. But the counsel obviously didn't agree with Jake wanting to tell everyone, and thus he had been floated. "Hopefully," she mused. Hopefully someone would come. But someone had to find them in order to help them. And even then, how the hell did they plan on getting this beam off of them. "What's your name?" She asked after a beat. "I'm Faye." Might as well get to know the person she could potentially die with.
