She could feel the anxiety radiating through her body. Everyone was gone. Well, not everyone. Finn Collins and Bellamy Blake were alive along with a few others that had managed to escape the blast. Faye had paid close attention when Finn and Bellamy had recounted what had happened with the so-called grounders. Clarke had to be alive. There was no way her best friend could be dead. Faye was all alone on Earth and Clarke was her last connection. People around her tended to die and if Clarke died, then she knew it was true. The delinquents wanted to find the others but the adults were making it very difficult to leave camp. It wasn’t like Faye to sneak behind their backs, but in this case she was willing to make an exception.
It was late at night and Faye planned to try to get some sort of strategy going for the following morning. But the sounds of shouts caught her attention and she quickly removed herself from her tent. Someone was being carried into camp and she could have sworn she heard Clarke’s name. But there were too many people and she couldn’t push her way through the crowd. She would have to wait and Faye wasn’t exactly the most patient person in the world. She wasn’t sure how long it was until someone found her, saying that it was Clarke they had found. She was found in rough shape but they were predicting her to make a full recovery.
Faye quickly made her way down to where they made the make-shift medical bay. It didn’t take her long to pull up a seat next to Clarke’s bed. She was asleep but Faye didn’t care. She just liked seeing her friend, even if she looked bad. It had been months since the two had seen one another, maybe even a year if she was thinking about the time correctly. Faye rubbed her eyes, feeling like she was going to cry. No. She wasn’t going to do that. She wasn’t going to be that person. She would wait by Clarke’s side until she woke up and there was nothing anyone could do to get her to leave.

She frowned and furrowed her brows at his outburst. Faye watched as he stood up, but she didn't join him. She stayed on the ground, on the floor, because that's where she wanted to be. She still felt awful and him saying 'screw it' was not going to help. "You don't know that," she said softly, shaking her head as he tried to look for hope. "That bunker was created hundreds of years before the war. I'm sure they kept it stocked with the right kinds of medicines, changing them whenever they needed to." Faye wanted to believe that he was right, but she just couldn't. She had never been one to believe in false hope. She didn't mean to be negative but she couldn't help the words falling from her mouth. Not to mention, they had tools in Mount Weather that they didn't have and those tools were gone now too. Sure, maybe some of them could be replaced with time and the help of their mechanics and engineers, but even that was a stretch.
Faye pulled both of her legs up and into her chest, wrapping her arms around them to keep them close to her body. She didn't know what else to say. She didn't want to wallow in her sorrow; she wasn't the one that was sick. But she would be the one that was alone again. "I just can't lose you," Faye whispered. Because she . . . loved him. She had never spoken the words aloud to him but she knew it was how she felt. It had been a short period of time between the two but it hadn't changed the way she felt about him.

| The atmosphere shifted and she could feel something along the lines of anger radiating off of Alex. She knew it wasn't directed at her, but likely those in medical that had spoken to her about his illness. Part of her didn't blame them for saying something. It was, after all, not their business to discuss it with anyone unless approved by the patient. But the other part of her didn't blame the person that had told her. They had been under the assumption that Alex had shared his illness with Faye, especially considering their relationship. If it was a no brainer for this nurse that didn't know them, then how come he had never told her? Faye supposed there wasn't much of a point in overthinking it since she now knew about his illness. There wasn't a way to go back in time and fix things. The truth was out and that was what they should both be focusing on.
'I can explain'. Usually the expression would have Faye rolling her eyes and storming away, not even wanting an explanation. But with Alex, she wanted him to explain. She wanted to know what had kept him from sharing this part of himself with her. Faye had been under the impression that they shared everything with one another but it was quite obvious that wasn't the case. She felt his hand touch her leg and she finally looked up at him as he lowered himself so he was level with her on the floor. Faye listened to his explanation, not interrupting him at all, even though she wanted to. She wanted to argue every point he made but she couldn't bring herself to even open her mouth. At least, not until he was done.
"You need to take care of yourself," she finally said. "You make me happy too. But this . . . it's not just something you can ignore. You may feel fine now but obviously it's something serious. Alex, I don't want to wake up one day to find you gone." A tear slid down her cheek as she said her last sentence. He was being careless and part of her wanted to point out that it was selfish of him, but she knew that he was probably already upset that she had found out like this. Hell, Faye was upset that she had found out like this. you promised me you'd be around. |

Her eyes went wide as he shouted at her. She wasn't afraid of him, but she was afraid of what was going on in his mind. Something was seriously wrong. Faye's mind went to quickly put the pieces together and it didn't take long until she made the connection. He thought she had died. It was because of Mount Weather exploding, that much she knew. Perhaps everyone thought that she had made it to Mount Weather before the explosion so she had been inside at the time, leaving her dead. She felt her heart break knowing what Alex had been through, thinking that she had perished in Mount Weather with all of the others. Faye wasn't sure how that hadn't crossed her mind during her journey home. Maybe because she had only been thinking about how she wasn't able to get the medicine for Alex so he could stay alive.
He fell to his knees in front of her and he wrapped his arms around her waist. Faye brought one of her hands to her mouth to cover it, afraid she would start sobbing at the sight in front of her. But then she heard him crying and the words that he spoke, well, they just about killed her. A tear slid down her cheek and she removed his arms so she could kneel down on the ground with him. "I hadn't made it to Mount Weather yet," Faye said, placing her arms on his shoulders and looking him in the eye. Another tear escaped and she leaned forward pressing her forehead against his and closing her eyes. "But I didn't get your medicine and now it's gone," she cried. Faye knew better than to argue with Alex about him blaming herself. She had left to get the medicine for him, after all. But it hadn't been upon his request and she hadn't exactly put the idea up for discussion either. Faye had made the decision because she needed him to get better.

| It didn't feel real. It couldn't be real. But it was. This was her reality and it had just come crashing down. Everyone she loved died and it seemed like Alex was no exception. Faye didn't know how long she had been sitting there, but she was pulled from her thoughts when she heard the apartment door open. She saw him soon after she heard the door open, considering she was sitting in the main room. But Faye couldn't bring herself to look up at him. She only saw him from the corner of her eye. Faye couldn't seem to stop staring at the blank spot in front of her face. He asked why she was sitting on the floor but she didn't say anything. Instead she merely looked down at her nails and how much she had chewed on them since she had been sitting on the floor. "No," she finally said. "They haven't found Clarke."
She took a beat to collect her thoughts and she cleared her throat. "Were you going to tell me you were sick or was I only going to find out when you were on your death bed?" Her tone was empty but in her mind she was bitter and hurt. "Medical wanted me to tell you they wanted to run more tests on you. Something about your lungs and heart." Faye brought a knee to her chest and hugged it, resting her chin on the tip of her knee.
you promised me you'd be around. |

| Chaos. Chaos was everywhere and there was no avoiding it. Dead bodies littered the ground and most of them consisted of her own people but sometimes she was able to spot a dead grounder. Their guns had done some damage but not enough to make a real difference. They had wasted so many bullets on the grounders as they had been moving back and forth among the trees. It didn’t help that Raven had been injured and had been unable to continue making bullets because Murphy had used up the rest of their gunpowder. She didn’t know how they thought this was going to end. She didn’t know how this could have possibly ended in their favor. She admired Bellamy for wanting to fight for their home. Faye wouldn’t have been able to roll over without fighting either, but they had lost so many people. The grounders had dealt a powerful blow with their poisoned arrows and miraculous aim of their spears.
Blood and dirt and sweat covered her face. She was exhausted but couldn’t afford to be. She had to keep fighting. A grounder rushed towards her and she used her gun, which was more of a glorified paperweight at this point, to smash him in the face. He was out cold but not dead. Quickly, Faye reached down and grabbed the sword and spear he had been holding. She wondered why he hadn’t thrown the spear at her but she didn’t want to question it. She was lucky to still be alive. Faye threw a spear at a grounder that was in the middle of killing one of her people. She had killed the grounder with fairly decent aim, but she knew that the person he had been killing was already dead. She hadn’t been able to save them.
The sound of the door closing caught her attention. Her head whipped in the direction of the drop ship and saw that the door was indeed closing. Panic ran through her body as she started to rush towards the door. She could make it if she went fast enough. But not all of their people were inside, that much she could see. Faye knew that the door closing meant that Jasper and Clarke had succeeded and that the fire from the rockets would soon scorch the Earth. Jumping over a few bodies, Faye was almost to the drop ship but she saw Clarke’s concerned face and Faye followed her line of sight. A grounder was beating Bellamy. Faye looked between him and the still closing door. She could make the door but that would mean that Bellamy would be burned with the remaining grounders. But she knew that if she went for the door and saved herself, she would always feel responsible for his death. She would always wonder if she would have been able to save him.
The sword she had acquired slashed through the middle of the grounder. He fell to the floor and she reached down to pull the sword from his body but another grounder tackled her to the hard ground. She cried out in pain as she felt a horrible sensation radiate from her shoulder. The grounder raised his knife to slit her throat but Faye had been able to reach for a rock and she smashed it upside his head. He wasn’t down for the count but the hit had been enough to allow her to get out from underneath him and get the sword from the body. Faye quickly hacked at his head until she was certain he would no longer be an issue. Faye looked up in panic, unsure of how much time had passed since she had made her decision to try to save Bellamy. She could be fried in the next minute depending on when they decided to torch everyone. Many of the grounders had started banging on the door of the drop ship in an attempt to break through. Relieved at the distraction, Faye rushed over towards Bellamy. “We need to get out of here,” she said through labored breathing.
The blonde tried her best to help him stand, using her good arm since her shoulder was still on fire. With her luck, she had probably dislocated it. But Faye didn’t have time to worry about her shoulder. She had to worry about keeping her and Bellamy alive. She tried going as quickly as possible towards the tunnel near their camp. Even if they could get inside they had a chance of avoiding the fire. The fire could certainly make its way into the tunnel but it was less likely. At least they had a chance of survival this way. “You okay?” Faye asked, looking over at Bellamy. She tried to focus on him so she could ignore the pain she felt in her shoulder.

The sound of the door opening caused her to stir, but she didn't open her eyes or move. It was probably just Alex and while she wasn't ready to face him, she had also missed him a lot. They hadn't been apart this long since they had met and it was sort of driving Faye inside. It was silly to think about how this person could come into her life and just throw a wrench into everything. It had been forever since Faye had let someone into her life and somehow, he had wiggled his way in so easily. Sighing, Faye snuggled into his shirt and waited for him to come into the other room. Maybe she would get away with him simply crawling into bed and taking a nap with her. Well, a girl could dream.
It was the sound of him yelling that caused her to open her eyes. What the hell was he saying? She wasn't real? He was losing it? Faye quickly sat up in bed and looked at Alex with concern on her face. He looked . . . awful. It looked like he hadn't slept in days and like he had been working himself to the bone. Faye knew he probably hadn't eaten anything either, given the weak sway of his body. He was weak and she could tell. So maybe he was hallucinating because he hadn't eaten. "What are you talking about?" Faye asked, quickly crawling out of bed and walking over to him. Reaching up, her hands grabbed either side of his face. "Alex? I think you need to get some sleep."

| Life on the ground was strange and hard to get used to, but she didn't really have a choice. This was her world now. Faye never thought she would be on the ground so she had never mentally prepared herself for such a reality. She didn't like the uncertainty on the ground. The unknown of whether or not the camp would be attacked by grounders was always lingering and while some decided to ignore that, she couldn't. It didn't matter if her best friend trusted the grounders and believed to have a good relationship with the Commander. It wasn't like Faye didn't trust Clarke, because she did, but she didn't trust the grounders. She thought Clarke's judgement was a little clouded but it wasn't something she was willing to talk to the blonde about. Instead, she focused on living her life at the camp, however boring it may be.
One good thing had come out of crashing onto Earth: Alex. It had been unexpected and out of the blue, but that didn't make it any less important. It had started with the two of them being crushed underneath part of the Ark, both thinking they were going to die if no one could figure out how to lift it off of them. So they had told one another all about their lives. Faye had told him things she had never told anyone, not even Clarke. She didn't know why. There had still been a chance they wouldn't die. But Faye knew there was just something about Alex that she couldn't quite put her finger on. There was something about him that made her want to tell him those things.
Dropping something off in the medical bay had been a blimp on her radar for the day. At least, that's what it had been. Faye turned to leave the medical bay but was stopped by someone shouting her name. Turning, she spotted one of the nurses that worked in medical but she couldn't think of her name. Faye stopped talking and offered the girl a small smile to be polite. "When you see Alex do you think you could tell him the doctor wants to run some tests later?" The woman asked. Faye kept a straight face but her mind was swimming in confusion. What the hell was she talking about? "Sure," Faye answered. "What tests does the doctor want this time?" Her tone was calm. If she was going to get any sort of information out of this woman, she couldn't let her see any hint of fear. Not suspecting a thing, the nurse smiled and even chuckled lightly. "Oh, you know, the usual. Checking in on his lungs and heart to make sure everything is okay. He hasn't had a CT Scan since the Ark but one of the mechanics and engineers finally managed to create a machine for us to run tests again." Faye felt her body stiffen, but she forced herself to smile. "Great. I'll let him know." With that, she turned and left medical.
She was going to throw up. Alex was sick and he had never said anything? And it wasn't even anything new since apparently it had been going on while he was on the Ark. Faye rushed towards their shared living quarters, feeling like the walls were crumbling down on her. This wasn't happening. She couldn't even . . . he couldn't be sick. They didn't have the proper medicine down here to help. Had his symptoms been there the whole time and she just had never noticed? Was she that blind? Glancing at the clock in their apartment, she knew Alex would be returning to their quarters soon so he could change before lunch. She tried to control her breathing but was having a hard time. Leaning against the wall, Faye felt herself slide down until she was sitting on the ground. What the hell was she supposed to do? you promised me you'd be around. |

The sight had shaken her to the core. The sight of mount weather completely destroyed was not something she had expected. Faye had heard the sound of an explosion during her travels, but at no point did she think it could be her final destination. The place she had agreed to go to so she could get some medicine, the medicine that would keep Alex alive. She found the whole thing to be a mess. Not only had he not told her about his illness, but it seemed like he had no intention of telling her. Faye had found out by accident and it had truly crushed her. But after finding out that there was medicine in mount weather that would help keep him alive, she had wasted no time in getting her things together so she could go get it. Faye had no intention of waiting until the next time someone decided to go raid mount weather. She knew farm station was currently staying there, but she didn't want to wait. She just wanted him to get better because . . . she loved him.
Of course, she got lost on the way back to camp. She wouldn't be her if she didn't. Faye was concerned about the grounders, even if there was a small peace treaty for the time being. Faye still didn't trust the grounders, not one bit. So needless to say she had no desire to come across one in her travels. By her count, three days had passed since she had found mount weather, or what was left of it. Luckily she was beginning to recognize certain landmarks. The rock with the funny curve in it and the tree that had a huge burrow underneath it. So needless to say, when Faye finally arrived back at camp she went straight to her apartment she shared with Alex. She was exhausted but also extremely depressed knowing she hadn't been able to get his medicine. She couldn't lose him. He was all she had left.
Faye avoided everyone and anyone as she walked to her apartment. She felt utterly disgusting and needed to take some sort of shower, but she supposed she wasn't as bad as she could be. Opening the door, she looked around, a little relieved that Alex wasn't there. She still didn't know how to tell him she hadn't been able to get the medicine. After a little nap, she would think about it and then she would try to find him. Peeling her clothes from her body, Faye dressed in one of Alex's shirts and crawled into bed. It didn't take long before she fell asleep.

.:Name:. Faye Bates .:Nick Name:. N/A .:Affiliation:. Arkers .:Age:. 21
| ~ • ~ | Appearance | ~ • ~ |
.:Physical Appearance:. Faye has blonde hair and blue eyes. While Faye is pale in complexion, she does not appear sickly due to the lack of sun. Her build is slim and slender, but since her time on the ground she has begun to develop some muscle. She is of average height in general but is considered to be on the taller side for a female. Her blonde hair has a natural wave to it and she often wears it down. Faye has a nasty habit of biting her nails so they are often in rough shape and as short as she can get them. .:Height:. 5'6" .:Portrayed by:. Teresa Palmer
| ~ • ~ | Personality | ~ • ~ |
.:Personality:. Faye can be a little stubborn at times but tries her best to overcome this trait. She's a generally kind person but is also blunt in most situations. This can often make people believe she is a bitch, but she chalks it up to people not wanting to hear the truth. Faye is extremely loyal to those she cares about, and she keeps her inner circle very small since she knows what it's like to have her loved ones taken from her. Sometimes she can be reckless if a loved one is in danger, forgetting about her own safety and the safety of those around her. Once she sets her sights on something, she is determined to finish the task at hand no matter what. Faye is a very logical person which can sometimes make her a little indecisive, but she is often able to make a decision in the end.
.:Special Skills:. She has a knack for thinking things through. She's a great planner and is able to create backup plans for alternate outcomes of certain scenarios. For the most part, Faye is logical and has a good head on her shoulders. She can, however, occasionally be reckless, especially when it comes to those she cares about the most. She is not reckless in the sense that she disregards her own safety, but she forgets about everything else until she makes sure her friend is safe.
| ~ • ~ | History | ~ • ~ |
.:Birthplace:. The Ark .:Family:. Jessica Bates (mother, deceased) and Charles Bates (father, deceased) .:Occupation:. Cafeteria worker .:History:. While giving birth to Faye, her mother developed an infection. Due to the limit on medical supplies per patient, they were unable to fully help her. Faye’s mother lived but battled with illnesses for the rest of her life. Thankfully, Faye was healthy. Her mother spent a lot of time in medical, but there was often nothing they could do for her due to restrictions. During this time, Faye became friends with Clarke Griffin. Faye was a few years older but the two got along great. The girls only continued to grow closer as time went on. Faye was never anti-social but Clarke was probably her best friend. Faye leaned on Clarke when Faye’s father was arrested for stealing and floated soon after that. A few months later, her mother passed away. Faye’s world continued to fall apart, when her best friend was arrested not long after the passing of her mother. Faye had lost everyone she cared about and she was completely alone. Faye was raised on mecha station. Her father worked as a mechanic but was not very skilled in his career, so he never advanced far. Her mother worked as an aid in the cafeteria before she gave birth to Faye. After that, she was unable to continue working due to her illness. Faye began to train as a mechanic like her father, but she had a hard time understanding a lot of things past the basics. Knowing that she was not made to be a mechanic, her mother used her connections in the cafeteria to get Faye a job there. They accepted her due to her mother, but Faye kept her distance emotionally from these people, not wanting to get close to anyone else. Faye hated the pity looks she received after both of her parents passed, and it made it harder working in the cafeteria with people that had adored her mother. Faye primarily kept to herself after Clarke's arrest.
[Note: I have spoken with Clarke about their background and she has okayed the storyline.]
