The Guard maintains security on the Ark and is tasked with enforcing the law and discipline. Their responsibilities include: surprise inspections, arrests, pushing the button to float people, chaperoning events, standing watch during council meetings, general upholding of the law. The weapons they use and are trained with are guns and shock lashers. They have a distinct uniform to quickly identify their position on the Ark. The ranks are as follows (starting from highest to lowest):

• Commander
• Major
• Lieutenant
• Sergeant
• Inspector
• Guardsman
• Cadet

Below are the requirements and training for someone to join the Guard.

• Citizen must be at least 18 years old before enrolling in the Guard's academy.
• Once enrolled, the first 3 years consist of classes (theory based ones such as Earth Skills, history of weapons, etc). Students must maintain a certain average during all courses as the workload is intense and helps weed out those who are not fully disciplined enough to be in the Guard. During this time, students must also gather all the necessary paperwork (i.e. letter of recommendation, etc).
• After 3 years of schooling, they obtain their degree.
• Once they graduate from these classes, they are given the rank of Cadet. They undergo rigorous physical training for 1 year. They must pass all fitness and physical tests in order to be promoted from this rank. It is possible for candidates to fail their year, which will only prolong their Cadet status.
• After 3 years of schooling, and 1 year of Cadets, if all marks and results are satisfactory, citizens are then officially given the title of Guardsman.

The Floukru part with their dead and the dead year in a similar way to the Trikru, thought designed to the base of their society. At the last sunset at the end of the year, they light lanterns on little boats filled with things their deceased loved ones liked or impressions of their year. The current would take the boats out, away from shore, lighting the sea as if it was on fire, just as the sky with it. With the fire they burn away the remnants of pain, regret and hardship of the passing year.
