.:Personality:. Jax is one who gets annoyed very easily and he is not subtle in his showing of it. It often causes him to have a strong aversion to certain people, lacking patience and empathy towards them. Because of this, he can be quite blatantly rude and uncaring. His position in the guard -- and fear of getting floated -- is perhaps the only thing that keeps him somewhat controlled. He does respect the authority he has to answer to in his position, but he also finds ways to provoke others, just within the limits of the law. He doesn't laugh easily unless he's laughing at someone, and doesn't hestiate to throw out hurtful words. Most people have a deep, complex side to them that can only be unveiled when getting to know them . . . but with Jax, everything is on the surface and he despises people trying to get inside his head and heart thinking that there is more to him than what he shows.
.:Special Skills:. He is skilled in his profession, at least in the physical aspect of it. Basic training, hand to hand combat, a good shot. There is nothing overly exceptional about him as he's your average guardsman.

.:History:. He was born into a family that was not overly privileged, but a little more than a middle class family. Because of that, he had a comfortable upbringing. From a young age, he had always acted hostile toward others . . . not always physically but certainly with words. He could be quite easily classified as a bully. His parents often tried to tame him, but his mother was more concerned about it than his father. His father was passive, telling him that he was just being a boy, while his mother tried to be more authoritative with him. In the end, Jax's lacking discipline only led him to continue his actions, walking that very thin line of the law. Despite what his grades suggested, he was not a complete idiot. He had some smarts about him -- more so common sense than anything else.

His mother passed away before he would graduate, and without her to help control their son, his father pushed him toward working in the Guard. It was not a career his father held, but one he felt would benefit his son in channeling all that agression that came from an unknown place and without reason. Jax would do well in this position . . . if it weren't for the academics that came with it. He just barley made it by with his grades, not being the most academic savy person out there. The teachers were perhaps right: if he applied himself, he would do so well. But he didn't. He just managed to scrape by to get into the program.

During the three years of schooling, his father remarried. His step mother was a teacher and so tried to use her skills and expertise to encourage Jax and keep him focused in school. It made him resent her all the more. By some miracle, he did however pass and when he became a Cadet, that was when the real fun began. It was here that he found his comfort and he showed great promise in the field. He graduated within the minimum and was given the official rank of Guardsman. Despite his father and step mother's encouragement to move up in the ranks, Jax has no greater prospects than where he is right now. He has a job. He is content.

Things went from settled to chaotic. With the Ark's failure and everything that ensued after, a greater miracle occured than Jax graduating . . . and that was that he, and both his father and step mother survived the landing to Earth when the Ark went down.
