It was just another day for Raven. Gena was out with a team getting supplies from Mount Weather so nobody was here to talk her down. She had tried, really tried to just ignore the pain and get some sleep but it was impossible. Especially alone at night when there was nothing to distract her, it’s all there was. All that she had left. It’s why she’d ended up here in the middle of the night, with free reign of Gena’s assortment of booze. Raven would apologise later but for now, it was the only sure fire way she could think of to numb the pain. And not just the pain in her leg.
It was getting harder to deal with, but she refused to have anybody touch her. Not even Abby. Raven deserved this, it was her burden to bare after the atrocities she’d committed. The blood on her hands. Their faces visited her at night, in her nightmares to forever haunt her and remind her that she was far from innocent. The grounders at the dropship, her mother…Finn. She destroyed everything she touched. It’s why Raven chose to be alone and pushed everyone away. She couldn’t bare to darken their light. Half a bottle into this endeavour, Raven gave up on using a glass. Instead just taking swigs straight from Monty’s special moonshine. Wincing at the bitter taste, as it burned down her throat. The pain offering the perfect distraction.
As she glanced at the opening to the hanger, Raven could have sworn she’d caught a glimpse of one John Murphy. It wouldn’t be the first time his face haunted her, but usually she’d need to be asleep for that to happen. What was in this stuff? It must have been strong. “Hey Murphy.” She shouted at no one in particular, swaying slightly at standing up too fast. “You here for more target practice?” Sitting back down, Raven took another swig of her drink. Chuckling at how ridiculous she must look talking to her own imagination.

Raven froze the moment she felt someone behind her, turning off the flame and pausing her work. Whoever it was really didn’t understand the concept of personal space. She was just about ready to give this joker a piece of her mind, when he spoke. His voice vibrated through her whole body, she could barely even hear what he actually said. It was the first thing he’d ever said to her and she couldn’t even find the will power to turn around. It was him. And he’d noticed her looking. That was just great. She knew she hadn’t exactly been subtle, but Raven never really expected him to approach her about it. What was she supposed to say?
Finally after an embarrassingly long pause, Raven removed the helmet and turned around. Quickly shuffling back when she noticed their very close proximity to one another and his still very shirtless torso. Reluctantly tearing her eyes away and looking at his face instead, Raven finally found her voice. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Lies. She was so obvious it was ridiculous. But that didn’t mean she couldn’t deny it. Eyeing up the cup suspiciously, she accepted the offer and took a sip. “…thanks.” He might be helping them, but he was still a grounder after all. Raven couldn’t help the distrust she felt. It was deep in her bones now. And it would take a lot more than helping them out with farming some plants for that to change. “I was just admiring….your…craftsmanship.” Another lie. And a bad one too. Come on Raven, get your head in the game.

This was it. All the mind games and manipulations were over. It was finally time for her to show what she was really made of. The second the flag dropped her foot hit the pedal and they were off. No clear winner yet, their cars were side by side, nose to nose. Hmmm…it seemed like maybe he would prove to be some competition after all. “We’ll see about that,” she whispered aloud to herself. Her confidence had not yet wavered. If anything she was excited by this new development. The adrenaline rush was unlike anything she’d ever experienced in her life. Every time she just got ahead, every time he did; it sparked a fire within her. More than just a determination to win. And she loved every goddamn second of it.
As soon as she saw the finish line, Raven chanced a glance to her side to see Murphy pulling ahead. No that wouldn’t do. Frowning, she had to play dirty if she wanted to win this thing. And she did. The rules here were, there were no rules. And now it seemed Raven would have to take full advantage of that. “Forgive me, Dean.” Placing both hands on the wheel, she swerved the car towards Murphy’s, hitting his. It wasn’t hard enough to do any real damage, but it was enough to slow him down slightly and at least disorientate him long enough for her to pull out her secret weapon. After the car was wrecked she hadn’t just rebuilt Dean. With this plan for revenge in mind, she’d added a couple of improvements. Adding a Nitrous Oxide system to her engine being one of them.
Keeping her eyes on the speedometer, as soon as it was fast enough she pressed the nitrous button, giving her the boost she needed. Taking one last glance at her opponent she couldn’t help but throw him a smirk as her car rocketed forward and past the finish line. Victory. It felt even better than she thought it would. She drowned out the sound of the cheering crowd. That’s not what she’d come for. Instead hopping out of her car and leaning on the side. Raven just waited for her now defeated opponent, a smug look on her face that she couldn’t, and hell didn’t really want to remove.

Raven didn’t really know what to do with herself. The king of the ice nation had come to stay in Arkadia to ‘build ties and share knowledge.’ A plan and invitation that Raven had definitely not been a fan of initially. After everything the grounders did to them, especially Azgeda grounders, they were really going to trust them enough to let them into their homes? And not just any grounder, but a damn king grounder. It had bad idea written all over it. Hadn’t there been some kind of Greek story basically warning against bringing the enemy into camp?
Only now that they’d been here for a little while, Raven had to admit…their king, Roan…was a hell of a Trojan horse. He wasn’t the type to hide away and only bark out orders. No, this guy liked to get his hands dirty. He helped with food and hunting, and even helped with building storage spaces for winter. Now, if anyone asked, Raven would sooner blow them up rather than admit she’d been looking at Roan while he worked. She’d also die before admitting to purposefully taking more work orders to reinforce their walls, just so she’d have more chances to check him out. But it wasn’t really her fault. Did he really have to work shirtless?
Every single time he looked anywhere in her general direction she’d avert her eyes like some pathetic school girl and walk away before he could get a chance to approach her, let alone talk to her. It was getting ridiculous really. She was Raven Reyes goddamit. If she wanted something, she would usually just take it. Even now, while she paused in her work to weld the metal of the wall, Raven couldn’t help but watch him as he used an axe to cut the wood for building.
No, while they hadn’t done anything treacherous yet, Raven still didn’t trust him or any of them...it didn’t hurt to look though. Quickly, she put her helmet back on, reluctantly looking at her actual work in front of her as she turned on the flame.

She only got more frustrated as he blatantly ignored her. Speaking over her to the guard behind her. It made her angry. The least she deserved was some answers even if it was just a name. Anything. That anger very quickly turned to blood curdling fear the moment he approached her with the dagger. Wrong answer then? Taking a step back she tried to find a way…any way out of this. Skimming the room, struggling against her ties…there was nothing. She was defenceless and moments from death. After everything she’d been through, this man she’d never met, who didn’t even bother to identify himself would be the end of her. “Hey….HEY WAIT!” The dagger cut through her jacket. She only had moments left before it sliced through her skin. “STOP!”
Squeezing her eyes shut, Raven waited for the contact of the sharp edge of the dagger with a major artery only…that moment never came. When she finally forced herself to open her eyes again, to find that she was alive, Raven realised what he’d done. The grounder had torn away her favourite jacket right off her body. Her expression changed from terrified to confused. What possible purpose could that serve? And why was she still alive? While she didn’t want to question it, Raven craved answers. “I am Roan, King of the Ice Nation.” She finally looked at him, instead of scanning the room. His revelation catching her off guard. She’d assumed he was an authority figure but King? And of one of the most ruthless grounder clans? She was in way over her head. There had to be some kind of misunderstanding. Raven needed to get out of there and fast if she had any hope of staying alive.
Clarke helped him do what now? Every answer he gave her left her with more questions. Only Raven didn’t feel like sticking around to find out just how loyal he was to Wanheda, and how far that loyalty extended. She was still wary of him. His actions and words only continued to confuse her. “Take this.” Wait why was he giving him her now bloodied jacket?...and then his plan slowly dawned on her. “Drop it somewhere at the wall of Arkadia, not at the gate.” Oh god. “Try to be undetected.” Oh dear god no. “And prepare a kart. Our friend Raven will accompany us to our capital.” He was taking her prisoner? She was so overwhelmed Raven barely heard another word he said. A valued guest in his halls? Like. Hell. “STOP IT! OKAY…just stop talking and listen to me.” Looking him straight in the eyes, she tried to control her breathing. “You. Are not taking ‘your friend’ Raven anywhere. I demand you let me go. I demand you let me go RIGHT NOW!” She was freaking out. This couldn’t be happening. “If you're truly loyal to Clarke, or Wanheda or whatever! You’ll take me back to my people.” It was her last ditch attempt at getting out of here. “RIGHT FREAKING NOW!”

“Wow…that’s a lot to process.” Raven had been so detached from all the politics, the new information overwhelmed her. “I’m sorry about Lexa.” It was a lie, such an obvious lie. Raven was only saying it for Clarke’s benefit, because she knew she cared about the commander. But the moment she revealed Lexa’s death something stirred within Raven. Something akin to relief and satisfaction. She was…happy about her death? Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion. For just a moment a memory of Raven begging Clarke to kill her flashed through her mind. It took her off guard and forced her to step back for moment. Just as soon as the painful memory returned, it left her again. The chip working its magic…or rather curse once again.
Stepping forward she took Clarke’s hands in her own, before suddenly letting them go. The contact felt strange and unfamiliar. “Nobody hates you Clarke, at least I don’t.” She said with a smile, hoping to make her feel better. But if she was honest with herself she didn’t really feel anything towards Clarke. All those emotions had been robbed from her by A.L.I.E and her damn chip. “We’ll fix all this, okay? Together. We’ll fix you…and we’ll fix me.” She said, finally revealing that there was something wrong with her, though Clarke had probably already guessed. Jasper could only help her so much, and with Abby preparing to help her remove the chip, Raven was going to need all the help she could get. A.L.I.E wasn’t going to give up easily. As bad as the grounders were…she was so much worse. Because while the grounders could take your life, the bitch in the red dress could take your soul.

“I am pretty sure you’re wrong.” Raven grimaced, not taking too kindly to those words being said...to her. Raven was hardly ever wrong, and the fact that this girl had the….the audacity to think so made Raven all the more determined to be right. It was almost brave really, Gena had guts to think she could prove her wrong. It almost made her admire Gena…almost. “I doubt that, but sure I’ll humour you,” her smile returned, but her eyebrows were raised in speculation. “Cause you’re cute,” she said with a little smirk, teasing the bar tender. She was though, almost too cute. This girl had to be hiding something. And Raven would find out what.
All those doubts were very nearly purged from her mind the moment Gena mentioned chocolate cake. “Cake?” Raven perked up. “I’m listening.” There was no way she was going to pull a cake out of….oh dear god. She wouldn’t have believed it if it wasn’t right before. Gena…had…cake. “It looks just like the pictures.” She whispered more to herself in disbelief. Hearing about cake in Mount Weather was nothing compared to actually seeing it. The smell…it was unlike anything she’d ever experienced before. Her hand raised, ready to just swipe a little bit of the cream...before she froze. “What’s the catch?” Massages? A shoulder to cry on? There was no way Gena was doing all of this to be helpful. People just weren’t that nice. At least not in Raven’s past experience. This girl wanted something from her. And if she was prepared to bribe her with cake…then it must be something big…and bad.

“Well then I know I’m in good hands,” she said with a smile, straining against the crutches as she leaned more on Clarke. As soon as they got to medical she sighed in relief at finally resting on the bed. The physical exertion took a lot out of her. But as always she put a brave face on, trying to hide from Clarke the true extent of how much her injuries had affected her. The pain was getting harder and harder to ignore, most of it was concentrated on where they had drilled into her shins. But the more the medication started to wear off, the more she became aware of the pain radiating from her hip. It was only growing stronger, but Raven was not going to complain and use up all their resources. There were others who needed them more.
“My leg’s already messed up, how much worse could it get,” she said with a hollow chuckle. “And besides, any damage caused would be worth it. Because it meant stopping you from doing something stupid…like leaving.” On the last word, she hissed as she moved her leg to the side in an attempt to get more comfortable, hoping Clarke didn’t notice. “See now you have to stay, you’re my doctor. I need you.” She smirked as she spoke, obviously using her current condition as leverage in an attempt to ensure Clarke would stay. And knowing Clarke it would probably work. “Who else am I supposed to trust to get me all better? Huh, doc?”

Raven silently listened as she explained why she didn’t want Finn to know about her pregnancy just yet. It was sound reasoning. She was fully aware of the many risks a pregnancy entailed. And who really knew how Finn would react. But…despite all the pain he’d put her through since she got to the ground, he was her best friend, her family. She wasn’t sure if she could keep this from him for so long. “I understand Clarke, it’s your decision.”
She took a moment to reflect on her choice. Because sure Finn was her best friend, but the promises she’d just made to Clarke meant something to her. She was a woman of her word. They weren’t hollow. With these kids...Clarke was her family too now. “If that’s how you feel then…I wanna wait too.” It wouldn’t be easy, seeing Finn every day and keeping this massive secret from him. But he would surely forgive her. Dammit he sure as hell owed her that. “I meant it when I said I choose you Clarke, whatever we do…we do together.” And that included telling the father of their children. Raven gladly put all her faith in Clarke, but Finn? Maybe a year ago there would be no doubts about how he’d react, but now, after that trust was broken there was no way to be sure. She loved him, but she had to put her child...their children, first. “What about your mom? She knows about mine…are you gonna tell her about yours?” Another important person in Clarke’s life. And this time it was just Clarke who had to decide.

She was doing it again. Concern filling her voice and words for everybody else, when she should only be taking care of herself. Raven couldn’t help but smile at her selflessness. A quality in a person she thought she’d lose forever. Wiping any remaining tears from her face, she sat up. “Shhh stop, everyone’s going to be okay.” She said her hand squeezing Gena’s to reassure her. “Bellamy’s on his way back now, the assassin that…hurt you was sent by the ice nation.” They were the orchestrators behind the whole attack, ready to blow them all up for a crime they didn't commit. It was ruthless and cowardly. And they had almost succeeded. Raven shuddered at the thoughts of 'what if.' “Without you, we’d all probably be dead.” Herself included.
“You don’t need to worry about that stuff now okay? I’ll take care of everything.” It’s what friends were for after all. All Gena should be concentrating on was getting better. Her injuries were…extensive to say the least. And if she wanted to make a full recovery she needed to avoid anything that could bring her stress. Which, knowing Gena, may be a problem. “You’re all that matters right now,” Raven said with a small smile hoping to remind Gena that at this moment, she held all of Raven’s concern. “How are you feeling?” Slowly, with one hand in hers, Raven used her other hand to grab a small cup of water on the table next to her, bringing it to Gena’s lips, remembering the doctor’s orders to keep her hydrated now that they were in the clear after the surgeries.

She could already imagine it happening. The smiles on people’s faces, the reunions, the happiness that would spread the moment Clarke walked through those gates. And soon all that would be a reality. She was an integral part of their community, a leader, hell she saved them all in more ways than one. Her loss was felt by everyone, just as her return would be. Raven didn’t doubt that for a second, and soon Clarke would feel the same way. Either that or she’d just have to see it for herself when she inevitably returned to camp.
Raven strained to sit up and lean forward, moving her legs out of the way to allow space for Clarke to sit on the bed, motioning for her to join Raven as she groaned at the movements. Holding Clarke hands in her own she paused for a moment. “Look at me Clarke, you may be a lot of things but you’re no coward.” She had flaws that was for sure, but one thing Raven was sure of was her bravery. “What you did…it’s one of the bravest acts I’ve ever, and probably will ever see.” Her mention of nightmares hit her hard. Something they had in common. “I know, if we’re together we can stop those nightmares from ruling our lives.” Not completely, but at least keep them at bay. With every word Raven felt her vulnerability showing, revealing just how desperately she’d missed Clarke and needed her to return home. "I promise...I'll help you fight them, we all will."

His words were strangely softly spoken but there was no denying the seriousness of his threats. They sounded more like promises. He was still obviously a grounder after all. They were ruthless and no strangers to violence. Why should he be any different? And being tied up, Raven wasn’t exactly in any position to fight back. It would mean only certain death. There was being bold, and then there was being stupid. And she didn’t want to die today, which was a definite possibility, considering where she was. Her best bet was finding an opportunity to escape. And since no such opportunity presented itself, she guessed she would just have to play along.
The right answer? What the hell did that mean? Her life depended on if he knew her or not? And then she understood. Wanheda. While she tried to bury herself in work and not involve herself in politics, which was damn near impossible, there was no denying that name. It was Clarke. The friend she hadn't spoken to or seen in god knows how long. And now Raven was counting on her to be the reason she wouldn't get killed. Well here goes. Hopefully she was the right person.
Defeated, after a long pause filled with deliberation she spoke. “I’m Raven Reyes,” Disdain dripping off every word. “Who the hell are you?” He was obviously someone of power. A clan leader perhaps. He had an aura of authority about him and the guards he’d sent out followed him without question. She hated to admit but beneath the crippling fear of death, it intrigued her. He intrigued her. But what could he possibly want with her? That question alone forced her previous fears to come rushing back filling her entire body as Raven once again struggled against the ties that bound her.

It was finally time. After what felt like ages of planning and building and planning all over again they had finally built designs that satisfied her. They’d spent countless hours trying to figure out how best to fix the thrusters and Kyle had played a huge part in that success. Though she’d never say it to his face. The nerves started to build within her as she started to install them. Usually she was never nervous. Always confident in her abilities to get whatever job that needed doing done. And done right. But this job meant a lot more to her. This job was personal.
It was her chance to prove herself to the other mechanics and even the engineers that despite her young age, she belonged there. And deserved to be there. Once she went through all the safety procedures of undocking, Raven practically ripped her space suit off and ran towards Wick. The butterflies in her stomach morphing into pterodactyls. She smiled genuinely at him when he offered her the button to press. Technically her job was done, but she appreciated the sentiment. The fact that he was acknowledging how important this particular job was to her. Her smile turned into a sarcastic one as he continued. There he was, the Wick she knew. As if she could screw up something so simple.
Taking a deep breath she took one last nervous glance at him, her hand hovering over the button. “Here goes.” The moment of truth. The second her hand made contact with the it she scrunched up her eyes, too afraid to look. Oh god what if it didn’t work? What if all the hours and the hard work they’d put into it, was for nothing? Maybe she didn’t belong….her train of thought was interrupted at the sound of whirring and creaking coming from just outside. The thrusters….were turning on? Opening her eyes she looked down at the controls. “Full capacity! YES!” They worked! Goddammit she was awesome! “WE are awesome!” She felt so overwhelmingly happy she didn’t know what to do with herself. Turning she put her arms around Wick, hugging him for all she was worth. Because right at that moment there was nobody else on the entire ark she would rather share this moment with.
Releasing him slightly, but keeping her arms around his shoulder Raven smiled the widest smile she’d ever had on her face. “Thank you for doing this, for helping me.” Well, that was a first. Gratitude had never been a skill of hers, especially when it came to Wick. But this was a special occasion. As the seconds passed, she became acutely aware of their close proximity to each other. She should really let go of him. Only she didn’t, she couldn’t. Taking one last look into his eyes, her own flickered down to his lips, as she slowly sealed the distance between them with a soft kiss. Maybe later she would convince herself it was a heat of the moment type thing. That she was just grateful. But even Raven wasn’t that good of a liar. And this certainly hadn’t been the first time she’d wondered what it would be like to feel his lips on hers.

WOOT! Here it is!
Every touch left a burning trail over her body, it left her all but breathless. It was like her first time all over again, only without the awkward teenage boner, performance issues under pressure, and lack of experience. She clung to him for dear life when he lifted her, her legs wrapping tightly around his waist, as he finally carried her to his bed.

She stood there waiting patiently for him to either make a move or make her leave. But instead he did neither and just spoke instead. Despite his words, she knew what he was doing. He was giving her an out, a chance to think about how ridiculous this was and leave of her own accord. Forgetting any of this had ever happened. But it wasn’t a refusal either. He wasn’t rejecting her, just giving her choice. Only she’d already made that choice. Raven was not backing out now. It was reckless, and for all the wrong reasons, but it was her last ditch attempt to feel something outside of bitterness and heartbreak.
“Good,” she stated, sealing the deal, before finally moving towards him. Putting her hands on either side of his face, she crushed her lips against his. Her face was cool and confident but her heart thumping hard and fast in her chest betrayed how she really felt. Eagerly she helped pull off his shirt, craving the contact, the illusion that somebody wanted her. Even if it wasn’t true, even though this was purely physical, she could still pretend. Only already she could tell every little thing that was different. His hands, the way he held her, even the feeling of his lips against hers was strange. But it still felt so damn good. A different kind of good. It was exhilarating. All of these sensations were new to her.
