He asked what the people expected of him. "No one will mourn her." Echo told him, knowing that when you were that blood thirsty and cruel in your rulings; you didn't get friends at your grave crying. Nia had been cold, and she had burned very bridge she could find. There was no one out there that would miss her. The part he should wonder, was who saw the new king as weak, or unable to escape his mother's shadow. He needed to be firm, but not evil in his first few days. If he didn't display power soon, then the people would be restless.
"Kill him." Echo told him, though not an order. She wanted to kill him herself, if she got the chance. But he was't thinking about what he needed to do to get the people to follow him. He was thinking too small! Echo knew she could not speak out against him, but he needed to show them he could rule. "Ontari needs to be trained, and reigned in. If you want the next commander to be Azgeda then we need to start now. The people need to see that you are still moving toward that plan, and they will not be under the rule of that coward of a commander forever."

He wasn't going to tell the others. That was a surprise, though she didn't show it. They would be more likely to trust her if they didn't know her part in their friend's deaths. She wondered if he expected a thank you for that. She wouldn't offer it right now, as things were too high stakes for them. Perhaps when things were more settled. For now she would only accept it.
"I would have you understand, for my part." Why she'd done it. "Nia coveted Lexa's power, so once years ago, she kidnapped Lexa's lover and tortured her for information on Lexa. To make Nia submit, Lexa faught a war and won. She banished Roan to punish Nia." That was the backstory. Echo shifted her weight, a small sign that this wasn't comfortable for her. "Nia was angry, and curl in her ruling. There were some that worked to undermined her. I was one of them. My loyal reminded to my price, and I was his spy by his mother's side." Something she had never said allowed to anyone, but she needed him to understand--she had tried to save him.
"She wanted the alliance broken between Skikru and the Commander. When you kept it, even after The Commander betrayed you, Nia was furious. Her plan was to make you turn on each other. If I hadn't gone, she'd had sent someone else, and you'd all would have died anyway. I did it to make sure I got you and your sister out. I owed you that." The others had to die however. They had long fought Ice Nation, and if she failed then Nia would have known Echo to have betrayed her. She would have been ruthless in her revenge.

Echo slowly approached Bellamy and he asked her if she was ready. That surprised her but she didn't let it show. She was surprised that he was willing to speak to her after what she had done. Echo hadn't liked it, and she had made sure that he and his sister had been out of their before it blew up. They had been the cost that she wasn't willing to have on her. Him for her debt to him, and his sister because of who she was to him. If Nia knew she had deliberately saved them, she would have been in a rage.
"I would speak with you before we go." She knew she had asked this of him last time they'd met too. This time her words where her own, and not an order given. "About why I betrayed you." She had reasons, and she believed in them. She stood by them even. She couldn't have refused to do it. Nia would have had her killed, or taken noticed of her loyalty--and either way she would have made someone else do it, and they might have not kept him alive. She had to be the one, and she had to see it done.

She understood that this was a something she had to do, even if she didn't understand how this thing that might happen could kill them all. Her king said they were going, and no one among her people was a better scout. She had learned to travel unseen, and quickly when spying on Nia for Roan. Echo was willing to do her part in helping--she just had to wonder if she would live to see the end of it. The Sky People had been known to be bloody, and their range of what had been done had claimed many lives. Now she would be going with three of them to unknown places, where anything could happen. While she knew nothing of the other two, she knew Bellamy. She knew that he had given his word on bringing down the Mountain, and he had kept it. If he choose, she would not make it back. Which was why she was grateful--though she would never show it because that was a weakness she would not expose--that Roan had also been asked to go with the group.
Most of her troubles would come from Bellamy. If he choose he could make this easier or harder for her. His choice would affect the other's too. She had watched the Sky People enough to know that if he gave an order, there were many that would obey. She would need to deal with this before they set out, or risk walking into something unknown--and Echo didn't do the unknown.
The doctor, Jackson they called him, looked unimposing enough. Tall and thin, there wasn't much build to him. She would wage that he had little if any training in fighting, which would be to her advantage if things turned for the worst. He was one of their healers, and Nyko had spoken highly of him when she had over heard one conversation. She wouldn't turn her back to him, but she didn't see him as a threat. The same could not be said of the other Skyman. Wick they called this one. He had a slight more build to him, but she didn't understand his job. She didn't trust what she didn't understand. This one would need to be watched.
She didn't look away from the persons speaking, or give a sign that she reacted outwardly to any of the news. The Azgeda didn't so weakness, and reacting to the news would be such a thing. Instead she stayed still, and stoic, even while she tried to figure out if this was their chance to save the peoepls, or get even with her. Either way, for the first part of their journey she would need to make sure to keep her eyes opened, and mind clear.

He asked her if Lexa could have done that to everyone. No, but he didn't seemed to understand. For them, disloyalty was unheard of. It left you out cast and with death over you. No one would rebel. They just didn't do it. Besides, most of the people there had been Trikru. Her people. They would not disagree with her. She said nothing, knowing that either way her answer would not give him what he wanted to hear. They were not like the SKykru. She was coming to respect their way of unity without obeisance.
"For my people, blood must have blood. She denied us our right to fight our enemies. She yeided to them." Echo hated her for that. She knew some wanted her dead for the insult. The rare ones who did disobey. She would not speak of them however, because until Alekay was ready then the less who knew his plan the better. She would not betray a friend--she wasn't Lexa. "I was sent here to spy on your people. I will not betray your actions in the mountain. I will report nothing that can bring harm on your people." She was telling him this so he would know not to tell her too much. The less she knew, the less she had to hide. "I will not be the only one sent. Every nation is looking at you now. They don't know if they should fear the man who brought down he mountain, or if you are able to kill them too."

Echo watched as Nia and the others debated, and worked toward peace. Nia would not give peace without a price. She needed to feel as if she was gaining something, rather then give up something. Her price was small in the terms. She wanted her son to have some power in the Skyvilliage. She wanted to be able to see what they were up to, and doing. "No?" she questioned, arrogance and anger in her tone. "You have but one in your camp that would be suitable for someone of our people, and you tell me no?"
If there was ever one thing that Nia hated, it was to be told no. It made her want it more and she was violent in wanting it. "I assume you have something better in mind, if you refuse me the one thing I ask for?" It hadn't been just one, just Echo knew she was trying to back them into a corner. She would have one of her people in their camp, no matter what she had to do it get it. She would want to know the inter workings of it. She might even settle for one of their people staying here at first, though she would press them to return home so her spy could go there.
I forgot what I was supposed to do, so let me know if I missed up!

Not her queen. Not after what she had to do in order to stay by the woman's side. It was a painful reminder of the loyalties she did have to break in order maintain the level of trust that Nia had bestowed in her. The Skypeople had brought down the mountain--the foes that had shown Echo what hell looked like--and in return she had been forced to lead them into a trap. One that didn't even work. A failed plan. "Not my queen," Echo reminded him, for she had remained loyal to but one in this. Her king.
He spoke of trying to decide on what to do next, and Echo had to be honest. "There has been enough planning to kill her in these lands. Let it be." She couldn't order him, and her while her words were a statement, they were not an demand. "You mother made enough enemies that we should not make more. Ontari, and the mountain man are still here. If you do turn your back on them to look at the coward of a commander then you will find one of them at your back with a knife." His people were restless. A war they been forced to ready for never happened, and if he took them to a war they couldn't win then he would be the one they laughed at--not Lexa. "They will betray you in the end."

He moved closer to her and kissed her. Unlike the other kisses she had been given before, this was softer and less passionate--it was emotional and she'd never been kissed like that. It was an odd thought but the kiss wasn't odd. It made her breath catch and for Eco to want more. But he apologized. He didn't want this? No, he must. He looked at her the way she looked at him. They looked at each other like they wanted more but knew it couldn't happen. "Don't." She told him, "Don't apologize for that."
Echo leaned forward and kissed him first this time. She wanted this. She wanted to feel close to him, even if it was just once. Everything she did had her lieing to someone--everyone but him. He was her selfish part. The one she didn't lie too. She wanted to leave everything at the opening of the cave and come here just as Echo, and just as Bellamy. Pulling from the kiss she looked into his face. "I shouldn't want this, but it's all I think about. Of when we meet next. Of the stole hours in the cave." And she didn't want to leave but she had too. Nia could attack at nay moment and she was the only thing keeping it from happening. Making sure his--and his people--were forewarned of everything Nia did.

The commander was who Nia hated, and the fact that Lexa put the sky people o high above the others, plus with how Lexa had been unable to defeat then was what made Nia hate them even more. Nia wanted the Ice Nation's rule and she had a plan in place to do it. She hadn't expressed this to Bellamy yet, because for right now, Nia wasn't using the nightblood. One day she would, but right now he was looking at her, and thanking her, and Echo didn't want his thanks. She wanted something that she knew she couldn't have.
She wasn't doing this for his people, she did it for him. Her people and his were fighting, but Echo believed he had honor. She would not replay honor with betrayal. Her eyes stared at him, while she was silent for a long moment. Only looking into his face and wishing that they were both of the same people, and this was simple. But they were not, and this wasn't. "I don't do this for your people," She told Belomi, "I do this for you." Because she had come to care for him more then she did her Nia and the Ice Nation. "Because I will not let your honor be repaid with Nia's hate." Because she cared for him. Words she couldn't say.

Echo watched his face as he explained, and she wasn't sure if she agreed or not but she was fascinated by that idea. If she was trying to gather information to bring his people down then that would be a down fall for them. But she wasn't. He trusted her not to go to Nia with anything she use use against him and his people; and she wasn't going to betray that trust. Even if this friendship could never be long term (unless Nia died), Echo would still hold true to that.
"That is not how it is done here." She told him, but then kept thinking about how she would risk it all if he was taken by her people. Echo wasn't sure which was the better way any longer. She looked down at his weapon, before looking back at him. "There is many differences between my people and yours." Weapons, politics, and event he foods they ate. Echo had never touched a gun before, and she never would. It took away the effects of the kill. Made it too easy, and killing wasn't supposed to be easy. "Nia will never let there be peace." She said it off highhandedly, and almost regretful. Echo wanted the peace, and this he knew.

Echo liked it when he smiled. He was a awarrior she knew, and he didn't often smile or show emotion. He was like her. Echo didn't know if this was who he was or who he was after he had killed so many; but when he smiled he seemed another person. He said he had a few hours, and Echo nodded. "My people will not coming looking for me. They don't even know where to find me." Because unlike his, they didn't risk all for one. Unless Nia willed it, and Nia would not do anything more then be annoyed with her for dying.
No one would care when she died, and Echo knew that way was best. His people risked too much for one. Still, she liked the way they did it. It fascinated her. "Why do your people risk so much to find you?" She asked, "They will risk the lives of ten to look for one." Echo had never asked him, but she wanted to understand him. Wanted to understand his people. Her eyes roamed over his face, while she thought about how she had tried to get back to the mountain for him. She would have gone back in to help him fight. Risking her life for his one. Honor. But maybe something more now.

Echo watched him walk in, and after making sure he was alone she walked out of the darkness and over toward him. When he looked at her she felt a stiring, but she had spent her whole life thinking that showing any sort of emotion was a weakness, and didn't give into it. Still, she was pleased to see him and keeping her smile from her face was impossible when he offered her a gift. "Thank you," she said as she pulled the top off and smelled it first. Habit. She wanted to know what she was drinking. Not from distrust, but because she had learned that Sky People didn't often know what was safe and what was not. She had heard from the Tree People about the nuts they didn't know make them see things.
After drinking some of it she looked over at him. "Your people are learning how to use the fruits quickly." It was a complement, the drink was good. Not one her people had right now. Pity. She couldn't take this back, but perhaps one day. When Nia's rule was offer. Walking closer to him she knelt down beside him, and looked at his face. "How long do you have?" He didn't have the freedoms she did. If he didn't go back his people would come looking for him. They risked everything for one life--it was a concept that was hard for her to understand but she was coming to admire it. Her people would assume her dead; his would begin a manhunt.

Echo was a scout and spy for Nia (which was ironic because she was also spying on Nia for others as well), so it was rather easy to leave alone and without explaining where she was going. Echo was a trusted one. Nia trusted her with more then the others, and this gave Echo some freedoms, and she abused the hell out of them. It took her a day to get to the care, and she didn't take a horse because she knew it was too easy to track. Once in the tunnels (not that reapers were less of an issue) she was able to travel to him faster.
Him. Recently she had sought out Belomi, and made sure that he knew she had not wanted to leave him there, and gave him information on the Ice Nation. He had the job of mapping out the north, so she often met him to help him and to make sure that he didn't run across the Ice Nation warriors. Echo go to the cave where they often met, and saw she was there first. Moving to the shadows, she wanted for him. Over the past meetings, and in the mountain, they had grown close. Nia's hate wouldn't allow them to be openly friends, but for him it was wroth the risk.

She had not gone with Nia to Polis. Had the skykru been there and knew who she was then it could have taken away from Nia's plot--so Echo was ordered to stay behind. While normally she wouldn't have cared--she knew that Nia saw her as one of the most trusted of the ice nation--knowing that the coward commander held the prince made her uneasy. Nia was not going to be pleased over this, and there was no way to warn Roan she was coming.
And warning Roan--or like keeping him abreast of his mother's actions--was Echo's purpose for staying so close to Nia. Yet that was before. Echo strode down the hall, and pushed the door opened to the room at the end. She had been out of the city for the morning, but as she arrived it was just in time to see ash getting officially crowned. King. Nia was dead. Her years as service was over. Stepping back out into the hall, she let that finally sink in.
It was later that day that Echo once again walked in the throne room, this time Roan was alone. Walking forward she dropped to one knee to bow to her new king before standing back up to face. She wasn't sure what to say in this moment, but the relief of finally being out of Nia's control was great. She had both done too, and forced Echo to do evil things, but to serve the prince (not King) she was loyal too, she had done them.

Echo watched his body move, and the training of a warrior could tell what he was doing. He didn't have a reason to trust her, but he stopped to hear her. Another mark of honor that she would give him, and that was something she valued highly. "You kept your word, and I was prevented from keeping mine." She began, knowing that she had to explain. "The commander ordered the ones who wished to stay to be bound." She had not wished to leave them. "The mountain was our enemy and she betrayed her allies to them." The ice nation was not happy with this, Nia would not let this rest for long. She would begin putting a plan in motion, and she would make sure it was the final move.
Who was telling him this so he knew that she didn't agree with the weak actions of a coward. She had not just left him there to die. But he had not died--he had brought down the mountain, and had killed every one of them. As he had vowed. She wasn't sure what would happen now, NIa was angry, and she hated the sky people and the tree people. She only saw value in the ice nation--Echo had too until he showed her they did have honor.
