His words of 'blood much have blood' where very true. "And now our common enemy has fallen, and we have only each other." Meaning they used to fight with each other to deal with a bigger enemy, but now they had nothing to unit them, and much to stand between them. She wanted a war, but could not be vocal about it, even among her people. Just because she was grateful to the Sky Person, didn't mean she could be taking sides over them. The only unease between them was that the Tree commander had left the field, and shown weakness to her enemies. That wasn't enough for a war. If there was another insult however . . . .
'Most of them' he admitted of his friends, and she knew the truth to them. Not all of her people had left either. 'Lets take a walk', were his next words, and Echo looked over at his people behind their wall. Their cold weapons still held in their hands as if they would shoot if she moved too quickly around him. "I know if a place good to find blackberries near here. I will show you." She stepped back from him and turned to the woods to walk away, only looking from his men at the last moment.
Echo began leading them away, knowing the place she spoke of was an hour walk. She didn't speak until they were under the cover of the tree line, then she reached under her cape and pulled out his tracking chip. "They came looking to bleed more of us, and I hide it to keep them from knowing you were gone." She explained, handing it to him, "Then I used to to make sure she knew your scent." She didn't explain that more, other then to pull the hands that had been hidden out, and in it was a bag that she held cradled in her arm rather then hanging from it. Passing it to him. Inside was a gift. "Only great warriors can tamp such beasts, and you have proven to be such, Bellamy of the Sky People."

Do not kill them? Echo watched him as he spoke, for once grateful he spoke too much. At first her face was one of anger as she was ready to fight, however has he spoke her face feel into surprise, and perhaps even a bit of confused awe. The Sky People could undo what the mountain had done? He told her to move, and began toward the door but it took her a few moments to begin moving as well. Not kill them. Save them. Save everyone!
Moving to his side she reached out to grab his arm, not in anger but to halt him. Then she looked back at her people and spoke in a voice full of command. She told them not to kill the reapers, to defend and make them sleep only! That the Sky People would undo the madness! Then she told them to ready themselves for the journey, for the fight, for the feel of the sun, and what she hoped would lead to showing the mountain they were not afraid of them! That blood would have blood! They would unit and defend and defeat!
Her people's body language changed from eager to anticipation. They came alive, even weak as they were, and ready to run and fight! Turning to the Sky Person, she let him go. "To freedom or death, Bellamy of the Sky People, we will follow you!"

Since he didn't take her up on her offer to sit, Echo pushed to a stand so they were on the same level. She wasn't going to hold a conversation about weapons with one side towering over the other--even with her trust of this one. He went to explain with too many words again, and she didn't even mind. The more he talked the more she trusted his words. Because she kenw what was happening in his head. He didn't want weapons, because he liked his own. "If I kill someone, Sky Person, it will be by my hands. Not worlds away where I don't have to see their face." It was wrong to kill with no cost. She hated their guns. A coward's weapon.
"If you give em your word they will never be used to take a life, I will make you what you wish. With out the need for them returned." She trusted his word, and was willing to trust it in this, which could be a regret later if he broke his word. "I would need supplies from you first." That was the hardest part. "Then I will show you how it's done." So eh could make his own later.
Her tone was still light, almost a laugh. She trusted him, even without his word. She would help make sure this winter was easy for them this way. She might even give them more advice--like it would be easier still to collect dried leaves after the falling. They burned well, and could help start fires, or turn them up for more warmth.

The Sky Person had come back. He had opened the cages that held them, and was going to lead her people to freedom. The Sky Person. Whom she had always seen as her enemy. As the unintelligent fool. She had seen them all that way. Annoyances who thought they lorded over everything, and had no concepts of honor. . . . . and he'd come back.
It was cold, but her heart beat too fast for her to notice. "We fight when the Sky Person says we fight!" She told the others in their own language. "In this we trust them. This one we will follow!" The crowd seemed to agree, and they stayed quite but their bodies said they were try to try and fight. Yet many were weak, and in this fight many lives could be lost--but they were warriors! They would rather die int he fight then in the cage.
Shortly after, he returned. Walking toward her with urgency. As promised, she had made sure nothing happen to his people, both from the mountain men and her own people who might still be seeing the Sky People as enemies. He asked if they were ready, while handing her a weapon. It was lighter then she was used too, but it would do well! Echo had picked up the small blade that Lovejoy had tried to use on Bellamy, but not she passed it off to another in favor of the larger weapon. "There are many weak, but you will find us ready."
Her people were helping in the mines. "Reapers fill the mines." She warned him, "They will not be easy kills." Reapers were once of her people, and not were walking bodies that hunted without mercy. And her people were the ones waiting for them there. It was a dead place, filled only with the dead.

It counted for something, he claimed, and Echo didn't bother trying to look pleased or react to it in any way. Of course it counted for something. Sky People were always saying what was already known. It normally would have brother her, and she would have told him to talk less, but she had respect for this one. He could talk more if he needed the words said allowed.
"She made her choice to let her enemies take the field. The Ice Nation is not as forgiving." But he wanted to know what would happen. This she did not know. There was both sides being weighted. On one hand, they were freed, but the deal with the men who were killing them was a high price to pay when they could have won the war. "The nations are unsettled, but the choice is not mine to make." Meaning she didn't know what would happen, but she knew what she wanted to happen.
Echo looked back at the gate, and spoke while taking in the sight of his people's displeasure at being out here with her. "There is much distrust, and hate between all sides now." Looking back at him she kept speaking. "Did you save your people . . . . your friends?" She knew the stories, but wanted to know from him the truth to them.

Echo sat back with her feet up on a rock before her, as she bit into an apple. One of the elders were telling a story to the young ones about a warrior who had defeated a mighty beast. Echo liked the story, for it had been a favorite of hers when she was yet too young to take up fighting for her people. She wasn't a second, but her skill, bravery, and unwillingness to to be defeated had lead many to listen when she spoke. Even follow her orders--like in the mountain, when she demanded they be silent or dead.
Her smile faded, and her eyes became unseeing as she got lost in her mind for a moment. Of the honor of that place. So many faces to never leave it. The smell. The sounds. The darkness . . .
The jostling of people blinked her out of it, and she wanted as everyone was moving about quickly. "What as happened?" She asked a passerby, who told her that they had caught a Sky Person, and could now use him to find out if the Sky People sought revenge for the actions of that day. It had been a fear among the clans. Sky People brought down the mountain without the gain of the clans, and that had lead to them being feared, and seen as dangerous. Pushing to a stand, she turned to run toward the other end of the village to see what was happening.

Clearly the Sky People who guarded the gate did not like their leader leaving the safety of their false barrier, and Echo's eyes did not leave them until she had to look away. Her expression wasn't smug, but it was confidant and sharp. He lead her closer to the woods, and she found herself able to relax some since she was no so close to their guns.
'You have my attention.' Sky People, always stating what everyone already knew. He went on to tell her that he saw no debt owed, and her lip curled for a moment in displeasure. "I did." She admitted, not about to dismiss her risk of saving his life. It wasn't boastful, just a fact. "And you gave your word to return, and proved yourself an honorable man when you kept it. Everyone in there owes their life to the man who brought down the mountain." Which was why she was here. Because they had been forced to be dishonorable, and it did not sit well with her.
"Which is why I have come. I would not have left you there had I been given choice. The ones who resisted leaving, were forced to leave by the commander's orders." And she had been too weak to fight. "Leaving was a coward's move, and my people are displeased with having our hand forced." This she only admitted to him, here, were non could hear.

His voice made her look up from lacing the leather straps around the hilt of a dagger she was fixing. Echo sat before a small fire legs tucked in and crossed, as she worked on the mindless task in order to keep her head free from the reminders of that had been done to her recently. Just because things ended well, dind't mean the ghost disappeared.
Still, there would be no ghost without Bellamy, because she would have been dead. So she would accept the unsettledness, and seek to move forward. He was almost smiling at her, and it made her almost smile back. "If you are asking for a weapon, Bellamy of the Sky People, I would make you anything . . . " Her tone stayed joking, but her words rang true, "But I am not going to arm the people who were enemies but a few dawns ago." A truce might be called, but there was still some tense moments. She would help them with food, water, even learning to survive out here--because Bellamy had saved her and her people, and kept his word. She would do it so that she could pay the debt he had asked her of--to protect his friends, and allow them to thank each other when they were out. This was her thanking. Helping his people when she could have returned to her own. "I would do much for you, Sky Person, but I have my limits."
She didn't let her tone be hateful, for she hated to deny a request from someone she owed so much too, but she would not let graduate of today be a retreat of tomorrow. Gesturing to a place around the fire before her, she invited him to sit.

This whole world was changing, and not all for the better. She was used to death, fighting, commanding--and which each of these things came choices of making sure her people survived. Yet this time, the cost had been one she was unwilling to pay, but pay it she had been forced to do. Approaching the metal cage that the Sky People thought protected them so well, Echo of the Ice Nation paused her steps, keeping her hood low so they would not know which one of them she watched. Already they were approaching their gate and raising their weapons.
A fools weapon. No honor in a gun. If you took a life, you should bare the weight of that action by doing it with your own hands. These weapons were of cowards. She demand they bring the one called Bellamy to the gate, and she would approach no longer until he was there. They took their time about it--Sky People always took their time. Finally he came though, armed as she had not seen him before. Dressed in the code of his people, and with his own gun. 'What do you want' he demanded, and her shoulders tensed. Had he been any other Sky Person, she'd have killed him for the disrespect.
It was no other. It was the one who had saved her. Who had left a promise, and kept a promise. . . . and in return she had left him to die with his people. Though he had called them friends and not people. Lifting her head so her face could be seen better, she reached her free hand up (the other concealed under the layers of cloak and robe she wore) and pulled the hood back. "I am Echo of the Ice Nation, and I have come to have a word with you . . . Bellamy of the Sky People." One she could not leave unsaid.
"I will come no closer to your cage." She was a few dozen yards out, just enough that they had to speak up to hear but not enough to yell. "Come out, and you have my word that I am not here to cause more trouble between our people. I owe you a debt and I would not repay it by causing you harm." But nor was she going to speak freely were his people could hear and make their judgments.
