Monty listened as Gena explained the books with interest, they sounded amazing. A school for witches and wizards, with magical powers... He wondered what else the books had to offer and he was definitely interested in finding out. "They sound awesome!" he told her, glad that she'd brought him something to do, chess was fun but there was only so many times that you could play chess before you became bored with it. The books that she'd brought sounded much more entertaining. He'd never heard of Harry Potter before, but Monty could already tell that he'd enjoy reading the books and even watching the movies, although he already suspected that he'd enjoy the books a lot more. He enjoyed reading, he just never really found books that he enjoyed often, it sounded as though Gena had found just the thing to reignite his love for reading.
"We can read and watch together, right?" he asked, knowing that these things were more enjoyable when you had a friend by your side to share in the fun. She'd said that watching the movies could take hours, spending hours watching movies could get dull if he didn't have someone to watch with and Gena sounded as though she could explain something to him if he got confused about anything. "Snack?" the word caught his attention almost immediately, he didn't often snack, not when things were rationed so carefully upon the ark, but snacks were something that everybody liked, how could they not like them when they were such a rare treat.

Monty listened as Clarke spoke and he felt for his friend because he knew roughly what she meant and he understood on some level how she was feeling. Not completely because they all dealt with what had happened differently, for Monty it mostly involved trying to block out his feelings so that he didn't have to feel anything, guilt or grief or anything else that might take away his ability to function properly. Sometimes a crack appeared in his armour and he had to take the time out to fix it because falling apart wasn't what he did, that wasn't him, everyone else got to fall apart around him but not him. When she said that it gets better, Monty was inclined to agree, he knew that everything faded with time, including pain.
"You'll be okay" he told her, offering a small smile along with his words, he was happy to hear that she was getting better, feeling better, even if progress was slow. She was doing better than she had been yesterday and that was something. Monty could see it in the way that she was now sitting opposite him, if she was still as bad as she had been after they'd left Mt Weather then she wouldn't be sitting there with him now. "Don't worry about the others" he muttered, he knew that a few of them might have trouble understanding her need to hide away instead of coming together to support each other, but they didn't need to understand, they just needed to accept that it had happened and it was Clarke's way of dealing with what had happened. "I missed you, I'm sure they have too" most of them would be glad to see that Clarke was healing, Monty didn't see how they couldn't be. "You don't have to face them yet if you don't want to, if you're not ready then you can take more time" it was ultimately her decision, she needed to decide when she was ready to see everyone else, nobody could force her to do that before she was ready. Monty wasn't expecting the girl to grab onto his sleeves like she did and he hadn't expected to discover that he was actually the person that she had been looking for. He thought that this might be the most excited anyone had ever been to see him, he didn't know why she was so excited to see him but apparently she needed him for something. She tugged on his sleeves when she next spoke and the action brought a small laugh from him "I'm not busy" he confirmed, knowing that he could spare the time to help her out, he couldn't exactly turn her down, not when she seemed to happy to see him. "You don't need to apologise" he told her, waving off the apology, she'd done him no harm, she was just overexcited and he couldn't exactly blame her, they were on earth, he'd never thought that it would be possible.
He waited for her to explain herself and her excitement, watching as her voice took on a playful, teasing tone and she winked at him. He could tell that this was a person who had a lot of energy, she could barely manage to stand still and he wondered if he would be able to keep up with her "bread?" he questioned her once she'd gotten to the point. He'd heard about bread, he didn't know how easy... Or hard, it would be to track down the ingredients to make it, but Thalia seemed to think it was possible with his help and he'd never been one to turn down a challenge. Although he'd been recruited by engineering, growing up on farm station had taught him about the many different plants and how to identify what was edible and what wasn't, he was a fast learner and he was sure that he'd be able to help her.
"I can definitely try to help you find the ingredients" he agreed, not wanting to turn her away when she was so excited by the idea of being able to make food. He couldn't promise that their mission to make bread would be successful, but the least they could do was try and maybe they'd find something else that was equally amazing along the way. "What do we need to make bread?" he asked, he wasn't exactly somebody who ever thought about reading up on the process of bread making, nor was he particularly interested in making bread, but they were on earth and had very little food at that moment and bread was food. If they were successful in their task of tracking down the ingredients and making bread that was actually edible then at least they wouldn't starve, at least, not yet.

Monty knew that earth was the ultimate disappointment, it was supposed to be this amazing planet, the planet that they'd dreamed about so many times. If anybody at arkadia told him that they'd never dreamt about earth before actually getting to go there, then he wouldn't believe them. There wasn't supposed to be so much death, Monty had expected it to be challenging, especially when he'd first arrived on earth with the other delinquents without any adults, but he hadn't expected to be hunted by territorial grounders, that was not part of the dream. When Bryan told him that he thought that he'd be farming and not fighting when he came down, Monty smiled "maybe one day you'll get back to farming" he suggested. He didn't see it happening any time soon, but maybe one day if they ever had lasting peace with the grounders, when they didn't spend every day fearing for their lives and being unable to tell if they'd see tomorrow.
Monty could remember feeling the same sense of excitement that Bryan spoke of experiencing, he'd been scared on his journey to earth, scared that earth wasn't yet survivable and they'd all die from being exposed to the radiation, but there was also that excitement. He'd been excited for the little things, to see the trees and to hear the birds, how different the forest smelt after it had rained opposed to when it was dry. Things he'd only ever read about in books but never got to experience first hand. 'You wanna go get a drink?' the question dragged Monty out of his thoughts and he nodded at Bryan "a drink sounds good" he confirmed, getting to his feet and waiting for the other man to join him. Monty didn't drink often, not anymore, making moonshine was easy enough but he found that it was hard to keep a clear head whilst under the influence of alcohol and it was important to be able to function properly when everything on earth seemed to want to kill them. Anyway, Jasper had always been his drinking partner in the past and they weren't talking, Jasper seemed to prefer drinking alone after Mt Weather, Monty didn't like it but he didn't see what he could do to stop it. He'd tried to be there for his friend but he just kept pushing him away, so he'd just stopped trying and now it wasn't often that anyone invited him to drink with them.

Monty could see that Gena was excited about the possibility of finding something from the old world, she wanted to find something and Monty could see why. It was an exciting thought, to find something that might teach them a little about how the people of earth lived before the nuclear apocalypse wiped out the majority of the population. If what she said was true, Monty didn't see any reason why they wouldn't find something, even if they only found something small. "Maybe we can look while we're looking for food" he suggested, he didn't think it would take up too much time if they looked whilst searching for food. He couldn't see why anyone would mind if they brought back enough food to show that they'd actually been doing their job.
"Hey, maybe your dreams will come true" he told her, a smile on his face at the idea. Not many people could say that their dreams had come true, especially not in recent days. He'd thought his dreams had come true when he was sent down to earth and effectively pardoned for his crimes, obviously he hadn't counted on running into some very angry grounders, that part had definitely not been in his dreams. "If this was a heavily populated area then we should be able to find something, it'll be easy" he told her "we'll just have to look in the right places" he wasn't quite sure what the right places look like but he was sure that they'd know where to look when they got there. He wanted to find something, because Gena wanted to and he knew that she was excited about the possibility, if it made her happy then he'd help her look.

Monty knew that Bellamy must be hurting, even if he hadn’t been crying he would’ve thought that that would be obvious to anyone with eyes who knew that story. Monty had lost his mother, but Bellamy had lost people too, he’d lost Gena and Octavia wasn’t exactly his biggest fan at that moment either, but it was more than that. Bellamy was responsible for them, the delinquents had looked to him as their leader when they first landed on earth and that never really went away, he’d always been a leader to them, at least that’s how Monty saw it, Bellamy was always their leader even after the rest of the ark came down and Kane and Abby took over. Then he had to watch them die, time after time again, all of those deaths built up and would weigh down anyone who took on the responsibility of those people.
The tears that he’d found on Bellamy’s face only proved just how much pain he was in, even if he’d learnt to hide his pain to avoid burdening others, there were signs and somebody who was okay didn’t cry, not like this. Monty didn’t mind that Bellamy continued to hug him, he didn’t think that he was ready for the moment to end just yet and he realised that Bellamy needed the comfort of a hug just as much as he did. He wanted to be there for his friend just as Bellamy was prepared to be there for him and had been on many occasions.
When Bellamy started to answer him but stopped, Monty waited for him to say more, to give him a proper answer because he wasn’t about to let him avoid the question, he wouldn’t let him move on from it until he got a proper answer that he was satisfied with. When Bellamy answered him quietly, the answer was not something that he was expecting, he didn’t that he could remember a time when Bellamy had ever told him that he was anything but fine. It brought more tears to his eyes as he nodded his head in agreement to his friends words “maybe it is” he muttered, swallowing back the lump that had formed in his throat “I’m not fine, you're not either but I think one day we will be” he told the older man quietly, neither of them were okay, after mount weather it was starting to look like they might be but then alie happened and happiness seemed to be an impossibility again. “It might not seem like it now, but one day we’ll be happy again” it was what he’d told Jasper and now he was telling Bellamy because their pain couldn’t last forever, they’d just have to be there for each other until it had faded enough for them to be fine.Bellamy Blake

Monty noticed how Jackson raised himself up more, standing up straight so that he now appeared taller. He hadn’t even noticed that the older man was slouching, either way he was still taller than himself. Monty took a cautious step backwards and lowered himself down to stand normally once again as his gaze flicked over Jackson’s figure as if trying to work out if the guy was a genuine threat to him and capable of throwing a decent punch. However, before he could worry too much about that he noticed the other man relax once again and Monty didn’t understand why he did that.
When Jackson moved to sit down in a chair and gave him the go ahead to continue questioning him, Monty stared at the other man in confusion for a couple of seconds. He wasn’t intimidated by Jackson’s new position, figuring that if he really wanted to hit him he wouldn’t have taken a seat. He continued his questioning slowly, thrown off by Jackson’s reaction “Your past relationships? How did they end?” he asked. He’d had a clear idea of what sort of questions he was going to ask, but now he wasn’t so sure, his mind had gone blank and he'd lost some of his confidence. He knew what sort of questions he needed to ask, he just wasn’t sure how to word them now.

Monty was happy just to see Harper smiling, he was happy that he could make her smile, especially when he could still remember times when it seemed impossible to even get the smallest of smiles from her. He hoped that he could continue to make her smile and that he didn’t somehow manage to ruin their date, he doubted that he could mess up that badly but it was still a concern. He was excited that she’d actually asked him out because he really liked Harper, he’d liked her for a while, he just hadn’t known that she’d liked him back, maybe if he had then he might’ve asked her out first. Monty didn’t have much experience with dating, on the ark he was always with Jasper and he was always too distracted to notice anyone that he might have interest in and then when they were sent to earth, dating was the last thing on his mind when there were so many other things to worry about.
He didn't mind her laughing at him, even he could see how people would find his reaction funny, if he wasn't so surprised that she'd actually come to his room to ask him out he might have found it funny as well. At least she was genuinely laughing, it was more than he got when he tried to make a joke. "Tonight? The Hangar, sounds good" he confirmed as she asked him for confirmation about the time and place they should meet. Of course there was more for him to worry about than just the location of their date, what would he wear? What if he underdressed? That seemed to be a likely possibility, he didn't have anything to wear that he thought was good enough for a date with Harper and although he was sure that she wouldn't care what he wore, he wanted to make an effort.

Monty couldn’t help the smile that appeared on his face at her words, Harper wasn’t being the most positive of people at that moment but he’d seen people in worse moods. “You’re not that grumpy” he muttered in an attempt to reassure her “you’ve got a right to be grumpy, I’d be concerned if you were in a good mood after everything that’s happened” she was hurting, he wasn’t going to tell her to cheer up or say that she should be in a good mood because being happy in their current situation was impossible. He could do hopeful, but happy was something else, he couldn’t do happy when there was a real possibility that they could die. It was easy to hope for more, to stay optimistic and look at the positives but nobody was actually happy with their situation. “Everyone deserves friends” he argued when she said that she didn’t deserve his friendship “everyone deserves good friends, friends are supposed to be there for you when you need them and I want to help you get through this” he wasn’t just there because he had to be, there were a million other places where he might be more useful at that moment but Harper needed someone to be there for her at that moment and Monty wanted to be that person.
“Oh really? No, I never noticed” he chuckled as she said that she was always doubled over in laughter at his jokes, he could hear the sarcasm but he thought that continuing the joke would be better than dropping it. Now that they were talking about jokes, she was actually smiling and he’d never thought that he’d be able to get a smile out of her at that moment, not a genuine smile like this one seemed to be. “My jokes aren’t that bad, are they?” he ran a hand through his hair as he laughed at his own question. He knew that they weren’t the best, but attempting to crack a joke was better than looking at everything seriously all the time and even if somebody laughed at how terrible they were, at least they’d be laughing.
When the smile disappeared from her face, Monty felt guilty that he’d been the one to take it away from her by bringing up Jasper again, but he couldn’t stay silent when somebody was talking badly about his brother, he had to defend him. “He couldn’t have known that you’d be taken though” Monty argued “it wasn’t his fault that you got put in that cage” he couldn’t help but think that Harper was just looking for somebody to blame for the pain that she’d been through and he could understand why she’d picked Jasper to be that person but he couldn’t understand why she didn’t just blame the people who were actually responsible for it. “Fine, if you don’t trust Jasper then trust me” he told her “I told you that we’re getting out of here and I meant it, they’re not going to touch you again, I promise” it was a promise he couldn’t really keep, he didn’t know what was going to happen but he had to try and he knew that he never wanted Harper to experience the pain of the drilling again and he’d do everything that he could to keep her from experiencing it again.

Monty knew that the bunker might not be safe and it was their responsibility to make sure that it was before they even thought about bringing their people to shelter down there from the radiation. He expected the bunker to need some repairs, but hopefully any damage that it had sustained would be easily fixable. Dropping to his knees, he removed his pack from his back and took out the radiation detector, pursing his lips he examined the device "the radiation levels down here are normal... At least, the reading down here is practically the same as it was the last time I checked above ground" he informed his companion, holding the device carefully in his hands "it could be just what we're looking for, but we should probably explore a little more, we don't want any surprises" the last thing they needed was to get injured checking the place out, that wouldn't help anybody.
"You could wait here..." he suggested, leaving it up to her to decide what she wants to do "You're hurt, at the very least this place will give you a chance to rest until the storm passes" as soon as the storm passed they'd need to locate the rest of their group, if they couldn't find them then they could be in real trouble. They definitely couldn't leave until the storm had passed, it would be too dangerous, the storm gave them time to search the bunker and see if they could actually use it or if it was too good to be true. Monty couldn't help thinking that this mission had been too easy, they weren't expected back for four weeks, this victory was a little premature.

Sleep was a good thing, that was something that he could agree with her on. He didn't feel like he got enough of it sometimes, especially when he had to wake early like everybody else, but nobody really got to sleep in anymore. He was happy to hear that she was pleased that he'd gotten out of bed, if he had missed her then he probably would've felt guilty in the morning if she'd tried to speak to him about it. Monty wasn't as irritable as he would usually be if he'd been woken up by anyone else, he couldn't be mad at Harper, not when she stood in his room looking so nervous and unsure of herself. Bringing promises of good news despite her body language telling him that the only thing she'd brought with her was bad news.
He noticed the smile on her face after he'd admitted that he wanted to go on a date with her, he was happy that his answer pleased her and his happiness only grew when he realised what her question really meant. He'd never thought that Harper had feelings for him, not those type of feelings at least, maybe he was blind or maybe she was just really good at hiding her feelings. He wished that he'd picked up on it before, maybe then he wouldn't have stumbled over his words and made a fool of himself in front of her when she'd eventually asked him out. 'I'm happy to hear that' he took that as confirmation that she wasn't messing with him and she genuinely had interest in asking him out. He would've asked her first, but he hadn't even known that she'd been interested in him and dating wasn't exactly the first thing on his mind at that moment. That wasn't to say that he didn't want to go on a date with her, if he didn't want to then he would've turned her down.
Monty was glad that his rambling hadn't scared her away, he really was terrible with these things. Which was probably one of the reasons why he hadn't asked her out, even when he knew that he had feelings beyond friendship for her. "You're laughing at me?" he asked, after picking up the sound of her soft laughter. It wasn't an accusation or meant to sound like she'd hurt him, because her laughter hadn't offended him at all. He understood that she wasn't trying to be harsh with it and was aware that his stuttering was kind of amusing, if he wasn't so nervous, then he'd probably be laughing too. There was a smile on his face though, one that he couldn't seem to banish "dinner?" he asked her, unsure for a moment. She was asking him, but truthfully he didn't mind where they went or what they did, he would just be happy to be in her company. "We could definitely do dinner" people ate, that was what people did and if that's what she wanted to do then he wouldn't argue.

He knew that Clarke would die for them, she'd demonstrated her willingness to do so on more than one occasion. That didn't mean that she had to take unnecessary risks, he knew that her death would hurt a lot of people, admittedly even himself because despite not being on good terms with her and despite her abandoning himself and Bellamy after Mount Weather, she was still his friend. "Maybe you should stop trying to die for us and think about what would happen if you died" he told her "people care about you Clarke, they've lost too much, they don't need to lose you too" she'd done a lot of things to upset people and some people believe that she couldn't be forgiven for what she'd done, but Jasper had forgiven him and if they could mend their friendship then there was hope for Clarke to mend some of the relationships that she'd once had.
"Yeah, he was chipped" Monty confirmed "I don't know when, I think it was when you guys were with Luna" he told her, he'd spent time thinking it over and matching it up to what Jasper had said to him while chipped. "He tried to shut things down here" he knew that the real Jasper would never hurt them, not intentionally but it had been scary to see his friend acting in such a way, willing to kill them to get what he wanted. When Clarke told him that she got nightmares and didn't want to sleep, Monty stared at her, understanding in his gaze. He had dealt with nightmares too, of Mount Weather and grounders, but they'd subsided after a while. He didn't doubt that after everything that had happened, they'd come back now. "Do you want me to stay with you?" he asked, knowing that to heal, she would need to rest and if his presence helped her to do that then he'd be more than willing to stay with her. Maybe they'd even get a chance to talk this way, they'd never really had a chance before.

Monty was relieved when Jasper didn't shove him away or yell at him, or even hit him. His brother had never hit him, not seriously at least and he didn't believe that he ever would, but when Jasper was under the affects of moonshine, he did unpredictable things and Monty didn't know him when he'd been drinking, not really, he was like a different person. When Jasper told him to shut up, Monty didn't argue, he was just content to stand there with Jasper's arms wrapped around him as the tears rolled down his cheeks. The familiar embrace of his brother made him feel comfortable enough to actually allow his tears to flow freely, he had never expected to hug Jasper again, never expected the other man to forgive him for his betrayal, because that's what it had been at Mount Weather, a betrayal because Monty had betrayed his brother's trust. Bellamy and Clarke had been there too but Monty had let it happened, he'd made it possible and for that, Monty never believed that forgiveness was an option for him and now his brother was actually holding him again. He wished it was under better circumstances, oh god how he wished that this wasn't the thing that pushed them together again.
"I don't know" he choked in reply to Jasper's words, he knew what had happened and how it had happened but he didn't know how it was possible that they had lost Bellamy and were there to say goodbye to him. Bellamy Blake was immortal, he was the man that couldn't die, people had tried, not just once, many times and he'd always made it out alive. This time there would be no miraculous escape, Monty had come to accept that Bellamy wouldn't be coming back, that didn't mean that he had to be happy about it. When Jasper pulled back so that they could watch the service, Monty was aware that he was still holding onto him and he copied his brothers actions of gripping the back of Jasper's shirt. He didn't know if it was more for himself or Jasper, he just knew that at that moment, he didn't want to be left standing alone and he didn't want Jasper to slip away from him when he was distracted by the service.
Once the service was over, Monty let his hand slip from behind Jasper and he folded his hands in front of him as he started to play with his own fingers. Swallowing back a sob as a tear slipped from his cheek to land upon his hands. He felt so angry, angry that nobody had stopped the execution and angry with himself that he hadn't done more to save his friend, but more than that he was sad. So incredibly sad, he'd never felt sadness like it, it had hurt when Jasper had rejected him after Mount Weather and when he'd believed his brother to be dead after being speared by the grounders, but nothing had ever hurt this much before. He hadn't had time to mourn Jasper after his spearing and then there had always been hope, this ceremony was confirmation that Bellamy was gone, it told Monty that there was no hope of his friend being alive, he'd seen him die in front of him so he knew it was true. He wished that he could get those images out of his head and just remember Bellamy for what he was, but now all he could think about was his body lying on the ground and he couldn't unsee that. He brought a hand up as if to wipe away the tears from his face but no sooner had he done that than a sob ripped from his throat and he doubled, putting his hands on his knees as he sobbed. He felt sick but knew that it was unlikely that he'd actually throw up "we should have done something!" he muttered to Jasper, knowing that he was still stood beside him "we should have stopped Pike" he'd done nothing, neither had anyone else but he'd just frozen. He hadn't even tried, all he did was stand there and hope for the best, that was less than a lot of people had done, at least some people had tried to prevent what had happened.
"It's Bellamy, Jasper" his voice broke as he spoke and he hoped that his friend wouldn't judge him for so openly breaking down when he rarely showed such emotion openly around others. Forcing himself to straighten up, he angrilly swiped at his cheeks "we did nothing to stop this!" he didn't know what to feel, angry or sad or both, he was sure feeling a lot of both at that moment. Both emotions were fighting to get to the surface, he didn't know which one to react to and that just brought more tears to his eyes. "How did we let this happen?!" they shouldn't have let it happen, none of them should and he wasn't just talking about himself and Jasper. None of them should have let it happen, nobody that said that they cared about Bellamy because if they truly cared for him how would they ever allow him to make this sacrifice. "He doesn't just get to do that! He doesn't just get to die and leave the rest of us here because what the hell are we supposed to do now?!" he demanded, more tears spilling down his cheeks. Not at the fact that Bellamy would no longer be there to bail them out, but because Bellamy was no longer there and they had to go on living as if everything was okay when it was the furthest thing from okay.

Monty stared at Harper as she entered the room and closed the door behind her. The more he thought about it, there more something seemed off about her, he knew that she had said that nothing was wrong, but it was the way that she was acting that set off alarm bells in his head. Someone who had something good to say wouldn't be acting this nervous and because of this, it made him nervous as he tried to figure out what was wrong. Maybe something had happened to Jasper, he wasn't exactly in great shape these days, or maybe he'd upset her in some way, he didn't know how but he knew that he'd be devastated if he'd somehow managed to offend her. "Are you sure there's nothing wrong?" he ventured, confused as to why the young woman would be acting the way she was if she genuinely had something good to share with him "you're acting really weird" when people acted weird, it usually meant something bad was going to happen or that something was wrong.
When she apologised for waking him, Monty shrugged his shoulders dismissively "I shouldn't have been sleeping anyway" he muttered, although he had been tired, it was a little early for him to be heading to bed. "I'm glad I managed to get out of bed at all when you knocked" being woken wasn't his favourite thing in the world, especially not when he was having such a great sleep. He could tell that she felt guilty about waking him and he wanted to tell her that she didn't have to be but then a yawn sent that thought far from his mind as he lifted a hand to cover his mouth as he yawned. 'I was wondering...' Harper's words set him on edge, she wanted to ask something of him. He was more than willing to do her a favour, if she needed help with something then he'd do his best to rise to the challenge of doing what she asked, he just didn't know why it couldn't wait until morning. 'Did you want to go on a date? I like spending time with you' now that was unexpected, Monty had definitely not expected that. He'd come up with a whole host of ideas of what she could want and she wanted to ask him out on a date?!
"I really like spending time with me too- You! Spending time with you too!" he blurted, stumbling over his words as he realised his mistake and tried to fix it. He hadn't seen this coming, he really liked Harper, but he never imagined that she would actually like him back, not when there were a million other guys that she would probably rather be with... Well, not millions, a couple hundred maybe. Getting to his feet again, he took a couple of steps towards her, biting his lip as he tried to think of the right words to say "I'd love to go... Go on a date with you..." he tried to speak slowly, taking his time to talk this time so that he didn't make a fool out of himself. "I mean... If that's really what you want, I mean... I'd like to go on a date with you but if you change your mind it wouldn't matter, not that I think you're going to change your mind or anything" he started rambling, unsure of where he was actually going with that thought and eventually he just trailed off. Watching her as he brought a hand up and ran it through his hair nervously "What I'm trying to say is that I would love to go on a date with you, sorry" sorry that he'd made such an idiot of himself, that's what he was sorry for, she probably was regretting even asking him now. Well done Monty, real smooth.

Monty had never expected to set foot on the ground, that had never been a possibility to him because as far as anyone knew, the ground wasn’t survivable. When he was in the skybox, he knew that he’d probably be floated as soon as he turned eighteen, coming to terms with that had been hard but just as he’d began to grown used to the idea, they’d been given a second chance and been sent to the ground. If you could even call that a second chance, Monty expected the air to be toxic and for them to all be dead within a few hours, but they were all still alive and that was something… Well those of them that had survived the journey to earth were still alive.
When they’d gone looking for Mount Weather things hadn’t exactly gone to plan, apparently there were snakes in the water here, as if Monty needed another reason to be afraid of the water on top of the fact that he couldn’t swim. However, the thing that really posed a problem was whatever… Whoever had attacked them when they’d attempted to cross the river, Jasper had taken a spear to the chest and Monty had thought him to be dead before they’d heard his cries of pain. When Bellamy and the others had returned with Jasper, Monty still couldn’t bring himself to relax, not when his best friend was in such a critical condition.
The one person that Monty had not expected to see on earth was Bellamy, he was one of the last people he’d expected to see. He didn’t know how Bellamy was on the ground with them, he was over eighteen so if he’d been arrested he would’ve just been floated for his crimes. Monty wasn’t unhappy to see him, but he was confused about a lot of things surrounding his partner, he hadn’t even known that he had a sister, nobody had siblings on the ark, so finding out that Bellamy had a sister was a surprise. Bellamy hadn’t visited him in the skybox and he wondered if that was because of his sister or because he just didn’t care enough to visit. Monty didn’t know what the truth was, they hadn’t had the chance to speak yet but he knew something was different about the man.
He looked up when he heard somebody approaching him and was surprised to see that it was Bellamy. He’d expected Clarke or Finn had come to update him on Jasper’s condition, it was hard for him to be in the same room as his friend when he appeared to be in so much pain. “Hey” he muttered a greeting, forcing a smile as he watched the people by the fire taking off their wristbands for food. “Not yet” he answered Bellamy’s question but ignored the food when it was offered to him “what’s that all about?” he questioned the other man, referring to the delinquents being forced to remove their wristbands in exchange for something to eat. He couldn’t wrap his head around why they’d want to remove their wristbands, not when they were so important.
