Monty managed to drift off to sleep eventually, it was a dreamless sleep and Monty didn't know how long he'd been asleep when he was awoken by a sound that he couldn't quite place coming from the other side of the cell. He didn't feel rested, so he figured only a couple of hours had passed since he'd fallen asleep. Rolling over in the bed, he turned to face Jasper's bed, which was where he thought he'd heard the sound coming from and his brow furrowed in confusion as he sat up on his elbows and stared at Jasper's back, he noticed that his friend was shaking slightly and it took him a couple of seconds to realise that he was crying. The noises that he'd heard were the sounds of barely stifled sobs.
Silently, Monty swung his legs over the side of the bed and felt them hit the cool floor as he forced himself to get up, despite the fact that his legs felt heavy and tired. The concern he felt for Jasper outweighed his need to sleep. Walking silently over to the other boys bed, he lifted the covers and climbed into the bed with him without asking permission, wrapping his arm around Jasper to hug him "You okay?" he finally whispered, his eyes closed as he pressed his forehead to the back of his friends shoulder, perhaps it was a stupid question to ask when he could hear him crying. The first night in the cell was probably going to be the worst, Monty knew that Jasper was understandably upset with being locked up with a death sentence hanging over their heads but he hadn't been expecting Jasper to wake him in the middle of the night with his crying.

Jasper wasn't exactly making it easy for Monty to cheer him up, if anything he was making the task ten times harder which wasn't exactly what Monty was hoping for. Of course he knew that Jasper was right, stealing medical crimes on the Ark wasn't a petty crime and he didn't think the counsel would view it as one either. "Well wouldn't we just do it again if we got let out?" he asked with a smirk as Jasper slumped against his shoulder, it was a poor attempt at a joke, an attempt to lighten the mood but he was fairly convinced that it wouldn't work.
Sleep. He didn't feel particularly tired, but maybe that was just because he wasn't used to spending a night in a cell. It had probably gotten quite late, late enough to sleep, he didn't have a watch and the cell lacked a clock so there was no way of knowing the exact time but if they didn't at least try to sleep, the chances were that they'd just stay up the entire night talking about stuff that didn't even matter. Heaving himself off of the bed, he gestured towards the other bed that stood against the other wall "I'll take that bed, you just stay there" he muttered as he crossed over to the other bed and collapsed onto it with a sigh. He rolled over so that he was facing the wall and placed a hand on the wall to feel the cool metal beneath his palm.

Monty smiled as he heard Jasper laugh, he was deadly serious about the whole costume thing. The costume was an important part of any superhero, but he decided not to argue any further about it, the argument had the potential to stretch on for hours if they allowed it to. "Oh... The short jokes continue" Monty groaned as Jasper made a joke about accidentally stepping on him "I'm not even that much shorter than you!" he was shorter than quite a few boys his own age, that was true, but he also knew a couple that were shorter than him. He figured that he shouldn't have teased Jasper about his height when they were growing up, but it was just so easy to annoy him, especially if he poked fun at his height.
He instantly noticed when Jasper's smile left his face and the moment that happen, he felt his own smile disappear. "Hey..." he breathed as he watched Jasper "this isn't it for us" there was more, there had to be more. Monty had to believe that they'd get out of there "we get a trial before we're floated right? We could still get out" of course he didn't really believe that they'd be released and he knew that Jasper wasn't stupid, but it would be hard to remain in a good mood if they thought they only had death to look forward to.

Monty was surprised when Jasper, instead of moving on with the game decided to question his decision to kill Superman instead of Batman. Just the tone of voice Jasper was using made Monty smile "I like his costume" he muttered by way of an excuse "Superman has a really boring costume, Batman has a freaking awesome costume!" now, he wasn't saying that the costume was everything, all he was saying was that if a superhero asked him to marry them and he didn't like their costume, there was a high possibility that he would decline their offer and instead put them into the 'kill' category.
Rolling his eyes at Jasper's flirty gesture, Monty pulled a face of disgust "well I'm not gonna marry you if that's what you're thinking!" he joked, making a gagging sound as if the thought revolted him. "I'm flattered that you feel that way Jas, but I'm way out of your league" a teasing smile appeared on his face as he nudged his friend with his shoulder "and if Superman was able to get us out of this place then I'd definitely marry him!" he was willing to admit that maybe Jasper was right in this instance, he'd give almost anything to get off the ark, especially now that their world just became a whole lot smaller after being confined to a cell.

Monty actually approved of his friends choices with the last list of characters he'd given him, but then again he hadn't exactly given him a hard decision to make. When Jasper mentioned the names of three popular super heroes though, Monty paused for a moment before smiling "Now that's too easy" he chuckled "Fuck Catwoman, marry Batman and kill Superman" he wasn't a fan of superman, not compared to the other two and besides, Bruce Wayne was rich, if he had to spend the rest of his life with a Superhero and constantly be put in dangerous situations, as the lovers of superheroes constantly seemed to be, he might as well have a comfortable luxurious life to compensate for it.
Monty found that even as the game seemed to have just started, he was already feeling lighter, he wasn't as nervous about spending the night in the cell. This almost felt nervous, like he was just chilling in an empty room with his best friend and playing ridiculous games where they wouldn't be discovered for at least a couple of hours. "Fuck, marry, kill: Ironman, Supergirl and..." he took a moment to come up with the final name, it wasn't easy to pluck a name out of thin air "Charles Xavier" he knew where he would categorise each of these characters but the chances were that Jasper would have a very different opinion to him.

Monty was incredibly interested in Jasper's opinion when it came to Harry Potter characters and if he was completely honest, he wasn't impressed with his friends choice. "C'mon, if you're going to marry anyone out of those three, it'd be Dumbledore, if for no other reason than to take advantage of his wisdom, you wouldn't have to fuck him!" obviously Jasper was only interested in what each character had to offer him physically and considering Dumbledore was over one hundred years old, he didn't suppose he would be what Jasper was looking for in a partner.
As Jasper listed his own selection of Harry Potter characters, a look of disgust appeared on Monty's face "Now that's just harsh!" he chuckled, Jasper knew that he'd have a difficult time choosing between the three characters that he'd listed. "If I'm honest, I'd kill Hagrid because he's nice and everything but he's too tall and he'd make me seem like a dwarf!" there wasn't a massive height difference between himself and Jasper but it was still there and enough for his friend to crack some jokes about, he didn't need to be compared to Hagrid. "Umm... I'd fuck Snape, he's a total buzzkill and I wouldn't have the patience to keep him around, he'd ruin all of our fun and I'd marry Lupin because he's just great in every way possible! If you overlook the werewolf thing" he could talk for days about his decision but of course, Jasper wouldn't share his enthusiasm for Harry Potter characters and the last thing he wanted to do was bore his friend. "Fuck, Marry, Kill... Percy Weasley, Neville Longbottom and Cho Chang"

"Why not?" Monty asked with a smile, sure it would eventually get boring but they'd passed a lot of time in the past through the use of pointless games. Now, the days would eventually get dull, they'd run out of things to do, things to say. Did they even know what time it was, Monty had no way to tell what the time was, did they have a curfew whilst they were in the skybox? He supposed they did, but he wasn't sure at what time that would be.
There wasn't much else to do in the cell, unless they wanted to lie on their beds and stare at the ceiling all day and as appealing as that sounded, Monty had to give it a pass. "I think we've got a lot of time to kill, might as well try to have fun with it" he looked around the room briefly and then appeared to drift into thought for a couple of minutes. "Fuck, Marry, Kill... Albus Dumbledore, Hermione Granger and Draco Malfoy" he muttered after a while with a smirk on his face "And no... Nothing you can say will stop me from bringing up Harry Potter characters at every opportunity"

As Jasper wrapped his arms around him, Monty heaved a sigh of contentment. It wasn't easy to relax in the cell that he figured would now be their home until they turned eighteen, but having Jasper by his side helped. He heard Jasper say something about being unable to pick the lock and he couldn't help but laugh "even if we did get out, where would we go?" it wasn't like there were a million places on the ark where they could hide comfortably without being found a couple of days later and brought back to the skybox.
"We're locked up but that doesn't mean we can't have fun, right?" he asked his friend as he pulled away from the hug to look at him, they were Jasper and Monty, they were practically the kings at finding ways to entertain themselves. Looking around there didn't seem to be anything that looked like it would give them a good source of entertainment, but they could make their own fun. They just had to keep their spirits up.

Jasper's words did bring some comfort to Monty. He was probably right, no... Of course he was right, their parents couldn't hate them. Not after all the 'I love you's' that they'd told him, he figured that they couldn't just disown him. He was their only son and smoking a bit of weed wasn't exactly a major offense, he was a kid, he just wanted to have a bit of fun. It was just unfortunate that the counsel couldn't see it like that.
The smile reappeared on Monty's face as Jasper hugged his arm and leaned his head on his shoulder, but it was smaller than it had been before. He leaned into Jasper, bringing his arm to wrap around his back and hug him tighter. Whenever Jasper was around, he always managed to make Monty feel safe, he always managed to put a smile on his face again. Either with his jokes or by just being there when nobody else was. Without really thinking about it, Monty repositioned himself to wrap his arms around Jasper's waist and used the obvious difference in height to his advantage so that he could easily bury his face in Jasper's chest. Of course many people would not expect two friends to share such an intense hug, but Monty had no clue what boundaries were and he figured it would be a long time before anyone else offered to give him a hug, why not share one with Jasper, the boy who had been with him for as long as he could remember.

I didn't ask" Monty muttered, apologising for the second time since entering the cell "I didn't think to ask, I didn't know if they'd answer my questions anyway" they were just common thieves to the people on the guard, they didn't matter, their questions didn't matter. It didn't matter that Monty had been pursuing a career in engineering or he'd never gotten so much as a verbal warning from a guard until today. They were all criminals, they were probably viewed the same as murderers now that they'd been put in the skybox.
Monty pulled away from Jasper and crossed over to one of the beds before sitting down heavily and letting out a sigh. His head fell forwards to rest in his hands and for a moment he was silent "That's not funny" he'd never really been grounded before, he'd annoyed his parents in the past, even made them angry on a few occasions but he'd never done anything bad enough for them to ground him. Or rather, he'd never done anything bad enough and gotten caught, this was definitely a first. "Do you think they hate us Jasper?" now that was a terrifying thought, what if their parents were so disgusted by their actions, so ashamed that they wanted nothing more to do with them? Monty wouldn't blame them, they'd broken the law, they didn't deserve the love of their parents.
Or maybe he was just overreacting, maybe everything would be fine. Anyway, it wasn't his place to freak out, that was Jasper's job. He was always the one that stayed calm and collected in situations such as these. But they wouldn't know their parents opinions until they got visitation, if they got visitation. |

Monty let out a small chuckle at Jasper's words and he could feel his friends grip tightening around him and he let out a choked sound "Friends don't crush friends... Jasper" he muttered, but the smile on his face didn't disappear. He was too relieved to stop smiling, they hadn't been separated after all. "You were worried?" he asked, his smile turning playful as he heard his friend tell him that he'd been beginning to panic. It sounded just like Jasper to panic, Monty was often the most calm out of the two even in the most severe of situations.
Monty was somewhat relieved when Jasper held him at arms length and stopped trying to squeeze the life out of him but that relief was short lived as he began to throw questions at him. Questions that he had no answers for "Jasper, slow down! I know just as much as you do!" he understood that his friend was scared, but he didn't know why he was asking all of these questions, as if he thought that Monty knew something that he didn't. "I don't know whether to hope for visitation or not" he muttered, knowing that facing his parents after they'd pulled this would be almost impossible. He could just see the look of disappointment on their faces now and he didn't know if he wanted to see that. They'd never been disappointed in him before.

Monty was internally kicking himself, how could he be so stupid. They'd 'borrowed' those herbs dozens of times, the key to them not getting caught was that they always replaced what they took. Not this time though. He'd been distracted, it was a simple mistake but this mistake had gotten both himself and Jasper arrested. He could almost forgive himself for screwing up, everyone screwed up, everyone made mistakes but when his mistakes brought harm to his best friend, he didn't think he'd be able to forgive himself for that.
He didn't even know where Jasper was, they'd been separated and Monty doubted that he'd ever see the boy that he called his brother ever again. He was being escorted by two guards to the skybox where he'd stay until he reached the age of eighteen and Monty wasn't looking forward to the amount of free time he'd have alone without Jasper by his side. He couldn't help but think about what his parents would be thinking, what they would be feeling. They'd always been so vocal about how proud they were of him, would they be proud of him now? He'd stolen, he'd been using illegal substances and he'd gotten caught doing it. No, they probably hated him. He swallowed back the lump that had formed in his throat at the thought.
The guards stopped in front of cell and opened the door before waiting for Monty to enter, the boy looked back at them one last time before shuffling into the cell. He hadn't even had a chance to look around properly before he felt a body slam into him which sent him stumbling backwards a couple of steps "Monty!" his whole body relaxed as he heard Jasper's familiar voice and felt his arms wrap comfortingly around him. It only took him a second of hesitation before his own arms wrapped around his friend and clung to him as if he were his life line.
Feeling somebody roughly shove him forwards, he allowed himself to stumble further into the cell, still clinging to Jasper "I'm sorry" he muttered into Jasper's shoulder, feeling the need to apologise immediately to his friend. He was the one that had landed them both in this mess in the first place. He still felt slightly numb to everything that had happened, it hadn't fully started to sink in yet that he'd possibly be spending the rest of his life in a cell, but if that was to be his fate then at least he'd be spending the rest of his time with Jasper. His stay wouldn't be nearly as lonely as he'd originally anticipated it to be.

.:History:. Monty grew up on Farm station, he had two loving parents who were in charge of the pharmaceuticals on the ark. Both of his parents were incredibly supportive of him and proud of his academic achievements and he shared a close bond with both of them. Jasper Jordan became the brother that he never had, he can't even remember when Jasper came into his life, he's just always been there by his side through thick and thin. When he was just a young teenager, he was recruited by engineering and to say he was pleased would be an understatement, his parents were so proud of him and he loved to see how happy he'd made him through his achievement.
However, despite having supportive parents who loved him and a promising future in engineering, Monty couldn't help but get into trouble. There wasn't a lot to do to occupy his time on the ark and with Jasper by his side they got into all kinds of trouble. They turned to making illegal substances from herbs that they stole from Farm Station, they would've never been caught if they'd remembered to replace the herbs that they'd taken, but of course they forgot and that error caused them both to get arrested.
