As if they would ever let their baby get cold. They had stored up on more warming blankets and clothes than was technically necessary, but that way they were fully prepared for every eventuality, like for example the little one vomiting all over one of the blankets – it could happen even though she hoped it wouldn’t. She wished for the best for their son after all. “That’s good.” Aurora was tempted to ask for how long she had been out, but in the end it didn’t really matter. He would have woken her if the baby had become hungry. So he had not wanted any more milk, which meant she couldn’t have been out for all too long, which was good. Sleep would be very rare for the both of them in the coming days. While she would be more than okay with him sleeping through the nights so he could be up and refreshed in the morning, she doubted it would happen. He would want to do his part, too. That was just Marcus.
When he patted the seat next to him, Aurora smirked. It looked a bit awkward with him using one arm and having Bellamy resting on his chest, but she wouldn’t complain. Aurora reached for two blankets. She draped one over Marcus and their son partially and then sat down and curled up next to him, head resting on his shoulder with a deep sigh, blanket around her legs. “I feel a lot less in pain than I was when I was in labor with him.” Aurora stated, but he probably knew that before. “I still hurt. I still feel like I could sleep for hours, but strangely happy. Like five drinks of moonshine strangely happy happy, like my heart can’t handle all the love for him."

No matter how tense things were and would continue to be, how much it hurt Aurora to see this and how much fear this all put into her, she couldn’t fault Callie for any of this. She tried to keep the peace and Bellamy said she was nice to him, right now with everything here being about Bellamy and having to be about the kid, she was grateful that she didn’t make this hard for the kid and right now her speaking up made it just slightly easier for Aurora to be here, yet her mantra remained. Aurora shook her hand, ready to do whatever required to keep up whatever peace they wanted to construct and started to. She smiled at the other woman. “Good evening, Callie.”
Aurora was grateful to hear her son had fun, lots of it apparently. No matter how this turned out, now was the time Bellamy made the first memories he would keep until adulthood. A day of fun with his father was exactly what he needed, what would make everything that might happen later a little less painful, because as a kid he had memories he could hold onto. This was for Bellamy, Aurora reminded herself again. And for him, she knew she needed to be open and she couldn’t be acting in any more aggressive towards them. Things had happened between them, things would continue to happen, but with him as her priority, Aurora could smile, however strained it was, because she knew this was in Bellamys favor. Who cared what she was going through when it was good for her beloved boy? Still some habits died very, very hard, habits she only discovered due to her son. “No, thank you.” Aurora declined the drink, without even thinking about it. She was just too used to saving resources as a single mother. Slowly, insecurely she sat, knowing they would probably wait for the guest to sit first – something even Aurora still upheld, even though Factory certainly was not the place for it.
“I did, kind of. I’m not used to not having him around, but work and cleaning is faster when you don’t have a three year old running through your legs demanding stories of greek gods or even demanding to help you.” She tried. She honestly tried to make this conversation normal and she figured the shared kid would be the one topic they would manage to speak normally about first. “I usually tell him stories then or entertain him. Give the kid fabric or buttons or just a box and he is playing for hours.”

When she heard a knock on the door, Aurora immediately jumped into action, as always. With her work and who was in the room with her usually, she had to always act quickly. Now today was easier, due to practice. The room was presentable within mere moments, allowing for Aurora to put on a smile and to go answer the door. As she opened it she saw a woman, who was at first glance clearly hurt. At second apparently a customer, both of which warranted her allowing the girl to come in. This was no conversation to be had just like that, so she stepped aside.
“Come in.” She offered. Her arm immediately pointed to the only table. Presentable in this case meant that the unregistered occupant was gone, but her table was still full of things she needed to make or fixed, sorted by the urgency of things. Aurora worked fast and she was good at this thanks to her grandmother. Sitting back down, she hoped the girl took it as an invitation to sit as well. “What can I help you with?” She asked her. She would offer her something, like water, but she barely made enough to feed her own family. “Mind if I ask what happened to you? Did you have it checked out?”

The moment her son asked about his father, was the moment Aurora really was caught between a rock and a hard place. He deserved the truth. Really she had done everything she knew to do for her son. She wanted to do everything she could for him. He deserved as much love and devotion as her grandmother and parents had given her, though she was all alone in it, for several reasons, if you didn’t count her best friend. He was her lifeline, the one person she clung to especially now. When Bellamy had asked about his father, she had thought about it for a while and then decided to approach his actual father, Marcus Kane. Hurt feelings and what happened between them simply had to take a step back compared to what her son needed and her son needed or would eventually need this part of his roots.
The talk itself was as painful as expected. Her sons name, doing it for him was what kept her going during it, because it sure as hell hurt. It hurt a lot. Part of it was well deserved, yet it was all for Bellamy and she held onto it. Slowly a routine started to establish. Bellamy seemed to enjoy the time he got to spend with his biological father. It was good. He was happy about it, it was worth every awkward and painful encounter they had. Her sons happiness was what all of this was about. Her sons happiness was what she worked towards every day. And her sons happiness was why she made her way to Alpha Station alone – despite how frowned upon it was these days.
She didn’t expect niceties when the door opened, him telling her that Bellamy was sleeping might be as nice as it would get between them and she was fine with that. Really, this was only for Bellamy, the consequences that would come were bearable for her as long as she kept that in mind. This was for her son. No matter what was sure to happen, this was for Bellamy alone. “Did he have fun then?” Aurora inquired. Normally he was only as tired that early if he had lots of fun and lots of opportunity to deplete his energy by playing or running around. It was good. The kid having fun made up for all the awkwardness that wound ensue now.

Name | XXX Tanner | Station | Factory | Age | Around 40 | Story | Tanner and Aurora got to know each other when they were very young. They told each other everything about themselves. Tanner is the only one who knows everything about Aurora. In some AUs he could be the man whose name is on the permit for Bellamy, making his father by law. In others he could even know about Octavia. Or he could have saved Aurora and hidden her. The possibilities are numerous. | Model | Free to the User [Bernard Curry in the picture is for visual aid, would be a nice choice, too] |

When Aurora woke up, she was initially confused. It was due to what happened before. Her life had changed forever. Before she fell asleep she had given birth to her first – and probably only – child, had spent the first moments of his life with him and his father, nursed him, before exhaustion and Marcus presence allowed her to drift to sleep. The first things she remembered about that were the babies cries, the feel of his soft skin and of course Marcus smile as he held the tiny new life for the first time. Like every birth, this one had taken its toll on Auroras body, but she knew she would recover from it, the female body was made to do so. Slowly, careful of the changes in her body and mindful of the pain, she made her way out of bed.
Aurora had to pay attention to what she wore, even now. Even if people on the Ark were understanding of women after giving birth, she wanted to be at least a bit presentable for Marcus and his mother Vera. Once she made sure of that, by dressing – loose clothes and a robe – and washing her face, she walked to the living room where she could see Marcus holding his son on his chest. It was a wonderful sight to see, so very cute. Marcus was the reason why she could rest, because he was there to care for the baby. He could have woken her, should their son Bellamy need feeding, but he seemed perfectly content to lounge on his fathers chest. The sight alone made Aurora so happy. For her contact to the kid was there before he was even born. For Marcus it was harder, but now they were bonding.
“You know, you are allowed to put him down. You don't want to, do you?” If he wanted to, but Aurora didn’t think they would do that anytime soon. Those first moments and days were precious. “How are the two of you?” Marcus Kane

Damn it. It was cute and thoughtful and he had his heart in the right spot, but Aurora had to tell him that it was not okay what he did. It was not okay for many reasons. Many of those reasons had to do with the family he was trying to aid, which honored him, but in the end it was not what he could do. He was small, he made mistakes and he got away from it this time, but they couldn’t take that risk. Aurora lowered herself so she was on his level. She took his small hands into hers, looked into his warm eyes and started:
“Bellamy, listen to me closely, please. I know you meant well and you want to help us, but you can not under any circumstances steal. I know we don’t have a lot of food and sometimes we have to be hungry, but we have each other. Octavia has something more important than always having a full belly: She has your love. If you get caught stealing they can and will lock you up in the skybox. We don’t want that to happen. I know you meant well, honey, but you can’t do that again, do you understand? We need each other and each others love a lot more than to have full bellies. I will take care of it, Bellamy. But please, please, promise me never to steal anything again.”

One glass followed the other to the floor, shattering into uncountable pieces, as Marcus cupped her face to crash his mouth against her. Even though she felt attracted to him, might have fantasized about him, partially hoped about getting somewhere with him, Aurora would have never guessed this could happen. Their lips met and unlike her completely not registering anything about the glasses and the precious moonshine, she reacted almost instantly, her lips moving against his, eagerly meeting every movement of his. Auroras hands came up to cling to his shoulders initially, until his hands on her hips gently guided her against her table. The brunette got the hint, leaning against it, as he really delved into it leaning against her, letting the passion and unspoken attractions speak in the way their lips moved.
Nothing mattered in that moment, the titles melting away, leaving only them, the two people kissing, as if the end of the world could come tomorrow. And if it came, she wanted to enjoy this moment at the fullest. One hand moved to the back of his head, as he held hers. Her fingers were running through his hair, enjoying the feeling of the softness, the smell that was so overwhelmingly him. Her other hand traveled other paths entirely. It lifted his shirt slightly, to feel the toned muscles and soft skin of his abdomen and his side underneath. Aurora moaned ever so softly against his lips, as her hand traveled up until it rested against his chest, feeling the muscles move with even the slightest of his movements against her. And still, she wanted more, but not without him giving her a hint to go further.

Aurora had not heard his reply at all. That might be a problem. But at the same time she knew she could attempt to charm her way through the awkward situation that was building here. She had to get herself under control. He was her superior. He was her very, very painfully hot superior. Any other day she would probably actively flirt and try to make a move, maybe try and tempt him into a meaningless round between the sheets, but that was more than complicated in this case, even though he was the most handsome man that she had encountered on the Ark so far, which, again, did not make anything easier. The brunette poured them both a glass of moonshine. Leaving the bottles at the counter, she walked over to the taller man. She held the second glass out to him.
Without waiting she took a generous sip . The familiar burn of the moonshine – and unfamiliar trace of raspberry flavor – was a welcome distraction from the man who stood so close to her. She knew, if he would touch her in any way while taking the glass, she knew she would not be able to control herself anymore, which was less than ideal. But it was inevitable right now. Since she was smaller she had the perfect of his chest and the muscles. “You’re so handsome.” She hadn’t even thought to say it, but she had. For a moment she didn’t even realized she had said it, but when she did she blushed.

Using the pen, Aurora wrote her homework down. She needed every good grade she could get, if she wanted to get a good job. Being here would certainly help her, though. She suspected Vera would keep a lot of worries off of her back while she studied and she intended to make herself useful in return. As Vera had not given her a task and she had not seen any possible task she could do, she had no choice but to do her homework. That was until the door opened and a young man came in as if she belonged here. She knew, from her grandmother, that Vera had a son, but she couldn’t remember ever meeting him. The age might even fit, so that was probably her legal guardians son.
“I’m Aurora Blake.” She replied. “I’m … Vera has gotten custody over me.” Meaning she was her legal guardian now, she didn’t know if the woman had told her son about her or if it was a spontaneous decision to take her in. Either way, she was very grateful for what the woman was doing for her. She felt more hope than earlier that day, when she was prepared to fight her guardians on getting to do homework or studying. Now the young man stood over her, basically, peeking onto her tablet. Aurora tilted the screen to show him what she was doing. “Are you Veras son?”

What choice did they have? They would have to stay here. Aurora knew the next shelter zone apart from the living quarters was a bit away, so to leave and go there would be impractical. She guessed Marcus Kane knew that as much as she knew that herself. She could go and still sew, she supposed. But first Aurora went to her storage fridge. She had a few things stored there. Bending down to get the lowly stored drinks, she accidentally put her backside quite on display. The woman never even thought that this could have an effect on him, not right now. Right then she wanted to be polite, offer him something worthwhile for his stay.
“I have water, obviously” Aurora began to say as she pulled the bottles out. “I have isotonic juice aaaaand moonshine. Which one? Or mixed?” Balancing the three bottles, she turned around to face her superior, smiling openly at him. She wanted to make the most of this, which could easily include getting to know each other. Nobody was there to judge them after all. Nobody would ever be any wiser about what would happen between them behind closed doors. Not that she thought something would happen. That still didn’t mean that she didn’t think about things. Aurora saw Marcus. He was perhaps one of the best looking men on the guard. From what she could see he was nice and clever on top of it and those muscles and hair, any woman could get week in the knee from that. Aurora didn’t even notice she was staring at him, more specifically his lips, as she was lost in thought of how great he was.

Aurora had been in the custody of the Ark for a few weeks now. She had been given help, but the biggest help she found was the reassurance of a Vera Kane. She helped her to accept the inevitable, that she was alone now. Aurora expected to be with the other orphans until she turned 18, but it seemed like Vera Kane, the religious leader and kind woman, had different ideas. One afternoon after school Aurora found Vera packing up her things. She froze in the door, shocked. Why would she take her things? But then Vera turned around, smiling brightly. The woman explained to Aurora why she packed her things. She had gotten custody for Aurora and would take her in. After helping her with packing her two large bags with what belongings she had for herself and from her father and grandmother, she followed Vera to where she would live now
Aurora looked around curiously. The apartment was bigger than the one where she had lived. Vera brought her straight to a small room. It held a bed and a closet, more than she had in this group placement and perfectly enough for her, though Vera still felt the need to apologize. She apologized again for having to leave until the late evening again. Not quite knowing what to do with herself, Aurora sat in the living area of the apartment and pulled out her small tablet to do her homework. With the whole moving she had not gotten that done yet. It still felt weird to be in this new place, but with how legal this already was, she guessed she would have to get used to it.

Changes in the plan. Damn it. But at least he was a good enough supervising officer – senior officer – to go and tell the people about it. Otherwise she might have appeared in the wrong place at the wrong time, with the wrong idea in mind. This way she could prepare for the new task, not that she expected it to be that much different than what she was prepared for already. In essence a lot of things in this job were similar. Once she had gotten used to it, she was sure it would be routine and easy for her. Aurora sat down as he did. She pushed a few of the clothes she had on the table to the side – the table was basically covered in it, there was no way he could put anything down on it without her moving the things on it.
“The masquerade.” Aurora stated almost shocked. It was usually something only the best ones were supposed to go to as the kids might get out of control. His explanation however was very logical. A woman would not be as intimidating as a man, maybe the kids would be happier with that. “Are we afraid Shumie and his buddies could spoil the fun?” Actually she knew they would. They were just like that, showing off, overstepping the boundaries just to feel powerful. “I won’t disappoint you.” Aurora knew, if it got out of control, she shouldn’t hesitate to call backup. It was no sign of weakness, as some of the men seemed to think, it was just a logical way to try and deescalate. She was just about to say something, as the speakers came to life:
“Solar flare alert. An x-class solar flare has begun on the starboard side of The Ark. All citizens must report to the nearest shelter zone immediately. This is not a test. This is a solar flare alert.”
Great, something she did not expect and that meant they, both of them, were basically trapped in here, as there was no way to tell how fast the flare traveled. “This is a shelter zone.” Aurora pointed out, though she probably didn't need to. Most of the living quarters, even in the poorest stations, were. This was probably not how he expected to spend his afternoon. “Do you now want a drink?”

“No, please don’t.” She had had faith in him. She had wanted to tell him. She had wanted him to chose if he wanted to be a father or not. She didn’t want to tie him down and she had panicked. After she had been too stubborn and hurt to go to him, but nothing meant she didn’t have faith in him. She did. She had absolute faith in his leadership abilities, in his ability to be a wonderful father for the kid, as he had been a wonderful partner to her for how long it lasted. She had had faith in him, too much maybe. It was the council in whom she had no faith, it was luck she had no faith in, but right now, Aurora felt like he might be too upset to consider what she was feeling in that moment. It was a rare situation she had been in and she had acted on feelings rather than intellect, Aurora knew that. Things could have gone differently and probably should have gone differently as well.
Aurora stared at him, in shock, as he told her they’d have the permit edited. Did that work? Would that be something they could just do like that? She knew she would pay a prize, she would gladly do it. Her decisions had made this mess. Maybe theirs in combinations, but when it came down to it, she had decided to have a permit, now she had to deal with the consequences. With any luck her rations would be halved and that was it. That she would be able to deal with. And she might just have to. “Okay. We will do that. As soon as possible.” Aurora agreed. “You’re the babies father, then you’ll even be the father before the law.”

Aurora tried to calculate her next moves. She could handle the guy, she knew she could, while she knew she was not necessarily stronger, she was more agile, usually. Things were different now. She was pregnant. The child in her rounded belly had taken priority in her thoughts ever since she learned of it, so right now all her calculations included the best way to keep his ugly hands off her belly and therefore her baby out of harms way. There was no time for her to react to anything. Once she realized the door had been opened, Marcus already started punching Grus. While she usually didn’t need his protection, this time she really did, this time she had been so focused on protecting the unborn, she had basically froze – not to mention how sick she felt at the suggestion of this guy. Finally, though, she managed to unfreeze herself. There was on man around whom she did not need to be careful with the unborn inside her, the father of the child, which was Marcus.
Aurora reached out, trying to still his hand, but he had already stopped punching the dirt out of Grus, maneuvered her behind him, as if to protect her and their baby. Maybe he did mean to do so. Aurora still saw, from her point behind Marcus, that Grus was not about to say anything, probably knowing an explanation might make his situation worse, since he was caught, not just by anyone, but by his superior. Aurora decided to speak instead.
“Guardsman Grus here, decided to try and blackmail me into sexual favors by threatening me with telling the husband I don’t have about the affair I don’t have. And then he proceeded to imply he would get the sexual favors regardless of my compliance to his blackmailing.” The man lunged at her, obviously in a desperate attempt to get himself out of the situation, but the damage was done already. Aurora didn’t even flinch, for some reason very sure in the man standing between them. Still as Aurora stood there, her hand still on Marcus, her hand trembled, all of her trembled. She also didn’t realize her other hand rested on her belly, protectively spread over where the unborn grew.
