It was a bit of a sad sight, if she was honest with herself. Aurora barely had anything. She had given up a lot, when she decided she wanted to have this baby. She didn’t need a lot, of course. Most of the things she had given up were exchanged for things for the baby, clothing, the first furniture. Aurora had packed all of it into just a few boxes, which she could easily carry to Marcus’ place. They would live together, it still felt surreal, but he wanted this baby as well. He wanted to witness the remaining pregnancy and be there for the baby and they would change the name on the permit to Marcus’ name, if they could, making the baby his in all cases. Aurora picked up a onesie, holding it with a soft smile.
As the door opened, she expected it to be Marcus, probably wanting to help her with the boxes. The hand on her ass just confirmed the idea in her mind. That changed once the person opened his mouth. Grus. Aurora twisted out of his grasp, but he wouldn’t get the idea. The man came closer, pulled her to him, his hands going back to her ass. “What the hell, Grus? Let go of me!” Aurora protested. She would punch him. She knew he deserved it, this filthy piece of shit. “The way I see it, I won’t do that, Aurora. You see, I know about your little affair with Kane. If you don’t want your hubby to know, you’ll do me a little favor.” That, now, was seriously disgusting. Aurora was too shocked at what he suggested, at how his hand traveled up under her shirt to punch him. She felt physically sick at the suggestion, too sick to even open her mouth. He wasn't finished, it appeared. "I could make you."

Marcus was going to check on Aurora and make sure things were in motion for her to move in with him. While he had not forgiven her for the lie, he was determined to make sure that nothing stopped them from moving forward. With time they could get past this! They only needed time to deal with everything between them. He had not left her because he had not felt something for her--he had done it because it would have ended both of their careers and he had not wanted to ask her to pick between her own and himself.
As he approached the door, he heard a voice telling someone they could make them, and he paused. Looking in he saw what was happening--and without needing to know more, he just reacted. Marcus didn't care that their were rules, he only saw that one of his officers were pressing her against the wall, and her face didn't hold passion. It was fear. Marcus walked forward and put his hand on the back of Grus' head and pushed it forcefully into the wall to the side of him. As Grus fell, Marcus grabbed his shirt, and hit him him. And then again. And then once more for his own satisfaction. Once the man had let her go, Marcus reached out to pull her behind him. "I think explanations are in order, Officer, and I would suggest you select your words with care." Though either way they were likely his last. Marcus was going to float the man for this.

Aurora tried to calculate her next moves. She could handle the guy, she knew she could, while she knew she was not necessarily stronger, she was more agile, usually. Things were different now. She was pregnant. The child in her rounded belly had taken priority in her thoughts ever since she learned of it, so right now all her calculations included the best way to keep his ugly hands off her belly and therefore her baby out of harms way. There was no time for her to react to anything. Once she realized the door had been opened, Marcus already started punching Grus. While she usually didn’t need his protection, this time she really did, this time she had been so focused on protecting the unborn, she had basically froze – not to mention how sick she felt at the suggestion of this guy. Finally, though, she managed to unfreeze herself. There was on man around whom she did not need to be careful with the unborn inside her, the father of the child, which was Marcus.
Aurora reached out, trying to still his hand, but he had already stopped punching the dirt out of Grus, maneuvered her behind him, as if to protect her and their baby. Maybe he did mean to do so. Aurora still saw, from her point behind Marcus, that Grus was not about to say anything, probably knowing an explanation might make his situation worse, since he was caught, not just by anyone, but by his superior. Aurora decided to speak instead.
“Guardsman Grus here, decided to try and blackmail me into sexual favors by threatening me with telling the husband I don’t have about the affair I don’t have. And then he proceeded to imply he would get the sexual favors regardless of my compliance to his blackmailing.” The man lunged at her, obviously in a desperate attempt to get himself out of the situation, but the damage was done already. Aurora didn’t even flinch, for some reason very sure in the man standing between them. Still as Aurora stood there, her hand still on Marcus, her hand trembled, all of her trembled. She also didn’t realize her other hand rested on her belly, protectively spread over where the unborn grew.
