An invisible thread connects Oh god please take the water! But it was no use. Then again, Baron supposed he should know Abra better than that. He knew what she was doing, and he knew that she was very . . . adamant about making her point. He stiffened when she brushed her lips against him, feeling frozen in place even though he should be doing something to remove her from here; even if it was sweeping her away to dance. But he also knew that parting company with the others would just make them . . . question his reason for wanting to be alone with her. The last thing he needed was that gossip to add to this. He didn't fail to notice the way she passed off the glass, and look of annoyance on his friend's face. Baron didn't even know who to apologize to!
His eyes slightly widened at her words. On any other occasion, they were of course flattering. Perhaps even now. But Baron was far too distracted with the watching eyes. The audience that were witnessing this show. "Not here," he mouth to her, his voice so low, it was barley a whisper. At that moment, he saw his friend with the glass approaching. "Here, Baron, drink some water," she offered, moving the glass towards his lips. He knew that she was trying to help by creating a distraction, but feeding him water only fed into his fears that it would encourage Abra with her . . . public displays of affection. And he didn't want either woman irritated.
"No, that's alright," he quickly dismissed, but since he was ready to jump out of his skin, the slight wave of his hand was enough to knock the glass out of his friend's hand and cause it to shatter to the floor. Baron stared at it with those same somewhat widened eyes, as his friend gasped with surprise. "I'm so sorry," he said a bit flustered, not even sure who he was apologizing to or for what. He crouched down, pulling out his handkerchief to start wiping up the water and attempting to bunch the glass together. "Don't clean it up, we'll get one of the waiters to do it," one of the men standing there said. But truthfully, Baron needed that time to regain his composure. Crouched on the floor, with a different line of sight, trying to figure out how to diffuse this situation.

Baron knew that in the broken contact of their lips, he should allow rationality to set back in. It should be enough time for him to fully recognize that this was not the place . . . and that he should step back. But, that time never came. Instead, he returned the kiss with equal fervency, parting his lips to allow her access as he drank in her addictive taste. His body shifted back with her pushing him . . . crossing the distance until he felt the edge of what he presumed was his desk against his lower back. Her hand on his buckle was doing nothing to cease his growing need for her. His hands went to her cheek, mouth working against hers, breathing heavily into the embrace.
His hands slid down her slender curves, resting on her waist. Not wasting a moment, he swiftly spun her around and lifted her up so that she was seated on the edge of the table, not breaking the contact of their lips. Her words registered somewhere in his mind, calling him a tease. Perhaps it was true . . . Baron wasn't even certain. He only knew that conflict was growing more and more difficult to battle. His hands moved to her knees, slightly parting her legs a little so that he could stand comfortably between them, her position on the desk giving her a slightly elevated height as he continued to kiss her.
His lips began to move along her jaw line, before moving downward as one hand moved to brush back her hair to give him access to her neck. With the now exposed skin, he created a trail of kisses along the plains of her neck while his other hand caressed her thigh, sliding up and down it. "We shouldn't . . . " He began to say between each kiss, breathless from the intensity of their interactions. "Go any further," he finally finished, though made no move to stop his actions, enjoying the taste of her skin, and the way she felt under his touch.

Baron smiled at her obvious shock, unable to form a sentence and it just made him more pleased that he could surprise her in this way. That he could make her smile, with the hope of making her feel appreciated and valued. He watched her as she approached him, moving closer to her as well as she teased that she was still mad at him. The smile still remained on his lips, wrapping his arms around her. "Well then, it's a good thing I have a three course meal planned to earn your forgiveness," he teased in return. He then leaned down, one hand going to gently cup her chin to tilt her head upward, until their lips met in a tender kiss.
He closed his eyes, the sensation of her lips so incredibly missed and basking in the emotions it always caused to stir within him. Slowly easing out of it, he opened his eyes, the smile reforming. "I missed you too," he added playfully, another tease referring her words of still being angry. His hand fell to hers as he wrapped his fingers around it, starting to lead her the few steps towards the table, always pulling out the chair out for her when she was there. "I hope you didn't have anything else planned tonight," he told her, having had a legitimate concern that she would be busy tonight. It was one of the many risks of attempting to surprise someone.

Baron hadn't been able to rest his mind in the time following their argument via text messages. He knew it wasn't something they would break up over but . . . none the less. He didn't feel right about it. He cared about Abra so much, and he also knew this distance was not helping matters. So he had made a decision: he was going to fly down to her to surprise her. Quickly making arrangements, and getting things in order, he was on a flight back to the States to see her. He wanted to -- needed to -- make this right and another texting conversation or a phone call just wasn't going to cut it.
He needed to not only tell her how much she meant to him, but also, show her. And that was something that needed to be done in person. Once the flight landed, he didn't waste any time. He quickly stopped at his house to drop off his things and change. Somewhat formal attire because tonight, was going to be a special one. He then went to get some groceries, candles, and flowers. Part of him hoped she wasn't home and when they pulled up to her place, relief set in upon not seeing her car. He bid his driver goodbye, knowing it was best that no one would see his car in the lot. Making his way he set to work. A matter of a few hours later, everything was set.
A romantic homecooked meal he prepared, with a set table, dimmed lights, and candles to make up for the rest of the lighting. Flowers were placed in a vase in the middle. Baron adjusted the crooked fork, eyeing over everything to make sure it looked perfect. He wasn't sure why he felt nervous, but he could have sworn his heart skipped a beat when he heard the key unlock. Quickly taking off his apron and folding it to the side, he straightened up and stood next to the table, hands folded behind him and smiled when he saw her enter her apartment. "Welcome home."

An invisible thread connects If looks could kill, he supposed his dear friend would be dead by now. For Baron did not miss the way Abra cast her a glance. And in mere moments after -- while the others, and Baron even were still recovering from the initial display -- Abra was clearly not finished. Baron knew his heart was only going to beat faster with her hand now on it, and her lips by her ear. He let out a breath of amusement, somewhere between a slight chuckle and a huff of awkwardness. Her words just adding to it; her less than subtle suggestions of what the rest of this night would entail.
He swallowed, eyes slightly widening, trying to think of something to cover up the lingering silence following her words. Fortunately, one of the others spoke up -- though Baron wasn't entirely certain whether that was actually fortunate or not. "You have quite a passionate one there, Baron," the man teased with clear amusement in his voice. "Yes . . . yes, she's um . . . " Passionate. That was the word to use, though Baron knew the true cause of these, public display of affections. "Very much so," was all he could think to finish it off with.
"We still have a ways to go," he told Abra, glancing at her, and trying to avoid eye contact with the rest of the group, though he could feel their eyes burning onto him and his partner. "Why don't I get you some water," he suggested, raising his hand to one of the waiters while casually trying to tilt his head away from her teeth. It was true, the sensation of it felt nice but not when there were watchful eyes upon them. Fortunately, the waiter saw him and approached with a few cups of water. There was no way Baron was giving her any alcohol tonight. Reaching for the glass and thanking him, he extended it to Abra and said in a low voice. "To cool you off." And she most certainly needed it.

Baron knew that this wasn't a healthy way to settle an argument -- not that anything was settled. He was fully aware that a conversation would still need to happen. But right now, he just needed to silence their words. He wanted to show her that there was no reason to feel . . . how she felt, about any other woman. That, and his emotions had just gotten the better of him. Her own reaction more than encouraging as he felt her nails drag down his clothed back. He breathed against her lips, letting out a huff of breath before sharply inhaling as she nipped at his lip. But it wasn't enough to stop him.
He wondered if anything was at this point. She paused, at which point he took advantage of the brief break by taking in a few breaths before the broken contact was too much to bare, and their lips found one another's with unsated hunger. His chest heaved against hers, basking in her attentions, as he did the feel of her body. One hand gently squeezed her thigh before roaming over her, the other falling at her other side. And somehow, they began to slide under the fabric of her shirt, until he felt the heat of her skin. His palms ran over her sides, not pulling her shirt up completely but hoisting it a little. The way she said his name was music to her ears.
But with the word, and recognition of where his hands were, and what he was close to doing . . . realization of where he was quickly set in: his office. It was late, but that didn't mean someone couldn't just wander in. He slowly broke out of the kiss, but didn't go far, their lips brushed against one another as he heavily breathed against her, his forehead touching Abra's. He couldn't pull his hands away with the same ease he had his lips -- and even then, it was damn difficult to do so. The internal battle causing him to look at her through heavily lidded eyes, filled with passion, his hands slowly slipping out from under her shirt. He feared the return of the conversation, not wanting it. And only wanting her.

This wasn't Baron's idea of fun. The tables had turned quite a bit. Once a woman who had been hired to kill him, was now being threatened by the same people that had hired her. But Baron was not vindictive enough to want her dead. In fact, quite the opposite. He had offered a deal to protect her. And, the deal would have been fine . . . had she not been evading his men every chance she got. So now, Baron was here. Forced to keep an eye on her. In the long run, it would be for the best, but unfortunately, even he didn't know how long it would be. Right now, they were staying in, the danger of going out too great at this moment. He was engrossed in a book, the background of the tv distant enough for him to fully concentrate on the text.
That is, until he felt a nudge against him. Baron didn't look up or even verbally reply. Instead, still reading the words on his page, he reached for a book on the stand right next to him, and without saying anything, extended it to her; suggesting that she too read a book if she was bored. Somehow, he knew that wasn't going to satisfy her boredom. "I think you and I have different ideas of fun," he finally stated, still looking at his book. After a few more moments, he finally looked up from the text and over at her. "What would you suggest?" He asked her, already regretting the question but . . . there was no harm in asking after all.

When the winds of change blow, some people build walls Baron gave a slight smile of understanding upon Lincoln's immediate response. Tired. Exhaustion all consuming for many of them: physically, mentally, emotionally. Tiredness that people could not so easily recover from, nor rest from. Perhaps, the tiredness all stemmed from one thing that everyone was forced to do: survive. A slight breath escaped Baron as the small smile remained. "Fine," he repeated the word, not looking at Lincoln but rather, gazing out in front of him at nothing in particular.
"The number of times I've heard that answer . . . " he began to say. "Is far more than the number of times I believe it." Because fine, was just a generic response. One meant to conceal the true emotions of a person. Whether it was because they did not wish to talk about it, or they did not want to burden the person who asked. "It's ok not to be fine," he assured him. "I just want you to know, that I'm here if, fine isn't exactly the answer you want to give." Baron knew Lincoln had others he was far closer to, but sometimes, the people you were closest to, were the ones that you tried to remain the strongest for. And Baron wanted Lincoln to know that with him, he didn't have to worry about that.

Baron had taken off word a couple hours early, telling them to only call him if it was an emergency. Truth was, he wanted to spend the rest of the evening with Lincoln. He knew his friend was going through a difficult time, and when Baron was in town, he wished to be there for him as much as he could. To help him through his addiction. He was so proud of the progress Lincoln had made, never having gone through it but knowing it couldn't have been easy. It was either detox on his own, or go to rehab, and Lincoln had made good on his promise. Baron was not oblivious to that. So with that thought in mind, he wished to spend time with his good friend, whether it be taking him out for dinner, or just ordering in.
Or well, doing whatever Lincoln wished and had the energy for. As Lincoln wasn't picking up his phone, Baron headed straight over to his place, part of him wondering if everything was ok. When he pulled up at his house, he saw his car in the driveway, assured that he was home. He then made his way to the front door, noticing that it was open which . . . in part only added to his concern. When he stepped inside, he saw Lincoln scrambling to hide something, but Baron's eyes locked on it.
His expression fell, not even paying attention to Lincoln's words or accusation. Baron absentmindedly closed the door behind him, not even paying attention to the action as his eyes were fixed on the syringe, then, on Lincoln who he could tell had already administered it. No explanation of why Baron was here came to his lips, nor justification of having just entered without knocking. He hadn't even overly considered what to say. He just knew that two words numbly came out of his lips, filled with hurt as was worn on his expression. "You promised."

An invisible thread connects This charity event was particularly special. Not only because of the cause behind it, but because Abra was accompanying him. She was here, in the country he was from . . . in his home. It meant the world to him, and placed him in a rather good mood as he felt like everything was coming together. As the evening went on, they casually parted company, trusting her to be able to mingle with the different people. Baron was currently talking with a small group, until he heard and saw Abra approach, stating that she was looking for him. Before he could assess whether everything was alright, or even introduce her to the people he was with, she moved directly in front of him, and pulled him down for a kiss.
His eyes remained open, body still from the shock of the embrace. And . . . it was no light or innocent kiss. It was heated. Passionate. Slow. And, very too intimate for an audience. His eyes briefly glanced around, not able to fully register the reactions of those he had been conversing with. Some awkwardly lowered their gazes to the ground, while others stare wide eyed in shock at the very public display of affection. Baron could have sworn he even heard someone clear their throat from the awkwardness. He couldn't exactly reject Abra -- nor would he ever want to. Her tongue skimming along his lip, the way she coaxed his mouth open.
He closed his eyes, casually bringing up a hand to her cheek as if to somehow telepathically encourage her to ease out of it. Whether it worked or not, he hadn't the faintest idea. But soon enough, she parted their lips, leaving Baron slightly breathless, and even more slightly wide eyed as he just looked at her. Caught off guard and trying not to look as frazzled as he felt. Another clearing of his throat caused him to break the eye contact and glance around at the onlookers who just stood silently.
One of them pointed to their own lips, which took Baron a few moments to understand. He put his fingers on his lips in realization, pulling out a handkerchief from his pocket and wiping the lipstick off of it. But . . . Abra continued to be distracting. That way she licked her own lips making Baron's heart beat heavier in his chest and so relieved that no one was close enough to him to hear it. After wiping his lips he let out a bit of an awkward laugh. "No," he answered, straightening his shirt and blazer. "This is. . . . " His mind went blank for a brief moment.
"Abra," he introduced to the few people around him. He smiled as the rest did the same, one giving an awkward wave of greeting, while one extended their hand to her. Baron stuffed the handkerchief away, as he focused on evening his breath. His eyes went to Abra, wondering what exactly she was up to, only realizing the one person within the group that could have brought forth such an . . . intimate reaction from Abra. That realization hitting him when he watched the two greet each other. Trying to keep composed, he adjusted the collar on his shirt a little, swallowing back any uncertainty and replacing those feelings with a smile as he just nodded at the two of them.

Baron moved with her hand, his head tilting downward to keep her gaze. A softness in his eyes and a smile to match as she spoke of how he was a good leader. How he had the respect of the clans . . . how they listened to him. Baron continued to hope and pray that it was true. Despite the opposition that existed. He wondered if he would ever achieve his goal, his father's dream in his lifetime. He was certainly determined to. Because, should he have children . . . he did not wish to place this burden upon them. "I hope they continue to do so." Listen to him, to them all.
"I wish to make my father proud." Whether he was still somewhere in this world or not. His smile grew when she offered to take care of his enemies for her. He knew what Abra was capable of, so there was a legitimacy in such words. He leaned down to lightly kiss her on the lips before resting his head again to where it was. "I feel stronger with you by my side," he began to say. "Not because I know you can take care of an enemy," he said with light teasing, though there was truth to his words. "But more, emotionally." He looked down at her. "You give me strength." A strength that he had not had before.

You can be the moon Baron looked up from his phone upon reading her last couple messages, clenching his jaw at the emotion that it brought forth. Part of him wanted to call her, but he was all too aware that he was still in his building and that anyone could overhear the conversation. Plus, he doubted either of them had the emotions fully in check to have a verbal conversation. Not any time, he replied.
She is family, Abra. He could practically hear her voice when reading what she wrote, and his own tone was growing stern. I can not have anything happen to her. He didn't even want to begin to imagine the grief that would ensue. Because, well, he knew what Abra was capable of. Swear to me that you will not do anything. Ever. Take out your anger on me, but not anyone else that you may consider at fault. Do whatever she wanted to him, but he couldn't allow anything to happen to those his family was close to . . . or those that were practically considered to be family.

Baron was not entirely certain how Abra was going to react. The nature of their kiss was different than any other before. Born of pent up frustrations and jealousy . . . unleashed in this very, passionate outlet. So when she pushed him back, Baron staggered though few steps to create some distance between them. There was an apology on the tip of his tongue, recognizing that he may have gone too far . . . yet the words did not come out. Perhaps a few moments of uninterrupted silence between them and they would have. But soon enough, Abra grabbed him by the shirt and kissed him with the same -- if not more -- heated zeal than he had.
Baron immediately reacted. His arms wrapped around her, skimming over her back while one went to the back of her head, fingers weaving through her golden locks. With his hold on her, he took a few steps forward, forcing her back until she was against the wall. He pressed his entire body against her, keeping her somewhat pinned in this position. His lips hungrily moving against her mouth, tongue slipping between her lips in a battle for dominance. Breathing heavily through the kiss, as if he was a suffocating man in need of oxygen; her being the air he needed to find ease. One hand went back to her waist, his other skimming in a repeated path along the side of her body, unable to touch her enough with this heated frenzy.

Baron smiled at Monty's teasing remark. How refreshing it was, to see that the weight of whatever Monty had to endure -- for he knew that it must have been far from easy -- had not broken him down. That he was still able to offer such a light hearted remark. And it only filled Baron's heart with more joy that he was reunited with his dear friend. "Is that your way of saying you found a grey hair on my head?" Baron teased back. "But so did you," he added on, raising his hand to give a slight ruffle to Monty's much shorter hair now. The years showed, but not in his spirit. The years showed on all of them Baron imagined. His soft smile returned, his hand going to Monty's shoulder. "I missed you too," he told him sincerely, looking into his eyes with relief and happiness.
He took in his next words, explaining that most of them had returned . . . that they had to leave some people behind temporarily. "What matters is that you're all alive. And those who could make it home, did." He was certain that there was a story behind that, and Baron would ask at the right moment. Right now, he was still basking in the joy their reunion elicited. He forced his expression to remain, though his smile lessened, it was still upon his overall expression. "It's been, challenging." That was the best word he could use to describe it. "But probably no more than what you had to go through." Because everyone had their own sets of challenges. "I'm just. . . so happy you're here, Monty," he told him genuinely, giving his shoulder a bit of a pat.
