So gather ye demons, it seems it's your day I sin but I've paid more than ten thousand graves It was late in the evening on a Friday night and Abra was sitting on the couch, the television was on but it was background noise as she wasn't paying attention to it. She was watching the clock on the wall, watching the seconds slowly ticking by. Every now and then her gaze would shift to the other end of the couch, where Baron was sitting, reading a book about politics or something equally as boring.
They were having a good old fashion sleepover like teenagers; and not the kind that involved no clothing and trysts in the bedroom, which was preferable. Baron had her on lock down. He was refusing to let her leave her own damn apartment, refusing to even let her out of his sight. It wasn't her fault his man were easily tricked, and even easy to give the slip.
And all of this was because someone wanted her dead. The plot twist? The same person trying to kill her was the same person who had hired her to kill him. Abra understood; loose ends needed tying but the irony of it wasn't lost on her. The hunter was now the hunted, the killer now at risk of being killed. If she hadn't been so irritated about the entire situation she might have found it amusing.
Instead, she was left inflamed and glaring at the man she blamed. If Baron had just died when he was meant to, none of this would be happening right now. "Hey." She called while unfolding a leg and nudging her foot against his thigh. "I'm bored. Let's do something fun."

This wasn't Baron's idea of fun. The tables had turned quite a bit. Once a woman who had been hired to kill him, was now being threatened by the same people that had hired her. But Baron was not vindictive enough to want her dead. In fact, quite the opposite. He had offered a deal to protect her. And, the deal would have been fine . . . had she not been evading his men every chance she got. So now, Baron was here. Forced to keep an eye on her. In the long run, it would be for the best, but unfortunately, even he didn't know how long it would be. Right now, they were staying in, the danger of going out too great at this moment. He was engrossed in a book, the background of the tv distant enough for him to fully concentrate on the text.
That is, until he felt a nudge against him. Baron didn't look up or even verbally reply. Instead, still reading the words on his page, he reached for a book on the stand right next to him, and without saying anything, extended it to her; suggesting that she too read a book if she was bored. Somehow, he knew that wasn't going to satisfy her boredom. "I think you and I have different ideas of fun," he finally stated, still looking at his book. After a few more moments, he finally looked up from the text and over at her. "What would you suggest?" He asked her, already regretting the question but . . . there was no harm in asking after all.

So gather ye demons, it seems it's your day I sin but I've paid more than ten thousand graves If he was listening closely he might be able to hear the exasperation as she rolled her eyes. Abra took the book he handed over and immediately tossed it to the floor, uninterested in its content. She straightened up in her seat to lean across the space between them when he looked at her. She perched dangerously close to him, her hands on his thigh to balance herself as she pouted playfully.
"Let's go to the movies," she proposed. "Or go get dinner together, something normal couples do." Abra was certain he would not agree. Baron has proven to be quite stubborn, more so than the men in his employment, who were considerably easier to dupe, or sneak away from. Baron was a different game of chess. "We could even go do paperwork! Anything is better then being stuck in here for another minute -" with you she wanted to add but thought better of it.
In truth Abra was just tired of being stuck inside. She was a wild card, a joker in a deck of cards, and being contained in the same four walls drove her crazy. She needed to be outside, breathing in the cold night air, doing something, not sitting around waiting to die.
