However Baron's father disappeared, Baron took over the responsibility. He now serves as the clans leader, and works to legitimize their dealings. He resides with his mother and sister, and has a close few he considers family.
|
modern mafia leader and blind verse
Baron is still the leader of all the clans, however, he accompanied his father on that trip when they were both attacked. In turn, Baron was blinded. An invisible thread connects In all the amusement that Abra was experiencing . . . Baron held the exact opposite sentiment. She spoke of how he was mistaken if he thought she was going to leave. "I suppose me thinking you might leave, only encourages you to stay longer," he said with sarcasm, though there was of course truth to it. She seemed to be enjoying this situation a little too much. He didn't miss the way her eyes moved over him, and it caused him to casually cross his arms across his chest.
He straightened his shoulders at her next question, tilting his chin up slightly. "No. Why would I be?" He questioned. "Were you planning on doing something to make me feel nervous?" It was only partly a rhetorical question. "Because I already told you, I don't need your hands on me." He paused for a moment, knowing how that sounded and the implications of it. "For a massage," he quickly clarified.

Baron felt the relief continue to wash over him. Though he knew through word of mouth that Monty was alive, it was different to see it for himself. To feel the man in his arms. It felt more . . . real. As fate wasn't exactly always kind to them with all that everyone had endured. He continued to smile, taking in his Monty's words. The uncertainty of whether the other was alive for six years, finally washed away with the reality of the situation. They were both here, and even if it wasn't for long . . . at least they had this moment to find solace in the fact that the other had survived for so many years.
"So are you," Baron answered. He slowly drew back his head, the smile still upon his lips as he took in the sight of Monty. "I can't tell you how good it is to see you Monty," he expressed. "Are all of you back?" He asked, knowing Monty had a partner and friends that he had gone to space with. Baron hadn't heard of anyone not making it back, but he wanted to ask just to be sure.

Baron wondered if that was true; that she was already awake but, he was not going to question it. He softly smiled as she placed a light kiss in the palm of his hands, basking in the sensation of the soft touch of her lips. When she moved, Baron adjusted his arm so that it was wrapped around her, comfortably nestling her against him, another smile crossing his lips when she kissed him. It was indeed a comfort, one that surged through his entire body, placing it at ease now that he was awake. And with her. "I'm fine," he answered, though pause after giving the response.
Being with her, meant complete and utter honesty. He wanted to tell her, wanted to open up to her. Especially since something like this could happen again and he didn't want her to worry. "Ever since I lost my father, I've been having these . . . dreams." That was the most simple way he could put it. "Just about work. And the repercussions should I fail in mediating and keeping peace between then clans." Or in other words, being a good leader. He softly smiled, not wanting to dwell on such a grim subject. "It's honestly nothing to worry about," he reassured her, kissing the side of her head.

You can be the moon Baron felt a wave of relief wash over him when she said that she forgave him. A smile reappeared on his lips but upon reading her next statement, he faded. Knowing her . . . work history, something told him that she wasn't bluffing when she spoke of needing to take care of someone. Abra, don't harm her please, he began to say. She's a good friend of my family's. And besides, her father is a clan leader. You know the wrath that can bring if something happens to her. He was well aware that this could regress his efforts in convincing Abra that there was nothing going on.
But his words were true. She was a friend, and Baron was considering his sister's feelings towards her as well. I will tell you next time, but you have to promise me that you won't harm anyone that you don't, approve of. That was the best way he could phrase it. Part of him felt flattered that she felt so strongly about him, the possessive nature endearing. Yet, the other part of him . . . the part of him that remember how he and Abra met, made him feel worried for whoever was on the receiving end of her anger.

Baron gave a small nod in acknowledge as he stated that he could walk a little. Possibly. That wasn't entirely reassuring for Baron to leave the man on his own and risk the others returning. Because Baron had no doubts they would if they decided that he had not 'handled' the situation well enough. "Do you want to go to the hospital?" The offer was there. And Baron would make sure that any medical records of today's visit would disappear well enough for the others not to track them. But, it would only be a matter of time until they uncovered his identity. It was all the more reason that Baron did not wish to part ways with him so quickly.
The last thing he wanted was an innocent person to get caught in the crossfires of things that shouldn't even be happening in the first place. "My name is Baron," he told him, answering his question. "And believe it or not, I want to help you." His voice sincere and still holding the composed tone to it. "Because, despite what you said, I know you saw something. And I know you must be scared right now." Who wouldn't be?! "But I can help you. If you let me." Baron of course didn't want to force his protection upon the other. It would be a lot easier if the young man let him help him.

It wasn't uncommon for Baron's work to lead him to this part of the world. Especially since he was trying to strengthen their international connections. He was attempting to do a lot of things to change the shape of their business, which was also why he was in this particular area. Sources had told him that one of the clans was doing a hit, and they all knew how Baron felt about violence. He was working to try and rid their businesses of such illegal activity, especially being in a foreign country now. He had little tolerance for such dealings -- among other illegal ones. But the exact location of the hit, had yet to be determined. It seemed fate would answer the question for him though because as him and the three men that accompanied him rounded a corner, a young man collided into Baron. The strong impact of it caused the leader to stagger back a little, his men fully prepared to brace him before he fell but it was not necessary.
Fortunately, Baron's instincts kicked in, but the same could not be said for the young man. Baron was about to extend his hand to help him up when he let out a sound of pain and it was clear that he had injured himself. The look on his face, the breathlessness . . . only a few moments passed when two other men approached, with a similar heaving chest. Baron looked at them, and then the young man who immediately said he saw nothing. Well, it seemed that Baron knew what happened without witnessing it. Baron casually took a step forward towards the two other man, now standing between the witness and the others. "I'll handle him" Baron told them in their Native tongue. The men looked unsure, uncertain, for they had been caught in something they knew they shouldn't be.
"But Sir. . . " They began in the same foreign language. Baron took another step towards them. His expression and demeanour was completely composed, unnervingly so as he locked eyes with him. "Go." And it was clear that he was not going to say it again. The men eyed the boy and reluctantly moved away. Baron knew exactly who they were and would address this issue later. But, he also knew that this young man was far from safe. Baron did not need to watch them as they fell out of sight. They would not be foolish enough to make any attempt right now. So the leader turned to the injured man, moving to stand in front of him. "Can you walk at all?" He asked, genuine concern in his voice since he the injury was obviously in the young man's foot.

"That's probably not a compliment," Baron said jokingly, though there was some truth to it as well. Monty remebering meeting Baron probably had more to do with him nearly getting caught that Baron leaving any sort of impression on the young man. Which brought them to the next point of Monty admitting he had stolen something and lied. Baron gave a bit of a smirk. "I never quite knew what you were up to that day," he admitted in return. And fearing the answer, Baron had not opened an official investigation after the incident. He had just let it go. "I would have thought your close call would make you rethink breaking the law again," he said with a clear tease in his voice. He still recalled that disappointment he felt upon discovering that Monty Green had gotten arrested. He looked at Monty once more when he revealed that he was going to medical and the reason for it. "I dont think they will," Baron told him. "We have limited resources, especially medicine." And with the ceasefire, it wasnt as if they could go far. "But more than that, you shouldnt use it," he added. "Have you tried meditation?" Relaxing the body and mind as it had helped Baron many a times to escape a present situation or hardship. "I just came from medical," he began to answer, giving Montys question a truthful response. "And was going to check on you next." He figured Monty would know why. Monty Green

It had been too good to be true. Freedom was finally upon them. When the sun had first touched them after so many years, Baron had just closed his eyes and soaked it all in. To be in space for their entire loves, to be teased with the earth's air for only a few months, only to be enclosed once more. It was not something Baron would ever take for granted. But . . . he knew this all came at a terrible price. There were already tensions with another returning civilization and as a result, they had lost one of their doctors. Still. They could only move forward from here. More good news was bestowed upon them when there was word that most of those who had gone up into space had returned. Baron had of course been concerned for them. He considered Monty a dear friend, and not knowing if they had even made it up there alive . . . well, Baron did not dwell on such negative thoughts anymore.
They were here -- apparently -- and Baron was determined to find them. Or him rather. The bunker was in a bit of choas with the new arrivals and readjusting. Despite them being free, many stayed in the comfort of their designated rooms. It was after all they had known for so many years. And . . . many of them were not the same after some of the horrific events that unfolded. And the horrific things they were forced to do. Mind over matter. That was what he had to keep reminding himself. And where he could offer support to others, he had. But right now . . . he was in search of someone he had not seen for six years.
It was as if fate had heard his request to find him, because while moving down the halls of the bunker, Baron collided into someone. His hands instinctively reached out to brace the other before they fell, Baron's hands rested on the other person's arms. An apology was on the tip of his tongue until he saw who it was that he had collided into. Surprise numbed him and realizing his hands were still on now who was recognized as Monty's arms . . . Baron took advantage. Instead of saying anything, he wrapped his arms around Monty and gently pulled him in for a hug. "I think we're past apologies," he told him as he closed his eyes, a soft tease in his voice-- not that they ever actually apologized when they ran into each other.

You can be the moon Baron read over her words carefully. He wasn't sure whether to find it endearing or concerning. But, what he did know was that upon reading her second statement, he was certainly made a mistake in not informing her. That the distance was difficult for them both. And that, she did not seem to approve of . . . what Baron still perceived as a friendship. Though he did know the subtle comments his mother and her father would make. Still. His priority was ensuring Abra felt respected.
I promise it is not like that between us, Abra, he attempted to reassure. I have known her since I was a child. And we have never been anything more than friends. In the time he was adopted by his father and accepted into the Tseng family. I'm sorry that you had to find out this way. I know the distance is difficult, and I never meant to upset or hurt you. With the distance, time differences, and busyness of their lives . . . well, it was all difficult to cope with. Next time I'll tell you ahead of time. So that she didn't find out this way. Will you forgive me? Because he would take full ownership of it.

Be not afraid of growing slowly,
Baron wasn't entirely surprised by the young man's attitude. He also knew the views of those from factory station for instance when it came to the council. But in Baron's specific field, it was his job to help bridge those communication gaps. Starting by treating everyone equally. "Thank you," he said politely as he took his ID, quickly looking over it. The name matching and the number on it, one that Baron would look into later. He then listened attentively as Monty began to explain his story of what happened -- deciding to ignore his quips of sarcasm. Baron knew that objectivity was key in this position, and so he would give Monty the benefit of the doubt. And validating the concerns of another was a key factor.
"I understand your concerns," he began to say, passing the ID back to him. "It is understandable that you would fear the repercussions of an accusation, false or legitimate." Baron was not disillusioned; he knew that some of the members of the guard were on a power trip. "But a word of advice? Running from the situation only adds doubt. If I had not been here, the Guardsman could have arrested you for fleeing from an officer." It was no threat, merely a friendly suggestion should Monty find himself in a similar position. "Because you're right, Monty. It should be innocent until proven guilty. Not guilty until proven innocent." A means of justice that sometimes got abused, but one they strove to uphold. "If I may ask, what was the accusation he made towards you?" So that Baron could have the whole story.

Baron smiled at Monty's tease, glad that the man felt at ease enough to make a jesting remark. "You give me too much credit for creative ways to meet someone," he teased in return. Certainly would be one interesting way to be in the company of another. "Lucky for you, I still remember your name from the first time we met." Baron had strove to learn as many of the delinquents names as he could.
He was after all the communications liaison, so when they finally made contact with the Ark, he was helping organize the parents and delinquents communications. Baron then gave a nod of acknowledgement when Monty accepted the offer of his company. "Where were you heading to before we bumped into each other?" Baron asked curiously. "I wouldn't want to stray you too far from your course." The words able to take so many more meanings . . . but in this case, he just meant it in regards to where his destination was at this late hour.

The events of Mount Weather had weighed heavily on them all. Some more than others. It was truly a tragedy what happened. Dire circumstances forcing people to do what otherwise may be considered unimaginable. But Earth seemed to be all about survival. And not only that . . . but the survival of your people. An entire civilization had ended to ensure the survival of their people. It was a chilling thought; to see how they all placed value of human life. The grounders. The Mountain Men. The Arkers.
With the physical and emotional healing that everyone was undergoing, Baron offered whatever support he could. Giving aid to those traumatized, lending assistance to whatever tasks were required. Perhaps the most difficult coping period was night time. When all were asleep. When Arkadia was silenced. When they were forced to be left with their thoughts. Baron had made his rounds to those in medical to help them sleep; to help relax their minds enough to find the peace of slumber. But instead of returning to his assigned room, there was one individual that he wished to check on. For he was one of the people who was forced to make a decision no one should ever have to make.
Lost in his thoughts, Baron collided into someone who rounded the corner, and he couldn't help but smile with amusement when he saw who it was. The very man he sought out to see . . . and one who also acknowledged the pattern of their meetings. "Whether we're in the sky or on the ground, you and I seem to be on a perpetual collision course," he teased. Though Baron was truly grateful for it. "But don't worry. I won't ask for your ID this time," he further playfully remarked. "No," he then answered regarding the lack of sleep. He knew he didnt need to ask Monty the redundant question. "Care for some company?" He asked, not wanting to force his presence on the other. "I certainly wouldn't mind some," Baron offered, just in case Monty didnt want to admit that he himself could use the company. So Baron turned it around to make it sound like Monty would be helping him by being in each others presence.

Baron tried to keep his body from tensing, knowing that someone else was in the room and potentially saw the stupidly and recklessly acquired injuries. Fortunately, she made her leave soon enough and the aroma of coffee filled the air. Though, Nao seemed to read Baron's mind for Baron could hear the cup sliding away, the smell growing distant, and Naoya telling him that he could drink it after he looked at his hands. Sometimes, Baron felt that Naoya knew him better than he knew himself. Reluctantly, but conceding, he extended his hands for Naoya to look at. His jaw clenched, not from the tender way that Nao cleaned his wounds . . . but just the fact that he had to. The gentleness in which he tended to him was . . . well, enough to calm Baron's body, soul and mind. But then, Naoya often had that effect on him. He gave a smile when Nao complimented his own word.
"I'll take your world for it," he told him with the returned playfulness. He felt the immediately loss of the warmth and soft touch of Nao's hands when he placed them now wrapped in a bandage, back on the table. It was, probably for the best. To not let such touches linger. "Thank you," Baron told him with sincere gratitude. He then leaned slightly forward before speaking again. "May I have my coffee now please?" He asked him. It was indeed ironic, considering Baron's position and rank. Yet, at the same time, there was no hierarchy between them. Baron complied with Nao's words, whether they be requests or demands. And he was perhaps one of the few that held that sort of . . . power over Baron.

Baron could feel the ache in his heart intensify as he felt the tremble of her shoulders. Indicating the sob, the sound albeit muffled, but still evident of tears. He hated seeing her like this, feeling so helpless to make it better. How could he? What could he offer her? Nothing. The loss was out of even his control and it just made everything worse. His eyes remained closed, his hand moving to the back of her hand to gently stroke it. As if her non verbal reaction was not heartbreaking enough, her words added more to it. The fact that she felt she had something to apologize for.
Baron knew he had to remain strong. He served as a pillar of support for her mother and sister when they lost their father. And he knew that right now, Abra needed that. For he could only assume that she was unused to having that. She was one of the strongest women he knew and for her to feel this way . . . well, it broke his heart. "You have nothing to apologize for," he said softly, voice filled with the utmost sincerity. "And no reason to hold back," he added, placing another light kiss on the top of her head. He wanted her to know that she could let it all out. That he would just hold her, and be here for her. He was whatever she needed him to be.
