And while you are sitting indoors waiting for the storm to pass I will be outside dancing in the rain
❧ Leia's jaw clenched as he spoke, her hands curling into fists. He was right -- there was nothing she could do, not for Jasper, not for Clarke, not for any of them. She was useless, a burden, but that knowledge didn't stop his words from twisting the knife in her heart. Leiana was quiet for a long while, staring at the colorful sky, refusing to look at him and let him see the hurt and anger in her eyes, on her face. She didn't want him to know that his words hurt. It would only give him satisfaction and power over her. And yet... she looked. Just a peek out of the corner of her eye and caught the smirk on his face. She scoffed and shifted and looked back ahead. "Would you care even if I did?" Leia very much doubted he would; he probably cared as much for her opinion as he would for some else's. And she most certainly didn't care. Leiana didn't care for his attitude, or for how he stood there staring at her, and least of all that he had been shirtless.

It was late at night, with only a few guards on patrol and a a person lingering here or there. It should have been peaceful, it should have felt safe. Leiana still felt like a prisoner, like she hadn't actually escaped Mount Weather. There were still walls, still fences around her, fences that she wasn't allowed past without permission, without a valid reason, without adult supervision it seemed. She was still being treated like a child, like she couldn't take care of herself like she was some fragile, innocent thing. She hated it. Almost as much as she hated that the Ark had come to earth, that the adults had so casually taken charge.
It was why she was out so late; pacing, staring at the guards with irritation. That was until there was a noise, the sounds of an argument, caught her attention and she had began moving in that direction. She didn't know what to expect; probably some of the adults arguing about who was in charge, because that had apparently become a reoccurring thing while the delinquents were trapped in Mount Weather. Whatever she had expected, she wasn't surprised to see a man -older then her by a few years- arguing with two of the guards.
Leiana was careful not to get close enough to draw their attention to her, but close enough to be able to hear what was being said. She was curious; what was so important that they had to argue in the middle of the night?

And while you are sitting indoors waiting for the storm to pass I will be outside dancing in the rain
❧ She couldn't help but smile, pleased to see Clarke relax even if it was only for a moment. The young woman had the weight of the world on her shoulders, and more added every single day. It couldn't have been easy. One moment she was put up on a pedestal, looked to for help and hope, and other days she was treated with such kids gloves, as though she had no idea what she was doing or what was right or wrong. The truth was none of them were children anymore, they had all grown up when the adults had sent them to the ground. They had arrived naive, innocent, and childish.
And then they had discovered the grounders, and learnt more about the world they now lived in. It aged them fast; hardened their hearts, added cruelty and bitterness to their minds. But such thoughts were not ones Leia wanted to dwell on. Some days she wanted to live in a world of rainbows and butterflies where the bad things and sad thoughts didn't exist. It was silly to think that but some days she just couldn't help herself. "We definitely should. I think that would be a lot of fun. You, me, some food, some drink, just relaxing under the stars. That sounds like heaven right now."

For several long minutes Leiana didn't move, didn't say a word. She stared ahead, struggling to see the person seated at the fire. Her vision was blurred in the low light, a series of colors and shapes blending together. She could see that the person was small, feminine, entirely unfamiliar. "We don't have to fight." Leia spoke softly, keeping her voice low and gentle as to not cause anxiety. She moved forward one step at a time, allowing plenty of time for the woman to tell her to stop.
Leiana didn't want to move to fast, wanted to be prepared in case something happened. "We both need a place to stay for the night, until the storm settles, until the fog clears," she was hoping that pointing this out would help. They both needed to be here and there was no need for a fight. And yet she was ready for one, if that was what it came to. "I'm Leiana..."

❧ Leiana looked away from Arrow when he asked about Clarke. Her eyes looked sad, her mouth pulling down at the corners. "She's not here." She simply said. This was not a conversation she wanted to have right now, especially not here.
The fact of the matter was Clarke was her best friend and Leiana hated to see the woman struggle under the weight that had been placed on her shoulders. Leia wanted to help her, to carry some of the weight for her, but there was little a vision impaired woman could do. Right now Clarke was fighting for them, giving them hope and a reason to go one while she was in here, hiding with the others and it was upsetting. Arrow was right, each and everyone of them were easy targets.
They were only human, made of flesh and bone and blood. Prey waiting to be picked off one-by-one by the harshness that called post-apocalyptic earth home. All any of them wanted to do was survive -- that wasn't to much to ask, was it? "Do you want to know why I smile, Arrow? Why I try to be cheery when things are difficult?" Leiana was still looking away, trying to hide the emotion in her stare behind the fall of ebony locks.
She tried hard to be happy, to smile, to remind others there was still good in the world. Sometimes it was hard but she'd never stopped trying.
"I was sad all the time. I watched those I love get hurt, get killed, and suffer. I wasn't able to do anything to help them. If offering a smile or a few happy words helps them forget their pain for a little while, then its the least I can do for them.

And while you are sitting indoors waiting for the storm to pass I will be outside dancing in the rain
❧ Leia's breath become trapped in her lungs when the men began speaking. English, she understood them for once and was so thankful for this. If she wasn't being kept prisoner she would have been annoyed that he so quickly dismissed the possibility that she was a spy. But antagonizing her captors wouldn't do any good at all, so whatever emotions had been rising sank down when the man turned his attention to her. He was a good deal taller than she was, towering over her, making her feel smaller than she already was. His eyes were captivating; they spoke a dozen stories -- anger, hurt, betrayal, strength, intimidation, even ambition. He frightened her without any effort at all. But his hands were held up in the universal sign for 'hold on a damn minute' so she only stared at him, breath held, and as still as stone. Her back was pressed firmly against the wall, preventing a retreat as he approached. "No, I'm not." Her voice was soft, hesitant because that was technically a lie. She had come to spy on them, to gather information for Abby and Kane and Clarke. But Leiana knew she wasn't cut out to be a spy. Her heart wasn't ready for it, wasn't hardened enough for it. It was getting there, though... the ground had a way of doing that to a person. She let out a shaky breath and met his eyes. "Are you going to kill me?"

And while you are sitting indoors waiting for the storm to pass I will be outside dancing in the rain
❧ “Her name is Clarke.” Leiana corrected him with a firm tone. Wanheda was not a badge of honor and to her knowledge Clarke did not like being called that. Her gaze dropped away from his, as did the offered hand and the smile from her lips. He spoke only the truth, as much she wished that he didn't. Leiana was well aware that her cheery disposition was as much of a strength as it was a weakness. It drew attention to her when she wanted to be overlooked.
“Yes, I know that they are. I know this very well. But so are my people. Clarke isn't the only person that should be approached with caution.” Much had changed since the delinquents landed, even since the adults had landed. Leiana wasn't the same person she had been — she was far less trusting, less naive, less innocent. These days she questioned people, had learned to be more cautious, more suspicious. She had learned that nothing came without a cost and that others usually always wanted something.
So... Bellamy had taught her how to fire a gun and how to fight so that she wasn't such an easy target. She had started carrying weapons everywhere she went so that she could defend herself, and others if she could. Even now she thought about the knife hidden beneath the swell of her breasts and how neither Arrow nor anyone else would know it was there just by looking at her.
The truth was she was such a different person now. They all were. “Your people shouldn't make the assumption that I am an easy target because I choose to be happy during hard times.” Her words weren't meant to be a challenge or a threat. It was advice. Leiana wouldn't be a victim again, not after everything she had survived.

And while you are sitting indoors waiting for the storm to pass I will be outside dancing in the rain
❧ Leiana was taking the time to explore, to become more familiar with her surroundings and learn more about grounder culture when an unfamiliar voice sounded from behind her. She spun about, slightly surprised, making herself dizzy. She hadn't expected anyone to approach her and it took a moment for her heart to settle back into a normal rhythm and for her vision to clear enough for her to make out the features of the man standing before her. He was attractive, was a little taller than she was, a little older as well. She hadn't met him before -- surely she would have remembered his face.
He asked if her cheery disposition was all an act, and she could only smile softly. "Would you believe me if I told you it wasn't?" Leiana was a rarity even among her own people -- Thelonious had said she was one of the few sky people that embodied the best of their people. Maybe that was the reason she had been asked to come to Polis when Clarke had become ambassador to their people, to set a good example for others, to show their people held the capacity for kindness and not just violence. Or because she was less likely to offend the grounders the others. The truth was Leiana, for as many bad traits as she had, was a good person at heart. She cared deeply for her people but tried to see reason and logic where others only saw barbarism. And she was never intentionally cruel. Leiana never seemed to want people to suffer, even if they had hurt her.
"The world is a dark enough place without me adding to it, don't you think? And besides, I would rather be happy than miserable." She laughed softly and smiled again before offering him a hand to shake. "I'm Leiana."

❧ Leiana smiled awkwardly as she approached Gena, who was of course working. She wondered in she ever took a break or if she spent all of her free time experimenting. "I'd like that." She said, coming to stand at Gena's side and looking at the selection available. Leiana wasn't a huge drinker but when her heart was breaking or her feelings hurting she numbed the pain the easiest way she could--with alcohol. Once she started drinking she tended not to stop but at least if she had a few too many tonight it would be in good company.
Taking one of the concoctions that looked to be tinged pink, she took a small sip. "Well, I came to see what you were doing. I'm glad you're still awake, because I wanted to invite you out for a girls night." She was smiling at her, hoping that she would be interested in the idea. They both worked so hard--Gena more so--and certainly they had both deserved a night to themselves. A night without responsibility, without consequences, without a care in the world. "What do you think? Is this something you might be interested in?"

I used to but not anymore. These days I'm always wondering what a person is thinking. What their ulterior motives are, where they are hiding the knife they want to put in my back. It takes a lot to get me to trust you, and not a whole lot to break it.

What is your greatest fear?
Being a grounder prisoner. I've heard so many horrible stories about what they did to John when he was their captive. Lincoln told me some of their traditions. How brutal they can be. The thought of going through these tortures terrifies me.

How would you define love?
All consuming. Heartbreaking. Real love is hard. It doesn't come easily like in the fairy tales. It takes time and effort and often breaks your heart in the most beautiful ways.

In your opinion, what is the most unforgivable crime?
Betrayal. But not the kind where a person does something they promise they wouldn't. Or tells a secret they promised they'd keep. I mean the kind where you have given a person everything you have. Your heart, your trust, you time, your commitment. And they throw it all away.
