It was a long day. With searching for a viable solution - and finding one, at least for a few people - it ended in being a less nice option than they had hoped for. Only 100 people could survive in there, without a hydro generator.. And those were not many spots. She had a horrible task. A list of people that deserved to survive. It was cruel. It was necessary. It was not something she wanted to do. So once again instead of sitting down and putting pen to paper, she was wandering Arkadia, their last hope. Her name would not be on the list, this much she knew. Life was a cruel thing.
Her hands touched what she passed, as if trying to memorize it. Their time was running out. So many people she passed, would not survive this. So many fights. And some of them were for nothing. It wasn't fair. In the area where food was distrubuted she found a person she was friendly with. She didn't take to deeper connections lightly and that for good reason, but Leiana was easy to get along with and easy to not go into depth with, without feeling disconnected. It was a nice feeling, if she was honest. The simplicity was gorgeous, and more meaningful than others. "Leiana....any chance there is a drink here for me, too? And some...other things?"

And while you are sitting indoors waiting for the storm to pass I will be outside dancing in the rain
❧ Clarke's presence was one that never failed to brighten her days just a little bit. They got along well enough without their relationship becoming stressful or heartbreaking; and after all that had happened and all they had lost, that was a welcomed change. So when the blonde approached, Leiana, who was settled and having a drink and a small bite to eat, motioned for her to take a seat. “Yes, of course there is.”
She offered water and to share the meat she had been given with nothing more then a smile. There was never a need to force conversation with Clarke, which Leiana was thankful for. There were times when they sat in silence, simply enjoying each others company and the peace it provided. Sometimes that was all a person needed. To stop and take a few minutes to themselves otherwise might run themselves into the ground. “What else can I offer you, Clarke? Is there something I can help you with or would you just like someone to talk with?”

Maybe she was imagining things. Maybe what she thought she saw was not really there. She thought she saw a smile, even if it was just one of the fleeting, kind smiles she always had. It pained her so much and yet...it was a welcome change to just see her friend smile at her, even if it was just a short, small moment. Clarke needed a moment like that right now, more than anything, if she was honest. She had to decide over the fate of so many of her friends - luckily she knew some of her friends were on that list, some for reasons of them being essential personnel, others for the sake of the gene pool and for reproductive reasons. If it wasn't such a secret thing, she would probably have to test some people, but they had neither the time nor luxury.
Clarke nodded and took some of the water and food offered to her. "To be honest?" She asked Leiana. "I just need...a friendly face and a conversation that has nothing to do with blood, life or death or politics." She said softly. Everyone knew she was involved in these things, it has not been a secret in ages. She had no doubt that Leiana was just as aware. When was even the last time they had a moment? Let alone a moment together. "We haven't sat together in ages....was it at the drop ship maybe?" And if it was, well it showed how absent Clarke was for her friends even, for everyone. The burden she shouldered in part due to herself and to it being forced upon her. "No matter when, it has been too long."

And while you are sitting indoors waiting for the storm to pass I will be outside dancing in the rain
❧ Leiana smiled softly but looked away when an sad expression overcame her features. "I think it was in Mount Weather. We were having dinner with the others." Leiana remembered that day vividly, it was when Clarke had finally given in and eaten their food. Leiana hadn't felt safe in that mountain. She had thought it was too good to be true and had sided with Clarke without hesitation but she hadn't been able to help her friend at that time. Leiana would have been a burden so hadn't tried to tag along when Clarke was investigating, or when she escaped. Knowing what she did now, she wished she had have gone with Clarke instead of staying behind.
She pushed those thoughts from her mind, not liking the memories of Jasper fawning over Maya, or when they had learned they were practically prisoners of the mountain men, or when they had become their little lab rats. Leiana shook her head to dislodge such thoughts and turned to look at the blonde at her side. "You always have me, whatever you need, Clarke. A friendly face, nice conversation, quiet company. You know that." And Leiana meant that. She admired Clarke, liked her beyond words. If she was to be bold, she thought of Clarke as one of her best friends.
"Do you remember when we landed? The first party we had?" She said suddenly, changing the conversation to something that would hopefully not cause either of them any guilt or sorrow. "Monty had made moonshine and we went wild. Dancing, drinking, singing." She was smiling now, stifling a laugh as she thought about the tomfoolery they had gotten up to without adult supervision. "I don't think I've ever felt so free as I did that night."

A soft smile played around Clarkes lips as Leiana reminded her of the first party. It was a nice day, a good party. It was the first time on the ground she allowed herself to let loose, something she otherwise did not do. But Wells was gone and a flicker of hope lay over the camp. She could not help but let go back then. That was long before they knew how bad it would get. And now, now it was so different. Clarke felt like the girl back then was an entirely different person from who she was now. Sometimes she wondered if somewhere along the way, she should have chosen a different path. But then again, would they know about the death wave? Would they have a chance at all? Maybe not. Maybe she should be glad.
But now she got to be glad, that she had Leiana. There weren't many who just...allowed her to be herself. Some saw her as the leader, some saw her as a little kid, no matter what, people tried to push their influence on her every single day. She was just herself and let her be... that part of her that would otherwise be dead and silenced for good. "Oh I remember. Maybe we should bring this back to life. Just for the two of us? Let's just have a party tonight? Here, outside? Drink, eat, have fun! I think there are still berries out there."

And while you are sitting indoors waiting for the storm to pass I will be outside dancing in the rain
❧ She couldn't help but smile, pleased to see Clarke relax even if it was only for a moment. The young woman had the weight of the world on her shoulders, and more added every single day. It couldn't have been easy. One moment she was put up on a pedestal, looked to for help and hope, and other days she was treated with such kids gloves, as though she had no idea what she was doing or what was right or wrong. The truth was none of them were children anymore, they had all grown up when the adults had sent them to the ground. They had arrived naive, innocent, and childish.
And then they had discovered the grounders, and learnt more about the world they now lived in. It aged them fast; hardened their hearts, added cruelty and bitterness to their minds. But such thoughts were not ones Leia wanted to dwell on. Some days she wanted to live in a world of rainbows and butterflies where the bad things and sad thoughts didn't exist. It was silly to think that but some days she just couldn't help herself. "We definitely should. I think that would be a lot of fun. You, me, some food, some drink, just relaxing under the stars. That sounds like heaven right now."

Clarke was so glad Leiana was on board. She was perhaps the best person she knew. That was a great relief to her. The blonde got up and reached for the few supplies. She took some of the crunchiest pieces of bread, bottles of drinks and put them in a basket. It was as simple as that sometimes. They had fought so hard and the world might just end again. Not might. It will end. There was no way around it. The damage was done. Now it was just about saving what was left of the human race. And if she was honest that was not much. Sometimes she even questioned if it was worth saving, but then again, she might be called the commander of death, but she really took no pleasure in deciding the fates of others, she just... she was there. She had this burden on her and if she didn't people might die or others might have their insides shredded, like she did.
Clarke hooked her arm into Leias and started to pull her outside. She just knew where she wanted to take her. Towards the berry bushes. Clarke had learned that this was a favorite place of someone else, too, a ghost of the past she had never met, but they had taste, she thought. "Come on, girl. We have booze and foot and the world can... be the world without us for a night." At least she hoped it could. What if someone attacked? Usually she did nto get a break. But she desperately felt like she needed one. And now they were taking one. Clarke moved to the place and simply plopped herself down.

And while you are sitting indoors waiting for the storm to pass I will be outside dancing in the rain
❧ The world could be the world without them for a night. Leiana liked that. The would would still be there tomorrow, when morning came and their heads hurt from too much drink. Their friends would still be there, their enemies too, and the dangers. Everything would still be there when the night came to an end. So for just one night they could let their hair down, they could relax and stop worrying so darn much. Heavens knew that they both deserved it. Everything would be okay for a night. Everything would be there in the morning. They needed this; they needed to clear their heads and their hearts. That's what Leiana kept telling herself.
With her arm linked with Clarke's she laughed and followed her willingly. She didn't know where Clarke was taking her and she didn't care, as long as they were together. The best of friends they were, as thick as thieves some days. It was these moments that Leiana would cherish forever--even if the world came down today. She would never forget the few moments stolen from a cruel world. "It's going to be an amazing night!" She said as she fell down at Clarke's side, sprawling out next to her. They hadn't done this in so long that she hardly even remembered the last time they had been able to sit down and relax.
There was that time at Mount Weather but so much had happened, and so quickly, since then that it all jumbled together some days. Leiana intended to enjoy this moment while it lasted. With a grin she looked at her friend. "Think the adults will be pissed when they find us missing? Your mom might flip out again. She usually does when she doesn't know where you are, ya know."
