Lying awake in bed, sleep continued to evade Monty as he lay on his back and stared up at the ceiling. He must've been lying there for at least a couple of hours, tossing and turning and praying that at any moment he'd pass out and escape the nightmare that was his reality. Every time he closed his eyes though, he saw the bodies of those that had died in Mount Weather, died because of a decision he'd made. He hadn't pulled the lever but he'd enabled Bellamy and Clarke to do it and in his mind, he'd killed those people too... He'd enabled it to happen. Usually when he had trouble sleeping, he'd seek out Jasper and the pair of them would sit up for hours talking until one or both of them passed out, but that wasn't an option for him at that moment. Jasper hadn't spoken to him since they'd left Mount Weather, something Monty was almost grateful for, because he was sure that Jasper wouldn't have a kind word to say about him right now- but Monty missed his brother and the radio silence was killing him almost as quickly as the sleep deprivation.
Letting out a frustrated sigh, Monty slipped out of bed, giving up on trying to find sleep on his own. Maybe if he walked down to medical, they'd give him something to help him sleep, he wasn't holding out hope for it, but maybe the walk would be enough to help him sleep anyway. Shrugging on a jacket to protect himself from the cold, he headed for the door- sure that he wouldn't come across anyone, no one else seemed stupid enough to be up at such a late hour unless you counted the guards- Monty didn't. Quietly, he slipped from his room and turned to hurry in the direction of medical, but before he'd gone more than a couple of paces he unexpectedly collided with another body. Grunting in surprise, he opened his mouth to utter an apology but before the words could leave his mouth, his eyes focussed on who he'd collided with and all that left him was a sigh of disbelief. "We've got to stop meeting like this" he told Baron, almost managing a smile. He took a step backwards to distance himself from the man "can't sleep either?" he asked him, wondering why anyone would be up so late by choice. Baron Tseng

The events of Mount Weather had weighed heavily on them all. Some more than others. It was truly a tragedy what happened. Dire circumstances forcing people to do what otherwise may be considered unimaginable. But Earth seemed to be all about survival. And not only that . . . but the survival of your people. An entire civilization had ended to ensure the survival of their people. It was a chilling thought; to see how they all placed value of human life. The grounders. The Mountain Men. The Arkers.
With the physical and emotional healing that everyone was undergoing, Baron offered whatever support he could. Giving aid to those traumatized, lending assistance to whatever tasks were required. Perhaps the most difficult coping period was night time. When all were asleep. When Arkadia was silenced. When they were forced to be left with their thoughts. Baron had made his rounds to those in medical to help them sleep; to help relax their minds enough to find the peace of slumber. But instead of returning to his assigned room, there was one individual that he wished to check on. For he was one of the people who was forced to make a decision no one should ever have to make.
Lost in his thoughts, Baron collided into someone who rounded the corner, and he couldn't help but smile with amusement when he saw who it was. The very man he sought out to see . . . and one who also acknowledged the pattern of their meetings. "Whether we're in the sky or on the ground, you and I seem to be on a perpetual collision course," he teased. Though Baron was truly grateful for it. "But don't worry. I won't ask for your ID this time," he further playfully remarked. "No," he then answered regarding the lack of sleep. He knew he didnt need to ask Monty the redundant question. "Care for some company?" He asked, not wanting to force his presence on the other. "I certainly wouldn't mind some," Baron offered, just in case Monty didnt want to admit that he himself could use the company. So Baron turned it around to make it sound like Monty would be helping him by being in each others presence.

"If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were doing it on purpose" Monty teased, completely disregarding the fact that at least one of their collisions had been entirely his fault. Still, seeing a friendly face was a relief, a pleasant change from what he had been receiving from Jasper in recent days. This time their meeting wasn't plagued with the worry that he was about to be charged with a crime, unless wandering the halls was illegal now, maybe he ought to get a copy of the rulebook, just to make sure. "Good, because I seem to have misplaced it" he replied to Baron's playful comment about his ID, that thing had been lost long ago- taken from him once he'd been locked up in the skybox, he didn't need it when he was expected to be floated as soon as he turned eighteen. Monty didn't realise how much he'd missed having such a casual conversation with someone until he realised the grin he had on his face, which disappeared the moment he realised it was there.
When Baron asked him if he wanted some company, Monty hesitated to accept- because although he didn't want to be alone to possibly lie awake for several more hours alone, he didn't want anyone to think that he was lonely. However, he relaxed a little when Baron followed up by stating that he could use some company "well, I guess..." he muttered hesitantly "I wouldn't mind some company" but only because Baron wanted some, it would be rude of him to deny the man when he'd only ever helped him. He would only spend a few more hours lying in bed awake if he refused him anyway and he'd do anything to avoid that. A lot had happened since they'd last spoke, at least they wouldn't be short of materiel to talk abut. Baron Tseng

Baron smiled at Monty's tease, glad that the man felt at ease enough to make a jesting remark. "You give me too much credit for creative ways to meet someone," he teased in return. Certainly would be one interesting way to be in the company of another. "Lucky for you, I still remember your name from the first time we met." Baron had strove to learn as many of the delinquents names as he could.
He was after all the communications liaison, so when they finally made contact with the Ark, he was helping organize the parents and delinquents communications. Baron then gave a nod of acknowledgement when Monty accepted the offer of his company. "Where were you heading to before we bumped into each other?" Baron asked curiously. "I wouldn't want to stray you too far from your course." The words able to take so many more meanings . . . but in this case, he just meant it in regards to where his destination was at this late hour.

"Yeah, no... Meeting you wasn't something I forgot in a hurry" considering he'd almost been arrested the first time he'd bumped into Baron the first time. Still, apparently the close call hadn't been enough to deter him from breaking the law again and landing him in the skybox. "Oh yeah, the day I met you, I was totally stealing... I lied, I'm sorry" he admitted, even though he was fairly sure that Baron could've worked that one out for himself after he'd been arrested. Monty didn't have a great track record for making good decisions, continuing to steal after almost being caught was a great example of that. There were a number of others, some fresh wounds that were best left untouched at that moment.
"I was actually on my way to medical" Monty said, gesturing in the direction that he'd been heading and started a slow walk in that direction. "I was hoping they'd have something to help me sleep" because there was nothing worse than lying awake at night, alone with your thoughts after everything that had happened in recent days. He'd rather just sleep. "Where were you going? It's pretty late for a walk" he asked in curiosity, but then if sleep was hard to find there wasn't a ton else you could do but walk in an effort to find it.

"That's probably not a compliment," Baron said jokingly, though there was some truth to it as well. Monty remebering meeting Baron probably had more to do with him nearly getting caught that Baron leaving any sort of impression on the young man. Which brought them to the next point of Monty admitting he had stolen something and lied. Baron gave a bit of a smirk. "I never quite knew what you were up to that day," he admitted in return. And fearing the answer, Baron had not opened an official investigation after the incident. He had just let it go. "I would have thought your close call would make you rethink breaking the law again," he said with a clear tease in his voice. He still recalled that disappointment he felt upon discovering that Monty Green had gotten arrested. He looked at Monty once more when he revealed that he was going to medical and the reason for it. "I dont think they will," Baron told him. "We have limited resources, especially medicine." And with the ceasefire, it wasnt as if they could go far. "But more than that, you shouldnt use it," he added. "Have you tried meditation?" Relaxing the body and mind as it had helped Baron many a times to escape a present situation or hardship. "I just came from medical," he began to answer, giving Montys question a truthful response. "And was going to check on you next." He figured Monty would know why. Monty Green

Monty smiled unable to stop himself "I mean, you let me go and bought me a few months" he said, it had bought him a few more months of freedom, a few more months with his family "that makes you good with me" he would have had longer if he'd learnt from his past mistakes and been more careful- or stopped stealing in the first place. "Yeah well, I was never the best at making smart choices" that much was obvious when he'd prioritised getting high with his friends over his freedom when he knew that his actions could get him locked up. "We all make mistakes, mine was getting caught" he joked, trying to make light of the situation, because sometimes that's all that could be done, they couldn't change what had already been done.
He paused when Baron told him that he probably wouldn't find what he was looking for if he made the walk to medical and he felt as though a weight had been placed on his chest, trapping him there. The idea of spending a few more hours lying in bed unable to sleep was nightmarish. "Meditation?" he asked, brow furrowing in confusion, he'd never meditated in his life- the idea of doing so had never entered his mind. "Does that even work?" he'd never known anyone who'd actually meditated before "the meds definitely sound more appealing right now" but apparently being medicated wasn't an option these days, so he'd have to be open to other options, unless he wanted to deal with sleep deprivation. "Well it's a good thing you found me, saved me a wasted journey" he was glad for the company, if he was honest with himself but bringing himself to admit that was another struggle altogether.
