It might not be in his eyes, but in hers and at the end of the day, Larkin was the one who would have to live with her decisions. She wanted to be able to not regret anything. Returning to Arkadia would be something she would regret. She had committed herself to the people here, would commit herself to Bellamy in a heartbeat – more than she already had as a partner in leading this people. She heard their puppies busy rustling, sounded like at least one of them tried to get onto the bed. It made her smile softly, which was only enhanced when she felt the damp cloth bringing some cool relief to her soon overheated body. Who knew that something so simple could feel so good?
“It’s okay. You do what you can.” And he couldn’t magic her better, but that alone, putting the cloth against her skin felt so good to her. It was a gentle and small gesture, which told so much about Bellamy. He cared. He wanted people to be okay, but even with limited power in this, he had an idea how to do that. He was just a wonderful friend. And if there was a chance to get the grounder healer here and help them, he would make it happen. If he didn’t catch it himself. She hoped he wouldn’t. But he worried and she knew she had to take his mind off, at least a bit. “How… How did you know of the sickness, Bell? When did you experience it?”

“And they send the chief engineer for that?” Larkin asked, curious, surprised, too. Were they worried? Did they think someone could perhaps have classified or treasonous information? Well that was as close to the truth as it would get actually. One of them had more information than they should perhaps have. But for now they shouldn’t know that. She didn’t want to hurt people around her and if it came out, she would. She would hurt those who gave her the Intel, her father, her mother, the little boy that hung about her family. She would protect it. It wasn’t like she intended to use the information in a certain way. She just wanted to learn. And that was a mistake on the ark.
“Larkin. Larkin Jones. You don’t listen to the radio often, do you?” She asked him with a chuckle. Otherwise he might had a semblance of an idea of who she was, as she was currently, at the moment, the only female on the shows. It wouldn’t be forever, naturally, but for the short amount of time, she was that and she enjoyed it. It gave her a bit of power. “You’re in advantage now, you know my name, how about yours?” She asked him. “Need to know who you’re gonna call when the Ghostbusters don’t apply.”

Bellamy. Now that was a sight she was relieved to see. What followed wasn't exactly what she imagined. He picked her up as if she weighed nothing. It didn't help her dizziness. Her hand reached for his shirt, moving herself so she could lay her head against him, finding some form of support there. His perfect warmth allowed her to close her eyes, knowing she was safe, feeling safe. She was home. Larkin was home now. Whatever happened, they would at least try to help her without trapping her somewhere where she felt bad about the way this place was being led.
But she barely paid attention to anything that happened after. Not until he spoke to her. That was when she opened her eyes again, leaving the momentary illusion of being well and not having had people try to trick her into changing her loyalties. It would not happen. She would not betray her freinds at Olympia. "Loud and clear." Larkin whispered to Bellamy. Maybe he expected her to be less aware of where she was, but then she might have not even found back. She was back and she was not about to let the sickness take her wits away from her yet. It might, if it went there. But she was sill in the here and now, still fighting to stay exactly there. "They will help the girls. But the girls won't come back." She told him. "They would only help if they rejoined Arkadia. I couldn't do it. I couldn't betray you, Bell. I mean we got puppies to raise and kids to ... keep in line"

Larkin knew he cared. He wanted those around him safe and this, this was not one sided. They wanted him safe, he wanted them safe. He would have come for them, too. Hell, he would have come for them alone had it come down to it, she knew as much. If there was a way to safe someone, to not take a life, he'd take it. She would do the same, learning from him step by step.
"As far as Arkadia is concerned I never left." She smirked. It was not foolproof, naturally. Things could always go wrong. But she'd wing it. She had to. Sometimes spontaneous ideas were not a bad thing at all. "My family claims I am sick. They are in on this." They would refuse treatment. If it came to it, they would claim it was a bad migraine. They had to take that explanation. "And you have friends, Bellamy. A certain friend of yours has a way into Arkadia and out, without officials knowing." Again, it was risky, but it was a way. They didn't intend of using it in vain. "Those two will give each other alibis that they will just have to accpet as they are way too personal to look into." Part of her was convinced that was not even too far from the truth, but more wishful thinking. She kept on wanting to just tell the boys to just kiss already. But she guessed they would have to figure out that dimension of relationships still. She wasn't about to rush it.
"Once we know if the air is clear, I'll go back and you can hopefully come home. A lot of people will agree to it." It was just certain politicians who disagreed with Bellamy. But people, like their parents, had trusted Pike and Bellamy. They had voted for Pike. They would vote for Bellamy.

It had to be unintentional. Maybe the village had been abandoned because of that sickness then. Larkin didn't want to believe that the grounders that they traded with, that had not given them as Olympia reason to distrust them, had betrayed them. For what? Olympia gave them a fair share in their trades. Olympia didn't attack anyone. No, it had to be unintentional. If not they had to think of something that could make it clear that Olympia would not stand for this, for... was int biological warfare? A betrayal at best.
It felt like the air grew thinner around her and the smell changed, too. It smelled a bit like metal and that was weird to her as nothing changed and she was rather sure that Bellamy did not bathe in metal to smell like it - nor cuddle with it, he had way better cuddle companions for that. She agreed that the girls had to try to go to Arkadia. They had to try to get help. But what if they couldn't? Larkin agreed. They had to try. As much as she hated to admit it. he was right. And she could at least try and talk to those people.
"Okay. I'll go with them." She wanted to put his mind at ease with this too. He had a society to run. Sickness was a danger to it, but if he knew they were trying something to help the people. Given that she was clearly exposed, she only reached out for Bellamys hand to squeeze it gently, before turning with the girls, going the way towards Arkadia, hoping they would make it all the way there. She stopped just before they were out of sight. "Give Hades and Zeus a hug from me, would you?" She asked him, knowing that was a question that wouldn't even have to be asked.
Arkadia was a bigger disappointment than she expected them to be. It wasn't because they refused to help. It was because they helped. Under one condition: Rejoin Arkadia. Begrudgingly the girls agreed, but Larkin coudln't. She could not rejoin a corrupt society. It grew from bad to worse for her on the way back. What felt like being lightheaded changed to dizziness. The smell of metal turned into a nosebleed and coughs, producing blood as well. Every step became a struggle, but she pushed. Pushed until the gate of Olympia opened. Larkin never even heard herself speak to the people guarding the gate. Maybe they just let her in like that. She leaned against the gate once it was closed behind her and let herself sink down, allowing her bodies new weakness to take over.

She bought his fine, like she bought that he was unharmed or that this new Grounder leader did anything without their own motivation: Not at all. She let it go for now. She needed to get the answer out of him eventually, but there was no way to do so on the road. The road was a risky place. She could make a plan to get it out of him once at the dropship. The dark haired woman smiled at her commanding officer - because she thought she would listen to his commands over the orders of others. he was her direct superior at the moment, even though that seemed to change. Arkadia let him dow. They would let others down too.
"That's where were already going." Larking replied with a little smirk, happy with herself and the boys that they thought of that without Bellamy before and with having him confirm that that was a good idea. So the dropship was their best option to keep him safe. He could lock it up, as far as she knew.
"The boys will go back." But she would not. Not now. "I will stay with you. If there is a way back, I will have no problem getting back. I will be covered." She had her few friends, her remaining family. They would cover for her, claim she was sick if anyone asked, but who the hell would ask where she was? Nobody. She was just a cadet at the moment, expendable. And the boys would be their eyes and ears until Bellamy could go home. "We have a plan, Bellamy. We didn't just go out and decide to get you. We made a plan that stretched beyond getting you. You taught us that." It was a valuable lesson. It was not about getting in and getting to a prisoner. THe best plan to get in was useless if you couldn't get out after all.

Her heart jumped of relief as she saw him approach, it however almost stopped as he said he saw it before. She had heard his tone before and that one meant no good news. Larkin tried to see in his face what he meant, how bad it was, but nothing showed her it was a good thing. It seemed pretty bad, bad enough to want to get the girls to Arkadia. They weren't exactly allies. What if they didn't want to help them? What if they refused to help them because Olympia had refused to rejoin Arkadia as a colony. They were their own society now and had to remain that, because this was good for their citizens. Now it seemed like a major problem had hit them.
"Not long ago." Larkin replied. "They suddenly coughed blood. Said they were feeling funny." That was more than feeling funny. Larkin didn't know if it was fear or worry, but she herself started to feel slightly lightheaded. She hoped it was just the worry. But what if it was contagious? What if she caught it. "Bell, what is this? Where did you see it?" It was nothing on the Ark, because working on the radio she would have heard of it, yet she hadn't. Had the government kept that a secret from their people? That would have been truly despicable. "How dangerous is this? What if Arkadia refuses to help us?"

Larkin shook her head ever so slightly. She didn't want it to get easier. That would be horrible. Sometimes she thought that for the chancelor and his people it seemed to have gotten easy, every day work to float people back on the Ark. Maybe it was. But didn't that show how wrong they were? How much they went in the wrong direction? Killing was easy to them, but shouldn't every life matter? Up in space, shouldn't have every life mattered and be worth protecting. They had thought they had to repopulate earth. If anything, shouldn't genetics have dictated who survived and who didn't? Not just a simple step out of the line?
"It never got easy for you, did it?" She asked him, suspecting the answer already. How would it get easier? He might have taken many lives, but she had seen him, had seen his style, how worried he was about his cadets, about his friends. He took lives so others could live, but that didn't mean he liked it. Sometimes surviving meant killing and she had killed. She had to, otherwise she had died, her friends would have died. There was no other way.
"How are you feeling?" She asked him. "How badly are you hurt? What... did they do to you?" What did they plan? because they must have had a plan. And she needed to know how to exactly help him. She knew one or two ways to wrap injuries, knew to clean them and that was it, but that was all she could.

Larkin was still rubbing her hair with the towel as she made her way back to Olympias gates with some girls. They had just taken a bath. One of the girls had just come back from a joined mission with grounders, helping to clear out an abandoned village. Some of the things had gone to Olympia, some had gone with the Grounders. It was actually pretty fair in her opinion, which she loved. They helped and got their share of things. It had taken Bellamy and even her countless meetings to get there. And somehow she was giddy to see Bellamy again. He was surely still working, like he always did, or almost always. He deserved a break and she meant to make him take a break.
But the way to Olympia changed that, sadly. The girl that had been out got a nosebleed. Larkin and another girl stopped. She tried to keep the girl calm, but she got more and more upset. It led to her coughing, coughing blood all over Larkin. For once she was out of ideas, out of options on what to do. Panicked she called to one of the girls to "Get Bellamy". She needed him to be here. This was something she could not handle alone. She held the girl, wiped the blood away, but Larkin was way over her head and slightly panicking the more the blood colored here. Just asshe thought it couldn't get any worse the other girl started to cough up blood.

In all honesty, Larkin wasn't thrilled to hear that someone from Arkadia came to see Bellamy. It sounded so ominous and weird. Who came to see him, why did they not have their name announced? Was it his sister Octavia? Maybe she had come to her senses and now rightfully feared her brother might be mad? It was hope on her part, because she, like many others, could see that he cared about his sister, but what had been done was harsh and he was rightfully upset about it. Larkin felt that the more he let it stir in him, the more it hurt him, seeing it from the distance was better in terms of understanding, but the pain remained, which was one of the reasons, why people tried to distract him. And he had his work to distract him.
Larkin followed him to the gate, wanting to be a support if he needed. She could always leave again. But right now he might just need someone there. The moment she saw the person from Arkadia, she knew she had to stay. Blonde, blue eyes, soft and caring to Bellamy. That HAD to be this Clarke. She knew it before he said her name. And she knew it was bad news. She as sickeningly sweet. Given that it was no secret where Bellamy was, it made her pause. She could have seen him whenever she wanted, but Larkin didn't say anything. She would chime in, if Bellamy threatened to fall for her charms and manipulation.
"It's nice to meet you, Clarke. Welcome to Olympia. What can we do for you?"

The best about spring was, that the sun was setting early, painting Olympia in a wonderful warm light. Many of their people - which wasn't many yet, but a steadily growing number of people sick of Arkadias politics - brought blankets and food out to the campfire they had in the center of Olympia, the center of their newborn society. One of the first things they did, was fix the dropship. That held everything so far important to their society and it could still hold all of them, in case of a crisis. Larkin loved this time of day. The building was done for the day. The ambassadors of the clans, if some where there, were usually gone or retired to their tent outside Olympias walls, leaving them in their new society alone to enjoy their precious free time.
At this time Larkin usually sat with her friends, more often than not Bellamy these days. It had become a habit for them to consult each other, their different backgrounds allowing them to give each other other and valuable perspectives on things. She appreciated it so much, the feeling of this place being stable and perfect for all of them. And in all honesty, the friendship she had felt for Bellamy had grown so much over time, so much that a simple 'well done' from him could make her blush now, not to mention touches and Bellamy was man who was unafraid of affectionate touches.
Larkin sat down next to the locked man, handing him a bowl of the freshly made soup. He had worked all day, he must be exhausted she thought and so she made a mental note to make sure he wouldn't miss anything that night. "How's the cabins coming along?" Larkin asked him. "Did you even have lunch?" She hoped he did, because if not, well he better run. They had plenty of food at the moment, enough to feed everyone and enough water. They even had the luxury of having fruit to add taste to the water and tea.
Just as she had been about to take a spoon and start eating, one of the boys guarding the gate came over. "There is someone here for you, Bellamy. From Arkadia."

It seemed like kind gestures ran both ways with Bellamy. For a second she just leaned into his touch, feeling like it was not as bad as she might have thought. But she knew this wasn't over. The feelings weren't even there full force yet. She wasn't able to comprehend yet. It would take a while for her to really wrap her head around the gravity of it. But he was right. She had to do it. To defend herself, to defend her friends. It was them or the grounders and well, she had to choose them. They were her friends. She'd do anything for those she cared about. And it was heard that Bellamy was the same way. Which was one of the reasons she wanted him out of there and safe.
"Lets get out of here." She'd talk to him, she knew she would. Larkin had a plan. She had to have a plan after all. She had to take responsibility here because the others were still underage, technically and so she was the adult, yet they were daring. And helping. The rover wasn't far. And it had just enough energy left to go to a certain place. She let one of the boys drive, so she could go to the back with Bellamy. She sat him down, careful so he wouldn't lose his balance in all of this.
The brunette sat down opposite of him. She would have to clean the wound once they were there. It was just as they sat, that she opened her mouth to speak. "It was actually the first two kills." She cleared now. She had to tell him the truth. "The first was.... holding me. I tried to get free and ... forgot I was holding a knife." That was fatal so quickly. The other one could be called cold blooded. It had to be done. "The other had Joshy, knife to his throat... shot him in the head. I know had I not done that.... we would have been dead, but... it's still killing someone. It's not meant to be easy. You know that, right? I doubt it's easy for you."

In all honesty - he looked terrible. He looked like he had been through hell, but hell was a place on this earth now, it was this earth now. The apocalypse changed a lot of things. Among them faith. It was hard to keep the faith in something above and beneath when you were living above, craving the ground. It was hard to believe in a greater good when life was about survival and survival wasn't easy in this world. Yet there was good in this world. There was something worth fighting for and Bellamy was worth fighting for. He had been a voice of reason for their people, a protector, a fighter. Larkin... couldn't even imagine going through half of what he had gone through. She had a tiny sip of it now and hated it, but she knew, she knew from being around him, that what he truly craved, was something they both craved: Peace. And so the dark haired young woman reached out to place her hand on his cheek for a moment, not even thinking about this simple gesture of comfort after such a long imprisonment. She'd give him more, once he was safe. She'd do anything to make him feel safe where they would bring him.
Larking reached into the jacket she was wearing. It was his. She had picked it up on the way in. She had picked it up to put something out of her sight, out of her mind for now. Clenching her jaw for a moment at his question, she wondered for a moment if it was such a good idea. Then she pulled out a knife. He had to be able to defend himself. If he wanted that security, he needed to have it.
"The way should be clear." She said regardless. "We cleared it. We need to move fast, though. Before the rest of the village catches wind of the guards missing." The guards being dead technically. She nodded towards the exit and turned to leave, knowing the boys had Bellamy.
As she walked, she stepped over bodies, two of which she caused. Their blood pooled on the floor. They didn't smell yet, but she still had to stop after stepping over the second, shaking even more, feeling like her stomach turned and cramped. After a whimper, she leaned over, throwing up. It almost hurt as she had not eaten much and mostly acid came up, but she had to pull herself together. Straightening again, she wiped her mouth with her hand. Now even her voice was shaking a little. "Sorry, let's go. We've no... no time to waste. Those wounds need dressing, too."

Larkin was chewing on a root frech from farm station. It was cheap as it was mostly pointless, apart from the berries. They had few, but the roots were good for the lower stations on the ark, sadly, while the medicine was limited to go sci, naturally. She did like the tasteless root, though. With a few leaves they were pretty awesome. An engineer was here. She usually hung around during maintenance for a simple reason: She had files on her private tablet that she shouldn't have. It was favors from friends, favors to help her get what she wanted, what they wanted, too. A lot of people wanted someone unprivileged be on the council, but it was a lot of work. Not many were willing to do so. Still chewing, she leaned back in her chair, throwing a leg onto a table, accidentally knocking over a microphone.
"You know, I think it would be more fun if you got to come in during the show." Larkin said, watching him closely. "You're high ranking, aren't you? In your business." he actually knew as much. Go-Sci got fixed by the big shots, not just some janitor. "We can be quite funny sometimes. Even a doctor said that we're fun. What is it you're doing anyway. I mean that thing only needs to play century old music, how had can that be?"

She was shaking as the other cadet - 17, male, stupidly strong - kicked in the door to finally reveal what they have been looking for. They have went against all orders of a superior, but Larkin was running a strong argument: Loyalty. Bellamy would do the same for them and the others easily agreed. They had seen what Bellamy had done. They knew he would protect them. They knew he would come to them, too. He would save them, if they needed saving.
"Remove the chains!" Larkin ordered. For some reason the others listened. Maybe it was because she was the oldest. Maybe her former job had given her authority. Maybe she had this sort of authority naturally, she didn't know. She didn't care. They just wanted to save their commanding officer Bellamy Blake. Larkin made her way over to him. Placing a shaking hand on his cheek, she looked into his eyes.
"We'll get you out of here, Sir." Sir was in respect to the others being around. Off duty first names were okay, but not right now. "Help him balance." She told the others, guessing with wounds it wouldn't be that easy. They had to look out for him.
