She was shaking as the other cadet - 17, male, stupidly strong - kicked in the door to finally reveal what they have been looking for. They have went against all orders of a superior, but Larkin was running a strong argument: Loyalty. Bellamy would do the same for them and the others easily agreed. They had seen what Bellamy had done. They knew he would protect them. They knew he would come to them, too. He would save them, if they needed saving.
"Remove the chains!" Larkin ordered. For some reason the others listened. Maybe it was because she was the oldest. Maybe her former job had given her authority. Maybe she had this sort of authority naturally, she didn't know. She didn't care. They just wanted to save their commanding officer Bellamy Blake. Larkin made her way over to him. Placing a shaking hand on his cheek, she looked into his eyes.
"We'll get you out of here, Sir." Sir was in respect to the others being around. Off duty first names were okay, but not right now. "Help him balance." She told the others, guessing with wounds it wouldn't be that easy. They had to look out for him.

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Bellamy had tried to keep track of the days. But hope was something that slipped further and further away. He knew that the others were recovering from all that had happened, and supposed he wouldn't blame them for not searching, or ceasing the search. His chance to escape was also quite slim. With all the plans he had formulated in his mind, all the attempts he had made . . . they had been to no avail. So all he could do was wait. Wait until the grounders decided that they no longer needed him; that he wasn't going to offer them any information. Maybe death would be a release from all this pain. Maybe . . . it was the only release that he would be given. In that moment, the door was kicked down and familiar faces came into view.
Bellamy blinked a few times from the light of the other side of the door, even though it was dim it was still more than what he was used to. His eyes went to the one who was spouting out orders. Larkin Jones. He'd seen true potential in her, and she was diligent in her training. Bellamy's eyes looked over the others for a few moments, realization quickly hitting them. They weren't with any other higher ranking officers. They wouldn't send a search party of Cadets. Bellamy felt it safe to assume that this was not an authorize mission . . . but he was hardly one to complain.
When she looked into him, he felt the tremble of her hand, as his gaze returned intently to her own. He had no idea what expression was there. Gratitude foremost. But it was the concern of their well being that he drew strength from. Prisoners weren't given much food or drink, and the wounds on his body pained him more than he would have liked. But the others were here. For him. And if he didn't make himself useful . . . then something could happen to any of them. And he would never forgive himself if that were the close. His hand moved to rest over her own on his cheek, as if to steady it, before giving a firm nod.
In that moment, the chains were broken free, and Bellamy's face twisted in a bit of a cringe at the sudden release of them, not knowing what it was to be free of the restraints for quite some time -- even since he got here. Another helped him to his feet, moving his arm around his neck to help him move. He hated being this weak but his body was protesting all that he wanted to do. "Larkin," he said in a hoarse voice, deeper than usual from the dryness of it. He turned his head to look at her. "Do you have an extra weapon?" Because like hell he wasn't going to fight off the Grounders and anyone who damn well threatened one of his people. People who had risked everything, their lives to save him.

In all honesty - he looked terrible. He looked like he had been through hell, but hell was a place on this earth now, it was this earth now. The apocalypse changed a lot of things. Among them faith. It was hard to keep the faith in something above and beneath when you were living above, craving the ground. It was hard to believe in a greater good when life was about survival and survival wasn't easy in this world. Yet there was good in this world. There was something worth fighting for and Bellamy was worth fighting for. He had been a voice of reason for their people, a protector, a fighter. Larkin... couldn't even imagine going through half of what he had gone through. She had a tiny sip of it now and hated it, but she knew, she knew from being around him, that what he truly craved, was something they both craved: Peace. And so the dark haired young woman reached out to place her hand on his cheek for a moment, not even thinking about this simple gesture of comfort after such a long imprisonment. She'd give him more, once he was safe. She'd do anything to make him feel safe where they would bring him.
Larking reached into the jacket she was wearing. It was his. She had picked it up on the way in. She had picked it up to put something out of her sight, out of her mind for now. Clenching her jaw for a moment at his question, she wondered for a moment if it was such a good idea. Then she pulled out a knife. He had to be able to defend himself. If he wanted that security, he needed to have it.
"The way should be clear." She said regardless. "We cleared it. We need to move fast, though. Before the rest of the village catches wind of the guards missing." The guards being dead technically. She nodded towards the exit and turned to leave, knowing the boys had Bellamy.
As she walked, she stepped over bodies, two of which she caused. Their blood pooled on the floor. They didn't smell yet, but she still had to stop after stepping over the second, shaking even more, feeling like her stomach turned and cramped. After a whimper, she leaned over, throwing up. It almost hurt as she had not eaten much and mostly acid came up, but she had to pull herself together. Straightening again, she wiped her mouth with her hand. Now even her voice was shaking a little. "Sorry, let's go. We've no... no time to waste. Those wounds need dressing, too."

whatever THE HELL WE WANT It had been some time since Bellamy had felt such a gesture of comfort. Perhaps he didn't deserve it, but he didn't have it within him to reject it. He allowed it to cause a warmth to surge through him, however brief. It was enough to reveal her genuine efforts here today. Her loyalty. He wasn't worth the risk, but she . . . well, she made him feel like he was worth something. It wasn't until she pulled the blade out that he noticed what she was wearing; the jacket that they had taken from him so that it would not provide warmth. But she had it, and wore it and . . . in a way, that meant something to him. He took the knife from her, gripping its hilt in preparation for whatever was to come.
As they moved forward, Larkin stopped, paled and suddenly became sick. Bellamy watched her for a moment, and it didn't take long to piece things together. "First kill?" He both questioned, and stated at the same time. Perhaps it was more of an an acknowledgement, because he knew what that was like. Killing people was never easy . . . and the fact that she had to deal with that trauma now because of him? Well, like hell he was going to let her go through it alone.
But he also knew this wasn't the time or place to get into it. He put a hand on her shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze. "It was kill or be killed. You saved all of us." Because those grounders would have killed them if she hadn't. And while he knew it wasn't enough to ease the pain, he figured a reminder of the stakes and doing what needed to be done, never hurt. "You did what you had to do." Words that he practically lived by. And with that, waited for her to rejoin them before moving on out so that they could get back to somewhere safe.

It seemed like kind gestures ran both ways with Bellamy. For a second she just leaned into his touch, feeling like it was not as bad as she might have thought. But she knew this wasn't over. The feelings weren't even there full force yet. She wasn't able to comprehend yet. It would take a while for her to really wrap her head around the gravity of it. But he was right. She had to do it. To defend herself, to defend her friends. It was them or the grounders and well, she had to choose them. They were her friends. She'd do anything for those she cared about. And it was heard that Bellamy was the same way. Which was one of the reasons she wanted him out of there and safe.
"Lets get out of here." She'd talk to him, she knew she would. Larkin had a plan. She had to have a plan after all. She had to take responsibility here because the others were still underage, technically and so she was the adult, yet they were daring. And helping. The rover wasn't far. And it had just enough energy left to go to a certain place. She let one of the boys drive, so she could go to the back with Bellamy. She sat him down, careful so he wouldn't lose his balance in all of this.
The brunette sat down opposite of him. She would have to clean the wound once they were there. It was just as they sat, that she opened her mouth to speak. "It was actually the first two kills." She cleared now. She had to tell him the truth. "The first was.... holding me. I tried to get free and ... forgot I was holding a knife." That was fatal so quickly. The other one could be called cold blooded. It had to be done. "The other had Joshy, knife to his throat... shot him in the head. I know had I not done that.... we would have been dead, but... it's still killing someone. It's not meant to be easy. You know that, right? I doubt it's easy for you."

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Bellamy felt he could breathe a little easier once they got inside the rover, getting settled and situated while one of the cadets started driving. Bellamy then looked toward Larkin, listening as she began to explain the two kills. She was right. It wasn't easy. It was never easy. Bellamy hadn't even been able to mercy kill Atom. But he had tortured a man, and killed so many. He wished he could spare others fo that burden -- especially knowing that she had done it for him. "You did what you had to do," he stated again, wanting to remind her of that, to have her focus on that. They were at war, so death, killing, it was often inevitable.
Besides, it wasn't as if she had done it as cold blooded murder. She did it to save others, to save him. "I would be more worried if it was easy for you," he continued to say. "The fact that it wasn't, shows your humanity." That she did it, and the effect of it was stil with her. While it was a horrible feeling, it was worse being detached from it. Being emotionless over claiming another life. "It doesn't get easier," he continued. "But the first kill, is always the hardest." And the fact that she had killed two . . . well, he wanted to be there for support as much as he could. After all, it was always easier for Bellamy to focus on that, than himself.

Larkin shook her head ever so slightly. She didn't want it to get easier. That would be horrible. Sometimes she thought that for the chancelor and his people it seemed to have gotten easy, every day work to float people back on the Ark. Maybe it was. But didn't that show how wrong they were? How much they went in the wrong direction? Killing was easy to them, but shouldn't every life matter? Up in space, shouldn't have every life mattered and be worth protecting. They had thought they had to repopulate earth. If anything, shouldn't genetics have dictated who survived and who didn't? Not just a simple step out of the line?
"It never got easy for you, did it?" She asked him, suspecting the answer already. How would it get easier? He might have taken many lives, but she had seen him, had seen his style, how worried he was about his cadets, about his friends. He took lives so others could live, but that didn't mean he liked it. Sometimes surviving meant killing and she had killed. She had to, otherwise she had died, her friends would have died. There was no other way.
"How are you feeling?" She asked him. "How badly are you hurt? What... did they do to you?" What did they plan? because they must have had a plan. And she needed to know how to exactly help him. She knew one or two ways to wrap injuries, knew to clean them and that was it, but that was all she could.

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Her initial question caused Bellamy to slightly clench his jaw, his gaze dropping as she questioned -- or knew -- that it didn't get easier for him. He also knew that he didn't need to answer that. She seemed to know him well enough, and he wasn't even trying to hide it in this moment. He had almost a thousand lives claimed; the lives of nearly a thousand people on his hands. Her next question wasn't easy to answer either.
"I'm fine," he assured her, his eyes going back to her face once more. That had to be the response. Fine. He had to be fine. "What about you, all of you are you ok?" He asked, his eyes looking from her to the others before resting on Larkin once more. He knew they hadn't lost anyone, other they would have loaded up the body. But still. "You all took a hell of a risk," he added on. His way of expressing gratitude, though would thank them properly later.
"Head to the dropship," he instructed in a low voice. It wouldn't be safe to go straight to Arkadia right now. Not with the Grounders after him -- and now them -- and not with his uncertainty of his own people. "And then you all need to go back before they notice you're missing for too long. What did you tell them?" They had a rover, weapons, they must have said something and Bellamy didn't want anything to happen to the Cadets. Especially Larkin who seemed to be heading this mission.

She bought his fine, like she bought that he was unharmed or that this new Grounder leader did anything without their own motivation: Not at all. She let it go for now. She needed to get the answer out of him eventually, but there was no way to do so on the road. The road was a risky place. She could make a plan to get it out of him once at the dropship. The dark haired woman smiled at her commanding officer - because she thought she would listen to his commands over the orders of others. he was her direct superior at the moment, even though that seemed to change. Arkadia let him dow. They would let others down too.
"That's where were already going." Larking replied with a little smirk, happy with herself and the boys that they thought of that without Bellamy before and with having him confirm that that was a good idea. So the dropship was their best option to keep him safe. He could lock it up, as far as she knew.
"The boys will go back." But she would not. Not now. "I will stay with you. If there is a way back, I will have no problem getting back. I will be covered." She had her few friends, her remaining family. They would cover for her, claim she was sick if anyone asked, but who the hell would ask where she was? Nobody. She was just a cadet at the moment, expendable. And the boys would be their eyes and ears until Bellamy could go home. "We have a plan, Bellamy. We didn't just go out and decide to get you. We made a plan that stretched beyond getting you. You taught us that." It was a valuable lesson. It was not about getting in and getting to a prisoner. THe best plan to get in was useless if you couldn't get out after all.

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Bellamy had to admit that he was proud of them to have thought of this all, but knew he couldn't take the credit. They themselves were capable, resourceful. It was within them to execute this kind of plan, just as it was within Larkin to show leadership. He wanted to further protest at her staying with him . . . but he also knew there would be no point to it. She would disagree and he didn't have the strength to argue right now.
"You all took a massive risk coming for me." And saving him, more than what the others had done. "I don't want any of you to out more risk on yourselves." He was looking at Larkin, hoping she understood what he was saying. That remaining with him was dangerous. Kane had lost all trust for him after what happened with Pike. Being associated with him in breaking the law would endanger her. "I have a feeling trying to order you to go back won't work though," he said almost teasingly, but the joviality was missing in his words, due to the circumstances. "So tell me what's your plan for getting back in?" Because maybe that would help assure him that she wouldn't risk herself when returning to Arkadia. At this point . . . Bellamy wasn't even certain that he could go back.

Larkin knew he cared. He wanted those around him safe and this, this was not one sided. They wanted him safe, he wanted them safe. He would have come for them, too. Hell, he would have come for them alone had it come down to it, she knew as much. If there was a way to safe someone, to not take a life, he'd take it. She would do the same, learning from him step by step.
"As far as Arkadia is concerned I never left." She smirked. It was not foolproof, naturally. Things could always go wrong. But she'd wing it. She had to. Sometimes spontaneous ideas were not a bad thing at all. "My family claims I am sick. They are in on this." They would refuse treatment. If it came to it, they would claim it was a bad migraine. They had to take that explanation. "And you have friends, Bellamy. A certain friend of yours has a way into Arkadia and out, without officials knowing." Again, it was risky, but it was a way. They didn't intend of using it in vain. "Those two will give each other alibis that they will just have to accpet as they are way too personal to look into." Part of her was convinced that was not even too far from the truth, but more wishful thinking. She kept on wanting to just tell the boys to just kiss already. But she guessed they would have to figure out that dimension of relationships still. She wasn't about to rush it.
"Once we know if the air is clear, I'll go back and you can hopefully come home. A lot of people will agree to it." It was just certain politicians who disagreed with Bellamy. But people, like their parents, had trusted Pike and Bellamy. They had voted for Pike. They would vote for Bellamy.
