Larkin was chewing on a root frech from farm station. It was cheap as it was mostly pointless, apart from the berries. They had few, but the roots were good for the lower stations on the ark, sadly, while the medicine was limited to go sci, naturally. She did like the tasteless root, though. With a few leaves they were pretty awesome. An engineer was here. She usually hung around during maintenance for a simple reason: She had files on her private tablet that she shouldn't have. It was favors from friends, favors to help her get what she wanted, what they wanted, too. A lot of people wanted someone unprivileged be on the council, but it was a lot of work. Not many were willing to do so. Still chewing, she leaned back in her chair, throwing a leg onto a table, accidentally knocking over a microphone.
"You know, I think it would be more fun if you got to come in during the show." Larkin said, watching him closely. "You're high ranking, aren't you? In your business." he actually knew as much. Go-Sci got fixed by the big shots, not just some janitor. "We can be quite funny sometimes. Even a doctor said that we're fun. What is it you're doing anyway. I mean that thing only needs to play century old music, how had can that be?"

Sinclair had travelled to Go-Sci that morning to carry out some maintenance work, the station was important and so there always seemed to be an engineer around doing some maintenance and making sure that everything still ran smoothly. Of course, his job was to make sure all parts of the station were running smoothly without problem, that included the radio. He hadn't anticipated having an audience while he worked on updating the equipment, but it seemed as though the young woman that was observing him now had other plans.
"I'm a very busy man" Sinclair made the excuse when she suggested that it would be fun if he could come in during the show. He didn't necessarily like it when people watched him work but he didn't dislike it unless the person in question was making it their mission to distract him, if anything he was glad of the company. "I'm the chief engineer, I guess if you need some equipment looked at then I'm your man" he confirmed, looking up from his work to watch her for a second. She seemed to be quite talkative and interested in the work that he was doing and he didn't see any harm in acknowledging her questions "I'm just doing a bit of maintenance, nothing major... Just updating some of the equipment" of course Sinclair could name a rather long list of engineers that ranked lower than him that could easily complete these updates instead of him but he was happy to keep busy anyway.
"I'm sorry... I didn't quite catch your name" he apologised to the woman, prompting her to introduce herself. He assumed she worked on the station somewhere, he didn't know everyone that inhabited the ark and this woman was one of the people that he'd never had the pleasure of meeting, or displeasure... That completely depended on what sort of person she was.

“And they send the chief engineer for that?” Larkin asked, curious, surprised, too. Were they worried? Did they think someone could perhaps have classified or treasonous information? Well that was as close to the truth as it would get actually. One of them had more information than they should perhaps have. But for now they shouldn’t know that. She didn’t want to hurt people around her and if it came out, she would. She would hurt those who gave her the Intel, her father, her mother, the little boy that hung about her family. She would protect it. It wasn’t like she intended to use the information in a certain way. She just wanted to learn. And that was a mistake on the ark.
“Larkin. Larkin Jones. You don’t listen to the radio often, do you?” She asked him with a chuckle. Otherwise he might had a semblance of an idea of who she was, as she was currently, at the moment, the only female on the shows. It wouldn’t be forever, naturally, but for the short amount of time, she was that and she enjoyed it. It gave her a bit of power. “You’re in advantage now, you know my name, how about yours?” She asked him. “Need to know who you’re gonna call when the Ghostbusters don’t apply.”

Sinclair shrugged at her question, registering the surprise in her voice "I guess they want it done right, they trust that I won't mess anything up" some of the younger engineers didn't take their jobs as seriously as he did and it wouldn't be the first time that one of them had screwed something up whilst they were working. Sinclair liked to be in control anyway, he liked to know exactly what was being done and any obstacles that they found whilst trying to fix a piece of equipment. Of course that wasn't to say that he didn't get bored, he had more important things to do than spend his days updating equipment when he had believed that it was be an easy task even for a novice.
"Jacapo Sinclair" he introduced himself after she had done the same and looked up briefly from his work "Like I said, I'm a busy man" most of the time he didn't have time to listen to the radio and he couldn't say that he took a particular interest in it. It did help now that they knew each others names, but that didn't mean that Jacapo had ever heard of the young woman before. "Ghostbusters?" he questioned her, unsure of what she was talking about, he'd never heard of ghostbusters before "should I know what that means?" he couldn't hide the chuckle that made its way into his voice at that moment as he turned back to his work.Larkin Jones

"No way!!" Larkin exclaimed! How was this even possible? How could he not know who or what the Ghostbusters were? It was one of the movies stored on the Arks database, accessible to everyone, she guessed. But it didn't mean everyone watched it. Many on factory didn't, because it felt too much like privilege. In her job Larkin had to watch stuff like that. She had to know what to tell the people, how to advertise public movie showings to the people that might listen. "You have no idea who the Ghostbusters are? Do you live under a rock?" Okay that was maybe inappropriate, but she knew how to play it off. "I mean... technically we live under the same rock, the Ark. But how have you not seen that. It's one of the most hyped movies shown on here." Her colleauges were all over that and certain shows.
"It's literally about people who hunt ghosts. Not that ghosts ca scientifically exist, but it's a movie. It's meant to be fun. And the songs are fun." Larkin pointed out. She started to hum the title melody a little, hoping he might be able to recognize it from that. Maybe he had seen it after all. "You're not one for entertainment, are you? You're in the station and never heard of me. You have no idea what Ghostbusters are."

Jacapo was surprised by Larkin’s reaction to him saying that he’d never heard of the Ghostbusters. He wasn’t aware that it was a big thing on the ark, none of his friends had ever mentioned it to him, but maybe they were too ‘old’ to get it. “If it’s so popular then maybe I should watch it” he didn’t know if the opportunity to watch a movie would present itself any time soon, but if it did then maybe it was worth giving the movie a shot. Maybe he’d heard something about it and it’d just slipped his mind, that was easily done when he had more important things to worry about.“Ghosts?” he questioned, a smile appearing on his face as he fought off a chuckle. He definitely wasn’t one for believing in ghosts, but movies didn’t have to be realistic, they were a form of entertainment after all. Her humming didn’t help to jog his memory at all “No, I don’t think I’ve seen it… I’m not really one for ghost stories” he confirmed, knowing that he probably would’ve remembered it by now if he’d seen a movie and it was as good as Larkin claimed it was. “Just because I’ve never heard of the Ghostbusters before, doesn’t mean I don’t know how to have fun” he chuckled, it wasn’t often that he took a day off and when he did, he usually didn’t waste that time watching movies.Larkin Jones

"And how do you have fun?" She asked him, teasing tone and all. He just didn't seem like the kind of guy to actually go out for fun. More like a settled Dad, kind of guy. There was nothing wrong with that, but his sentence just presented an opening for her to use and tease him about and she would do it mercilessly. Because she simply could. Because there was nothing wrong with it either. She would tease him, but hopefully not get mean. Naturally different people had different limits. Larkins limit was a very specific one.
"I bet I could drink you under the table." Larkin pointed out. While actually, she was rather sure it might be either even or, if he really knew how to have fun in that department, she'd be singing on a table long before he was even tipsy. Oh she just had to find out which of them could hold their drink better. Unless he was the kind of guy to go strictly by the rules and not drinking at all. "We should test my theory."

"I know how to have fun" Sinclair told her defensively without actually answering her question, her idea of fun was probably very different to his and he was completely prepared for her to tease him if he disclosed what his idea of fun was. He found working fun, that wasn't what he did for fun... If it was then all he'd ever do was work, he had a wife who would be less than pleased if he never stopped working, he worked enough as it was. "When I do have time off work I try to spend time with my wife, if she's working then I look for other things to do" there wasn't often a lot of things that he could do, his wife was the one that knew how to have fun or at least make the most of a day off. When Jacapo had a day off he often didn't know what to do with so much free time, the first few hours were great and it was great to have that time to himself but after that things did tend to become boring.
Her words brought a small chuckle from the man "Is that a challenge?" he asked her, raising an eyebrow questioningly as he tried to figure out if she was joking or if she was actually serious about what she had said. He didn't drink often, occasionally he would but he wasn't a heavy drinker, he needed to have a clear head to be able to work effectively and that couldn't be expected of him if he drank often or heavily. If she was serious then he suspected that she'd be able to hold her drink a lot better than he would, after all, she apparently knew how to have fun a lot better than he did. Larkin Jones

He spent time with his wife. That didn’t sound like specific fun to her, but it was fun, she guessed. Everyone had a different perception of it and Lark was in no way different of that. Not many would consider reading up on history fun. She did. So there was that. “That sounds like a very calm and peaceful way to have fun, actually. I’m almost envious. I spent most of my fun hours in here, talking to the Ark – which feels a lot more like talking to myself actually.
“Maybe it is a challenge. Do you accept it?” Why did she even ask him? She knew she couldn’t hold her drink that well. She couldn’t because she had no time to drink anything with her current status. After all she had to entertain and she wanted to learn. She wanted to make a difference. But once in a while she could indulge in this, right? She had to, otherwise she might break down. “Nothing on the line except for figuring it out and a bit of fun. And we promise to stop the other if we go to far?”

Sinclair could acknowledge that he probably wasn’t the funnest person to be around, his idea of fun was probably a lot different from what people usually considered ‘fun’. That didn’t bother him too much though, other people were entitled to spend their free time as they wished just as he was. “Talking to yourself can be fun, can’t it?” he asked her, smiling as he remembered all the times he’d been forced to talk to himself when he was working and lacked better company. Sometimes he talked to himself just because he could, it could be reassuring to hear a voice instead of just silence, even if it was his own.
He considered her words, taking a moment to weigh up the possible pros and cons of accepting the challenge. It could definitely be fun and they were both adults capable of knowing their limits and controlling the situation. Finally he nodded “sure, I’ll accept your challenge” he told her, still a little apprehensive about the agreement. “What could go wrong?” there wasn’t much that could go wrong.. At least he hadn’t been able to think of something that might present a problem to them. They were responsible adults capable of having a drink together, even if they did turn it into a little competition.Larkin Jones
