I can't sacrifice THE FEW TO SAVE THE MANY Random Number Generator Selected . . .
2. My muse is emotionally compromised and breaking down. Gabriel couldn't do this anymore. The first little while it had seemed to be ok, if it meant Josephine would live. If it meant easing the guilt from Russell's conscience. But now, it was going to far. It was going on too far. The others at Sanctum saw them as some sort of divinity. Gabriel couldn't play along. Not any more. There had been too many resurrections. Too many lives sacrificed. Too high a cost. It had to end somewhere, surely and yet . . . here he was. Having witnessed the death of one so that another could live. Josie was the only thing that brought some solace but even that was starting to dwindle the more consumed with the notion of immorality others developed.
He was becoming more vocal in his disagreements about carrying this on, yet the others did not seem to hold any opposition to what they were doing. So it left Gabriel gazing into the mirror, a reminder of one body dying so that another could live. He could only stare at it with self loathing, knowing that he was the reason they had been able to do all this to begin with. It had been done to bring back one person and now . . . it was bringing back their entire colony. His hand trembled with emotion as he could not longer take it. He clenched his hand into a fist and without thinking, punched the mirror, causing it to shatter while throwing what was left of the frame across the room.
His shoulders shook as he fell to his knees, unable to control the tears on his face. He had done this. He had killed other people. He had helped this, idea of one life holding more value than another. When did it end? Would it ever end? He opening of the door did not prompt him to look up. He could feel who it was. How many years now had they been together; far longer than what was natural. "When will it end," he both asked and stated, a tone of resentment, but more so towards himself for he only had himself to blame for this. All of this.

I can't sacrifice THE FEW TO SAVE THE MANY Random Number Generator Selected . . .
3. A scared text Gabriel was glad for the surface of the large table before him that others were sitting at. Russell had called a meeting with a few of the others. Gabriel had come early because Russell wanted to talk to him earlier than this meeting, and it was that very conversation that had his leg slightly bouncing under the table with a frantic energy. Russell had of course moved on from the conversation when the others came into the room, but Gabriel had far from forgotten. Josephine had often proved to be a very good distraction when it came to his work but this time . . . it wasn't in a good, comforting . . . arousing way.
It was more in the oh crap kind of way that Gabriel couldn't even find and tell Josephine about because he was stuck in this damn meeting! Maybe Russell intended it to be like that? Either way, Gabriel couldn't stay quiet for long. Sneakily, he pulled out his device and quickly typed out a message to Josephine. I think your dad knows about us. Gabriel knew it would only be a matter of time until he found out . . . but he had hoped they'd have found a new planet by then, so that there would be places to run.

I can't sacrifice THE FEW TO SAVE THE MANY Gabriel was doing all that he could to stay focused on the work in front of him. But he was fairly certain he had read the same 3 numbers and letters at least 10 times. And when he lost his spot, he'd start over. Reading, but not really absorbing the information. And how could he with her so close to him. He could feel her eyes on him, though he dare not return the gaze. He knew he'd be in trouble if he did. Though, there was something to be said about this . . . comfortable silence they now sat in. Something oddly domestic about it. And it made Gabriel want to look at her even more. Want to talk to her. But, he was settling for just being near her.
When he noticed from his peripheral that she had gotten up to moved, he assumed she was leaving -- most probably bored of watching him work which he of course didn't blame her for. His mind was already thinking of something to say to make her stay . . . further proof that he wasn't paying too good attention to his work. But, she didn't move far. Quite the opposite in fact. She moved closer to him. And closer. And closer. He still fought the urge to look at her; unsure how he had this much self control to behind it. It wasn't until he felt the palm of her hand on his cheek that he had some idea of what was happening.
Her touch was softer than he'd imagined it -- and well, he had indeed imagined it. She turned his head and he made no protest as their lips touched. After all this time of flirtatious remarks and shared space . . . her actions took things to the next level. And damn, was it a glorious one. He instantly closed his eyes, embracing the kiss without any urgency. His lips slightly parted to welcome her, and his body shifted a little to turn more towards her. He slowly eased out of the embrace, not letting it linger too long, though he kept close to her.
He knew that this would be the time for rationality to set in. For him to realize that she was Russell's daughter. That he should be doing his work. But none of that seemed to matter. Not with how she had caused things to stir within him he had not even felt possible. So instead, he leaned forward to close that space distance between them again and kissed her once more, this time, deeper than before.

I can't sacrifice THE FEW TO SAVE THE MANY Gabriel was horribly behind on his work. He had a mountain of paperwork to complete and an abundance of research to compile. He knew there was a reason that he had fallen behind for he'd been fine in the beginning of the launch but . . . one thing had changed. Drastically. And that was his newly formed relationship with Josephine Russell. It wasn't even an unwelcome distraction from his work; quite the opposite in fact. He loved every second he spent with her. And the more time he did, the harder he was falling for her.
But . . . not tonight. He couldn't tonight. Russell was expecting this work to be done and Gabriel wasn't going to sleep until he got a good start on it. Managing to balance the mountain of papers and books with one arm, he used the other to open his door and step inside, kicking the door shut with his foot. He didn't get much further than that as he froze in position as just stared at who was in front of him. Never an unwelcome sight; always a breathtakingly beautiful and alluring one. But . . . not tonight. Surely. "Josephine," he greeted, trying to be as nonchalant -- and a failed attempt at being professional -- as possible while using her full name.

They had done it. After over 2 decades of tests and non stop, gruelling experimenting . . . they had actually done it. Done something that others would deem impossible, yet they had achieved it. Russell was already talking about doing the same for his wife, and all the others that he had killed when under the influence of the toxins . . . but Gabriel had to slow him down. They needed to wait and see, desperately hoping that the aftermath would not have devastating results. The joy felt in bringing Josephine back was overwhelming, and he doubted either he himself or her father would be able to survive losing her twice. All those failed attempts having resulted in excruciating disappointment, but now the light at the end of the tunnel was finally bright and clearly seen. She had returned to them. Getting used to her in this body was not going to be easy . . . but it was most certainly Josephine.
Wanting to check on her, Gabriel was all too eager that he didn't even think to knock, but merely, just opened the door quietly, having assumed she was sleeping. But instead, she was standing in front of the mirror, snapping and his abrupt entrance. "I'm sorry," he apologized, taking in her sight. It was still an odd thing; to know that it was Josephine but that her physical figure was totally different. Unaged, unlike him. "I just wanted to see how you were doing." It was one of the few moments they'd been alone since her ressurrection, Russell wanting to -- understandably -- spend as much time with her as possible. But now since it was just the two of them, unless she turned him away, he hoped this would be their chance to have some time alone.

For Gabriel Santiago, this was a dream come true. All those years of hardwork and his reputation had finally paid off as he was given the opportunity of a lifetime. Field work the likes of so many had never seen, and may never seen. And he was fortunate enough to work with brilliant minds such as Russell Lightbourne, among the other families that were here. Though he was the only one who came without one, solely on his own, with the time they would spend together, the journeys they would embark on . . . everyone was already becoming rather close knit. All intrigued by what they would find; all bringing different areas of expertise. It was truly an incredible opportunity and Gabriel was fully immersed in his work and ensuring he did not disappoint anyone.
Though . . . perhaps fully immersed was a bit inaccurate. During the time they spent in the ship, he had started to form a bond with Russell's daughter, Josephine. She was brilliant in her field, and well . . . an overall incredible person. From what he learned of her anyway, which only made him want to know her more and more. He enjoyed her company, far more than he possible as he hadn't been coming on this mission to meet anyone in an intimate nature. And he knew that perhaps it should stay that way considering she was Russell Lightbourne's daughter. Still; her company was impossible to refuse. No sooner did he think it, that she appeared. Her presence drew a smile from him as he looked at her for a moment before turning his gaze back to his papers. Otherwise, he may be staring at her a little too long, appreciating her beauty a little too intently. "There's some extra dinner on the counter," he offered casually, pretending to read the papers in front of him.
