Cause darling I'm a nightmare dressed like a daydream Your lips, my lips, apocalypse...
The lyrics circled in her brain like a beautiful and haunting memory, the song of their relationship. And yet in spite of all the flirty comments shared between them, neither had made a move for more. Her father had been clear in his warning - give the brilliant geneticist his space. And for the most part she had: after all, a brokenhearted scientist wouldn't be much help when they mapped the stares or explored Alpha planet. But Josephine wouldn't listen forever. Gabriel was like a delicate poison invading every one of her thoughts.
And that was how she found herself in his room once again, sitting on his desk as he worked at it. He was so handsome when he concentrated. His brows would pull together as he worked to solve a particularly hard equation, how he tried so hard to focus when she tried so hard to distract him. Maybe this was what love felt like. Maybe it was lust. Whatever it was Josie knew that she wanted more. She wanted him in every way possible.
Josie moved without saying a word, slipping off the desk until she was standing beside him, so close, silently begging him to look at her. And when he didn't, whether because he just hadn't noticed or was trying hard to not give in, she moved closer again. He was lower than her in his seated position which made it easier to lean down toward him. With her palm against his cheek she turned his face toward her, her lips coming against his in what would be their first kiss.
Maybe she should have said something, asked him. But god all she could think about was his mouth, the taste of his lips, how electric his kiss was.

I can't sacrifice THE FEW TO SAVE THE MANY Gabriel was doing all that he could to stay focused on the work in front of him. But he was fairly certain he had read the same 3 numbers and letters at least 10 times. And when he lost his spot, he'd start over. Reading, but not really absorbing the information. And how could he with her so close to him. He could feel her eyes on him, though he dare not return the gaze. He knew he'd be in trouble if he did. Though, there was something to be said about this . . . comfortable silence they now sat in. Something oddly domestic about it. And it made Gabriel want to look at her even more. Want to talk to her. But, he was settling for just being near her.
When he noticed from his peripheral that she had gotten up to moved, he assumed she was leaving -- most probably bored of watching him work which he of course didn't blame her for. His mind was already thinking of something to say to make her stay . . . further proof that he wasn't paying too good attention to his work. But, she didn't move far. Quite the opposite in fact. She moved closer to him. And closer. And closer. He still fought the urge to look at her; unsure how he had this much self control to behind it. It wasn't until he felt the palm of her hand on his cheek that he had some idea of what was happening.
Her touch was softer than he'd imagined it -- and well, he had indeed imagined it. She turned his head and he made no protest as their lips touched. After all this time of flirtatious remarks and shared space . . . her actions took things to the next level. And damn, was it a glorious one. He instantly closed his eyes, embracing the kiss without any urgency. His lips slightly parted to welcome her, and his body shifted a little to turn more towards her. He slowly eased out of the embrace, not letting it linger too long, though he kept close to her.
He knew that this would be the time for rationality to set in. For him to realize that she was Russell's daughter. That he should be doing his work. But none of that seemed to matter. Not with how she had caused things to stir within him he had not even felt possible. So instead, he leaned forward to close that space distance between them again and kissed her once more, this time, deeper than before.

Cause darling I'm a nightmare dressed like a daydream Josie knew that she was doomed the moment their lips touched: forever would not be long enough with him. The taste of him was addictive, and it invaded her senses when he parted his lips, which she took as an invitation to explore with her tongue. He left her head swimming and her heart racing when he drew away. It was a struggle to open her eyes - she wanted to stay in that moment forever. But when she did, she looked at his mouth first, the feel of which was lingering on her own, and then she looked into his eyes.
Her own eyes were glossy, almost clouded with emotion and desire as she watched him, waiting for him to say something, hoping that this feeling was mutual, and so certain that it was. When he closed the distance between them without a word her heart skipped into overdrive. A moan escaped her as she pushed against him, shifting to straddle him, lost in the moment and moving fast.
The sound of pens and paper and books hitting the ground thudded around them when she knocked them aside. The creak of the chair was audible as it strained beneath their combined weight, but it didn't stop her. Josie wrapped an arm around his shoulders to pull him closer, her hand stroking through his hair as she kissed him deeper, harder, with more passion. Every teasing comment and sidelong glance was in that kiss, every desire and emotion she felt for him wrapped between their lips.
