If you call on me, I'll come running like a coyote. Naoya set the first aid kit down with a cynical look and a roll of the eyes that he knew Baron couldn't see, but he hoped he felt. It was fine, actually. If Baron didn't want to discuss it, Naoya wouldn't push but he definitely wasn't going to dismiss the fact that injuries were indeed present.
Behind him a waitress named Qirong set down a cup of coffee made just the way her boss liked it and dismissed herself. Naoya smiled and pushed it to the side.
"You can have that once you're patched up. May I see your hands?"
Naoya's hands were gentle, soft yet accustomed to work and good at what they were doing. Nao had lots of practice over the years patching up his younger siblings and he treated Baron with the same pressure and consideration.
But it didn't stop him from wondering how such injuries could have occured. Despite being blind, Baron was incredibly strong and confident. Half the time if one didn't know better, they'd believe Baron fully capable of seeing everything. Something out of the ordinary must have happened.
Once the scrapes were cleaned out and the dried blood wiped away, Nao wrapped Baron's palms with gauze and set them back on the table gently, admiring his handiwork.
"Not too bad, if I don't say so myself."
There was an air of playfulness to his tone that he knew Baron would understand.

I was born to love you. There was something in the way his name rolled off the man’s tongue that sent a small shiver down his spine and forced him to concentrate in order to comprehend the rest of his words. Baron Tseng. There was something familiar about the name but Nao didn’t regularly follow foreign affairs and news so the recognition fled as fast as it had come.
Nao opened his mouth to speak but Baron answered his question before he even had a chance to form the words. He smiled at that. He must be pretty predictable if even strangers he’d just met could do it. Or… maybe it was just a standard thing to say after a suspicious daylight attack? He glanced at Baron’s profile as he drove and decided to believe in the first option.
Nao waved away the concern when Baron asked how he was.
“Like I said, it’s nothing! I’m really okay…”
His voice faded into oblivion as he finally took another look at himself and the blood soaked bandage. Maybe it was a little bit worse than he thought. Laying his head back against the headrest he swiveled his neck until he was looking at the man, a small pout present on his lips.
“I may have exaggerated my okay-ness…”

The things we do for love. Nao made an equally teasing face back at the man in return, snarling his lips and sticking out his tongue. “Sorry, Sir, I’ll have to depend on you to find a suitable wardrobe…”
To be honest, he didn’t really know why he was so complacent with whatever Baron asked of him. Perhaps it was because a feeling of benevolence that clung to Baron. For all his teasing, nothing was ever said or done out of malice. It made Nao trust him and even want to do these things for him.
“Good luck finding a pair of heels that fit…”

Better the lessons when the harder you fall. The day Baron first spoke to him, Naoya felt like a deer stuck in the headlights. He hadn't been expecting it, much less the offer that had followed. Sure he'd been to all of Baron's games and constantly watched for him in the halls but Baron was smart and popular and athletic - the complete antithesis of himself. The upperclassman had no reason to notice him at all and yet it seemed as if he had. From his time watching Baron from a distance, Nao knew the boy to be as kind as he was handsome but at the same time he couldn't bring himself to think that all of this was anything else other than a prank.
Nao was definitely gullible enough to be taken advantage of and he wasn't a stranger to being bullied. Baron might never be mean on his own but what if someone had put him up to it? The thoughts still weighed heavy on his mind, even as Baron stood in the entryway with a happy smile and a polite greeting.
"Um... yeah. My parents are watching TV. We can just go upstairs..." It was obvious Nao was trying to rush Baron towards his room. His parents knew a friend was coming over but he didn't want to go through the story about how Baron took pity on his failing grades. Introductions were awkward and he'd never hear the end of it.
Naoya's room was small and well kept. Posters of animals and samurai decorated the walls, a stack of comic books sat in the corner and the only furniture being a plainly made bed and a small desk. "You can sit anywhere you want..." He mumbled, clearly flustered.

I was born to love you. “Ah...”
Naoya replied, obviously satisfied with the answer. He hesitated for just a moment, taking note of the strangers luxury vehicle and internally screamed about how lucky he was to get to ride in it. Who was this guy anyway?
“I’m Shirakawa Naoya. Everyone just calls me Nao,”
He stated while ducking into the car and doing his best to buckle his belt while still keeping pressure on his wound.
“Thank you for treating me kindly.”

The things we do for love. Naoya’s brows knotted themselves as he attempted to take it all in, his expression was of thorough confusion. By this time Naoya had met some of the clan leaders and they knew his face. They already knew he wasn’t a woman at all.
“…But I’m a man….?” He mumbled before it finally dawned on him. He’d admit he felt sheepish and dimwitted for not getting it sooner but that didn’t stop him from stiffening his back and crossing his arms in defiance. Who did Baron think he was? Naoya passing for a woman? Ha! He had extremely manly features and naturally emitted masculinity. At best, he’d look like a drag queen and cause the clan leaders to question Baron’s taste…
But… Baron did say he wanted someone he could trust and that was a very warm feeling when contrasted to the request of what he was going to have to do. Naoya’s quiet defiance was over nearly as quick as it came on and he slumped in his chair.
“Fine…” He began. “…just, don’t regret it.”

The things we do for love. It had been a long day and Naoya ended up stifling a yawn when he heard Baron call his name. His brown eyes didn’t miss the way Baron’s gaze swept around the room nor the way his mouth was pulled tight. Whatever this important task was, it was weighing heavily on Baron’s mind and thusly his own. In the time he’d been in Baron’s employ, he’d become quite close to the man. Protective over him like a brother. And in times of seriousness, Naoya became strong and unwavering, offering himself up as a pillar of support and a vessel of defense.
Sitting across from the man, Naoya cocked his head in inquiry, but that was before his boss inched closer. At first, it was the silence that was deafening, but it quickly was drowned out by the laborious pounding of his own heart echoing between his ears. What was going on here? Why was Baron hesitating? A slew of horrible, tragic and heartbreaking thoughts and scenarios loaded his mind. Whatever terrible thing that might have happened to cause Baron to be so candid in his request?
It felt like forever was passing between them. Baron moved closer… and closer… and Naoya’s breath hitched in his throat, his dark eyes intensely focused on the lips that were hovering excruciatingly close to his own. What was this? Why was this thick grip of nervousness engulfing him? Why was his heart racing, threatening to burst out of his ribcage? Just when Naoya thought he couldn’t take anymore, Baron spoke.
Naoya blinked.
“Ehh?” It was the only intelligent word he could offer at the moment. It had felt like his stomach dropped to the floor. A sensation of disappointment so tangible it almost hurt. But… why? What did he expect was going to happen? A kiss? A kiss…. with Baron. The idea wasn’t repulsive but he still found it incredibly odd that it was there bouncing around in his head. Was this just misplaced interpretation or did he want something to happen? Nao shook the idea from his head, his attentions focusing back on Baron’s request.
It was his turn to take a sweeping look around the room before turning back to the man. “Is…this a prank…?” He half expected Baron’s close friends to pop out of the darkness with roaring laughter, teasing him on his reaction to such an absurd question.

If you call on me, I'll come running like a coyote. The slight creaking noise of the restaurant door as it opened caught his attention. Again. He’d compare himself to a lonely dog waiting for the next person to walk down the street to be his master. Each time, however, he was disappointed, though never discourteous. He’d been scribbling notes when the door creaked open once more, this time it was just the person he’d wanted to see.
“Welcome Mr. Tseng!”
He announced as he strode to the entryway to receive his boss. Despite Baron’s attempts at a coverup, Naoya almost immediately sensed something had happened and upon further inspection noted dirt on the man’s jacket and a mild dishevelment of his hair.
“Sir?”
Nao inquired as he reached for the man’s hand.
To be honest, he didn’t know exactly what to expect. Had someone tried to rob him? Was there a fight? All he really knew was that Baron had pulled back ever so slightly when Naoya reached for him, exposing injuries to the palms of his hands.
“Sir, what happened?”
Nao took his bonded brother by the elbow and lead him to the closest table where he had him sit and wait until he returned with a first aid kit.

I was born to love you. Naoya didn’t quite know what was going on but five against one hardly seemed fair. Five against two still wasn’t ideal, but even before he jumped in there was a surprising presence that seemed to ooze from their target. It was an energy that seemed to pick him up and tell him exactly where to move and while Nao was now sure the man could have easily defended himself, together they had caused a satisfying retreat.
Nao brushed his hair from his eyes, turning with a smile as the man thanked him. There was a hint of an accent and Nao realized the man was foreign, which made the attack on him all the more strange. The group didn’t look like they were there to rob the man but rather beat him to a pulp. Who makes those kind of enemies in a foreign country anyway?
His eyes flicked towards his arm when his wound was pointed out. Interesting. He hadn’t even felt that. He’d been too focused on the thrill of the fight; the opportunity to defend someone.
“It’s nothing…”
He mumbled before the man handed him a cloth for a bandage and offered him a ride. His dark brown eyes widened at first but slowly narrowed into a suspicious slit.
“I accept your gratitude, but there’s no need to thank me like that….”
He stated, obviously thinking the man was inviting him to be repaid with sexual favors.
“Your body is a temple, you should treat it as such!”
Nao gave a hearty nod and friendly smile, not at all concerned with the gash that still seeped blood through the bandage.

You're the best adventure I've had yet. Thunder rumbled across the sky as Naoya lifted his head and sighed. The map on his phone looked nothing like the forested pathways he found himself on. Maybe his parents were right and he was too ambitious to travel and explore on his own. He should have at least brought a friend that could keep him out of trouble or even help him to read Chinese. With the first splatters of raindrops, Naoya hurried down the path he was already following, yet even while lost, it was hard not to marvel at the beauty of the place. His brown eyes drifted to the canopy overhead. Bright green foliage popped out in front of a dark and gloomy sky. It stirred something in his soul. And it distracted him long enough to misstep from the pathway and topple over a small stone lantern someone had erected under the ferns.
His hands had stopped him from eating dirt, but his phone wasn't so lucky and it landed in a grove of bushes a few feet away. At his own feet was the carved roof-like top split neatly into two pieces. His heart sank. Someone had probably put the lantern there in memory of a loved one. What if the spirit of that loved one haunted him? He shuddered before scrambling towards the bushes to find his phone.
The rain was falling heavier by the second and as Naoya's fingertips skimmed across the earth he came across what felt like.... a shoe. He wrapped his hand around it but it wouldn't budge. Actually, it felt like there was a foot still in the shoe... Confused, he looked up again and found a tall man with long hair towering over him. His reaction was delayed, as if it had taken some time for the sight to sink in, but when it did he fell back on his ass onto the muddy ground and clutched at his racing heart.
"Oh shit... You scared me!"
He blurted out, baffled as to where the man had even come from. He'd been alone on these paths for the last three hours. It was when he moved to stand up that he really took notice. The stranger wore traditional clothing but it looked.... ancient. Well kept but very old. His long hair was definitely styled like that of ages old dynasties too. Was he an actor? Maybe there was a film crew nearby shooting scenes from a historical drama? Whatever it was, Naoya gave the man a polite nod of his head.
"I'm just looking for my phone... Have you seen it?"

I Will Learn To Be Peaceful While I Keep My Knife At My Side It had been a clean and clear shot when Naoya crouched low in the scrub. It was cold and puffs of warm breath billowed around his chapped cheeks, but he didn't let that hinder him for In the small clearing in front of him stood a much sought after beast. There was nothing shabby about a fattened five point buck that could feed his family for months and he held his breath as he pulled back an arrow. Naoya licked his lips, lining up his sight and sealing up his excitement.
In the blink of an eye a whirlwind of activity was set in motion. There was a sharp, cracking sound and the animal had snapped it's head upward, large ears pricked forward. Naoya loosed the arrow which whizzed off course and into the low hanging branches at the far side of the clearing, causing his prey to flee back into the thick. It wasn't that it was a bad shot, but it was an interrupted shot. It had happened so quickly, the Trikru warrior had been so close before Naoya was able to dodge that any hesitation would have cost him his life. He'd taken a face first dive into the snow, but was on his feet quickly and giving chase. He couldn't fight up close with a bow and even though he knew the terrain better, he was having a hard time getting enough distance between himself and at least three warriors that had sprung an attack on him.
The cold seemed to slowly pull the air from his lungs and he couldn't help but wonder how his pursuers were coping, especially since Naoya was acclimated to it and they were not. A short distance ahead, Naoya knew of a cave. The only way out was also the only way in, but he figured he'd sport a more fair chance on dry ground. Other hunters were also known to leave supplies there as well... maybe he'd get lucky and find a knife...

I Will Learn To Be Peaceful While I Keep My Knife At My Side Naoya straightened the collar on his shirt. He'd never get used to these button downs that made him feel claustrophobic and stuffy, but this was a part of the job so he'd have to get over it. It'd been a couple months but he'd finally been rewarded with Baron's trust in the form of a close and sought after position. He could now formally call himself Baron's assistant which meant that his access into the man's life had opened wide and Nao was sure to find favor with his Leader. Naoya had been lying to this man for the entire time they'd known each other, but the anxiety of starting a new job was honest and he pushed forward a small smile.
"Please guide me," He murmured with a small bow, taking his first steps into a whole new playing field.

.:Physical Appearance:. Slightly shorter than average, Naoya sports a lean and slender body that looks weaker than he truly is. Atypical of normal Azgeda warriors, Naoya's face is clear of any scars or markings despite his skills having never been used for espionage. Naoya wears very typical pieced together clothing and makeshift armor as well as a distinctive fur lined coat. .:Height:. Five Foot Six .:Portrayed by:. Haruma Miura
| ~ • ~ | Personality | ~ • ~ |
.:Personality:. Naoya is fiercely protective over the people he loves and considered unwaveringly loyal to his clan. He has a natural, likable warmth but can be cold and calculating when circumstances call for it, preferring to fight up close and intimately with his opponent. Despite his willingness to fight, Nao can also be quite diplomatic and charming with his words. Although he is passionate about his work and duties, he doesn't like to take himself too seriously and is quick with a smile or a joke. .:Special Skills:. Naoya is exceptionally skilled in archery, however he prefers close range combat using two short swords.
| ~ • ~ | History | ~ • ~ |
.:Birthplace:. Azgeda .:Family:. Naoya has both a mother and father as well was a younger brother and younger sister. .:Occupation:. Warrior | Healer .:History:. Naoya endured a typical Azgedan childhood, learning to fight and care for his family. Even as a boy, he was lending what he had learned in archery to bands of raiders, hiding in the trees and picking off the unfortunate the didn't run fast enough. As he grew older, Naoya was needed in other areas, but learning medicine wasn't a choice he made by himself, rather that of his elders for sickness was spreading and even the clan's healers were succumbing to death. Naoya proved to be a quick study and soon the knowledge of both the wounding and healing arts made him vital in battle and well loved in his people's eyes.
