OR He'll say he's just not the same and you'll begin to wonder why you came Nina kept the surprise to herself. She wasn't really sure what she had assumed in terms of Bellamy's answer to her offer. He had been the one to bring up eating, but she had been the one to push it in the direction of her room with the possibility of talking. There were many things he could have said to further delay their conversation. Hell, he could postpone their conversation until the end of time and they would never talk. Talking had never really been their strong suit, at least when it came to feelings. They talked like normal people but Nina had never pushed him to open up about his feelings. She had never been one of those girls to force her boyfriend to tell her what was on his mind and how he felt about absolutely everything. Knowing what she knew now, she guessed that it had probably been the saving grace for their relationship. Maybe she had just been an escape for Bellamy so that he could forget about his sister hiding under the floor and his mother breaking one of the biggest laws the Ark had.
Walking by his side, Nina and Bellamy walked towards their little mess hall they had created. More often than not, people were found drinking at the tables and stools. It wasn't an unwelcome thought, now that Nina was thinking about it. Drinking away her pain and suffering for at least one night was more than appealing. Perhaps that would be her night after she ate and attempted to have a conversation with the man standing next to her. Nina hummed in response to his comment. Food at the drop ship had basically been twigs and berries. They had eaten like the scavengers that they were. Eventually they had created a meat house where they could smoke any hunts they brought back, but it had taken some time to get to that point. Nina was definitely glad to be rid of the wild onions that had been a huge part of their meal plan while at their camp.
Nina walked into the mess hall and went towards the small line of people that had formed near a few tables. On the tables sat various pots filled with food Nina knew not to question. People were serving the food in portions so that they would have enough for everyone. Grabbing her bowl, Nina waited in line and moved along with the people until some food was put into her bowl. It didn't really look appetizing but she knew she couldn't complain. Hopefully it would taste better than it looked. Nina quickly stuck the tip of her pinky into the bowl and put it in her mouth to get a little taste. It wasn't that great but nothing that couldn't be fixed with a little salt. They had no salt on the Ark but a group had found some in one of the many caves. She wasn't sure how they knew the mineral was edible, but it had been a saving grace for a lot of their meals. Nina picked up the spoon in the salt bowl and sprinkled some salt, or more than some, over her food. Once out of the line, Nina waited for Bellamy to finish getting his food. Her eyes wondered over the people sitting down at tables. For the most part, everyone looked happy. They had their kids back from Mount Weather and everyone was safe now. People had injuries but that was nothing compared to the possibility of death that constantly loomed over them.

She knew he would help her. He seemed like a good man even though she didn't know him. But Nina would grow to know him for however long she was with him and in Azgeda. Nina didn't know how long that would be and she felt like even Roan didn't know. But if she wanted this time to be useful and if she wanted it to go smoothly, then she had to have a positive attitude about the whole thing. She had to forget about how much she didn't want to be there. She had to forget about how much she wanted to be with her people back at Camp Jaha.
Nina raised an eyebrow at his comment, a smirk slowly making its way onto her face. "Oh really?" She posed, amusement in her voice. Nina couldn't help the laugh that escaped her lips. "And what kind of girl do you think I am?" She couldn't help but to ask the question. Nina knew that she could be asking for something she didn't want to hear, but she was eager to hear what Roan thought of her.

She listened to him speak and while she considered tuning him out, she figured she had nothing else to do. Nina listened to his rant about her being punished and she had half a mind to agree with him, but she kept her mouth shut. She wasn't being punished for doing something wrong. She was just being given the shit job because she was a new Cadet. Her favorite suggestion had been whether or not she had shocked her boss with the baton she carried. At that, she was unable to suppress a laugh. "Oh I wish," she confessed. It was maybe one of the first times she had really laughed since her mom had been floated. Why hadn't she sought company from Wick before? He had always been able to make her laugh when they hung out in their groups of friends. The two had never hung out one on one but that didn't make much of a difference to her. She still thought he was funny, even if she wanted to keep that opinion to herself.
Wick started working on the problem and Nina looked down at her boots. She had no idea what was wrong or how long it would take to fix it, but she was well aware that Wick could easily fix it. She would never tell him out loud, but he was a great engineer. Nina wouldn't be surprised if he was able to save the Ark from some life threatening issue one day. Hell, for all she knew he could have already done that. She looked up as he spoke and she rolled her eyes, suppressing a smirk at his comment. Since he told her not to, she obviously did. She knew he couldn't see her, but she made a show of tilting her head to the side and staring at his ass. "I dunno man," she spoke. "Not much to stare at." Nina was poking fun at him but knew he would take it in stride. He would likely turn around and throw a far sassier comment at her.

Nina bit her cheek as he slid into her. The sensation was overwhelming and she was enjoying it as much as she possibly could. His fingers dug into the skin on her thigh and it sent a chill up her back, causing her to arch into his touch, pressing her chest against his. It didn't take long for him to adjust and she felt him starting to move within her quickly. Nina had to admit that she was impressed. Jasper was quickly disproving all of her assumptions when it came to virgins. But she was happy that he was doing this, not just for the future but for her current pleasure as well. Nina knew that she would never make an assumption like this again.
She moved her hips up to meet his, doing her best to push him as deep into her as she could. Nina welcomed his lips on her own, one of her hands wrapping around his neck to pull him closer. She let out a breathy laugh at his comment and she continued to meet his thrusts. "I have you to thank for that," Nina whispered in his ear. Her other hand moved to his shoulder and began to dig into his skin. A groan left her lips at the feeling of his teeth biting the skin on her jaw.Every little touch was sending shocks through her body and it was more than amazing.

Is there anybody you would like to get to know better?
Not particularly. People die so quickly down here - I wouldn't want to chance getting close to someone only to lose them just as quickly.

everything will change; nothing stays the same nobody here's perfect, but everyone's to blame Nina wondered if everyone had died since arriving on the ground. No one was the same anymore and while others had changed more than some, the fact still remained the same; everyone was different. Nina took a moment to think about how she had changed. On the Ark she wasn't a loving or affectionate type of person, and that had come with her down here. Perhaps she was a little more guarded and kept her distance from people she once cared about. Nina's friends had died coming down and so had her father. Nina hadn't been too upset about her father since the two had never really had a relationship in the first place, but he had still been her father. But people died so easily down here so she saw almost no point in getting close to them. Nina wasn't sure how much Raven had changed but she knew Finn and Gena's deaths had seriously messed with her mind. So perhaps it was more than just a funk, but Nina wasn't going to let Raven stay like this forever.
"Everyone has changed since coming down here," Nina spoke. Her voice was a little softer but it held no pity for the girl. Nina wasn't even sure if she was capable of pity. "And yeah, you've been through a whole other hell compared to a lot of people. But no matter how much you've changed, I never would have pegged you for someone who just gave up." Maybe Raven was just an empty shell of her former self. But she had been brave enough to sneak out here and want revenge for what happened. That gave Nina a small amount of hope that there was still a piece of Raven inside of her. |

She couldn't help but to chuckle at his comment. His belief that it wasn't so different from what she was currently wearing was amusing. Of course they were different. Her clothes looked nothing like those that the Grounders wore, let alone Ice Nation. But Nina hadn't really thought about winter and its impending arrival. Her people had never been forced to deal with the extreme weather that the grounders did. They had always been accustomed to one temperature up on the Ark. Her people would have a hard time with the cold and Roan was right; this information was vital to their survival. Nina would have to really pay attention during her time with these grounders. This information would have to be relayed to her people and while she still didn't know why she had been picked, it was still her job.
"And you'll help me learn where to find this fur?" Nina asked with a raised brow. A small, amused smile was on her face but she was grateful for any help he gave her. She wondered what else she would learn during her time with Roan and his people. She wondered if she would find it at all interesting or just completely boring. Although, she supposed it didn't really matter. The information was important either way.

What's something from before the radiation and war that you would love to try? Whether it's food or an object doesn't matter.

What do you like about being a member of the Guard?
I think I like the ability to physically express any emotions I have. Not a huge fan of feelings so training usually helps.

What would happen if you tripped and landed on your face when trying to act tough? How would you react? I'd like to think I'm a little more graceful than that, but I would hope I would laugh it off. I guess it depends on who is around me.

Nina rolled her eyes at his comment. "Hardy, har, har," she deadpanned. Under any other circumstance, Nina would have welcomed the snarky comments from him and even returned them. On the rare occasion she had a one-on-one conversation with him, it had always been fun. It had always made her laugh and while right now that's what she needed, it wasn't really working. "I forgot how delightful you were," Nina joked. She followed him out into the hall and thought about the last time she had seen Wick. It had obviously been before her mom had died, but for some reason that was all she could remember. She supposed it didn't really matter. It didn't make much of a difference. She was still here to bring him to the restricted area so he could do whatever it was he needed to do. Nina knew he had been debriefed about what needed to be done and while she would never say it out loud, she knew how smart Wick was.
"Come on. Grab your gear, and we can leave," Nina said. Stuffing her hand in her pocket, she grabbed the key card that would grant them access to whatever he needed to look at. She began to walk down the halls, taking the proper turns that she needed to take. Swiping the key card, Nina finally brought them into the restricted area and looked around. She wasn't sure what needed to be looked at so she leaned up against the wall, arms crossed in front of her.

OR He'll say he's just not the same and you'll begin to wonder why you came Nina felt like curling into a ball and just crying until she couldn't cry anymore. She couldn't imagine how she looked right now, blood on her clothes. The nurses were trying to clean her up and would give her new pants to change into once the doctor finished her ultrasound, but the machine was still working on getting a reading. Lauren looked at Bellamy and nodded, glad to see that he was taking in what she was saying. "I had told her that light training was fine," she said, wanting Bellamy to have all of the facts. "But like I said, after this I don't think she should. This seems to be more about stress than anything physical she could have done. We'll run some blood tests to get a look at her hormone levels, but this could be a subchorionic hemorrhage. Again, I'll know more after I get some tests done but she should still be able to have a normal pregnancy. It is possible though that she is at risk for preterm labor so just be aware of that," Lauren explained.
The doctor ran the device along her stomach and watched the screen for the small flicker. Once she found it, she smiled and told Lauren that the baby was just fine. It didn't even appear to be under any stress from the possible hemorrhage Nina had just experienced. Nina was far too lost in her own thoughts to hear that everything was fine. She was too busy berating herself for everything. It wasn't until Bellamy squeezed her hand that she was slightly pulled from her haze. Nina looked over at Lauren, her face still blank but Lauren smiled at her and told her the baby was just fine. More words followed her sentence but Nina couldn't seem to understand them. Her baby was fine? How was that possible? She had been certain that she had killed her. "What?" Nina asked, her voice a little hoarse. "I just said that yes, we would like you to stay over night just to make sure everything is okay. Bellamy is obviously more than welcome to stay with you too." Nina felt . . . well, she didn't know how to feel right now.
Nina didn't even feel the needle pierce her skin so the nurse could take some of her blood to run tests on. All she felt was relief for her baby not being dead and guilt for putting her in this position in the first place. "Nina?" A voice made her look back at Lauren. "I know it's hard, but I really need you to try to avoid stress, okay?" Lauren said, needing to make sure Nina understood that it was the stress that had caused this to happen. "She's fine?" She asked, still unable to wrap her head around it. Nina didn't even note that it was the first time she had referred to her baby as a girl out loud. She had always called it and 'it'. But after this, Nina felt different. She felt attached to this baby growing inside of her. |

OR He'll say he's just not the same and you'll begin to wonder why you came Her body did whatever he had instructed it to and she felt him leave her side. Part of her didn't expect him to come back. She wouldn't have. Nina knew how important this baby had been to him and she had completely disregarded the life inside of her. But she hadn't done any real training earlier. They had been small sparring sessions; nothing to worry about. But obviously something had happened in order for this to happen. Nina had done something wrong. Nina felt herself being lifted into Bellamy's arms and she held onto the small amount of comfort she allowed herself to have. She had always felt safe in his arms and even though she didn't deserve it right now, she had to focus on it. If she didn't, then she would just think about what she had done.
Nina was laid down on a bed and she felt Bellamy's warmth leave her. Her eyes remained opened but she rarely blinked and she was just staring at the blank spot in front of her face. She felt a flashlight being moved in front of her eyes but she didn't follow the light. She heard people talking around her but she didn't pay them any attention. One of the doctors had sent Lauren to fetch the machine so they could check on the baby but Nina knew it was pointless. Why bother when she knew the baby was gone?
"A little bleeding is normal, especially during the first trimester," Lauren explained when she returned with the machine. One of the other doctors took over so they could check Nina's stomach. "However, this is a little more blood than I would like to see. But it looks worse than it is." Lauren glanced down at Nina but knew she wasn't listening. Bellamy was right; she was in shock. "Was she complaining about cramps earlier at all? Was she hurt or did she fall?" Lauren was trying to rule out a miscarriage. The blood on Nina looked worse than it was, but she didn't know what the bathroom looked like so she couldn't be sure. A few of the nurses began to clean Nina up while Lauren spoke with Bellamy, seeing what questions he could answer for her. If Nina had no cramps then Lauren believed it was not a miscarriage. Clearing her throat, Lauren looked down at the file she had started to Nina. "Doctor Griffin told me that Nina's mother had a difficult pregnancy," she explained. "So while I told Nina some light training would be fine, I'm going to write down that she should do no training." Lauren looked over at the other doctor, who had just gotten the machine running and was now moving Nina's shirt up so he could press the device against her stomach. |

OR He'll say he's just not the same and you'll begin to wonder why you came Everything was her fault and she wasn't sure how she was going to live with herself after this. She knew Bellamy would never forgive her and right now she couldn't blame him. How had she held such little care for the life growing inside of her? How had she believed it wasn't even real despite what the doctors had told her? She had never felt the baby move inside of her but she had always summed it up to it not being strong enough. But now she would never be able to feel it move inside of her because Nina assumed the worse. Her baby was gone.
She hadn't heard Bellamy come into the bathroom and she hadn't felt him beside her. The only reason she had been alerted to his presence was because his hand touched her cheek. She could feel his eyes gazing at her and she let her eyes connect with his for a moment before she had to look away. She felt too guilty to gain any comfort from his mere presence. She couldn't allow herself to feel better because she didn't deserve it. Nina felt utterly numb and zoned out. Her mind was racing and she felt like everything was moving so slow. Painfully slow. Nina could hear Bellamy speaking but she couldn't actually understand what he was saying. It sounded like she was underwater and he was trying to speak to her while he was on the surface.
Nina felt him kiss her forehead and she closed her eyes, tears falling from her eyes as she did so. She didn't deserve him or any of this comfort. He should be angry at her, telling her that he warned her about something like this happening. She felt him press a towel against her and she gulped back another sob at what she had done. Her fault. All her fault. The words wouldn't stop running through her mind. "I'm so sorry," she gasped, pressing her head against Bellamy's chest. What had he just said? Something about walking? Nina could barely think, let alone walk. Oh, god. Walking. Their child would never learn how to walk because of Nina. The whole thing was raising her anxiety and she felt like she couldn't breathe. Perhaps this was the universe's way of telling her that she didn't deserve Bellamy or a baby. She didn't deserve to be happy. |
