whatever THE HELL WE WANT Finally things were looking up for the delinquents. The discovery of guns gave him -- and everyone else -- a renewed hope. A boost of confidence. Finally, they weren't sitting ducks anymore. Finally, they were able to fight back. The Grounders had their own long range weapons. Now, the Delinquents had theirs. Though as Clarke had stated, they weren't toys. Bellamy knew that with him bringing them to camp, the responsibility fell onto him to make sure they stayed out of the hands of reckless and well, downright idiotic people who were just too trigger happy.
The guns weren't here to kill each other with. They were reserved for Grounders. The training sessions had already started and Bellamy was getting a better idea of who was going to be part of the militia; who was skilled and equipped enough to handle the guns. With his decision to stay at camp as well -- not to mention the fact that he had been pardoned for his crimes -- he felt a wave of relief and, determination. Because he was determined to protect each and every one of these delinquents here. With the session over, Bellamy was currently putting the guns back in storage, making sure they were safely guarded so that no one could slip one out.
They emptied them as well, to allow Raven to maximize the bullets; get as many as they could out of them. They had to reserve the ammo for when it was absolutely necessary. Even during training, Bellamy made sure that the bullets weren't wasted. Once the guns were securely stored and emptied, Bellamy stepped out back into the camp and scanned the area. There was a lot that would need to be done. He saw one of the delinquents there, in the same general area that he had set up training. He wasn't sure if she had meant to attend but he approached her none the less.
"You're too late for training," he said, both with sarcasm and a hint of truth. He didn't know her well, but he knew her name. He'd made it a point to learn most people's names here. Especially now, with his silent vow to protect them. His words were a subtle inquiry as to whether she was actually interesting in joining the militia, or whether she needed something else. Perhaps it was as simple as she just happened to be here when Bellamy stepped out. Regardless, the conversation was opened to take whatever direction she liked, as he stood there expectantly, awaiting a response so he'd know how to proceed.

Rylee awoke that morning feeling the same way she did everyday...alone. Her dad was still on the Ark and being locked in the Box doesn't exactly give you time to make friends. The Ground had proven difficult to make allies too. She found herself constantly exploring the outskirts of the camp at night, and then waking up each morning just going through the motions that were expected of her. Sure some of the other girls in camp would probably make great friends and be the ones to whom she could rely on...but Rylee wasn't sure they would understand her the way her dad does...or did. She can't even be sure if her dad is alive anymore.
She shook the thought from her head as she got out of bed and pulled on her tight black jeans and maroon tank top that showed just a sliver of her toned stomach. Just because she was on the Ground didn't mean she was going to give up on her training. She still ran every day and kept in shape. Their leaders talked day in and day out about how they may just have to run one day to escape the Grounders...and Rylee was ready.
As Rylee left her quarters, she squinted at the bright sun as it shone overhead. She was still getting used to the natural light. Everything on the Ark was so artificial. It took her lungs only a day to get used to natural oxygen, but the light was proving more difficult as she did most of her exploring at night. She rubbed her arms as it was a bit chilly outside, but quickly warmed up as the sun hit her skin. She loved the warmth, sure it was bright, but it reminder that she was alive and had a chance to survive in this world.
Her thoughts were shaken when she suddenly heard a man's voice from behind her, low and soft but definitely powerful. She turned at the sound and felt her insides start to flutter...but not out of attraction. Ever since Bradley, her trust for men only worsened. And she knew about this boy...Bellamy Blake...she would need all the fingers of the 100 to count how many girls she had seen go into is tent and come out the next morning. He certainly did not seem like the kind of guy that would understand her...nor even seem interested in her.
However, her father taught her it was rude to ever not respond to someone talking...even if she was mortified of him. She put on a hard face, smirked and turned fully to look at him, though still at a distance. "I'm not late...I chose not to go..." She kept her eyes on him and tilted her head ever so slightly. "I don't really think I need the training...but thanks for your concern" at that she turned on her heel and started to walk away, her brave face falling almost immediately...if she could get to her tent, she could breathe.

whatever THE HELL WE WANT He slightly raised an eyebrow at her response. He wasn't sure of it was confidence, cockiness, or something in between that made her believe she didn't need training. She didn't seem to stick around for an answer. "Everyone needs training," said before she got too far to hear. Her words at least revealed that she was not to attend the training with the guns. Not everyone would be given one; only those who could handle it. And these training sessions would determine which of those could. He had told Clarke that she needed to practice, but it wasn't her primarily role. He had encouraged Raven to attend training, but again, she wasn't going to be in the frontline with the gun.
No. Certain delinquent's expertise rested elsewhere. Bellamy had yet to discover what this particular woman's was. "Maybe not with guns, but definitely in something," he added on with a slight shrug. He proceeded to bend down, finding a stray bullet in the ground, as he continued to look for anymore while talking to her. They couldn't waste even a fragment of one. "Basic self defense," he added nonchalantly, not making eye contact with her as he fixated on the task at hand. With a small handful of the remainders, he pocketed them and looked to see if she was still around, or if she had wandered off.

Rylee heard him speak again and stopped in her tracks to listen to what he had to say. She smirked to herself. He had absolutely no idea the kind of "training" she had already had. She wasn't as weak as she looked, she could guarantee him that. He kept throwing in small comments each time he moved a step, and she felt her anger start to rise. She did not need to learn self defense. Her heart was racing. She turned her head ever so slightly, her hair framing over her eyes. She saw that he had bent down to start picking up what appeared to be bullets. She smirked again...this was her moment.
When he bent down again, she disappeared out of his eyesight, using her speed and agility, and raised an eyebrow when he looked around for her again. Before he had time to realize she was missing from where he had last seen her, she was on him. He was a giant compared to her small frame, but she jumped up onto his back and had her knife at his throat before she had time to even think about what she was doing. Her adrenaline was rushing when she leaned down to his ear and whispered "I said, I don't need training...and I certainly don't need any self defense...." Her breathing was quick and hurried because she could barely handle the idea that she was "attacking" a boy she barely knew....never mind on his back. Her mind was racing, but she was confident in her abilities. She would never hurt him...at least not now. She ahd no reason to. But she had to prove to him that she was capable of protecting herself. She probably knew the woods outside of these walls better than any of the other delinquents or Ark people. He had no idea who he was dealing with. She may be small..but she is certainly deadly. whatever THE HELL WE WANT When he looked up she was no where in sight. But that lasted only for a few mere moments because soon enough, he felt her jump up onto his back, with a blade at his throat. She then spoke directly in his ear, repeating her earlier words of not needing training or self defense. Bellamy wasn't afraid of her attack. It was smart, to use her size to her advantage. Where one couldn't physically over power a grounder, they had to use what skills they were able to. In her case, speed.
Just as she had done right now. Bellamy slightly turned his head to the side to see what he could of her through her peripheral vision. "That so?" He asked tauntingly. In one swift motion, he reached for her and flipped her over, slamming her on the ground on her back, though not too hard. He wasn't going to severely injure one of the delinquents. But the action wasn't tender either.
He peered down at her, looming over her as she lay on the ground with him standing over her position. "Not bad," he said with a slight smirk, giving her the proper respects for even having gotten that close to him. "But unless you've fought a war before, everyone needs training." No one here had. Hell even Bellamy hadn't fought a war. This was something new for the delinquents and undoubtedly would be traumatic but they had no other choice. "How'd you learn?" Self taught or taught by another.

Rylee felt him smirk before she saw it. It brought chills down her spine. And before she knew it she felt the air knocked out of her as her back hit the ground. She felt her breathing quicken again as she looked up at the tall boy towering over her. The sun hit his face and she crawled back a few feet, still facing him, to keep the distance between them.
When he complimented her she smirked back, but then went back to her stone hard face. She couldn't let him get through to her..not yet. She was supposed to prove to him that she could protect herself, not be on the ground cowering away from him. When he asked about her fighting in a war, she laughed. "Do you really think anyone would ever risk putting a "little girl" like me in a war?" Everyone always thought she was useless and fragile. But she couldn't have that.
She studied him from the ground. She was intrigued by him....and his personality. She could see his muscular arms and chest through his shirt. His body itself was a weapon...He was tall and strong. He threw her to the ground as if she was as light as a pillow. She snapped herself out of her study of the man before her, and stood up. She didn't like the idea of him being above her for that long. "I don't need to be in a war to know what it's like. I've lost people...people I loved...and that alone is reason enough to fight." She wiped off her pants and tucked her knife back into her boot.
When he asked how she learned, she snapped her eyes up to his. Rylee took a small breath and pulled her hair into a bun, as it had been thrown about enough during her quick throw-down to the ground. "My dad has been teaching me since I was 6. He prepared me for everything....he always knew something like this could happen to me...so he prepared me to survive...And so far..." She kept her eyes on him and smirked "...I have"

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Risk putting a little girl into war. No. Bellamy didn't see anyone here as 'little girls' or 'little boys'. He didn't see any of the delinquents here as weak. Even Charlotte, he hadn't seen as a kid. They lost the chance to be kids when they were sent down here to die, thrust in a world where they were all forced to survive. "You think losing a loved one is like being in a war?" He asked sarcastically. It was either naivety or over confidence. While Bellamy strongly believed in empowering the delinquents, over confidence was not good. It would leave them truly unprepared for it.
The older male had suffered his own share of loss of loved ones . . . and even still, he knew he was not fully prepared for war. For the emotional, psychological and mental repercussions it could have. Everyone thought it was just a fight, like taking someone's life was nothing. "You ever taken someone's life before?" He asked. He knew what it was, and it didn't feel good. Each life taken was like a part of your soul was ripped away.
He wished he could spare the delinquents of having to endure that, but he couldn't. It was either kill or be killed at this point. "Whatever you learned on the Ark, might help equip you but no one is fully prepared for this." His approach to others had always been tough love. He didn't believe in coddling the others. It did no one any good. He looked at her, hoping she took his advice to heart. "Don't get too cocky. It won't do you any good." Believing that no additional training was needed. Believing that this war, was so easily prepared for. It wasn't. And the more people got ready for it, the better. Hell, everyone needed to . . . even Bellamy himself.

Rylee felt her eyes go dark as he called her out on not being able to compare losing loved ones to war. "I never said that losing a loved one was like going to war...I said that losing someone I loved was enough to get me to fight.." She turned her face to the sun as the wind blew her stray strands of hair around her face. Her thoughts flashed to her mother, her pregnant mother, as she was floated right in front of her husband and 6 year old daughter.
Rylee turned her eyes back to Bellamy when he asked if she had taken a life before. She knew that many of the 100, including him, had done it. She knew that she was amongst murders...but it didn't scare her. Not one bit. "No. I have never taken a life...and no I have not fought in a war...but I know that one day I am going to have to. One day we are going to have to fight. And one day...I will have to kill someone. And you know what? I will do it...and I will have no regrets...because the people who took my family from me had no regrets." Her eyes got dark again and she bit her lip to hold back the emotions that were building behind her brave facade. She felt the emotions regress as she clenched her fists at her sides.
She couldn't let him get the best of her. She was never one to let anyone overpower her, especially a man. She kept her eyes on him and laughed darkly when he told her not to get cocky. She was many things, but cocky she was not. She knew she was vulnerable. She knew that she was just as disposable as any other person on the Ark. But that gave her all the more reason to be ready to win any fight she was thrown into. "I learned everything I know from my father....and he taught me never to be cocky. And I'm not....I'm just confident in what I know. And what I can tell you is that you know nothing about what's out there. You think you do...but you don't. That I am 100% confident about." She had been out into the woods countless times, looking for herbs for her medical supply and to explore, since they had landed on the Ground and she knew that there were things that these kids had no idea about, nor any idea how to handle. She knew Bellamy was strong. She knew he was their leader, but that didn't mean he was fully prepared either.

whatever THE HELL WE WANT So she was one of those people. Her words informed him of a lot, perhaps all he really needed to know. Certainly enough to not stand here and justify himself to her. To be accused about not knowing what was out there . . . well, he didn't need to argue. Most of the delinquents trusted him, were looking to him to lead them into this inevitable war. Hell, even Clarke trusted him with this part. The tactical warfare. Why the hell should he have to stand here and debate it with a single delinquent, when the others seemed to have a better understanding. "Think whatever the hell you want," he spoke back to her. He didn't have time to explain himself, to explain that he damn well knew what was out there. That she acted as if she had a better idea than him, or perhaps anyone else.
"I'm not gonna stand here and argue with you." He began to move some of the makeshift target boards they had used for practice, setting them aside. "You don't wanna take my advice, don't. You think you can do a better job, then go on out there and try. Don't tell me that I don't know what we're dealing with.." He cared about each and every one of the delinquents emphatically, but he wasn't forcing anyone to stay. He didn't have that kind of power over them. They stayed, because they trusted their leaders. They stayed . . . because they had no other choice. He knew what they were dealing with. Hell, it had been why he knew the need of a wall, why he had started setting up defenses, training the others. He had known a war was coming . . . and it was well on it's way now.

Rylee scoffed at how he just told her off. She knew that he was discrediting her just because of his leadership status. He was their leader, she got that. But that didn't mean she didn't know what she was talking about. That drove her nuts. Rylee watched as he turned away to continue cleaning up the camp. She shook her head. He was entirely too protective of the delinquents. Not that she didn't appreciate being protected by someone...but she preferred that he wouldn't automatically assume that she needed protection.
She was about to walk away and just leave things be, but Rylee wasn't one to give up that easily. She smirked and walked back towards him, standing right in front of him while he was still bending down. "You think you know it all? Fine" Rylee turned on her heel and started to walk away again, then turned over her shoulder to keep talking "Sunrise tomorrow....I'll be at the gate. Meet me if you want to actually know what's out there" She kept walking back towards her tent and then turned back to him one more time "And bring your weapon" Rylee clicked her tongue and took a deep breath when she finally got back to her tent. She had never stood up to anyone like that before..especially a boy..an older boy...who she was slowly finding to be attractive. But she couldn't let that happen. Bellamy was the kind of guy that would hurt her...just like Bradley. And yet she just invited him into her world...willingly. She laughed at herself. She was more messed up than she would like to admit. But tomorrow she would prove her point and that would be enough for her.

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Bellamy managed to suppress an eye roll. He had short patience for punk ass delinquents who thought they knew everything. But coincidentally, tomorrow was also when he needed to do a patrol, having offered to take the shift since he was one of the only ones qualified to use a gun. He didn't say anything in return or look at her when she wandered off. He wasn't one to take her orders either. Not that he was on a power trip, but because he didn't need to be told about certain things. Dawn came soon enough and he made his way to the gate, prepared with a pack, his gun with functioning bullets -- as limited as they be -- and a determination to get this patrol quickly done with.
He hardly stopped when he noticed her standing there. "I'm going for a patrol. Come if you want. Don't be an idiot." Those were his only words as he motioned for one of the delinquents to open the gate to let him -- or perhaps them out. He didn't wait for a response from her. He adjusted his gun, gripping it in his hand as he made his way out into the exposed wooded land. This was where they were most vulnerable . . . which was also why he tended to take the patrols. He didn't want to put the other delinquents in harms way.

Rylee awoke the next morning before the sunrise like she always did. Her eyes were fixed on the ceiling. She hadn't had a good night sleep since she got put in the SkyBox...and being on the Ground only made it worse. She awoke to any and every sound that she heard at night fearing that she might have to run.
Remembering that she was meeting her dear leader for a "walk" this morning, she rolled out of bed and pulled her boots on, feeling to make sure that her knife was right were she always kept it. She fixed her sports bra as it had shifted while she slept, and pulled on a tight forest green tank top. She didn't trust loose clothing. It held her back if she ever had to run or fight. She pulled her black shorts over her legs and tied her boots tight to her ankles. Standing up, she grabbed her pack and started to put in things that she knew she would need on their trek.
Two tightly rolled blankets, some food, water, her med kit, and 2 extra knives stowed perfectly into her back pack and she pulled it on over her shoulders. Taking a deep breath, she walked out into the morning sun, squinting at the brightness. Throwing her hair up into a messy bun, she wrapped a white bandana around her head and tied it in a bow atop her hair. Just because she was adventurous, did not mean she couldn't look cute.
The sun started to rise as she got to the gate. She leaned back against the door and waited to see if Bellamy would show up. She had no idea if he actually would, and honestly she really didn't care. It was all up to him if he wanted to join her. She couldn't make him.
Rylee tried to hide her surprise when she saw him walking towards her. His words brought a smirk to her lips as she pulled her backpack back on and followed him out, winking to the boy who opened the gate for them. She took a deep breath in as she embraced the freedom of being outside the walls. She hated being trapped in there, no matter how unsafe they were beyond the gate.
Rylee was significantly shorter than Bellamy, so it took her a bit to catch up to him. She finally did, but all her training made it easy. "Someone isn't so cheerful in the morning..." She said looking over at him with a smirk. "You know if we're going to stay out here together, you're going to have to talk to me eventually....I promise I'm not that bad..." She smirked to herself and looked over at some of the trees they passed looking for signs. She hadn't been able to track in the daylight in quite a while...this was a new adventure for her.

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Her answer came in a non verbal form, as she moved with him to exit the gate, commenting on how he wasn't cheerful in the morning. She went on to say that he was going to have to eventually talk to her, which he supposed was true . . . and assuring him that she wasn't all that bad. "Guess time will tell," he said almost teasingly, but his voice was a bit serious. Stoic, as he always was with the others where business was concerned. "What is it you want to talk about?" Bellamy asked her, genuine in his question despite the blunt tone that he always spoke in.
He himself wasn't an over talker, but he was certainly a listener. Even more so an observer; taking in the sights around them. Taking mental notes of things that could come in handy in the future as they so often did. Right now, he was offering her the chance to start a conversation where words often weren't his top priority. Despite what she said to him the previous day, and the offense that it could cause . . . he still felt that instinctive need to protect every delinquent. Not only physically, but emotionally and psychologically as well. If talking helped ease any of that for her, he wanted to provide her with that comfort. He would do whatever it took to protect his people.

Rylee smiled when Bellamy responded to her. At least she wasn't going to have to talk to herself for the rest of this adventure. That sure would have been boring. Pulling a leaf off a tree as they passed, she played with it between her fingers as she looked up at him. She still couldn't believe how tall the boy, well man, was next to her. She looked like a mere child. "Well..I'll start easy, if we want to call it that....what got you down here with us delinquents? I know you're young, but you were never in the Box....I know that much." She looked over at him as they continued to walk taking in his entire appearance.
Things were getting dangerous for Rylee...she knew that Bellamy was trouble for her. She may have toned back her usual flirting, but she was still flirting and soon enough that would hurt her. She mentally scolded herself and pulled another leaf off a passing tree and rubbed it between her hands. She knew eventually she would find the leaves she needed, but right now it was all a guessing game. That's all tracking was....you found a clue and you went with it. There was no easy way to track. But she knew that eventually she would find leaves with the Grounder's body paint...but it would take time.
She looked back over at Bellamy awaiting his response. She had heard rumors about how he got down here...but she wanted to hear it from the king himself. He seemed all high and mighty, but she knew he had weaknesses just like her...and she would get them out him soon enough..the same way she knew he would break her just the same....

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Bellamy didn't look at her when she asked the question. This time, it wasn't due to any annoyance or well, anything against the delinquent. It was due to the guilt of his actions, and the lack of regret. His demeanour remained stoic as ever, but inside, he was met with an array of emotions. When Raven had come down, she'd exposed his actions that had gotten him on the drop ship. She had also revealed that he hadn't in fact murdered the Chancellor because he was still alive. That had further set Bellamy's determination to leave the camp, knowing that he would never be pardoned for his crimes. But he was. He was no longer a fugitive.
"I did whatever it took," he answered ambiguously. He knew that the reason wasn't a massive secret, yet he felt oddly uncomfortable saying the words himself unless prompted by another. Though even when Raven had called him out for it, he hadn't given much of an explanation . . . other than telling her to shut up. Ultimately, this had all been for Octavia. But now, his protective nature channeled into the rest of the delinquents.
"What about you?" The comfort of not talking about himself prompted by returning the question to her. It was far easier for him to focus on the others rather than his own self. "What did you do to get you sent down here?" To get her locked up in the Sky Box and then thrown onto the drop ship. Finally, his interactions with here were turning into something with more substance. Into something that wasn't hostile and allowing him to actually get to know the younger individual on this new kind of level.
