I can barely control this feeling, look at the ambition in my eyes, then count to five . . . | Cage say back in the chair, stretching his legs out under the table, his expression stern and serious. And then he smirked, the kind that was unnerving and scheming. "There is plenty that you can be doing to help our people, Dalton. Plenty." Dalton was close enough in age to the forty-eight kids that had bought into their mountain. Cage had a suspicion that Dalton, like Maya, would be able to get close to them.
And Cage was not a fool. To have an ally behind enemy lines was an invaluable asset, one that only an idiot would pass up. But these kids were smart, crazy, deeply intelligent, and stupid. "I want you to get to know them." He said simply, as though it was the plainest plan in the word. And it was. Get to know them. Find out their weaknesses, their strengths.
"I want you to be my eyes and ears on the inside, do you understand?" He asked. "And if you learn anything valuable, you'll tell me. You do that for me, and I'll let you go with only a warning." |

I can barely control this feeling, look at the ambition in my eyes, then count to five . . . | Even now after introductions were made and niceties shared he had lingering feelings of uncertainty... jealousy. It wasn't something that he could control, but something he understood. Cage had been born in the mountain - had been it's prisoner for years, thirty-five long, grueling years, and now the people that could walk in the forests and open air had moved into their prison, called it home, mistook what it truly was.
It wasn't their fault, the children, their families, had done nothing to warrant his ill-feelings. They had suffered in the real world. Lost their friends and family to the grounders, and now saw the mountain as their salvation. But it was there, curling through his belly like a slithering serpent. It was just unfortunate circumstanced. Still, despite it all, Cage was welcoming to them, took the time to speak with each of them.
He had moved through the halls, felt them closing in, suffocating him, and thought nothing of it. It was robotic, the way he moved, the way each step of each hall was ingrained into his mind. Strides carried him to the library, a familiar scene; the head of security reading. Many wouldn't believe he was an educated man with as much brain as brute.
He stopped abruptly when dark hues landed on the familiar features of one of their guests: Baron Tseng. Cage liked the man well enough despite not knowing him well. He supposed that would change now that they were living in the mountain. "You've nothing to apologize for." He said, waving his hand to dismiss him. "We have quite the impressive collection. You're welcome to borrow as many as you like." |

I can barely control this feeling, look at the ambition in my eyes, then count to five . . . | Not one to judge. Cage almost laughed out loud. He knew that each and every person made snap judgements and he was not foolish enough to think that Dalton was any different. He understood that his methods were unorthodox, extreme and cruel; many would think him evil, detestably so, but it was not the case. Cage was willing to make the hard decisions.
Dalton's words were reassuring. “I am glad to hear that.” Cage could not allow their plans to be disturbed. Sacrifices would need to be made to ensure the survival of their people. It had already been decided that if Dalton would not word with him, if his silence could not be bought, then he would be one of their own people given to Doctor Tsing. Taking the seat opposite the young man, Cage stared into his eyes. Elbows rested on the table and hands clasped together. "Now, what are you doing to ensure out people walk outside?" Cage needed all the help he could get and given Dalton was closer to their ages, he would be an asset to the project. |

I can barely control this feeling, look at the ambition in my eyes, then count to five . . . | Cage did not make any attempt to be welcoming; he kept his back to Baron, did not acknowledged him when he introduced himself, and even sneered when he offered his condolences. He did nothing until silence enveloped them, and then he stood. There was a silent rage to the Mountain Man; an anger so strong that he seemed to vibrate with it. He glared down at the other man, not caring that he was seated on the ground in what was surely a sign of mutual respect, not caring that he had thus far been cordial, respectful even. "You have come to offer me your condolences, is that right, Mister Tseng?" There was malice to his words, an unmistakable disdain as he addressed him. Typically Cage was able to contain his emotions, to be in charge of himself and remain level headed and tactful. But given the circumstances, one could not blame him for being so callous. "In that case where are they? The ones who killed my father, killed my people." He said while looking about with sarcastic expectancy, making a show, before turning his narrowed eyes back to Bacon. "That is the only way I will accept them, that I will forgive your people for eradicating mine. The only way is if you hand over those responsible and allow me to bring them justice." He knew that it wouldn't happen, not now, not ever. He was the bad guy here, not them. And the Sky People were loyal, a trait that Cage would have found admirable had things not progress the way they had.

I can barely control this feeling, look at the ambition in my eyes, then count to five . . . | Cage cursed under his breath. So, Dalton had seen enough for it to not be possible to let him out of custody. At least not at the moment. That was unfortunate. "You saw our guest being tested on, and have naturally assumed I am the bad guy. The words were stated as fact, not as a question. Cage understood why Dalton, and the others, might feel that way.It could be argued that it was wrong of him to authorise the testing, the experiments, on the teenagers. After all, they were just children; children who had already, in the short time they had been on the ground, endured such terrible things. They were kids who were carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders. They were innocent. They should have been busy being teenagers; living, learning, having fun. Not burying their dead, not fighting for their lives. But Dalton didn't understand. Cage, Lorelei, Carl -- they were all fighting for the people of Mount Weather, fighting to free them from the bunker, to return them to the world.Without the bone marrow of those teenagers, the people of Mount Weather would be stuck there forever. Trapped in the dark. Never free. That was why these experiments were happening. It was why it had to happen."Dalton, would you believe me if I told you there was a way for us to leave in the real world, to see the sun and stars through our own eyes and not a helmet. Those kids? They hold the key." |

I can barely control this feeling, look at the ambition in my eyes, then count to five . . . | Cage paced back and forth across the room, his strides short and angry as he considered the options available to him. "What did you think was going to happen? That we wouldn't catch you? This area is restricted, you know that, Dalton." He kept his voice calm and steady as he turned his gaze on the younger man. He knew Dalton well given that the other man worked with the security team, of which Cage was the head of. There had been some issues with him in the past, nothing that he hadn't been able to handle. Overall he was a... good kid, he was just young and dumb in Cage's opinion. Most young adults Dalton's age were. They tended to believe they were ten foot tall and bulletproof; untouchable. But breaking into a restricted area was above and beyond what others had done. And learning about the secret experiments took the cake. It had put them both into an awkward situation. With a deep sigh he sat down opposite the other man. Hands folded neatly on the table, and stared into his eyes. "What did you see, exactly?" |

I can barely control this feeling, look at the ambition in my eyes, then count to five . . . | This was not how it was meant to happen. His people weren't meant to die, he wasn't meant to be a prisoner. Cage was suppose to save them, to have given them the life they had been dreaming about for centuries. A life out in the fresh air, under the stars, among the trees, not trapped in that bunker. But it hadn't happened that way. His father was dead, all of his people, with the exception of Carl Emerson, had died in the mountain. As for himself, he had been captured by the grounder he had once experimented on. Lincoln, he had heard them call him. Lincoln had taken him back to their camp, where he had been held in the same cell Emerson had one been held in .
And then he had heard, through the grapevine, that they were moving into Mount Weather. They had cleared out the bodies of the people they had killed, and taken their home. Cage was disgusted by them. The hours dragged days, the days into months, and each day they came to him. Maybe they were looking for answers, closure even, for him to accept the blame they'd laid at his feet. But Cage was not so easily rattled. He held his tongue, refusing to give them the satisfaction of breaking him. He would rather die before giving in. He was sitting with his back to the door when it opened, not wanting to speak with them today. He'd grown quite tired of being interrogated. "One would have thought you people would have learned by now that I do not want to talk." He said, his voice lace with irritation and sarcasm. |
