Things were finally starting to settle down, well, as much as things could given all that had happened and was still happening. The delinquents had made a nice little home for themselves. Tents, and fires, and the security of walls. Bellamy had even brought back a panther to feed them, which only added fuel to his cause. And even with the ever looming threat of grounder attacks, and all the dangers the world posed, things were... good.
So why did she feel the way she did? So alone even when surrounded by people that understood exactly how she felt. Why did her mind always wander back in time, to when she was a prisoner in the Sky Box, to the aftermath of hers and her fathers crime. Maybe... because that was when they met.
Words could not describe what it was like for her, living in the Sky Box-—the utter loneliness and hopelessness of it. Sure, she had had a visitor from time to time. Most of them did. But she had still been alone, scared, still devastated by the events that had led to her being imprisoned. And then one night as she tapped a melody against the wall with tears in her eyes, someone had answered.
It was innocent enough at first. They talked; tapping melodies and words in a language not many on the Ark remembered. Her father had taught it to her while she was in the medical bay recovering. And the more they communicated this way, the more addicted she became. It was a lifeline for her, something to get her through the lonely nights. And then, just like before, everything changed.
The delinquents were sent to the ground. And she had looked, and looked but never found them because of all that had happened. There were more important things to be done. She never did learn who it was on the other side of that wall.
So sometimes, like now, she wondered and yearned for what they had shared. And as she remembered her fingers tapped, nails click-klakking a familiar melody against the metal of the drop ship she lent against in the hopes that someone would hear and recognize it. That was all she really wanted, she supposed. For things to be like they were before because dammit she hated change.

Hello Malia!! I am SO up for doing a thread with you! I like the idea of our characters coming across each other in a cave during an acid fog storm and having to get along until it passes. And it would totally make sense for Leia to stumble into Trishana territory since she's not all that good at navigating the forests. xD

Leiana Y. LaCroix
| DELINQUENT | SEVENTEEN | | SURVIVOR | Leiana is one of the delinquents that was sent to Earth. The chances of survival were slim but somehow they accomplished the impossible, and made a home for themselves.
She is a quiet individual, with her instincts geared strongly into flight rather than fight. But she is loyal to the delinquents and the home they've made for themselves, though she still holds a bit of loyalty to the Ark and some of those aboard it.
The young woman is willing to meet new people, and even to make new friends, but it can be difficult to get to know her at times. She is cautious of others and often questions their motives, this can lead her to making enemies of the wrong people.
But once a person has gotten to know her she can be adventurous and spontaneous, even over-confident and hasty. There is also potential to be a helpless romantic when the right person is involved.
If you would like to do a thread with Leiana, please feel free to send me a personal message or even reply here! I have no preferences, though am a hopeless romantic myself (be warned <3), and am open to do absolutely anything and everything!
Strengths: Brave; Clever; Kind; Knowledgeable; Observant; Patient; Passionate; Polite; Reliable; Romantic;
Weaknesses: Distant; Emotional; Hasty; Manipulative; Naïve; Nervous; Quiet; Stubborn; Unpredictable; Untrusting:
Allies: Delinquents; To be added

| ~ • ~ | Character Basics | ~ • ~ |
.:Name:. Leiana Yeul LaCroix .:Nick Name:. Leia; Princess .:Affiliation:. The Ark; Delinquents .:Age:. Seventeen (as of season 1)
| ~ • ~ | Appearance | ~ • ~ |
.:Physical Appearance:.
Leiana stands at just over five foot and weighs roughly fifty kilos when soaking wet, making her someone that is easily overlooked. In spite of this she is an attractive young woman with a fair complexion and long dark hair that cascades down the length of her back.
She is said to have a unique stare because of an accident that happened when she was only a child. Her eyes were originally blue but are now cloudy as she is partially blind. Often they are useless for anything other then depicting emotions.
Her vision is blurry even at the best of times. She has trouble distinguishing colors and shapes, has difficulties seeing in bright light as well as the dark, and its not uncommon for fast movements to disorientate her. There are scars around her eyes, along her neck, and on her body as well as a result of the accident.
Leiana is very self-conscious about her scars and often tries to hide them behind her hair and layers of clothing. It is not something she likes to draw attention too or talk about. Leiana tries hard to maintain a clean and tidy appearance despite the situation she and the other delinquents have been forced into. .:Height:. Five foot and one inch .:Portrayed by:. Adelaide Kane
| ~ • ~ | Personality | ~ • ~ |
.:Personality:.
Leiana seems to draw others to her like moths to a flame with her seeming innocence and naivety. More often than not it is danger and trouble that find her as people believe it is possible to corrupt her. Leiana, however, is not as innocent as people tend to assume.
She understands that her disability puts her at a disadvantage and makes her an easy target for wildlife, and grounders, and delinquents alike. So she does what is necessary to survive on a post-apocalyptic earth. This could be keeping secrets or exposing them. She is deceptive, manipulative, and stubborn.
Her quiet demeanor and small size mean that others often overlook her, so they tend to talk freely around her. Leiana overhears conversations and secrets that people would rather keep hidden. She will use this knowledge to ensure those that would rather leave her in the wilderness are more inclined to offer protection.
Impulsive, reckless, emotional, and smart-mouthed, she is all of these things. Leiana does not allow others to dictate what she can and cannot do, not ever. She craves the freedom to make such choices for herself and becomes upset, even belligerent, when people take it from her.
Leiana is a likeable person despite all her flaws. If one is willing to take the time to get to know her, to gain her trust, she is a loyal friend.
.:Special Skills:.
Hearing :: Leiana's hearing has always been good—really good. She doesn't need to be standing right beside a person to hear what they are saying. She could be across a large room, lurking outside, or even hidden somewhere nearby. Even at a distance she is able to make out whispered words with some degree of certainty.
Knowledgeable :: Being blind means that Leiana is always at a disadvantage. She needs to be escorted between places and rescued from simple situations and can be a burden at times but she makes up for this with an array of knowledge. Leiana failed practical schoolwork because of her disability but excelled at theory. Now she possesses a mountain of information that can be advantageous to the delinquents.
She knows the appearance of some plants and whether or not they can be eaten. She knows that water flows downhill and how to purify it when it has been tainted. Leiana has a vague understanding of what plants grow best in what seasons. She is very knowledgeable but when panicked or pressured she has difficulties recalling information quickly.
| ~ • ~ | History | ~ • ~ |
.:Birthplace:. The Ark
.:Family:. Chloe Fox (mother) and Kane LaCroix (father; non-biological)
.:Occupation:. Student .:History:.
Leiana, like all the delinquents, was born aboard the Ark. Having been the only child of Kane LaCroix and Chloe Fox it wasn't uncommon for her to be spoiled, showered with affection and gifts when possible, mainly by Chloe. Because of this Leiana had a closer relationship with her mother than her father.
As a young child Leiana was outgoing and friendly and had no difficulties making friends with other children. She rarely thought to question the intentions of those she met and always saw the best in them. This was a source of amusement and distress for her mother. While she was thrilled that her daughter was able to make friends so easily, she was not at all pleased by how the older children were able to talk her into activities that were not approved of.
It was one such time when a group of children were playing a game of hide-and-seek an accident had happened. The children, unknown to the authorities and their parents, snuck into a restricted area to play their game. As they were running, a large barrel was knocked over and split. Leiana and another young girl had been caught in the spill and were rushed to the medical bay after the accident became known to the authorities.
There are only a few individuals that know exactly what was in the barrel as the circumstances of the accident were kept quiet from the populace. But the results were devastating. Leiana was left emotionally and physically scarred, and her eyesight deteriorated rapidly. The other girl, Charlotte, passed away.
After this accident Leiana became a more withdrawn individual and was far less trusting. As she became a teenager she began spending more time at school and took extra lessons. Leiana very much enjoyed subjects that immersed her in knowledge and provided an escape from home.
The LaCroix family appeared to be very close but such was not the case. Their household was plagued with betrayal, deceit and jealousy. Her parents fought often and it was clear that their marriage had become strained. This was enough to drive her mother to seek comfort in the arms of other men.
Chloe's infidelity became known when Kane returned home from work unexpectedly and found her in bed with another man. During the ensuing argument it was revealed that Kane was not Leiana's biological father and this sent the man into a rage.
Leiana was present at the time, unknown to the three. She had been unwell that morning and returned from school early to rest. Hearing her father's angry shouts led her to hide inside one of the closets; there she clutched a kitchen knife, and prayed that he wouldn't find her.
As the screams grew louder concerned neighbors contacted the guards but unfortunately they arrived too late. Kane had murdered Chloe and her lover. He resisted arrest but was ultimately taken into custody and would later be sentenced to death via being floated. The guardsmen found Leiana cowering in the closet but as one of the men attempted to remove her, she lashed out.
She was distraught, panicked, and frightened. In the midst of her emotional turmoil she stabbed the man.
Leiana was taken into custody and charged with assault.
There were many that believed she should never have been imprisoned given the circumstances of her crime but their voices were unable to sway the verdict. Leiana spent two years the Sky Box before being sent to the ground with the other delinquents.

If you've got troubles, I've got em too. There isn't anything I wouldn't do for you. There was a frown playing at the edges of her mouth when Tara explained they couldn’t meet under better circumstances. Her words were confusing at first...and then worrying, causing a pang of unease. The young girl thought about asking for more information, for clarification to calm her thoughts, but the way Tara had spoken made her feel that it wasn’t an tale either wanted to relive.
She could tell that there was something wrong with Tara, even with her damaged eyesight. She could feel the worry rolling of her in near tangible waves. Was there a hint of fear as well? Leiana wondered what it was that had Tara so...on edge. It had to have been something really serious.
So Leiana let it go. At least for the time being. There was a possibility that after they had come to known each other more that such an explanation would be offered. But in the meantime she didn’t push Tara and instead forced a smile back to her lips. “Okay. I’ll start,” she decided and then pondered a question.
“What’s your favourite colour? Mine is blue. Or and purple. And red!” It was a simply question, a small start as to not make either of them uncomfortable again. Leiana did not want to frightened away the only person in medical that seemed to be her age.

Drop his name, push it in and twist the knife again. Watch my face as I pretend to feel no pain. His words only caused more anger, had her biting at the bit to slap him across the face. It was like an irrational conflagration, one that had built without warning and threatened to burn out just as quickly. The tears still fell in a ceaseless river flow but the anger seemed to fade away until all that remained was the hurt. He had done what he had to do. The words disgusted her but silently she understood why he said them.
They all did what needed to be done to ensure their own survival. Had their roles been reversed then it was likely she would have done just the same. Perhaps the reason it bothered her so much, the reason it hurt so much was because he had no apologies to give, showed no remorse. . .he just didn’t seem to care.
Leiana stumbled as he shoved her hand from him, no doubt irritated and annoyed by how she tried to manipulate him. He was right, however. She needed to make smart decisions. Starting with finding out how much removing that bracelet was worth to him. She drew in a shuddering breath, forcing herself to calm down enough to not look like a blubbering mess. Now was not the time to break down. That should have been reserved for someone more private.
Small fists rubbed the tears from her eyes roughly before she looked up at him once more. There were words playing on her tongue, begging to be spoken; a smart aleck remark about how she would be his prisoner if she took it off but she held them back. She swallowed hard, trying to dislodge the lump of emotions that had made itself at home in her throat. “I can twist our story into your favour, Bellamy. I can make you out to be the saint instead of the villain. I can make them adore you more than already do.”
He had the masses fired up and riled up. And with Wells playing Chancellor junior here on the ground, all it would take was a few well-spoken lies to sway more of them to Bellamys cause. Leiana was certain that he could benefit from having her on his side. “You saved me, don't you remember? They were going to float me after I attacked that guard." Leiana wondered only for a moment if it had been him or one of the others on the receiving end of her knife. That was a detail she just couldn't seem to recall.
"You convinced them not to. The Sky Box was a more fitting place, you said. You had them believing that locking me away was an act of punishment, that I would be alone and miserable but really you saved my life." Was it a believable lie? Was it enough to twist his arm? She hoped it was.
"So. . .what is the bracelet worth to you? Would you rather them think you helped sentence a terrified girl to imprisonment or that you saved her from a horrible death?"

Drop his name, push it in and twist the knife again. Watch my face as I pretend to feel no pain. His hands grasping her wrists had been another reminder of that day, how the guards had held her tightly to keep her from hurting them, and herself. Leiana tried to pull away from him, to tear herself from his grasp but wasn’t strong enough. Bellamy tried to reason away his part in her arrest, claiming that it had been them and not him that had put her in there, that it was them that had sent her to the ground. He wasn’t wrong, but he was to blame as well and it wasn’t something easily forgiven.
Blame placement was wrong in the opinion of the young woman as it mean a person couldn't own to their own doings and the outcomes of such events. “You helped them!” Even if he had only assisted in the arrest, he also hadn’t tried to stop them as they manhandled a frightened teenager from the only home she knew. He had let them arrest her even though she had witnessed the murder of her mother, even knowing she was alone and afraid. He hadn’t stopped them. He hadn’t even tried.
“I want to get back at you.” She was being childish, letting her emotions get the best of her and lashing out at him because he was here and they weren’t. At first she kept the bracelet on because convincing the Ark they were all dead hadn’t seemed like a good idea. But now? Now, she would refuse to take it off just to spite him.
Leiana turned to glare up at him, tears still falling without remorse. She slapped the palm of her now free hand against his arm while trying to remove herself from his grasp once again. “You want me to take the damn thing off? You want me to keep my mouth shut and not tell the others what you did? Then you better make it worth my while...”

Drop his name, push it in and twist the knife again. Watch my face as I pretend to feel no pain. Her arms had remained crossed while she lowered her gaze, refusing to meet his eyes as he pointed out the obvious flaws in her earlier words. Leiana did not like the way he could make her worry so easily, or how he could make her feel so uncomfortable with only his presence or a few words.
“I don’t think it’s your concern how I’m behaving.” Leiana challenged but he was right, and she knew that. She was allowing her own stubbornness to jeopardize her safety just as much as his campaign with the delinquents did. Leiana sighed softly, and pursed her lips thoughtfully about how to handle him before it all came back without warning.
It was like a tonne of bricks slamming into her chest, forcing the air from her lungs. Her knees wobbled and buckled, threatening to give out as a hand snapped over her mouth in an effort to stifle the gasping realization. The memories, buried under weeks, and months, and years of self-pity and loathing came rushing back. She had been just fifteen when she and Bellamy met for the first time.
** Leiana could remember hiding in the closet, cowering in fear and sobbing quietly. She was certain that was how they had known where to find her. It was right when her mother was murdered...by her father. Raul had still been in a rage, screaming and rampaging through the small home in search of his daughter when the guards had arrived. The guards had arrived not long after her father begun trying to force the closet door open.
She remembered hearing another scuffle as they tried to apprehend her father and remove him from the crime scene. Shouted commands faded into softly spoken orders as she continued to cower, clutching to her chest one of the kitchen knives. Leiana hadn’t known what was happening on the other side of that door, didn’t know whom was there or if her father was still stalking her.
When the closet had been open she lashed out without warning. Leiana hadn’t known it at the time but she landed a blow or two with the knife. And then the rest was history. She’d been arrested alongside her father, and locked in the skybox.
As the memories faded she found that her breathing was erratic, and that she couldn’t keep the conflicting emotions from her eyes. It was him. Bellamy had been the one to arrest her. Or at least, he had helped. That realization hurt more then she anticipated it would. There was an undeniable anger, mixed with hurt, and pain of the past. Did he remember? Did he even care?
“No one. There’s no one up there for me now. No one to miss me, no one to want to protect, no one that needs me.” It hadn’t been the entire truth. There was Tara, whom Leiana had come to love like a sister. But the hurt was overwhelming, as was the anger just as loud, and she wasn’t thinking clearly.
Leiana lashed out again as the first of the tears fell. Her small fist hitting him in the chest with as much strength as she could muster in that moment, which really wasn’t all that much.

If you've got troubles, I've got em too. There isn't anything I wouldn't do for you. There interactions were at first a little awkward, at least Leiana had thought that way. It felt as though neither of them were willing to explain the whole truth about the reasons for them being in Medical, but there was no denying that having the company was nice. Especially someone her own age for a change.
The adults were nice, and they did their best to talk with the kids, but it was obvious that they didn’t all know how to handle small children or their fears. A small, almost bitter smile, crested the young girl’s lips as Tara mentioned they would see each other often. It was a good thing, that was very true, but it was also a bad thing.
Leiana didn’t want to have to come back to Medical. She wanted to go back to how things had been before the accident, when she could run and play, laugh and not worry about the future. She wanted those things for Tara too, even though they had just met and didn’t really know each other. It wasn’t right for kids to have to spend all their time being poked and prodded by doctors.
“It’ll be nice to have someone to talk to next time I have to come back.” She finally replied after a long pause. She was staring down to where they hands were still linked and gentle gave Tara’s fingers a squeeze. “Maybe next time we’ll be put closer together.” Leiana hoped that this day was not a chance encounter, and that for that she and Tara became genuine friends.
