Drop his name, push it in and twist the knife again. Watch my face as I pretend to feel no pain. Leiana could not deny that Earth was beautiful, even with her limited sight. The world was an array of blurred, and muted colours, shapes that blended together if she concentrated too hard. But there were colours for the first time in years. And there were bird chirping, and fresh air, and cold water.
There was life. There was suddenly a reason for living where only a short while ago there had been none.
But she could not allow herself to become lost in the beauty of all that was around her. Whispered words had not escaped the young woman's notice. There were those that wanted to remove the bracelets monitoring them, and to convince those on the Ark that the ground was not survivable. Leiana had not been one agree with their foolishness.
There was no one aboard the Ark that would mourn the loss of her; no mother, no father, no one to shed tears for her dearly departed soul. But she could not see the logic in convincing the Chancellor, and the Councillors, and all the innocent lives aboard the floating death-trap that they were stuck to die in space.
And so she hide, avoiding the main perpetrators removing their bracelets. Like Murphy and Bellamy.
As first it had not be so difficult of a task. There were many others whom refused to remove their bracelets, and that kept their attention away from herself. But as more, and more gave into Bellamy’s speeches of no rules and freedom, it was only a matter of time before their attention came full circle back to her and those that refused to kowtow to his demands.
First thread yay! I hope its okay. : D

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Things were going as well as could be expected on the ground. Bellamy had no idea what the hell the council was thinking; sending a bunch of delinquents down, as if they knew how to govern themselves. Did they not expect the chaos that would happen? Or did they expect that the princess and Jaha Junior were going to lead the people? Well, that was where they were utterly wrong. Like hell if Bellamy was going to let them take control.
Though, he didn't have to do as much persuading as he thought. With the Princess and her Knight trying to tell everyone what they should do, people had already started protesting. Wells inevitably had a target on his back, and Bellamy had used all these things to his advantage. Several of the people down here were middle to lower class citizens on the Ark, not privileged ones. And that was what he needed to tap into; that was how he needed to reach out to them. And he was able to do that.
Though, his true motives for it remained a secret. One that he hadn't even revealed to his sister. Bellamy had to make sure the Ark didn't come down . . . because they would kill him for assassinating the Chancellor. Better to leave that detail out. And instead, he preached freedom to the people. Telling them of their worth, unlike how the Ark saw them. They were sent down here to die, as guinea pigs, never meant to survive. But Bellamy was working to have them think differently. Besides, not all his words held falsehood.
His mission now was to sever all ties to the Ark, including the damn bracelets that they wore on their wrists. Last night Bellamy had returned with a panther . . . exchanging food for the removal of the bracelet. It helped his cause but not everyone was swayed. He wasn't even going to bother with the princess. Instead, he focused his attentions on people that he could actually convince.
While he was moving around camp, he caught glimpse of someone he hadn't noticed in the line, his eyes immediately falling to her wrist. The bulky silver band was impossible to miss. But furthermore, he recognized her from the Ark. He suppressed any alarm over it knowing of her condition. He had assisted the arrest during his time in the guards program and she had been the one getting arrested. The odds of it were not that unlikely but still. Bellamy knew that this would create greater aversion to him and his cause if she blamed him at all.
Concealing any of these thoughts, he steeled his emotions. Something that he had a lifetime of experience doing, with protecting his sister every day and having to hide the truth from the entire public. Especially during moments of near discovery. He casually approached her, nonchalant and his voice not holding accusation. "Have you eaten anything?" He asked. There was limited concern in his voice, for it held a very subtle tease to it. Perhaps she had managed to scrape together some food, but it sure as hell wasn't he meat he brought. And if it was . . . then he was going to need to have a chat with Murphy and Mgebe.

Drop his name, push it in and twist the knife again. Watch my face as I pretend to feel no pain. How cruel fate was to bring them together when all she had wanted was to avoid him. Bellamy’s presence was an irritation, she had no desire for a back and forth conversation of him demanding she remove the bracelet and her refusing him. It had also been a reason for concern. If he wanted to forcefully remove it then there would be very little she could do to stop him.
Her steps halted as he approached, and she gave him a sidelong glance. For a moment his question caught her off guard. Had he been concerned for her? No, that was so very unlikely. Leiana had no doubts that he had ulterior motives centring on the metal contraption encircling her wrist. “I’m not hungry.” She replied while turning to face him, arms raising to cross against her chest. The soft rumbling of her stomach dispelled that lie, but Leiana made certain to keep her gaze on him. She hadn't been eating when the price of it was the bracelet. She studied him closely, not yet recognizing him as the man whom assisted in her arrest but rather as the one now threatening her safety on Earth.
Bellamy was an attractive man, she could see that even through the haze of her vision. With roguish good looks, and a charismatic smirk or smile, it was easy to understand how he win the hearts and minds of those around him. He was a natural leader; determined, persistent, but everything he preached was threatening her safety in the camp.
“Can I help you with something, Bellamy?” She kept her voice low, gentle as not to come across as confrontational. She lowered her gaze to stare at her feet for only a moment before offering him a soft smile. “Or was there something in particular you needed?”

whatever THE HELL WE WANT She wasn't hungry. Bellamy found that difficult to believe. Considering the very limited supplies sent down with them, there hadn't been much to go around. The panther had been lucky, and with nearly 100 people to feed, the need for hunting would be higher in demand. One panther wasn't going to last them long. He watched her, a slightly raised eyebrow though he was hardly phased from his purpose. While he could use brute force, he didn't want to. Unlike with Wells, but that was to prove a point.
Wells was already a target here on the ground, those who were wronged by his father taking it out on him. For they lacked the knowledge that Bellamy had killed Jaha . . . a small detail that he would not voice to awareness. "It's about what I can do for you," Bellamy stated. "How long do you think that stubbornness of yours is going to last?" He questioned, only partially rhetorically.
"You aren't gonna surive down here unless you make some smart decisions. Starving yourself, sure as hell isn't a smart one." When the solution was so damn simple. He glanced down at her bracelet before meeting her gaze again. He had learned during the arrest that her sight was impaired, so couldn't help but wonder if she had made the connection. His name was common knowledge here, son that was hardly an indicator. "Who are you protecting up there?" He asked her.

Drop his name, push it in and twist the knife again. Watch my face as I pretend to feel no pain. Her arms had remained crossed while she lowered her gaze, refusing to meet his eyes as he pointed out the obvious flaws in her earlier words. Leiana did not like the way he could make her worry so easily, or how he could make her feel so uncomfortable with only his presence or a few words.
“I don’t think it’s your concern how I’m behaving.” Leiana challenged but he was right, and she knew that. She was allowing her own stubbornness to jeopardize her safety just as much as his campaign with the delinquents did. Leiana sighed softly, and pursed her lips thoughtfully about how to handle him before it all came back without warning.
It was like a tonne of bricks slamming into her chest, forcing the air from her lungs. Her knees wobbled and buckled, threatening to give out as a hand snapped over her mouth in an effort to stifle the gasping realization. The memories, buried under weeks, and months, and years of self-pity and loathing came rushing back. She had been just fifteen when she and Bellamy met for the first time.
** Leiana could remember hiding in the closet, cowering in fear and sobbing quietly. She was certain that was how they had known where to find her. It was right when her mother was murdered...by her father. Raul had still been in a rage, screaming and rampaging through the small home in search of his daughter when the guards had arrived. The guards had arrived not long after her father begun trying to force the closet door open.
She remembered hearing another scuffle as they tried to apprehend her father and remove him from the crime scene. Shouted commands faded into softly spoken orders as she continued to cower, clutching to her chest one of the kitchen knives. Leiana hadn’t known what was happening on the other side of that door, didn’t know whom was there or if her father was still stalking her.
When the closet had been open she lashed out without warning. Leiana hadn’t known it at the time but she landed a blow or two with the knife. And then the rest was history. She’d been arrested alongside her father, and locked in the skybox.
As the memories faded she found that her breathing was erratic, and that she couldn’t keep the conflicting emotions from her eyes. It was him. Bellamy had been the one to arrest her. Or at least, he had helped. That realization hurt more then she anticipated it would. There was an undeniable anger, mixed with hurt, and pain of the past. Did he remember? Did he even care?
“No one. There’s no one up there for me now. No one to miss me, no one to want to protect, no one that needs me.” It hadn’t been the entire truth. There was Tara, whom Leiana had come to love like a sister. But the hurt was overwhelming, as was the anger just as loud, and she wasn’t thinking clearly.
Leiana lashed out again as the first of the tears fell. Her small fist hitting him in the chest with as much strength as she could muster in that moment, which really wasn’t all that much.

whatever THE HELL WE WANT She revealed what Bellamy had assumed, in regards to family anyway if he recalled her situation up in the Ark correctly. She didn't have anyone up there. "Then why leave it on?" He questioned. But, he took notice that something shifted. Something hit her . . . realization. The tears that flooded her eyes and her fists beating into him clear indication of that. It didn't hurt, Bellamy had dealt with worse. But nor was he going to stand here and let a delinquent pound into him. "Hey," he said in a strong voice; not a yell but not a softened tone either.
He reached out and grabbed her wrists to stop her, fingers curling around her tiny ones. "Calm the hell down," he demanded bluntly. Deep down, he would never forget the arrest. Because arresting a young girl around Octavia's age had been too close to home. Thoughts of how it could have been O having consumedn him. But allowing those emotions out now, expressing regret in this moment would only deem him vunlerablein front of everyone else. He couldn't afford that. Not with what he was trying to achieve. He looked at her intently, knowing that it may take more than just a vocalized demand for her to actually comply. "They're the ones who put you in there, not me." He was following orders; choice stripped from him.
Just as it had been the moment a new born baby was placed in his arms. He was acting on orders . . . though it didn't make him internalize the guilt any less. But that was where it had to say, without any reveal: inside. "They're the ones who sent you down here." Further reminder; that they had sent everyone down here to die. "And you're helping them." By keeping the bracelet on. They had come down here, taken all the risks . . . and the otehrs were in the safety of their homes. "You wanna get back at them?" He questioned rhetorically. His hand released her other wrist and instead, continued to only lightly grip the one that she wore the bracelet on. He held up her forearm in front of them both. "Take the damn thing off." Because that was what it all came down to.

Drop his name, push it in and twist the knife again. Watch my face as I pretend to feel no pain. His hands grasping her wrists had been another reminder of that day, how the guards had held her tightly to keep her from hurting them, and herself. Leiana tried to pull away from him, to tear herself from his grasp but wasn’t strong enough. Bellamy tried to reason away his part in her arrest, claiming that it had been them and not him that had put her in there, that it was them that had sent her to the ground. He wasn’t wrong, but he was to blame as well and it wasn’t something easily forgiven.
Blame placement was wrong in the opinion of the young woman as it mean a person couldn't own to their own doings and the outcomes of such events. “You helped them!” Even if he had only assisted in the arrest, he also hadn’t tried to stop them as they manhandled a frightened teenager from the only home she knew. He had let them arrest her even though she had witnessed the murder of her mother, even knowing she was alone and afraid. He hadn’t stopped them. He hadn’t even tried.
“I want to get back at you.” She was being childish, letting her emotions get the best of her and lashing out at him because he was here and they weren’t. At first she kept the bracelet on because convincing the Ark they were all dead hadn’t seemed like a good idea. But now? Now, she would refuse to take it off just to spite him.
Leiana turned to glare up at him, tears still falling without remorse. She slapped the palm of her now free hand against his arm while trying to remove herself from his grasp once again. “You want me to take the damn thing off? You want me to keep my mouth shut and not tell the others what you did? Then you better make it worth my while...”

whatever THE HELL WE WANT Bellamy listened as she accused him, saying that he had helped them. He couldn't regret his time in the guard. It had been the best opportunity for his family. The hope of gaining insight to surprise inspections so that his mother didn't have to find her own . . . methods, involving Grus. "I did what I had to do. We all did." To survive. They had to survive up there, just like they needed to survive down here.
Only the way they could do that was obviously drastically different. His expression remained stoic, seemingly unphased by her words of wanting to get back at him. "Then you're an idiot. Cause you're blaming the wrong damn person." Blunt words, continuing the wall he had to keep up. The only way to protect himself; protect his sister. He had been doing it for so long, he wasn't sure how to crumble down that barrier that he kept around him. Blunt statements such as this certainly enbaled it to remain.
When she went on to say that he had better make it worth her while, he shoved her hand out of his grasp. "Do whatever the hell you want." A statement that had become a bit of a catchphrase to rally the masses. "But let's see how long you last down here. You wanna survive? Start making smart decisions." Which included joining the majority; embracing a life of true freedom.
"Or just stay a prisoner for the rest of your life. However long that'll be." The Ark had condemned them all to die once . . . they did the same thing by sending them down here. He was confident enough that he could keep the support of most people . . . but hell, getting one more person to take off their bracelet would certainly help keep making the point he was trying to get accross.

Drop his name, push it in and twist the knife again. Watch my face as I pretend to feel no pain. His words only caused more anger, had her biting at the bit to slap him across the face. It was like an irrational conflagration, one that had built without warning and threatened to burn out just as quickly. The tears still fell in a ceaseless river flow but the anger seemed to fade away until all that remained was the hurt. He had done what he had to do. The words disgusted her but silently she understood why he said them.
They all did what needed to be done to ensure their own survival. Had their roles been reversed then it was likely she would have done just the same. Perhaps the reason it bothered her so much, the reason it hurt so much was because he had no apologies to give, showed no remorse. . .he just didn’t seem to care.
Leiana stumbled as he shoved her hand from him, no doubt irritated and annoyed by how she tried to manipulate him. He was right, however. She needed to make smart decisions. Starting with finding out how much removing that bracelet was worth to him. She drew in a shuddering breath, forcing herself to calm down enough to not look like a blubbering mess. Now was not the time to break down. That should have been reserved for someone more private.
Small fists rubbed the tears from her eyes roughly before she looked up at him once more. There were words playing on her tongue, begging to be spoken; a smart aleck remark about how she would be his prisoner if she took it off but she held them back. She swallowed hard, trying to dislodge the lump of emotions that had made itself at home in her throat. “I can twist our story into your favour, Bellamy. I can make you out to be the saint instead of the villain. I can make them adore you more than already do.”
He had the masses fired up and riled up. And with Wells playing Chancellor junior here on the ground, all it would take was a few well-spoken lies to sway more of them to Bellamys cause. Leiana was certain that he could benefit from having her on his side. “You saved me, don't you remember? They were going to float me after I attacked that guard." Leiana wondered only for a moment if it had been him or one of the others on the receiving end of her knife. That was a detail she just couldn't seem to recall.
"You convinced them not to. The Sky Box was a more fitting place, you said. You had them believing that locking me away was an act of punishment, that I would be alone and miserable but really you saved my life." Was it a believable lie? Was it enough to twist his arm? She hoped it was.
"So. . .what is the bracelet worth to you? Would you rather them think you helped sentence a terrified girl to imprisonment or that you saved her from a horrible death?"
