DON'T UNDERESTIMATE THE LIONESS | SHE HUNTS AND SHE NURTURES; SHE IS THE HEART OF THE PRIDE | TAGGED @kiawah
| Savannah had not exactly been avoiding Kiawah, but she didn’t go out of her way to spend time with her hostage husband. Well that was a major exaggeration. Honestly, Kiawah was one of her closest friends and she didn’t regret the marriage at all, but as days rolled by pressure to address the issue of consummating the arrangement became that much heavier. The sooner they did it, the sooner they would be able to produce heirs—but that didn’t make it sexier. The entire arrangement was business rather than pleasure, making it awkward to approach between friends. She wasn’t avoiding him; but... the topic of intercourse was something she’d been trying to figure out. She had ideas... mostly drawn from sleepless, alcohol driven nights with multiple partners of varying sexualities... Though producing an heir required a little more thought than mindless sex with multiples...
“Yes!” she exclaimed as she spun on her heel, ironically pulled from her train of thought. “I have... nothing but time,” her teeth were a bit tense as she grinned at him. Normally she’d be swamped, but she was in the middle of training a handful of younger healers in the morning. They weren’t her, but she thought numbers would help balance the scales. Other than that she really didn’t have much to do in the mansion. “Did you.... need something?” He seemed nervous—more than usual at least. The awkward tone never really left their relationship. Had his thoughts been in the same.... spot? “Oh—do you want to talk privately?” she wasn’t sure what she was supposed to do; seduce him? That seemed so strange she couldn’t help the laugh she had to fight down. They were mature adults. They were capable of discussing this... yet all Sav wanted to do was tell jokes and awkwardly slip away. She could be seductive; but this weren’t exactly.... regular circumstances. |

DON'T UNDERESTIMATE THE LIONESS | SHE HUNTS AND SHE NURTURES; SHE IS THE HEART OF THE PRIDE | TAGGED
| His words made Savannah's chest tighten; whatever circumstances drove him here left him without will to live. If it was death he wanted, suicide would have been much easier. It would have been quicker and more merciful than travelling so far, but judging by his reluctance to accept aid she didn't believe he felt he deserved mercy. His will to die wasn't what pained her, but instead his protests against aid. One who didn't deserve mercy certainly didn't deserve a strangers help. "Would your people leave you to die?" she asked somewhat rhetorically as she gestured for one of the men to bring a leather sled meant for dragging large prey over terrain. It wasn't a cart, but with it they would sooner have the Skaikru man back to the village. "I wouldn't leave one of my people-- even if they begged me to." she never did; not even in the thickest of fights. "If you wanted to die like this; you walked in the wrong direction."
Despite the coalition, she knew the ferocity of the northern clans. Though Yujleda was fearless in battle, she was proud that her clan allowed her to avoid killing those who could not defend themselves. There was no honor in that. Some didn't care much for honor at all and would kill Skaikru for simply stepping into their territory. Even some from Yujleda would do such a thing... Not when she was around though. "I'd say don't fight us but... such a thing takes energy that you don't seem to have." she wasn't smug by any means, but the small smirk was still there. Carefully she pulled him onto the sled and pulled a tight belt over his chest to secure him. "What are you called?" she asked as she tightened the belt. "My name is Savannah... We are the Broadleaf Clan. You're very far from home..." She wondered if he had been searching for the desert... A place to die in. "Why have you come all this way?" She walked beside him and looped the waterskin around his neck, hanging by a thin rope for when he needed it. |

DON'T UNDERESTIMATE THE LIONESS | SHE HUNTS AND SHE NURTURES; SHE IS THE HEART OF THE PRIDE | TAGGED
| It was humid, as it always was in Yujleda territory. Only a mile from Arlest, Savannah and a group of four others decided to leave for a hunt. The days had been long, the seas filled to the brim with fish while their home had gone without conflict for so long... it wasn’t uncommon for hunting parties to take advantage of such times. Savannah was looking forward to leaving her home... She never did well staying in one place too long. If you ignored the flies, being outdoors in the thick of the trees and flora was actually rather relaxing. At least, it was at first. “Hod op! Sis au disha hef!” the call for help wasn’t far. Only a few yards... Savannah made her way over, assuming she would find a straggler from Arlest or a neighbouring village, but instead there was a stranger with a dark blue jacket and dust stained skin. His hair was matted while sweat and sand was caked onto his skin. He wasn’t Yujleda, but he wasn’t from any neighbouring clans either. 500 miles north, Skaikru was situated. They’d never seen them this far... The man who called for help pulled out a knife, as if noticing this the same moment that Savannah did.
“Hod op,” she hissed as she grabbed his wrist. The man was barely alive. She wouldn’t let him be executed when he couldn’t even stand. “Put your blade away. We have no quarrel with him.” Or any Skaikru in her silent opinion. She knew she wasn’t the only one who felt that way. They destroyed the mountain. It was their late Heda who turned away from the alliance; not Yujleda and not Skaikru. She leaned down and pushed his hair back enough to check his eyes for any response. As she pulled back the lid the pupils narrowed immediately. He was responsive—probably awake without energy. She shifted him; rolling him onto his back so that she could pull him up by the torso and drag him towards a tree to rest against. She had help from those she had come with... but they were silent with worry. Slowly she pressed the lip of her waterskin against his lips, hoping that it would stir him. He’d come far... she wasn’t sure why, but there wasn’t a lot of fresh water outside of the garden ponds, and those were farther south. “Drink, you need to drink...” she murmured some as she supported his jaw enough so that he wouldn’t fold in on himself.
“Go back to Arlest; get a horse and a cart,” she said in a rushed tone. She’d bring him back—until he was able to walk again at least. She didn’t know what on earth Skaikru was doing so far from their camp.

DON'T UNDERESTIMATE THE LIONESS | SHE HUNTS AND SHE NURTURES; SHE IS THE HEART OF THE PRIDE | TAGGED @kiawah
| She said nothing as he spoke; stumbling over his own tongue. She didn’t tease him, as every word, no matter how hesitantly it was delivered made her stomach drop further and further. Of course Savannah understood what he was getting at and she was shocked—not because she wouldn’t do it, but because she’d never thought of it. Kiawah’s responsibilities as Emperor were never exactly her concern, nor cause to keep her awake at night. She didn’t think that him being uninterested by the thought of bedding women would be an issue, as it wasn’t among their people, but unlike other clans he did need an heir to carry on the legacy. As was tradition. She stared vacantly, through Kiawah while he finished, though when he spoke of purchasing her services her eyes snapped back to his to pay closer attention. As he went on to tell her that he was asking her as a friend, not as a subject, she took the jug of wine and filled her glass further to the brim before taking a long and uninterrupted drink—seeing the glass to the end before setting it down and staring at it for a very long moment.
“If we were still children I’d think you to be joking,” she said after a moment before once again filling her glass. She had nothing to lose, no commitments to anyone other than her clan. She fucked who she wanted, man or woman and she did what she pleased within her orders. She’d never thought herself a mother—ever. Nor a breeding tool, but that was not what Kiawah intended. “It’d be funny,” she said with a dry chuckle before taking another shorter drink. “I don’t know how to feel about this,” she didn’t feel that she would be the right person for it, but at the same time she understood it completely. Who better than to marry if all he needed was a mother to his children? She had no sexual expectations, or wishes for intimacy that would conflict with his desires, or lack thereof.
“The real joke is the idea of me as a mother,” she said with another dry laugh as she swirled the wine around the walls of the glass and watched it intently. “Or the idea of you and I somehow consummating such a thing,” she smirked a bit at the ridiculousness of that image before resting her chin in her palms and looking up at him with reddened cheeks and a crooked smile. “This isn’t how I imagined I’d be proposed to.” She didn’t imagine that at all like some girls. She was far too feral to be tamed and bound to a single person. Living in a mansion also didn’t appeal to her as much as it would some women. “I’ll have to train someone to replace me, at least temporarily in the field.” She knew that being Empress would mean giving up quite a bit—especially when carrying a child.
“I’ll do it,” she mused a little, her voice quiet as she crossed her arms now. “What does Vero make of all this?”

DON'T UNDERESTIMATE THE LIONESS | SHE HUNTS AND SHE NURTURES; SHE IS THE HEART OF THE PRIDE | TAGGED @kiawah
| "Wine?" Savannah chuckled as she followed closely and only hesitated briefly before sitting down in the chair that he had pulled out for her. Her eyes lifted to watch him though they were narrowed with suspicion. More now than before. "Kia- Emperor," she corrected herself with a small smile and a laugh that escaped as a sigh. "You're acting like a boy asking something of a romantic nature... We both know well that's not what you want from me so please don't be so tense..." She rested her elbows on the table and supported her chin with with her clasped hands. Her tone was rather playful, though her hint of suspicion still held onto each word. He really was acting in such a way, which was something that Savannah had never witnessed for herself in all the years that they had known each other. Whatever he requested, she knew that she wouldn't decline it- not because he was her Emperor but because he was her friend. A dear friend...
"You might benefit from a good couple gulps of something stronger than wine," she remarked as she reached out to pour herself a glass. It'd been a long time since they had drank together as well. Too long. She always hated that his position meant that the relationship that they had needed to change. Moments still came with slip ups, especially if they disagreed but still. She longed for a time when they were younger. She missed her friend... "Too long..." she agreed as she lightly turned her glass and watched the red lick the sides. "So out with it," her gaze lifted and fell on him with determination now. No more games... She needed to know what he needed of her. Or... wanted to ask of her. There was nothing she could think of that she wouldn't do for Kiawah... Nothing that she could think of that he would ask of her at least. "What is this request you're too embarrassed to ask of me?" |

DON'T UNDERESTIMATE THE LIONESS | SHE HUNTS AND SHE NURTURES; SHE IS THE HEART OF THE PRIDE | TAGGED
| Savannah smiled with a predatory gaze upon Cara as she gulped down wine like a fish missing water in its gills. Such speed would surely hit her hard enough before the fight was over; which was a fact Sav wasn't about to forget. She'd be there when the room started to spin. Not many things surprised her, even though Cara literally yanked out a page in Savannah's book of techniques and jammed it down her throat with a violent thrust. She gasped as Cara collided with her and the two hit the ground far enough and hard enough to cause a stir. Savannah's snarl was interrupted with a drunken laugh. "And here I thought I was the impulsive one!" she yelled as she grabbed a fistful of Cara's hair and yanked her head back to get a hand around her throat. With a violent twist of her hips and legs she threw Cara off and stood up with her fists clenched and ready. "That was very unfair of you Cara I'm soo disappointed!"
The room was spinning violently; twisting and turning as Savannah stood. The ground was much more forgiving, but her eyes never left Cara. The warrior had been fighting with Savannah too long to fall for tricks such as the joken shit she pulled, but that didn't matter to Sav. The unfair fighting tactics that would see her disciplined in training pits were perfect for moments like these. She lunged at her hard enough that it threw them both back towards the men. They knocked over tables and sent empty bottles crashing to the floor. She delivered a punch; hitting her in the jaw, though she left herself a little too open to retaliation. "I say Vero takes the winner," she growled a little with a smirk. "Prove lack of size is an advantage," she made a move to grab her wrist in an attempt to pin her down along with the knee against her stomach. The wine made her unsteady, but her mind dared not notice where her body was failing her. "Isn't that right Kia!" |

DON'T UNDERESTIMATE THE LIONESS | SHE HUNTS AND SHE NURTURES; SHE IS THE HEART OF THE PRIDE | TAGGED @vero
| Shadow Valley was Yujleda's greatest source of conflict; with harsh warriors right on their borders, fights were common even under the coalition- or the attempt of one. Savannah was used to being camped out near the border, but the boredom of waiting for something to happen was downright crippling. They had attacked a village nearby, so the warriors were here for when they returned with strict orders not to cross into their land. They were defending... but that was incredibly boring... She leaned against one of the thick based trees and slipped an apple out of her pack with eyes wandering over who she had fighting by her side. Most of the warriors were from nearby villages and she didn't know them... but she saw Vero. He was a close friend and would no doubt make the minutes pass quicker. She wandered over to him and took out another apple from her pack before holding it out as offering. "Are you as bored as I am? I say we slip away," she teased as she leaned against a nearby tree. They were rather far from the other posts but one of the closer men made her snicker. He was downright asleep against a tree trunk. "I see he's got the right idea," she mused moments before her peripheral vision caught movement.
Her lips drew back in a hiss as she turned and made eye contact with an armed scout on his own, hiding out in one of the trees that was hardly covering him. He was far; well past the border, but close enough that Savannah was sure she could catch him. Against orders, she took off like an animal and dropped her pack and apple where she stood. Of course she expected Vero to follow... She could take on a scout by herself, but she doubted her friend would allow her to venture into enemy territory without aid. She wasn't worried and only thought of catching the scout; questioning him and seeing what their plans of attack were. What had he seen? She didn't think he'd have any friends nearby. Her feet moved light and fast across the rough terrain and as she drew closer she pulled out her daggers. Her breaths were animalistic with her teeth bared; more like a creature than a warrior. Finally within reach, she threw one of her knives with deadly percision; landing it in the scouts calf.
"I'll rip your fucking heart out!" she snarled as she reached down to grab the scout by his collar. Before she could touch him, a knife was pressed against her throat from behind. Her hair was tugged back, exposing more of her neck for slicing. When she actually took a moment, she realized there were eight men. She'd never wished Vero was on her heels more than ever. "Jok of!" she snarled as she slammed her elbow into the enemy behind her. With a quick movement, she slit their throat and searched the woods for Vero. |

DON'T UNDERESTIMATE THE LIONESS | SHE HUNTS AND SHE NURTURES; SHE IS THE HEART OF THE PRIDE | TAGGED @vero & @kiawah Note: Oops!! Sorry!! Totally had this bookmarked but I forgot about it! XD Good on you Vero making a tracker! | The fighting was chaotic; something that fed Savannah's inner fire like kindle. She never stayed in one place. She never stayed in formation unless directly commanded otherwise. When she ran onto the field of blood she was not looking out for Kiawah or even Vero. They were more than capable of doing that themselves. No; her only focus were the daggers she held tightly in her hands, and their hunger for blood. She ran past Kiawah like an animal charging forward and made quick work of those who stood in her way. She ducked and dodged; slashed at everything she could, and eventually she got too far from Kiawah to hear his yelp of pain above the roar of battle.
She heard Vero's second, desperate call to her and turned to find where the call was coming from. As she did, she was punched by the opponent she fought and hit the ground hard enough to daze her. She'd seen him with Kiawah, but she didn't see the wound. Vero wasn't hurt-- from what she'd seen. "Bitch," she snarled as she stood and stabbed the warrior in the throat furiously. Doubling back wasn't as difficult as pressing forward, but she ran with purpose. "What happened!?" she called out as she approached them. She slowed as she saw where Vero was applying pressure and her face grew chilled. Depending on where the sword went, or arrow, it could have punctured his lung. Her eyes fell to his lips, scared of seeing blood. It ripped her from her feral, bloodthirsty thoughts as if awakening from a dream. No blood on his lips, yet.
"Kiawah can you breathe?" she asked as she moved to push Vero's hand aside just enough for her to check the width of the wound. The moment she did, blood poured. It was an ugly wound, but one she could close. She pressed her hand over Vero's once again, directing pressure. "Move," she murmured as she wrapped her arms under Kiawah's. They had to get him farther away from the fighting; towards the torches. She needed Vero's help, but adrenaline helped her focus. |

DON'T UNDERESTIMATE THE LIONESS | SHE HUNTS AND SHE NURTURES; SHE IS THE HEART OF THE PRIDE | TAGGED @kiawah
| Whatever Kiawah was trying to do, he was failing at it. Savannah wanted to give him a shove; demand to know what was going on as she would have years ago. If this was flirting, which she highly doubted for many, many reasons, it was awful. His informal nature was also confusing rather than troubling and it took everything in Savannah's power to bite her tongue. "No-- I don't have more pressing matters, nor do I want to leave," whatever he needed her for it was important and just as she grew more and more confused, her concern also rose. She had a million questions dancing on the tip of her tongue and clawing at her clenched jaw and shut lips but she didn't let them break free just yet. She cared for Kiawah. He was one of her most trusted and closest friends... yet she knew that if something were wrong it wouldn't be her who he went to. Even before the City of Light she knew that Kiawah was closer to Vero than Sav could ever really be. What she'd assumed was a bond between General and Emperor was clearly much more. So why did he ask her here? Surely if he were in trouble...
"I'm worried," she admitted with narrowed eyes. "We haven't... been together as friends in a very long time. I have to assume that there is something on your mind to arrange such a meeting," She chose her words carefully as she walked with him towards the dining room. "Are you well? I have been away from the village... I haven't been able to check in on you," her head tilted and she smiled lightly at him; an encouraging look in her eyes. "Vero's healing up nicely... Though I've found that the worst injuries inflicted by that damned chip were of a psychological nature rather than physical." She couldn't help frowning at the thought. It was a frustrating thing; an injury that couldn't be stitched up. "I press you, not out of impatience or ill will, but more out of concern and curiosity. I just want to know why I'm here..." |

DON'T UNDERESTIMATE THE LIONESS | SHE HUNTS AND SHE NURTURES; SHE IS THE HEART OF THE PRIDE | TAGGED @kiawah
| Savannah didn't often have private moments with Kiawah. Since he'd become Emperor, their relationship shifted. It was natural to do so... but still, when Savannah recieved an invitation to join him for dinner she became very confused. She would never refuse such a thing, but that didn't mean she wasn't anxious about the reason. After everything that had happened in Polis and to her people, she'd been so busy rehabilitating warriors and even civilians. The chip's influence had infected other villages that required her to travel. So many people suffered torture and mental scars that Savannah couldn't heal. Perhaps the invitation was more related to buisness. It could have been to discuss the clan's recovery... Though why wouldn't the letter just say so? Savannah didn't play games. Neither did Kiawah... Out of respect, she'd shed her armor and dressed herself in more formal robes that belonged to her mother. She wondered if Vero would be joining them... but again, the letter was such a strange way to go about things.
She made her way to the mansion and looked over the ruins of the garden. It was beautiful; wild growth and care making the home seem like it had grown from the ground itself. It was so strange that it had survived for so many years. Slowly she walked up to the doors and as they opened, she bowed her head lightly in Kiawah's direction. His words made her brow furrow with confusion though. "Just us?" she murmured as she walked with him. "Restful enough... Though... Your invitation came as a surprise," she couldn't help a small chuckle under her breath as she looked around at the walls. It had been a long time since she'd been within them. "I assumed that it was about the City of Light, but... a vague invitation is hardly required for that."
She paused to look at him intently, knowing that something was on his mind. She just didn't know what. "Whatever you have invited me here for, you can tell me without pleasantries. You're my Emperor. You don't have to stall with dinner invitations." Vero's absence only told her that this was serious and between them. She'd seen how close they were... Vero wouldn't be absent from a dinner. He was Savannah's closest friend and Kiawah clearly adored him in many ways. There was no reason for him to be absent from a casual dinner. |

DON'T UNDERESTIMATE THE LIONESS | SHE HUNTS AND SHE NURTURES; SHE IS THE HEART OF THE PRIDE | TAGGED @kiawah - @vero @cara - Aro
| Savannah sat, already full of wine with her arm resting on Vero's shoulder as they watched Miamee and Laxia fighting. It was entertaining; a way to unwind after the fighting was done. They had lost three in an attack of exiles seeking to claim lands to call home. The wastelands and the deserts were impossible to survive in, so it wasn't uncommon for them to venture east towards the bountiful seas. Fish, woods, weapons and armor were luxuries that were frequently sought after, but nobody would invade their lands without a fight. Still, they had lost three of their warriors and a villager was burnt beyond recognition moments before the fighting started. The screaming was difficult to purge from Savannah's mind so she drank. Heavily. Miamee took a harsh blow and Sav snorted with laughter. "I could take them both-- and you while I'm at it!" she grinned as she grabbed Vero's shoulder. She was jesting of course but that didn't mean it couldn't be fun to try.
As Cara wandered over, Sav saw only more wine where her cup had dried up. She smirked, even as Cara squeezed her way onto the bench. Savannah threw her arm around the warrior and wrapped it around her neck tightly as it rested around her shoulders. She grabbed the bottle and kept her grasp tight. "We were just watching the games," she said with a teeth bearing smirk. They clashed together; biting at the air, close to Cara as she pressed the bottle back into her hands after filling her cup. "I wonder Cara are you brave enough to fight me?" a teasing grin played across her features with an almost predatory gaze. She stood up, spilling her cup of wine on both Vero and Cara accidentally. She giggled a little, expecting a curse from Vero. She grinned at Kiawah, knowing that he probably would end up having to calm down the situation-- as usual. "I THINK WE SHOULD PLACE BETS! WHO WOULD WIN! CARA OR MYSELF!" she called out, head spinning. She was still confident. "We need a judge," her gaze fell to Kiawah. "Kia!" |

DON'T UNDERESTIMATE THE LIONESS | SHE HUNTS AND SHE NURTURES; SHE IS THE HEART OF THE PRIDE | TAGGED @kiawah
| Training with the others was something that Savannah enjoyed. Her father was harsh and critical, while her mother took up too much of her time teaching her how to stitch up a cut or how to brew herbal teas. She was a warrior! Or else, she would be. Fighting with others that were her age boosted her ego much more than getting beaten up constantly in spars against her father. She wanted to be here. When she was paired up with Kiawah, she couldn’t help but smirk. She had nothing against him—nothing at all. Yet, she was kind of a notorious jerk among her peers. She was cocky, guilty of showmanship and feral. It’d earned her a reputation and a couple good slaps.
“Finally they pair me up with somebody my size,” she teased as she drew her practice spear close. The others had started to fight, but she wanted her new partner to swing first.
“Do you really want to be here or is your mum making you do it?” she cocked her head curiously with her playful, teasing smirk still in place. She was taunting him just a little. Though she did wonder if that was the only reason he was here. He didn’t seem hungry for blood. Perhaps they’d be better off switching places. She’d trade for a mother who supported a warriors life. Kiawah seemed more like the healer type anyway. She stalked him; circling him like a lioness—or else more like a cub, poking and prodding—desperate to play fight. She should have taken it all more seriously but she was more interested in getting a rise out of the runt of the litter.

DON'T UNDERESTIMATE THE LIONESS | SHE HUNTS AND SHE NURTURES; SHE IS THE HEART OF THE PRIDE | TAGGED @vero
| As he threw the drink so violently, Sav’s chest swelled with anger. She didn’t flinch when it shattered, but Uzac did stir. “Mind yourself,” she said firmly as she turned to tend to him in case he awoke to such a state. She was furious; her fists tight enough that her knuckles were white as they strained. Awakening Uzac now would only further worsen his condition with confusion and resist. “Reign in your anger and save it for when we tear the bitch’s head from her pathetic, cowardly little body.” She’d heard what the bitch did; how she had killed the children in their sleep and presented a boy’s head as though it were a trophy. She did not follow tradition or give anyone a chance in hell to stand against her... it made her worse than Lexa in every way.
“This child treats her allies worse than Lexa did,” which wasn’t saying much. The former Heda kicked an ambassador from the tower simply for disagreeing. Azgeda had a hostile history with her; that didn’t make it right, but it made it more predictable from a child lashing out. Ontari was poison; a snake that had to be dispatched. “I hope that strategy does not mean silently waiting for an opportunity to strike,” the warrior in her burned at the thought of marching on Polis... Yujleda had strong warriors and stronger spirits. Two of the Natblidas killed by Ontari were Yujleda.. They had more than enough passion to drive such an attack.
“Give me that kit; and don’t take your anger out on it or you’ll be scrubbing my floor,” she muttered as she gestured towards a box of vials. She needed to put Uzac into a deeper rest. “I know you’re angry... But right now we need Uzac to recover... So calm yourself and help,”

DON'T UNDERESTIMATE THE LIONESS | SHE HUNTS AND SHE NURTURES; SHE IS THE HEART OF THE PRIDE | TAGGED @kiawah & @vero
| Savannah’s eyes were on Vero’s; watching as the haze of bloodloss and emotion caused him to drift. She tied chords tight around his arms, above his wrists to stop the blood from flowing faster than she could handle it. With no flames close by she could not safely cauterize the wounds but she feared that she would need to if they didn’t respond to alternative methods. The only thing bringing him back from his drifts seemed to be Kiawah. Mention of him calmed him enough to allow Savannah to work, which she did—quickly. She tied cleaned the deep holes; taking out splinters from the ugly wounds. He was crucified. She looked up at the others; the dead bodies atop the crosses. They were in a pit of death and dismay—a healer’s nightmare. Too many bodies, too many injuries, so many that couldn’t be saved. All she could do was focus on her brothers in arms—her Emperor and her friend. “Chipped? No... Maybe—I don’t know,” she was sure that the earlier wave of Yujleda warriors had suffered a similar fate.
“When we got here, the fighting ended quickly... before everyone began waking up,” it was the only way she could describe it. She pressed her teeth together firmly as she held his wrists tightly. As she wrapped them in a thick cloth, she pressed the cloth into the wound along with some medicinal herbs to help slow the bleeding. She tugged the tight chords off his arms and held his hands for a moment with eyes intent on Vero. “If you die on me I’ll pull you back from the light and kill you myself.” Kinder words may have been appropriate but she’d used up most of her gentle ‘bedside manner’. She took Kiawah’s hands and checked them for breaks with her teeth bared in a feral grimace. “Who did this. Who caused this?” her voice was dripping with fury; ready to slaughter anyone who was involved with hurting her people so severely. “Who did this to Vero?” she didn’t understand. She didn’t understand how a ‘dream’ could turn men into such beasts. She wanted justice...
She had never seen Vero defeated. She’d never seen Kiawah with such a heavy look of regret... They had to do something. Anything... She worked fast on Kiawah’s hands and pressed cloth soaked in herbal water and alcohol against the wounds to clean the dust, dirt and stone from them without warning of it causing pain. In this filth she needed to be thorough.
