Theo smiled as he remembered first seeing the piano in the dining hall. His joy at spotting the instrument had only come second to seeing the food spread out on the tables in front of his and his friend. While he'd filled his stomach with the delicious treats, tasting and smelling things he never had before, his eyes had kept wandering to the black and white keys, his fingers itching to touch them. It had taken him some courage, but he'd finally dared to ask if he could play the piano and the answer had been more than positive. The Mountain Man he'd asked had been as astonished as Isaiah to hear that he posessed this skill, apparently their people had thought they hadn't posessed such luxuries in space which was understandable when Theo came to think of it. The sound of the instrument couldn't be compare to the one he'd had at his disposal back home. His people had done everything they could to preserve the piano, but they weren't quite sure how to treat it and space didn't seem to be the right environment for such a delicate device. The Mountain Men's piano was well oiled and polished, almost looking like new. The state of the instrument combined with the fact that the dining hall with its high ceiling and stone walls was the perfect environment for any sound to unfold, the sound Theo coaxed from the piano were more wonderful than anything he'd heard before and most of his fellow Delinquants seemed as much in awe as himself. „Well the fact that this piano hasn't just been kept in a case for the better part of a century sure helps!“, Theo said with a grin as he kept stroking Isaiah's hand which had become almost a normal thing to do by now. He wouldn't even have noticed that he was doing it anymore if he didn't still feel all those sparks going through his body as the touch left a tingle on his skin.
„Any holiday of ours will be put to shame by yours, I'm sure!“, he said with a laugh as he thought about what these people dish up even on a normal day. The Arker's celebrational feast paled even against the Mountain Men's most basic meals so there wasn't really much comparison in that department. Theo's grin fell and was replaced by a look of astonishment when Isaiah raised his hand to his cheek. The touch of his hand was so soft and so close to his lips that the boy almost started to hope that the other guy was going to kiss him, which left him feeling a little disappointed when he let his hand sink again. When the initial shock was gone, Theo smiled back at the darker boy again, his cheeks yet again pink from blushing. Theo wished Isaiah had kept his hand on his cheek, more so that he would have used both of his hands to cup his face in them and press their lips together. But Theo knew that was too much to ask for, Isaiah probably didn't want to kiss him anyway so he would be satisfied with the gentle touch they were sharing. „That's more than okay!“, Theo answered with a smile as Isaiah apologized for stroking his cheek, which was still burning from the soft touch. Maybe his words would let the guy know that what he was doing was everything that Theo wanted.

Sitting on his cot in the Arker's dormitory, Theo was wringing his hands nervously before someone shoved a steel pipe into his hands as a form of weapon. His days of bliss had very suddenly turned into a nightmare with no apparent way to wake up from it. This place had once been a dream of a sanctuary with running water, plenty of food to go around and a warm bed to sleep things, some of which he'd experienced for the first time in his whole life and a paradise after those harsh first months on Earth. Life inside the mountain became perfect when he met the man he would come to love and for a while it seemed like it couldn't get any better.
He couldn't remember when things started to turn, not exactly. There were those of the Delinquants that had been sceptic about their so called saviors from the very beginning, never settling into their new home. Most of the others had at least suspected they had an agenda long before Theo had doubted them himself, probably because he was wearing rose-colored glasses since one of them was his boyfriend. It had been quite a shock to the boy when he learned what the Mountain Men were really up to. His hands were shaking as he was holding on tight to the pipe in his hands, his knuckles turning white. Everyone around him was clutching weapons, discussing how to keep the guards from taking any of them. Many of the Delinquants were ready to fight, his two best friends being among them of course, but there were those, who like him were just scared and nervous. Theo wished Isaiah was there with him and he couldn't quite accept that he might never see him again.

Theo wasn't sure why she'd want to bother with a kid she didn't even know, but he was sure it would be an advantage to have her on his dide. The problem was the biggest when those bullies got him alone. Fortunately, he spent most of his time with Ruby and Cameron and they would protect him from anyone who dared make a nasty comment. Plus he felt much more confident when he wasn't alone and found it less hard to speak up because his friends encouraged him to stand up for himself. Having another ally in the form of Larkin meant more support and less opportunity for the bullies to catch him alone, so it could only be an advantage.
„That would be so kind of you. I always freeze up when they attack me on my own, I only come up with good answers once they're gone.“, he explained with an annoyed sigh but then smiled back at her again. „Yes, I'm still a student and unfrotunately so are they.“, he continued and rolled his eyes.

Theo was surprised that Isaiah seemed so impressed by the information that he had learned how to play the piano. He'd thought that what with having such a fine instrument right in the middle of the dining hall with the chance of playing it whenever you wanted to, many Mountain Men would have that skill. „Yeah, we had this one piano that I was only allowed to play for like an hour hour every other day. They were really strict about it, but I made the most of the time I had. I haven't played in a while though, so don't expect any masterpieces.“, he warned him with a shy chuckle. He really couldn't have been happier when he'd first seen the beautiful piece of craftsmanship standing in the middle of the big hall they'd been led to. Before that moment, it had been months since he'd gotten the chance to touch a set of those black and white keys. So after he'd filled his stomach with the luxurious feast set before him and his friends, he hadn't wasted any more time to get his hands on the instrument. He'd usually always been very self-conscious whenever he'd played a song back on the Ark, but being given the opportunity to make music after such a long time of being deprived of it, he didn't care who listened.
Theo couldn't help but chuckle at the confusion on Isaiah's face and in his voice. Moments like these reminded him how different both of their respective societies were from one another. He wasn't sure if they had other holidays that they shared but it was only logical that the Mountain Men didn't celebrate Unity Day. „On Unity Day, we celebrate the day the 12 stations decided to unite and form the Ark. Before that day, they were just separate stations.“, he explained with a happy smile as he remembered him and his friends always having a laugh during the festivities. „It really is our biggest holiday and everyone always made an effort to have enough food for everyone. Sometimes, we even had cake.“, he said, before realizing that Isaiah probably wouldn't be as impressed by that statement since they always had cake inside the mountain. Theo leaned against the edge of his seat again as he could feel the electricity between his and Isaiah's hand as they were both stroking the other's skin with their thumbs as if they were performing this little dance they'd choreographed together.

Another warm smile flashed over Theo's face as he felt Isaiah's thumb imitate the gesture his own had performed just moments before. The Arker realized that they could actually appear like a couple if someone spotted them. Holding hands and stroking each others skin could seem very intimate and it did feel like it as well, but somehow Theo still had a feeling that this was right allthough Isaiah was still practically a stranger to him. Ruby would probably tell him how crazy he was, pining over a boy he'd only met about an hour ago. He was still a bit nervous about maybe overstepping the other guy's bounderies, but since he was also caressing his hand, there was apparently no reason for him to worry.
Theo did feel excited about their approaching date and about hearing real music after not having been able to listen to any real instruments being played for such a long time. On the other hand, he didn't want this moment they were sharing to end. Sitting here holding hands and just talking and getting to know each other felt so exhalarating that he wished he could stop time and just to stay like this. So far in his young life, the boy had rarely experienced moments like this one that he wished could just stretch on for hours. He could think of many situations that he would have liked to skip and erase from his memory, so it was a nice change to feel this way.
It was still a strange experience to meet people he'd never seen before in his life since he'd only ever been around Arkers whom he'd all seen regularly. Even if he hadn't actually known each and every person on the Ark, he would at least see them pass by and know their faces. It still felt scary and exciting at the same time to get to know people who had a completely different background to his and had experienced things that were foreign to him. Theo scratched his head with his free hand when Isaiah asked him about the music back on the Ark. „It was more of a luxury. There was a piano, which I would play whenever I could.“, he said with a smile and thought back to when he first discovered the piano inside the mountain and how happy he'd been to find out that he was allowed to play it whenever he wanted. „We had a few instruments up on the Ark that were taken from Earth when our people first left it. They were in these sort of protection cases and only taken out for celebrations like Unity Day.“, he explained, remembering how excited everyone had always been whenever they'd been allowed to listen to music and how much more relaxed everyone had seemed during those rare moments.

Although his confidence grew with each of Isaiah's heart warming smiles, Theo had still feared that the movement of his thumb might be too much for the young man and he would shake his hand off. His heart performed a little dance when the Mountain Man didn't break the touch. The whole situation still felt surreal – one minute he was just trying to ger a little space from the people he'd spent the last couple of months of his life with and the next he was bang in the middle of what felt like a full blown flirt marathon. He was still getting used to this new way of life, not having to constantly look over his shoulder in fear of something or someone that could kill him. Being in a place where there was plenty enough for everyone to eat was even more unusual than living without having to fear for his life every minute of every hour because there had never been enough food around as long as he could remember.
Theo's breath caught in his throat for a moment when he noticed Isaiah inch closer to him, a warm wave rushing over him as he felt the boy's body heat collide with his own. „The Dorm? Oh...that Dorm! Uhm….yeah sure, I'm staying in the Dorm!“, he stammered, feeling flustered as they were now not only holding hands, but the other man's face was also significantly closer to his. He still remembered the room he'd been in in the beginning - an all white clinical cell where he'd been all alone and frightened, not knowing what was going on. It was such a relief to see Cameron and Ruby and all the others again, but now the dorm they were all staying in together started to feel crowded and Theo yearned for some privacy which was why the library kind of felt like a sanctuary.
The Delinquent bit his bottom lip when he heard the words 'we can work out what's actually happenin'. He knew that Isaiah was only talking about the possible concert he'd mentioned earlier, but the Arker couldn't help but think about what was actually happening between the two of them and interpret the sentence accordingly. He was trying not to let the excitement about that show on his face. He felt a bit stupid for already fantasizing about the two of them dating or maybe even being a couple. What was wrong with him, his thoughts made him seem like an obsessed stalker even to himself. The squeeze of Isaiah's hand brought him back from his ever worrying head and grounded him as another smile brightened his face. It grew even wider when the other confirmed that they were going on a date. He suddenly found himself getting nervous and thinking about what he should wear to the party. „Do you actually have musical instruments here?“, he then asked. Sure, he'd seen the piano in the dining hall but he couldn't be sure there were any other instruments being kept in the mountain. They'd only had two or three back on the Ark and they'd only been taken out of their sealed cases for special occasions so it had been a pretty big deal for Theo to see the piano just standing there in the middle of the room.

I'm pretty cruel to my characters so I'd like to do a thread in which Theo gets injured somehow, with lots of drama. It could be with another delinquent and Theo gets hurt by a Grounder or another Delinquent. It could also be in Mount Weather, in Arkadia or somewhere outside

Theo didn't really know what he could answer to his question. Why did he let does other kids bully him? Maybe it was just out of habit, he was just so used to being put down by the others who thought of him as weird. People often didn't like things that were different or unusual and they had different kind of ways to react to that. He just shrugged his shoulders in response though, not knowing how to put his thoughts into words.„They just always have a clever response when someone says something mean to me.“ , he explained with another shrug answering her question about his friends' protection. He was often so impressed, especially with Ruby's quick comebacks to their peer's insults. He could never just shake a clever response out of his sleeve. Even hours later, he'd still go over the conversation and only then, he would come up with a good answer, triumphing over his bullies inside his mind and wishing he could go back in time.„I'm sixteen.“ , he answered her last and easiest question. „What about you?“ , he asked and took a spoonfull of the porridge in front of him.

Somehow it seemed like the two of them had switched roles somewhere along their conversation, or maybe it was more accurate to call it flirting. At the beginning, Theo had felt like a nervous wreck and he'd had the impression that Isaiah had been quite confident with his words. Now the other boy kept blushing just like the Arker had done before, it just looked all the more beautiful on Isaiah's darker skin tone, the colours just blending together instead of just being red blotches like they were on Theodore's cheeks. The boy felt torn, because he wanted the Mountain Man to feel comfortable and at ease around him, he knew how bad feeling embarrassed could be after all. On the other hand, the young man just looked so good with the soft red in his face that he didn't want it to go away.
In his mind, he just laughed at his two best friends who'd been teasing him for spending so much time surrounded by books, delbing into another world every other day. Now the joke was on them because he'd met someone more charming than he'd ever thought he would. When he'd first realized he was in no danger in this new place he and his friends had found themselves in, he'd just thought of the mountain as a safe haven where he could actually survive. He would never even have considered the possibility of meeting someone to flirt with much less someone he could dream of having a romance with.
The Arker felt like his heart grew to twice its size when Isaiah spoke his own thoughts, saying that the library seemed like even more fun now. He bit his bottom lip because he couldn't stop grinning happily, but the corners of his mouth were still as high up as they could go and he raised his hand to pinch his lips. A moment later, his chest was close to exploding to let his ballooning heart escape as he felt Isaiah give his hand a little squeeze. Had he dozed off while reading some kind of soppy romance novel and this was all just a sweet sweet dream? Or maybe he was even still reading and all of this was just a figment of his vivid imagination. This couldn't actually be happening, he'd never been this lucky before. The squeeze of the young man's fingers had given Theo yet another boost of confidence and he started softly brushing his thumb over the Mountain Man's skin. Isaiah's flirtatious answer made him want to wave his hand in front of his head to fan some fresh air into his face, but he just kept on grinning his goofy grin back at him.„It's a date then?“ , he asked boldly, raising his eyebrows questioningly.Tag: Isaiah Riggs

Theo leaned his head against the armchair on the corner closest to Isaiah and looked at him with a peaceful smile. He began blinking more rapidly as he started feeling sleepy. He'd been able to sleep more peacefully ever since coming to Mount Weather, feeling a lot safer than when he was still outside with the other Delinquents. But somehow he felt that he would have an even easier time getting some rest with Isaiah sitting next to him, as if he made him feel safe and protected. But the Arker didn't want to seem rude and just doze off while they were talking and holding hands, so he lifted his head back up even though he was reluctant to give up that comfortable position.
When he heard the shuffling of some feet and hushed voices, Theo's first instinct was to let go of Isaiah's hand. But he didn't want to come across as immature or as if he was ashamed of holding on to him and he caught himself quickly enough not to let his doubts be shown in his gestures. Isaiah's next words made him forget all about his insecurities anway, talking about how easy it was to find some fun in Mount Weather. Theo couldn't be sure, but he thought he detected a slight hint of flirtation in the young man's tone.„Yeah, some people wouldn't believe it, but I happen to think the library can be a very fun place!“ , he stated in a rather bold, almost teasing kind of voice.
The teenager had no idea where this air of confidence came from. Sure, he'd had his crushes back on the Ark, but he'd hardly ever been brave enough to them and whenever he'd found the courage to make that first step, he'd always felt awkward. Maybe it was easier to be bold around Isaiah because he didn't know him or his reputation for being strange and awkward. Theo could just be whoever he wanted to be around the boy because there was noone who was going to tell him that he was too strange to hang out with. Plus, his experiences on the outside had maybe toughened him up a little and encouraged him to make the most of each moment. „Were you planning on going?“ , he asked in regards of the concert, maybe sounding a little too nosy. It felt like an eternity since he'd been to a concert or any other kind of social gathering. Potentially going with this new friend of his was even more alluring than the event in itself.Tag: Isaiah Riggs

Theo had noticed that Isaiah's and his armchair were standing close enough together that both boys' arms were almost touching when they were both placed on their arm rests. While he listened to the other young man talk, he was also testing how far he had to stretch his fingers to 'accidentally' brush his skin. It had somehow felt like a rush when Isaiah had put his hand on his knee, like being pricked by a thousand needles or getting an electric shock, but in a good and exciting way. The Arker couldn't wait to feel his touch again, it felt as if he was an addict after his first fix.
Next thing, Theo caught himself just staring at Isaiah's lips as he was talking and worse, imagining how soft they were – what the hell was wrong with him? He should really be focusing on what the Mountain Man was saying and not be musing about how his mouth might feel on his. Wait, what? He seemed to be doing it again, but then he was distracted from those highly inappropriate speculations when he noticed how Isaiah seemed to take his turn in blushing and stammering nervously. Theo smiled and finally, he couldn't stand that tense electricity that he felt sparking between them anymore. He made his hand bridge the distance between them and made it rest casually on top of Isaiah's as he leaned towards him a little.„Sneaking around does sound like a lot of fun!“ , he said with a crooked smile, trying to help Isaiah relax a little as he knew what it felt like to be the one who got embarrassed. „The Ark could be a rather uptight place what with all the rules and laws. It could be quite hard to find some fun to do sometimes.“ , he added, his hand still resting on top of Isaiah's and now his fingers wrapped around the other's as well. It was such a good sensation to feel the warmth of his palm against his fingertips, that he didn't care if holding hands with a practical stranger might seem awkward, or at least for now he didn't mind what it could look like. After all, Isaiah had been the first to seek physical contact with him, so why shouldn't the Arker take his turn, but just be more bold this time and not break the touch so quickly?„Do you know if there are any concerts or parties planned at the moment?“ , he proceeded to ask casually, as if it was the most normal thing in the world that he'd entwined their hands with one another. He wasn't sure what the Mountain Men's standards for physical contact were, maybe this wasn't even a big deal at all. Theo guessed that he'd probably find out pretty soon if holding hands with a random guy was frowned upon in their society or not.Tag: Isaiah Riggs

Theo couldn't remember the last time he'd felt so abashed while talking to someone. Sure, he got embarrassed pretty quickly and he was never overly confident when being around someone other than his best friends, but this felt different than mere nervosity. He didn't really want to admit it, not even to himself but this strange sensation inside his stomach came suspiciously close to butterflies swirling around in there. Somehow, he appreciated the library even more now. Since he'd met a new possible friend here. He'd first discovered the room when he'd been in need of a break from the rest of the group. They'd huddled together after the initial shock of being released from their individual quarantine rooms, but once he'd been quite confident that the people who'd taken him and the others, Theo needed some space to himself. He'd traced the lined up backs of the alternating thick and thin tomes with his fingertips, feeling a fascination he'd never known before. Back on the Ark they'd mostly had scholastic books on practical things such as medicine or mechanics. He'd also never found the books back home to effuse such a pleasent smell of old paper that he'd come to appreciate more and more. Ever since getting lost in the world of the first book he'd opened in this room, he'd spent many hours sitting in the very same armchair he was lounging in now. Cameron and Ruby had started teasing him a little, calling him a bookworm, but he didn't care. Maybe it was because he needed to escape the real world now more than ever, after everything he'd been through that his passion for reading had been awoken. He could just drown himself in the words and pages and forget about the nightmares that haunted his sleep for a while. It was good to meet someone who seemed to understand the bower of stories and Theo found that he didn't seem able to wipe that goofy grin off his face anymore, but maybe it didn't matter that much anymore. If he'd learned anything over the last weeks, it was that life could be cut very short and that everyone should make the most of the the time they had. So maybe he could just let his guard down once in a while and show his true feelings without being ashamed. So why shouldn't Isaiah know, that the teen was happy to meet him? It wasn't a bad thing after all. Theo couldn't help a laugh escaping from his mouth as the dark-skinned young man offered to give him a fright so he might feel a bit less foreign inside the mountain. He clasped his hand around his mouth, muffling more laughs as he couldn't seem to stop and needed a while to recompose himself. It was a good feeling to be able to laugh this freely as he hadn't had many opportunities to be carefree since coming down to earth. What really shut him up was his heart skipping a beat when Isaiah placed his hand on his knee. His touch felt comforting, almost caring as he assured him that no harm would come to him at this new place that the other called home. The teenager was about to place his own hand on the other's when Isaiah reclaimed his limb, leaving Theo disappointed and already missing the warmth of his skin. The Arker leaned his head back with a nod and a smile as he brushed one hand over the velvety fabric of his chair's armrest. „Tell me about it! I've lost count of how many times I dozed off in this armchair!“, he replied with a chuckle and let out a yawn as if prompted by his statement. He shrugged his shoulders when Isaiah asked him about the sort of activities he usually enjoyed for amusement. „Well, our stay on earth hasn't really been about fun so far, but back on the Ark, I would mostly hang out with my two best friends, but I usually just follow their lead.“, he admitted, feeling another surge of embarrassement about revealing that he tended to play by everyone else's rules. But a second later he pushed that self-conscious thought to the back of his mind and gave Isaiah another one of his best smiles, dimples in his cheeks and his eyes squinting the way they always did when he smiled genuinely. „What sort of things do mountain kids do for fun?“, he asked with a cheeky grin and raised his eyebrows questioningly. Theo didn't know why his heart kept hammering inside his chest or why he couldn't wipe that stupid grin off his face. He pushed any strange thoughts that might be going through his mind to the back of his head and wrote it down to still being embarrassed about his earlier behavior when Isaiah first started talking to him. He was usually quite awkward when talking to people he didn't really know so that was all this was, at least that's what he told himself. He brushed his thumb softly over the pages of the closed book sitting on a small table right next to his armchair as he listened to the young man beside him, his chin still resting on top of his knees. He gave himself another mental kick when he caught himself thinking about how soothing the other man's voice sounded, but reasoned that any calm voice would sound comforting compared to the constant screams of warning and fear he'd heard daily just a short while ago. Still, he thought that he could really use that hole to swallow him up right about now. He had no idea why he was musing about such things and behaving this way, Isaiah must be finding him a very strange person indeed and he was surely wondering if all space people, as the mountain men seemed to call him and his friends, were this odd. He felt quite pathetic when he noticed the man's genuine bewilderment at his mention of the fact that he'd never been a big reader. He hugged his legs a little tighter, feeling a bit like a small child being praised by its parents for learningto write its first words. He'd never thought of himself as a very intelligent person, being unable to argue as vividly about serious topics as Ruby and Cameron would sometimes do. He was always too naive and gullible, his friends sometimes teased him about that. It wasn't like he was dumb, he just had a hard time speaking about his opinions or feelings, it was much easier for him to express them in his art – drawings or music, sometimes poems. Still, although it surely hadn't been his intention, Isaiah's reaction made him feel a little stupid and simple. He scratched his head a little uneasily but managed tio put a smile back on his face when the young man leaned forward to take his hand. He resisted the urge to hold on to his warm fingers for a little longer and his smile was more genuine again, his cheeks blushing once more. Theo nodded as the guy asked him whether he was one of the new people and he let out a shrug and a sigh when he asked about how he liked this new place all of them were staying at. „It still seems like a dream you know? I mean, out there we had to fight every day to stay alive – find food and shelter and keeping an eye out so we wouldn't be killed by Grounders. It's just sad that not everyone in our group got to be here.“, he explained and his forehead was creased in a frown for a moment as he thought about those who didn't make it. „I guess I still have to get used to not expecting another attack on my life any moment.“, he added with another grin and chuckles as he leaned back into the armchair.
