Sitting on his cot in the Arker's dormitory, Theo was wringing his hands nervously before someone shoved a steel pipe into his hands as a form of weapon. His days of bliss had very suddenly turned into a nightmare with no apparent way to wake up from it. This place had once been a dream of a sanctuary with running water, plenty of food to go around and a warm bed to sleep things, some of which he'd experienced for the first time in his whole life and a paradise after those harsh first months on Earth. Life inside the mountain became perfect when he met the man he would come to love and for a while it seemed like it couldn't get any better.
He couldn't remember when things started to turn, not exactly. There were those of the Delinquants that had been sceptic about their so called saviors from the very beginning, never settling into their new home. Most of the others had at least suspected they had an agenda long before Theo had doubted them himself, probably because he was wearing rose-colored glasses since one of them was his boyfriend. It had been quite a shock to the boy when he learned what the Mountain Men were really up to. His hands were shaking as he was holding on tight to the pipe in his hands, his knuckles turning white. Everyone around him was clutching weapons, discussing how to keep the guards from taking any of them. Many of the Delinquants were ready to fight, his two best friends being among them of course, but there were those, who like him were just scared and nervous. Theo wished Isaiah was there with him and he couldn't quite accept that he might never see him again.
