All the alarm bells inside her head and especially the voice of her big brother told Sidonia to run away and just leave the trapped man to fend for himself, make him somebody else's business. She shouldn't care whether he starved to death in that trap he'd got caught in, after all he used to belong to those people who'd killed almost everyone she'd ever cared about. But that was just the point, he used to belong to them but if she believed his words, he didn't anymore. She didn't think anyone make up such a story as he'd told her, especially men were far too proud to admit that they'd been banished from their tribe even just for the purpose of saving their own life.
That was why she slowly stepped closer again, still a fierce expression on her face, hands held out defensively and both of them holding a knife now, one was her own small dagger, the other one was one of those she'd taken from the stranger. She jumped to his side and cut the ropes binding him with one swift movement, regaining a safe distance equally as fast.

Sidonia felt a slight ache pulsing in her shoulder when the weight was lifted off of it, making her feel as light as a fever without the extra pounds weighing her down and she rubbed it for a moment. She thought she caught a flicker of surprise on the young man's face as the bag must have been heavier than he'd suspected and it made her smirk a little. She shrugged as Pyroth refused the berries and she threw them in her own mouth, a little bit of juice dripping down her chin as she squelched them with her teeth and tongue. She gave a nod of approval when he said that animals seemed to understand him better than all those around him. She still remembered that shaggy dog she kept as a pet when she was still living with her parents in their old village. He'd always seemed to know when she was feeling sad or lonely and had tried to comfort her. Everyone around her, even her mother who'd been very loving, had always seemed to busy or distracted to find out what bothered her. The animal had even followed her and her brother into the woods after the slaughter of their village and he'd died protecting them from a mountain lion. She still considered him to be the best friend she'd ever had in her life.
She nodded at the boy's question and played with the handle of her dagger, hanging in a sheath on her belt. „I go out most mornings to hunt and collect, it's something like my daily routine.“, she said, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. It was true that she wanted to help the villagers by gathering food and herbs, but most days she was actually more interested in getting out of the village and enjoying the quiet of the surrounding woods away from everyone. The scavenging was necessary, but also a welcome cover so she wouldn't have to offend anyone by admitting that she didn't like to spend too much time with other people. Sid looked up at Pyroth when he asked her about the river. „Yeah, I go there to collect water or simply to bathe. Why do you ask?“, she asked, slightly surprised. She thought that surely everyone must know about the river since it wasn't too far away.

Confusion rippled over the features of the young girl's face when the trapped man revealed the location of another blade he was carrying. Why would he admit to Sidonia that there was another knife hidden in his shoe. She wasn't sure whether she should move in again and take this weapon as well or if she should stay where she was. Maybe this was just his attempt at getting her close enough because so he could get one of the blades she was now holding back. Maybe he'd somehow come up with a plan to free himself that involved her standing right in front of him. But if that was the case, then why hadn't he acted just a moment ago when she'd rid him of his weapons? Sid felt so overwhelmed by the whole situation, she hadn't had nearly enough training for a confrontation of this kind. Her parents had always told her to be brave and to never shy away from a challenge, but since the attack on their village, Kay kept telling her she should keep away from strangers.
Taking a deep breath, the girl walked up to the tied up man once more and slid the dagger out of his boot while holding another knife up to his neck so he wouldn't get any bright ideas. She retreated just about two steps and tried not to let the shock show on her face when he revealed his identity. Sid recalled the faint memory of hearing the adults talk about the young Azgeda prince's banishment before they were killed. Still, that did not proof that what he was saying was true, he could as easily have heard the same story. „My name is Sidonia and YOUR people killed my parents and everyone in my village!“, she said in an angry voice, almost screaming by the end of her sentence and gripping the handle of one of the knives so tightly that her knuckles turned white. „So why should I believe you that you won't kill me too if I let you go?“, she asked in a snarl.

Her brother had already warned Sidonia so many times that she shouldn't stray too far from their village. She'd tried to be secretive about her curiosity for that new kind of people who had settled close enough to their territory, but Kay was the one person she could never fool. They knew each other too well with everything they'd been through together, which was rather unfortunate in situations like this one. Sid knew that she had to be careful if she didn't want her brother to tie her up somewhere just to keep her from getting too close to those strangers. At first, she'd just wanted to satisfy her curiosity and find out if what her people set about the Skaikru was true, if they really were just hostile towards them. The more she watched them, the more intrigued she was by them though and so she couldn't just stop her visits to the big steel fence they'd build around their camp.
She used her almost daily scavengings through the woods as a cover for her visits to Arkadia, but she needed to be careful. Kay was still suspicious about how long she stayed away, since the camp was stil about three hours away from their village. She had promised him that she would stay clear of the strangers whom he judged to be too dangerous for her to approach alone and she felt guilty for deceiving him as she would usually never lie to him. She crouched down behind some bushes once she was close enough to observe the Arkers, staying at the edge of the tree line like she always did. Her eyes wandered over the people that could be seen just behind the fence until they found a target. The person her gaze rested on was a young woman who seemed to be about her own age. What caught Sid's eye the most was her long blond hair, the colour was something that could hardly ever be found in Grounders and Sidonia tucked her own red strands behind one of her ears as she watched the girl's hair flow over her shoulders.

Sidonie is very curious about the Arkers so they could maybe run into each other close to the camp?

Arlin and her could definitely meet, Arlin will just have to be patient because Sid isn't good with people. Since Cleobury is Azgeda, she could maybe meet my Azgeda warrior Ragnar?

Sidonia had left her village armed with a bow an arrow and her trusted leather bag under the cover of going hunting and collecting, which she did most days anyway so noone should be suspicious. She did collect and kill what came across her path, but her main destination was the Skaikru camp about three hours walk from her village. The Chief and his warriors as well as most of the rest of her people had been alarmed and angered by the arrival of the newcomers, but had kept their distance so far, impressed by their advanced weaponry. Sid wouldn't have said so out loud, surely not in front of Kay who'd probably lock her inside her hut if he knew where she'd been going in her spare time, but she was quite intrigued by those humans who'd fallen from the sky. All about them, from their attire to their hairstyles and their speech was so foreign to her which made her all the more curious. She'd made an effort to learn some of their language since it would be handy for the next time she would go trading in Polis, using that as an excuse when asked about her motives to learn their tongue.
She knew she was getting closer to Arkadia as they'd called their camp, when the light shining through the trees became brighter and the space between the tree trunks wider. Once she'd reached the bushes acting like a fence at the edge of the treeline, she could see the huge metal construction that still gave her goosebumps whenever she saw it. She'd almost got caught on one of her visits and even though it was dangerous, that kind of added another thrill to her lone adventures. She got into a crouch behind the shrubs, only her eyes and bright red hair sticking out into view. Most of the action was going on inside the limits of their guarded fence, but the girl's eyes suddenly landed on a figure closer to her than any of the other Arkers. She focused on the young man who seemed to be about her own age and drew in a sharp breath when her gaze wandered over his features. He looked so different from all the young men she'd seen during most of her life, which made him all the more interesting to her and she couldn't tear her eyes off of him.

The young Grounder was surprised by Pyroth's honesty when he told her that he had problems with talking to people. She couldn't help but smile at that since she knew the feeling all too well and it made him seem even more likeable. Warriors were usually too proud to show any weaknesses so it came as quite the surprise to hear him admit his own. „Don't worry! I prefer talking to animals myself.“, she admitted with a shy smile. It was usually not like her to be open or smile a lot, but she didn't want to make him feel even more uncomfortable. Sneaking her hand into the leather bag, she grabbed a handfull of berries and popped them into her mouth. „Would you like some?“, she offered, holding out her hands, a couple of fruits resting in her palm. She looked down at the strap of her pouch, which was already digging into her shoulder. She felt the weight of her gatherings tilt her down to one side and thought about his proposal to carry her load. She was usually to proud herself to accept such offers, but her arm was actually starting to ache a little and he was making an effort, so she didn't want to reject the young man. „If it's no trouble for you.“, she replied and lifted the pack off her shoulder to hand it to him. „I might get back to that some day.“, she added with a nod of her head at his second proposal and then she held the berries once more.

His words did seem to make some sense to the girl, even though she could hardly hear anything else than her own heartbeat drumming inside her ears. The handle of her dagger felt sweaty in her shaking hands. Of course she'd been trained along with the other children in her village, all of whom were dead now, but at her young age she'd only just begun learning how to face and she'd never been faced with an opponent like this one – a strong young warrior twice her size.
She continued dancing from one foot to the other in front of him, drawing closer and retreating again, for a while longer until she finally found the courage to walk up right in front of him. Seeing how tightly his limbs were bound, unable to move, made Sid feel a little more at ease. She scrutinized his garments and robbed him of each weapon she could find – a small hatch, one dagger that was a little longer than hers and another one slightly smaller. She frowned when she noticed the quality and design of his clothing as well as of his weapons. He could hardly be a mere warrior with these tools in his posession. She knew Kay would have cursed her for even given the stranger the time of day, advising her to stay clear and not make his situation her business, but she was just too curious. „Who are you?“, she asked, that confused frown still etched into her face as she kept running her fingers over the knives she'd taken from him.

Sidonia's forehead creased into a frown when Pyroth started stammering away without actually giving her a sensible answer. He seemed so distracted and for a moment, Sid thought she caught him staring at her but she couldn't think of a reasonable excuse for him to do that. She might have blood or dirt on her face from scavenging through the woods, which would explain why his eyes seemed to be so fixed on her. Of course she had caught young men looking at her before, but it wasn't like she was a rare beauty or one of the prettiest girls in the village, at least she didn't consider herself as such. She wouldn't be too embarrassed to admit that he was a fine and strong looking young warrior if she was ever pressed for an answer, but she was never one to indulge in fantasies of romance like some of the other girls her age.
The young wman grew a little suspicious when the Grounder seemed to avoid given a real answer about what he'd been doing before she arrived, but it wasn't really any of her business anyway. He still wanted to hear about her reasons for being here though, however it was no secret that she went out here on most days so she was happy enough to tell him what she'd been doing. She lifted the leather bag in a gesture of drawing his attention to it. There were two small birds hanging from it, tied to it by their claws and a squirrel hanging next to them. The bag itself was filled with berries, nuts and herbs and she opened it for a brief moment to show Pyroth its content. „I was just out doing a supply run. I needed some more herbs and found a few other things.“, she explained, some blood dripping from the small dead animals onto the ground. Sid kept adjusting the strap of her bag as it was getting quite heavy, being so full of everything she'd collected.

'Show off!' Sidonia thought to herself as she watched him get back up with a jump. She knew each of the villager's faces, but she couldn't say that she was close to any of them. Although she'd lived with these people for most of her young years, it had been hard for her to find her way back into a normal village life. After going through the trauma of seeing her parents and everyone in her village be slaughtered by Azgeda warriors and after spending two years living in the woods with her brother, this ordinary life among new people had seemed unreal to the girl and she'd never been able to feel completely at home. So it was no wonder that Pyroth and her didn't know a lot about each other, despite growing up together.
Sidonia had always felt closer to animals after going back to living amongst other people. She'd always spoken to them, Kay being the only human she could talk to during their time in the forest. The other children of the village had often laughed at her and teased her for her weird behavior, especially when she'd first been taken in by the adults, but Sid had always ignored them. At least animals didn't slaughter each other over land or power, they only killed for nourishment, not out of greed. „I like them too!“, she declared and smiled fondly, rubbing her hand over the bark of one of the trees. She leaned her head closer to the trunk and rested her cheek against it for a moment, closing her eyes as she did so. She had always considered the trees to be her friends, shielding her from the view of those who meant her harm and sheltering her from the rain and cold. Her gesture would probably seem weird to Pyroth, especially since a warrior like him would certainly not have the time to spare to appreciate mother nature. „So you're bathing in mud because you like it?“, she asked with raised eyebrows, having to lift her head now since the young man was taller than her.

Like every other day, Sidonia had gotten up with the sun intend of making the most of the hours the day had to give. Although she had been trained in combat like every other Grounder child, she was no warrior and she knew supplying their fighters, who defended the vilage with water and food was as important as the protection of their people. A bow was slung over one of her shoulders, a leather bag for collecting berries, nuts and herbs over the other and her faithful dagger hung by her waist inside its sheath as it always did.
She wasn't the only inhabitant of the village who got out of bed with the birds and other animals so it wasn't uncommon for her to meet someone while running errands, but she was still surprised to find Pyroth, one of the young men from her village, just lying there in the mud. „Morning yourself!“, she replied to the greeting that she thought was meant for her and looked down at him with raised eyebrows. „You know, if you have some sort of skin condition or something, there are better remedies than mud.“, she told him and held a hand in front of her mouth as she couldn't help the smirk that started to form on her face. She wasn't usually much of a joker, but he did seem quite silly laying down there on the ground as if he was taking a nap in the dirt.

Kay
Sidonia's big brother Kay has always looked out for her, like the typical big brother. After their parents were killed by Azgeda warriors along with their whole village, the two siblings spent years being just the two of them, living in the woods. Ever since being taken in by another Grounder village, Kay has been spending most of his time training for combat and he's determined to get revenge on the Azgeda for his parents' murders. That and keeping his little sister out of trouble and safe are his priorities. Other than that his character is completely up to you. The face claim, Alexander Ludwig, is just a suggestion. If you have any other ideas, we can totally brainstorm about them.
