The warmth of Theo's knee was nothing when compared to the warmth that came from having their hands touching. Isaiah honestly didn't know what to do at first, the movement so seemly random to him that his gaze met Theo's in nothing but confusion. Saying that, Isaiah didn't think this was bad. Not in the slightest. And that was probably a problem. This was one of the Space People, a teenager, and Isaiah couldn't help the nagging thought that to allow anything to happen would be taking advantage of the guy. But if Theo was the one initiating it, was it really Isaiah's fault? How could it even be his fault if he wasn't the one making the contact, trying to start things happening? Isaiah still wasn't sure about this, not in the slightest, and it wasn't helping his warm cheeks or generally embarrassed state but he didn't pull his hand away from Theo's.
At Theo mentioning that sneaking around sounded like fun, Isaiah couldn't help but laugh himself. The memories of his childhood spent finding all the hidden parts of the mountain only proving what Theo said. "I used to sneak around the mountain, find all the places we aren't supposed to be," he said, once he managed to calm his laughter. "It's fun." And so is this, Isaiah couldn't help thinking, extremely thankful the words didn't even come close to touching his lips. Without really noticing it, Isaiah himself had also leaned a bit forward, putting himself just the slightest bit closer to Theo. There was something in the air, something that left Isaiah feeling alive. It was the best way to describe it and he could only pin it down to Theo and the hand in which was being held by the younger man. Isaiah didn't want to admit that.
Maybe it had been that touch on Theo's knee that had started this. Maybe it had been Isaiah's fault, even if he had only meant the touch in the most innocent of ways. "It'll be a bit easier to find some fun here." By this point, Isaiah just felt like giving up on making sure he didn't sound suggestive. Everything that came out of his mouth now held a meaning in Isaiah's ears that he hadn't originally intended. Isaiah looked away from Theo again, hoping to get his head together, decide what to do. It hardly took a moment or two for his body to react over his mind, his hand turning over to hold Theo's hand back, seeking the warmth that it gave. The sparks of electricity that seemed to move between their hands. "Uh, should be a concert on tonight," Isaiah said, unsure if he was even right. His brain was just a little fogged up, stuck between a state of being way too interested in a boy he had just met and knowing just how wrong that could be. How had this situation even come about? |

ISAIAH HAHAHA The laugh that had first attracted Isaiah to Theo now only sounded more cute as he laughed at Isaiah's joke rather than the book he had been reading. Isaiah's face settled into an amused smile as he watched Theo lose himself in the laughter and he was almost disappointed when the guy was finally able to compose himself again. From the little things Isaiah already knew about how life had been for the Space People outside of Mount Weather, he really found himself glad to see Theo laughing like that. Still, it was somewhat nice that he had stopped laughing when Isaiah turned serious. The moment felt...nice. Especially with the warmth of Theo's knee under his hand. It would have been a nice moment to stay in longer if such a thing had really been possible. At the same time, Isaiah didn't want to make things weird. And he already felt he could have been.
Isaiah didn't particularly blame Theo for following the lead of his friends in what to do with his time, Isaiah could honestly be quite similar there. When he was with his friends, he usually did just follow their lead, although he also did a lot more when he wasn't with those friends. "They sound like they must be really fun people," Isaiah said, trying to both compliment Theo friends and Theo himself with the words. He wasn't sure how his brain had come to thinking that comment would do both things but he didn't particularly want to overthink it either. "Especially if following their lead got you here," he added on. Gosh, why was he saying that? Maybe Isaiah hit his head on something, maybe that was why he was saying stupid things. Maybe Theo liked space. "Unless you really liked living on the Ark," he muttered as an afterthought.
As Theo smiled brightly and asked what "mountain kids" did for fun, Isaiah's eyebrows lifted just slightly. The grin, the eyebrows, the way the question was asked...Isaiah found himself blushing, unable to stop the colour as it settled into his cheeks. "Um, ah, we..." Isaiah trailed off, making some unidentifiable gesture with his hands. He was not meaning at all to try and be suggestive himself but his eyes widened as he realised that it could sound that way. "Um, we read books. There are concerts and stuff. Parties. Adults tend to have more formal things and teenager try to sneak around a bit, as much as they can." Isaiah shrugged as the word vomit finished, sinking further into the chair, unable to do anything but avoid looking at Theo. He stared at the ceiling instead, counting out the tiles as he waited for whatever reaction he would get to the thing he just did. |

@shiloh
Life in Mount Weather felt crazy. Maybe it wasn't for a lot of the other residents but for Isaiah, the guy who had decided to try his best to investigate the new members of the mountain, he felt like nothing would be calm ever again. From the intensity of talking to Clarke, to the lighthearted conversations had with Theo. Isaiah had even made new friends of mountain residents through the Space Peoples' arrival, particularly a younger kid called Alastor. Looking back to his life before, nothing had ever felt so busy, not the worst of harvests or even his final school exams. But it wasn't bad. No, not at all. Isaiah was in love with this new mountain and the life that these new teenagers brought to it. He couldn't imagine going back to how things had been before.
He shivered at the thought, wrapping his arms around himself as he walked into the dining hall. It was expectantly busy, although it seemed to be busier than other nights. Isaiah grabbed a plate of food and began moving around the hall, trying to find a place to sit. His dad was working, his mum with her own friends. His friends were nowhere to be seen. Once he came across a small table with only one girl sitting at it, he already knew that it would be the best place for him to sit. Saying that, he might have sat there even if he could find his friends. Seeing someone sitting alone wasn't something that Isaiah liked, especially seeing it was one of the teenagers. Isaiah had no idea if he was growing past his curiosity because his face had already settled into a smile and his mind racing with questions he could ask as he pulled the chair out and sat down at the table.
From those first few seconds, Isaiah gained an impression that told him this girl was shy. Or, at least, that she tended to be quieter, especially when compared to a lot of the louder teenagers that Isaiah could still hear even at the edge of the hall. "Hi," Isaiah said in reply to the girl's greeting, smile still on his face. He placed his cutlery down next to his plate. "I'm Isaiah. This seat isn't taken?" It probably would have been more polite to ask before he sat down but the girl hadn't looked like he was waiting for anyone else, and he could just as easily stand up again if he had been wrong. "You looked like you could use some company," he added on, as he picked up his fork and twirled it between his fingers a couple times, just waiting to see that his company wasn't unwelcome. |

Well, this post is sorta a rollercoaster. Was written over 2 nights so I hope it isn't confusing. There was something about the guy in front of Isaiah that was grabbing his attention, and for some reason Isaiah felt like it was more than him just being one of the Space People. He had spoken to them before, to Clarke in those earlier days and to others. Words here and there. There was something different about this particular guy, whether it be the slight awkwardness or the goofy grin or the fact that Theo just looked plain adorable. What it probably was, was the place in which he had come across the guy. Even if Theo wasn't really a reader, even if this was the first book he'd ever picked up by choice, it was still in the library of all places and that was still a favourite place of Isaiah's. He was sure anyone would seem so much better in the room that smelt of books.
Isaiah was quite focused on watching Theo and all he could hope was that it didn't look that way. He noticed the way Theo's thumb lightly brushed over the book he had been reading, and his mind wandered the way it did sometimes. The way that Isaiah tended to ignore and put down to having read too many books or his hormones that hardly seemed to have calmed since he'd become an adult. One thing that Isaiah also noticed was the way that Theo's smile slipped from his face at Isaiah's comments and his mind began to twirl and his own smile dropped, almost in a panic as he tried to think of what he had done wrong and more particularly, how he could fix it. Books aren't for everyone. Harry Potter isn't too dark. I like your smile. All the possibilities running through his mind, none of them making it to his mouth.
In the end it didn't matter as the boy's smile returned and Isaiah's followed suit. Although his eyebrows lifted just slight as he saw colour appear in Theo's cheeks. It was sad in a way to hear the words that Theo spoke, to hear how hard it had been outside of Mount Weather, especially with all the dreams that Isaiah had of the world. But he knew the negativity was only because of the Outsiders, whom he'd learnt were called Grounders by the Space People when talking to Clarke. "I could sneak up behind you and give you a scare for familiarity sake?" Isaiah suggested, a playfulness to his tone. After a moment his smile became more sincere and he leaned further forward, placing a hand lightly on Theo's knee. "You are safe, don't worry. Nothing's gonna hurt you in here. Apart from a few paper cuts here and there."
After a moment, Isaiah felt the awkwardness of his positions and moved back to his arm's relief, although he sort of missed the contact when he did so. He was a fan of contact, finding it helped when he couldn't always find the right words or say them with the needed confidence. When he leaned back into the armchair, Isaiah sank down into it, his eyes closing for a moment before they opened again to settle on Theo. "These chairs are way too comfortable for a place you're supposed to be productive in," he said, just sinking further down into the cushion. Isaiah knew a few things about these Space People, and because of that there were topics he knew he'd rather avoid. There were always safe topics, however. "So, if you didn't read, what do you like to do for fun?" That was a safe topic, one that wouldn't lead onto a depressing topic. At least he hoped it was. It wasn't that he didn't want to talk about things, it was that he couldn't imagine Theo would. |

Interesting? Isaiah wasn't too sure how to take that answer but it didn't remove the smile from his face, and seeing a matching smile on Monty's face on helped him to think it may have been a more positive than negative sort of answer. And there was still some colour in his cheeks but Isaiah didn't think that would fade completely anytime soon. The whole situation could honestly be really funny, from the cake onward nothing that had happened really spoke of getting along, let alone liking each other. Isaiah had stopped trying to look at feelings in a logical way long ago, however, and so all he cared about was the fact that Monty did seem attractive and despite all the things that had happened as they ate lunch, Isaiah had taken notice of quite a few good qualities of Monty's. He guessed he should have also felt lucky that the liking for someone as cute as Monty seemed to be mutual.
"Yeah, a farmer," Isaiah said, chuckling lightly. When Monty asked if he liked his job, Isaiah nodded, smile still on his face. He definitely loved his job, he had managed to find something that he was completely passionate about and he had no idea what his life would be like if he had gotten into something else. Being a chef or restoring books like his parents didn't sound anywhere near as interesting to him. "My friend used to joke that I was married to my job so yeah, I do like it." Isaiah laughed again, meeting Monty's gaze before focusing back on his plate and eating more of his salad. His friends had always loved to joke about Isaiah's love of farming, and well, Isaiah didn't think he could blame them. "If you love your job it isn't work, don't you think?" Chewing on some lettuce, Isaiah forced himself to look back up at Monty. It had definitely sounded like Monty loved engineering.
Monty explained why had been arrested and Isaiah couldn't really do anything but laugh. He was going to executed to stealing some herbs? It seemed like such a silly thing, especially knowing the amount of times Isaiah had caught teenagers, and even adults, trying to steal some of the pot that they grew for medicinal purposes. Stealing small amounts of things in agriculture didn't get you into trouble, the farmers never tended to report anything unless it was big. Food wasn't something they were particularly short on, only the workers to keep it growing and harvested. "Well, you aren't really a criminal," Isaiah said, "Sounds like you were just really bored." Never had Isaiah even thought about smoking but he wasn't going to judge Monty for that. It wasn't like he'd murdered someone. "And I won't tell anyone, don't worry." |

Sorry this reply took so long! My muse died in December. Isaiah appreciated the apology the kid gave and accepted it with a smile and nod. The kid was a lot more polite than others around his age, that was for sure, and it was nothing but a good thing in Isaiah's eyes. It wasn't as if it had been a big thing, but a small apology from them both cleared the air and almost brought some humour to how they'd both been rushing to get the book for similar reasons, if not the same reason. Isaiah was extremely glad to find another person as interested as he was in the new people and getting into the books to research the topic of space. There obviously weren't many, if any, other people doing that same thing, shown by the few people who were in the library.
While reading was one of the few fun things that could be done in Mount Weather, not many people hung out in the library a lot like Isaiah did, and there weren't any more people than usually could be found in the large room.
As the boy mentioned having found other books about space stations, Isaiah's face lit up even more. "I'd love to, can never read too many books." The feelings the boy had about thinking he was the only one were familiar to Isaiah, while there had been a couple of small conversations about the new people with his friends and his family, it was otherwise quiet on the topic. It sometimes felt too quiet and Isaiah really had begun to wonder if other people knew something he didn't that kept them from being as curious as him. "Same, but thankfully we both really want to read this book," Isaiah teased.
With a quick and positive reply to Isaiah's suggestion of where they could go to sit, Isaiah started off towards it, turning his head back after a couple steps at the sound of the boy introducing himself. "Nice to meet you, I'm Isaiah," he said, deciding it wasn't worth holding his hand out to shake, not with how young Alastor looked. Isaiah walked over to the table and sat down on one of the chairs. If he wasn't sharing a book with someone else he would have more likely sat in one of the comfortable armchairs or even on the patchwork beanbags (which were only like they were because of the amount times holes had to patched). Once Alastor was sitting as well and books were on the table, Isaiah asked the question he was dying to ask, "Have you talked to any of them yet? You'd be more around their age than me." |

Isaiah continued watching the other man as he got comfortable, and he didn't let the smile slip from his face. As random as the meeting was, Isaiah almost felt like it was fate. To meet one of the Space People in the library and to find them reading a book that Isaiah had loved as a kid. Isaiah's memory for stories left him able to remember the book, even when he hadn't read it in years. It was nice to also see that the other man was smiling too, that Isaiah hadn't done anything to offend him, which was something Isaiah had been a bit worried about. There was a smile on both their faces however, so there wasn't much reason to worry too much. Isaiah got more comfortable in his own chair, sinking down into the cushion. It was comfortable enough it could probably be used for sleeping.
The other man admitted to never having been much of a reader, and while Isaiah couldn't help the way his smile dropped for a moment, he quickly pulled his lips up again. He couldn't imagine a time when he hadn't been reading at every chance he got but he knew that not everyone was like that, and, "It's good that you're reading now." It was, even if the guy was a lot older than most when they first read the Harry Potter books, he would enjoy them just as much. "These're pretty widely read, so you can trust they'll be good. Be warned though, it isn't always laughs." A genuine grin back on he face, only flickered away as he gave his warning, Isaiah leaned forward in the chair a bit, resisting the urge to instead lean back further and rest. The appearance of these new people had only added to the work load of pretty much everyone and agriculture wasn't an exception.
It wouldn't be difficult to get an early night, but he might not get another chance like this and it was also nice so far talking to the guy. It was a lot different to the conversation he had had days before with the woman called Clarke. "Nice to meet you, too," Isaiah said, shaking Theo's hand and appreciating the polite gesture. It was nice to see that, especially since Isaiah tended to think highly on manners most of the time. "So, Theo, you're one of the new people here, right?" he asked, and then without waiting for Theo to give an answer, Isaiah spoke again. "Like Mount Weather so far?" There was always the possibility he was so bored that he had come to the library in hopes reading might be something fun to do. Really, that was a large possibility. As much as Isaiah loved his home, he knew how boring the place could really be. He was sure it would have been a lot more interesting and fun in space than being trapped in a mountain. |

A smile lit up Isaiah's face, and he knew it would be obvious but he couldn't help it. "I'm single too," he told Monty, voice quieter than he intended it to be. There was definitely a colour to his cheeks that only become darker by Monty's next question. Why was he so interested? Well, Isaiah would have thought that would have been pretty obvious. Why did anyone go around asking if someone was single? And if Monty was throwing the question back at him, it had to mean something similar, right? "You know..." Isaiah said, trailing off as he looked at Monty in hopes the guy would just understand, and not be scared off. After a moment he shrugged, unable to really say or do anything else. Isaiah wasn't good at this and he definitely never felt more shy than when he had a new interest in someone.
He listened as Monty answered his question, explaining how he had come to become an engineer rather than a farmer. There was nothing overly surprising about the story and while Isaiah was still a bit disappointed about the fact that Monty wasn't a farmer, he was still happy to hear that Monty found something he enjoyed. Hopefully he'd be able to be an engineer in Mount Weather as well. "I'm a farmer," Isaiah answered, his tone as straight forward as it could be. The expected answer knowing how he'd managed to draw the conversation onto the topic of farming. "I work mostly in the section that grows root vegetables, although I'll take any opportunity to help out with fruit picking." There was nothing more beautiful in Mount Weather than the fruit trees, at least in Isaiah's opinion.
The view that Monty spoke of was something that Isaiah was insanely jealous of. He knew all the artworks on the walls were there because they didn't have windows. "Just because we don't have windows doesn't mean we can't have views." He'd heard that said many times but in Isaiah's mind, nothing could beat an actual view. A view of space, well, Isaiah was sure it would look even more beautiful than the pictures he had seen in books. If only the rest of the stuff to do with space was that nice. Monty continued to explain what the justice system had been like, and mentioned that all their people in Mount Weather were criminals. That probably should have left Isaiah feeling a little uncomfortable, at the least, but the way that Monty said it only had him feeling sorry for them all. "So, what did you do then?" Isaiah had to ask.

Monty confirmed yet again that Jasper was not his boyfriend and Isaiah chuckled lightly. "Is another guy your boyfriend?" he asked, feeling like it might be the most natural time to ask the question that he couldn't help but want to know the answer to. It wasn't for any particular reason he needed to know the answer. Well, Monty was cute and that joy that Isaiah had seen in him was more attractive than a lot of things Isaiah saw in other people. Even if the guy was making fun of Isaiah a bit and insisting that there was nothing wrong with sharing cutlery. "Or do you have a girlfriend?" he added on. He just wanted to know. It didn't mean he would do anything with whatever answer he did get given. He tried to keep his face from looking hopeful, instead focusing on the humour from the multiple confirmations of Jasper not being a boyfriend and keeping a glitter in his eyes.
The reaction he got from Monty at using the fork was expected. Monty teased him about not minding the germs anymore. Isaiah actually rolled his eyes and continued to eat, picking up his knife so he could cut into his chicken. Thankfully, the food hadn't made it to his mouth, it paused somewhere between there and the plate, his eyes widening slightly but he managed to compose himself relatively quickly this time. He chewed on his chicken as he thought of how to respond or even if he would respond. It was reassuring that Isaiah didn't mind his germs now? Isaiah had no idea how to take that and he just decided to move on from it, shaking his head ever so slightly as he continued to eat, his eyes focused on his plate rather than on Monty.
Isaiah felt the smile slip from his face as Monty said he wasn't a farmer. "Oh, okay," he said, knowing he shouldn't have gotten his hopes up on an assumption. He continued to listen and really, he was just happy to hear there was something that Monty liked, even if it wasn't farming. "How'd you get into engineering?" If he grew up around farmers, Isaiah was curious to know how he didn't go down that same path. In Mount Weather, anyone could be anything but Isaiah knew most people ended up doing the same sort of thing their parents did. One of Isaiah's parents was a chef, so farming and dealing with food at a different stage wasn't that big of a jump for him. Things could have been a lot different in space. Although with everything that Monty was saying, he was making it seem like life was just as boring there as it was in the mountain.
Both places were small with the same people and same things. But Isaiah didn't think Monty understood just how much he got that those in the mountain missed out on. "But you got to see the sun, and have windows and there probably would have been more of a variety of jobs." It seemed like Monty was hell bent on destroying Isaiah's view of space, however, as he continued to speak and described what the law system was like. Isaiah's face completely dropped and he had well and truly stopped eating again. As he frowned at Monty, he placed his fork down on his plate and leaned his body forward. "They kill you for any crime?" he asked, needing to know if he had heard that right. His voice hinted at slight panic. "I, um, don't know much about the crime system here but it isn't that." There would have been an uprising if that happened, people wouldn't just sit around and let that happen. |

Never had Isaiah heard someone so quickly deny that a person was their partner, not as quickly as Monty denied that Jasper was his boyfriend. That was an odd relief that Isaiah felt at hearing that, a relief that he definitely didn't need to be feeling after hearing that this stranger wasn't dating another stranger. It didn't matter to Isaiah, or it shouldn't matter. He did understand what Monty meant, that Jasper was his brother but not in a literal sense of the word. Close friends. While Isaiah didn't have a friend that was that close, he had seen others that were and had read about it enough in books. He guessed it wasn't completely weird that the two would share cutlery. "Okay, he's not your boyfriend," Isaiah said, confirming that he'd heard Monty's words, his hands lifting for a moment with his palms out before they dropped down down onto the table.
Isaiah was completely lost on what to do as Monty laughed. His face held the same levels of confusion, although his cheeks had began warming and the blush would be obvious. This wasn't where he had expected the conversation to go at all, and it was honestly his own fault. If he were to be honest, though, seeing Monty laugh and seeing that joy in him--the same joy Isaiah had seen as he ate the chocolate cake--Isaiah didn't particularly feel bad about the conversation taking the turn it did. Monty's words just fueled the growing colour on Isaiah's cheeks, the teasing words causing the older male to glance down at his own plate of half-eaten food and to the fork that sat next to it. It was Monty's comment about not wanting to give Isaiah his germs that led to Isaiah actually picking that fork up again and using it to pick up a slice of tomato.
No, Isaiah wasn't trying to impress Monty. Well, that's what he was going to tell himself at least. It was a challenge and what right minded person wouldn't accept it? He brought the fork to his mouth, ignoring the little voice that told him this was gross as he ate the tomato. It was only once he was chewing on his own food that he realised Monty had been eating a lot more mannerly than he had been before, with his mouth closed. It was a good thing to see, or it was good not to see the food being chewed up. Isaiah held a strong stomach but no one wanted to see that. He sort of wanted to comment on it. Good job on eating with your mouth closed. But Isaiah had said enough stupid things already and he didn't need to make this conversation any worse than he'd already managed to make it.
There was nothing Monty could have said that grabbed Isaiah's attention clearer than saying that he had grown up on farm station. That meant he would know a lot more about farming than Isaiah expected a lot of the others would. Obviously he had done a good job at picking the person to talk to that day. "That makes sense," Isaiah said, "Hydroponic is the best method when you don't have real soil." He was smiling now, any remnants of colour gone from his cheeks. "Were you going to be a farmer then?" he asked, unable to keep the excitement from his tone. They always needed more farmers in agriculture, and if the techniques were pretty similar...Isaiah needed to wait for an answer before he got his hopes up.
"Things aren't perfect here," Isaiah had to say. There were secrets, things that Isaiah knew he couldn't say and that he tended to not want to even think about. They made him feel sick. "And it gets boring quickly. Same people, same events. There's only so much space to discover before you start feeling trapped. Food's the only good thing." If anything, Isaiah would do a horrible job at selling Mount Weather as the place to live. He knew it was safe and warm, and he always had food to eat but other than that, Isaiah couldn't say he saw much that was exciting about his home. Space sounded better. The outside sounded the best. |

It was obvious Isaiah hadn't been seen before he spoke, obvious by the way that the teenager jumped at the sound of Isaiah's voice. Isaiah had to hold back laughter but he couldn't stop his smile from widening and his eye from glittering. "Sorry if I scared you," he said, his voice quick to get the words out. He didn't feel that bad but he would still be polite. The guy looked pretty cute as he blushed, moving around in the chair to sit properly. It was interesting seeing someone else looked so shy, when it was often the case that Isaiah was blushing, feeling embarrassed about one thing or the other. He knew how it felt, though, and so he was trying not to laugh or do anything that might make the guy feel worse. He didn't want to be that person. Isaiah was also patient, not fussed over the fact that it seemed to take a moment for the guy to work out what had been asked earlier.
When he did speak, Isaiah waited, listening and not feeling the need to judge him on the stuttering or anything, really. The guy reminded Isaiah so much of himself, it was worrying. Not in a bad way worrying, just in a way that left Isaiah both feeling slightly at unease and wanting to protect the guy as well. "Now it really makes sense why you were laughing. I love that part" Isaiah said and suddenly another thought came to mind, "You haven't read Harry Potter before?" If they didn't have copies of Harry Potter up in space, Isaiah would be really surprised. Him and almost every other kid in the mountain had grown up reading it, apparently a long-running tradition from back before the bombs. It would seem weird that people hadn't, and it felt from the laughter like the guy there hadn't read the book before. "I'm Isaiah, by the way," he added. Isaiah grabbed another armchair, pulling it to sit at an angle near the teenager an dropping down into it. |

With Bellamy's hand in his again, Isaiah's felt even stronger. Like he was sharing Bellamy's strength. He just hoped that Bellamy felt somewhat the same. He was happy to hear that Bellamy sounded just as keen as him to get out of medical and felt a more comfortable smile fall onto his lips. It wouldn't be the fastest or easiest of trips but being out of medical was the best thing that Isaiah could think of at the moment. When Bellamy asked how Isaiah was feeling, he wasn't too sure exactly how to answer a question like that. Not after what had happened. He could have so easily died and it had definitely left him more aware of how small Mount Weather was and how little freedom he had. One bad leak was all it would take to end him and he would have no where to run. Thinking that, he didn't exactly want to admit to that. And physically he was improving, so that was the part that mattered for the most. "As good as I can be," he said, deciding it was the best thing he could say.
Part of him did want to be a little more truthful, or more open, but he was also watching Bellamy and seeing the way that he still looked weak. He looked worse than Isaiah felt. And honestly, it would be better to focus on the positives. His mind was certainly doing that, unable to budge from the topic of Bellamy. Of Bellamy saving him. What had did to save him. "What about you?" Isaiah asked, unable to hide the worry that seeped into his voice. It was difficult to not think about the bad with the good and the fact that Bellamy had obviously become sick through doing what he did for Isaiah. "Nauseous at all?" Isaiah squeezed Bellamy's hand as they walked out of medical. He walked in the general direction of the residences although he wasn't sure which of their places they were going to. Isaiah did know that there was no way he was going to leave Bellamy's side though. "Yours or mine?" he asked, the question coming out a bit suggestive as he wanted to lighten the mood as much as he could. |

EXCITED FOR THESE TWO! There were two places in Mount Weather where Isaiah felt the most at home. The first was, of course, agriculture where he worked. There was nothing to him more relaxing, nothing that could make him smile more than sitting under the fruit trees or walking amongst all the other plants that they grew for all different purposes. The second place was the library. That was where Isaiah was now, a day off work and having had the acute purpose of reading anything he could find about space. His eyes had glossed over every book he could find, first specifically on space stations and living in space, but now as he stood up, he closed a book that was purely fiction and had been about a Doctor, Who no one seemed to know the name of. It had been set in space.
Walking over to the shelf he had taken the book from, Isaiah placed it back on the shelf. All the shelves were surrounded in glass, keeping the air out and keeping the books from falling apart. A laugh cut through the generally quiet library. It was thick and real, and Isaiah was sure he heard the sound of something being hit along with it. His gaze fell on the man that had been the source of the laugh, an older teenager sprawled out on an armchair. A smile settled on Isaiah's face, enjoying just had lost in the book the guy seemed and finding some humour in how he had made himself comfortable. It wasn't until Isaiah took a couple steps closer, wondering if he could get a glance of the book's cover, that he realised the man was completely unfamiliar.
There were a lot of people in the mountain, yes, but Isaiah had lived long enough to at least be familiar with all of the faces. His smile grew, knowing that the guy had to of been one of the Space People, as Isaiah was calling them. The teenagers that were new to Mount Weather. Like Isaiah would miss out on such an opportunity. Plus, he was still genuinely curious about what the laughter had been about. He walked over to the guy. "What's so funny?" he asked first, eyes on the book cover to work out what it was the guy was reading. He hardly needed to read the title to work it out, the cover itself familiar to him. "Oooh, where are you to?" It was a good book and Isaiah could understand why the guy had been laughing like he had. |

Being known as the Crazy Girl, the way that Clarke was nodding did nothing to help her in looking sane. It was overly slow and Isaiah had to stop himself from showing the worry and discomfort it caused him. Part of him couldn't help wondering if she was some sort of ticking time bomb, that suddenly she would go back to being a shouting girl covered in blood and threatening some poor person--he especially couldn't help worrying that the poor person could end up being him. For the moment, it did seem like he was the only Mount Weather resident in the dorm room. When she spoke, it didn't really do much to help. There was parts and words that Isaiah didn't quite understand, he could put some meaning to them through context but that was about it. At the same time, Isaiah hadn't known much about how they had gotten into the mountain before and now he had some sort of idea.
It did sound horrible and it wasn't difficult for Isaiah to put a frown on his face. "I can understand your reasons," he told her, and it wasn't a total lie. "Are grounders the people who live outside?" he asked, wanting to confirm the assumption he had made there, that grounders were what Isaiah knew as Outsiders. His smile stayed on his lips and he shrugged his shoulders lightly, trying not to make the gesture seem too obvious, or give away just how out of place and awkward he felt standing there talking to her. "I'm sorry that happened." Isaiah himself had had nothing to do with them getting into the mountain but he still felt the need to say such a thing. Both in his own caring and in the fact that he wanted Clarke to be willing to say more. He had read a book or few on this sort of thing and while he didn't know if he was good at it, he could at least try.
What she said next actually surprised Isaiah and it was impossible for him to hide that from his face. Even after how dramatic it seemed it was for her to arrive in the mountain, why would she not want to be there? There was food and safety, clean water and warm beds. Yes, even Isaiah held that need to go outside the walls and up into the world his ancestors knew, but when he thought about it logically, things were good in the mountain. Especially with the savages they all knew lived outside. But friends, that made more sense to Isaiah. If he had friends out there, he would probably want to help them too, but he would want those with skill and training to find them. He wouldn't go out there himself. "I'm sure our people are looking for them," Isaiah said with a shrug. It wouldn't make sense for them not to, since the higher ups had obviously brought these new people in for a reason.
Isaiah's eyes widened, his shoulders rising and his head sinking. There was nothing he knew about what Clarke was saying. First impressions, being attacked. Isaiah was a farmer. Maybe he should tell her that, before she got the impression he was anyone important. "I don't know anything about things like that," he said, part of him not liking to admit it. If he didn't have something to offer to Clarke, how was he supposed to get information out of her? He wasn't good at being Sherlock. There was good reason he wasn't a guard. "I work in agriculture. I can tell you at the very least, our food won't hurt you." He offered something, a bit of a joke if she took it the right way. He wasn't quite sure of that. Her latest comments had only managed to feed more into the bad feeling that Isaiah couldn't stop feeling. |

Isaiah's eyes widened at the answer he was given to his question, that Monty did usually go around sharing his germs. That was definitely something that wouldn't be appropriate in Mount Weather and while Isaiah wanted to point that out, to save Monty the pain of having it pointed out by someone in a more aggressive manner, he couldn't quite find the confidence to manage that. With the reactions he had gotten from the man so far, including the fact that the fork had been thrown back at him, he didn't exactly want to put himself in a position where he could anger Monty at all. But then Monty expanded on his answer and Isaiah suddenly saw things in a different light--although there was still the issue of the fork. "Is he your boyfriend then?" Isaiah asked, knowing that it was a reasonable thing to assume. These people from space would have lives just like those from the mountain, and it was the only logical explanation Isaiah could find to freely sharing germs with someone.
There was a moment of silence, Monty's gaze on his, where Isaiah felt the horror of having his kiss comment heard. Of all the things Isaiah could have said, and he had chosen to say that. The weight of it just felt more so with the possibility of him having a boyfriend, and of Isaiah not wanting to find an angry partner chasing him down. So Isaiah felt the horror sink in and reasonably expected a bad reaction. Then Monty laughed. Isaiah's face held so much confusion he may as well have said "huh?" and tilted his head to the side in question. His voice just as quiet as it had been when he'd made the kiss comment, Isaiah spoke again, "Well, if I change the attitude..." All he was doing was digging a deeper hole for himself. Obviously he didn't hold that much value on his life, he hadn't even seen what this Jasper looked like yet. Knowing how many times he had also failed to speak when he had wanted to, maybe Isaiah was doomed to always say the wrong things at the wrong times.
Isaiah didn't think he was overthinking it at all. He had only met Monty minutes before, how could he think it was fine to share a fork? If anything, Monty was underthinking it. But Isaiah didn't want to argue about a fork so he just placed it down next to his plate and tried not to think about it. He could focus on space instead, and that was definitely a topic that Isaiah wanted to put all of his focus on. Space would be so much more interesting than the mountain. Isaiah almost wanted to roll his eyes, or at least tell Monty that he was asking a serious question but honestly, with how weird things had seemed to be since Isaiah sat down, he didn't find he held enough confidence to do either thing. But Monty continued and Isaiah's face lit up as he listened, even if the answer wasn't particularly interesting.
He guessed it was pretty much what he expected, knowing that things would be a lot different in space. "Uh, did you have anything to do with farming?" He had to ask. Isaiah was a farmer first and foremost, it was the thing that took up the majority of his time and attention, of course his main focus would be on the farming side of things in space. "Do you know how thing were grown? Hydroponic farming, maybe?" That was how things where grown in Mount Weather and it would make the most sense if it was how they did it in space too, unless there was some other sort of method they used that Isaiah had never heard of before. "And I do want to know," Isaiah said, "Anything is more interesting than this place." Anything.
