And while you are sitting indoors waiting for the storm to pass I will be outside dancing in the rain
❧ Leiana had just gotten to the good part of the book; the part where the dashing pirate captain came to the rescue of the damsel in distress. He'd just leaned into the kiss her, the kind of kiss that was heated and made fireworks explode all around them, when she heard the door handle being turned.
With a squeak Leiana jumped off the couch, scrambling to hide the book between the cushions in her panic, but it was too late. When she turned to look over a shoulder, Malia was there in the doorway, and all Leiana could do was stare in shock, this cheesy romance novel half between the couch cushions and painfully visible.
Leiana swallowed hard to dislodge the embarrassed lump in her throat and forced a smile. Her face was burning bright red, and she wished the ground would open and swallow her whole. "Do you ever knock..."

Malia had went into Leiana's room, not used to knocking. She stopped as she saw the Sky Girl's expression, confused. She frowned slightly, studying her. There was nothing in the room she had to be embarrassed of, and Leiana had seemed to be reading when she had come in. She glanced around the room, finding the half-hidden book. Why was she trying to hide the novel? It was not like Malia knew how to read. Why was she embarrassed of it? Was this not a good time to talk to her? She had not seem all that busy.
"I apologize," she said, looking back at Leiana. "Should I wait until later to speak with you?"

❧ There was no subtle way to force the book deeper between the cushions, no way to hide the stiff and awkward way she cleared her through and moved around the couch toward Malia. "No, no." She said a little to quickly, trying desperately to shift attention away from herself and onto Malia. "What's going on? What can I help you with?" She'd moved to stand a few feet away, smiling through her embarrassment. hands on her hips and posture open to block Malia looking deeper into the room.

Malia smirked faintly as she watched Leiana. "What were you reading?" she asked her, figuring out that she was embarrassed about the book. "Can I see?" she asked her, going around her and reaching for the book teasingly. She found it amusing how flustered the sky girl seemed. What could possibly be in the book that she was embarrassed about? She was not sure if Leiana knew she could not read, and hoped she did not, hoping that the sky girl would get more flustered if she tried to get a glimpse at the book.
