Her foot was tapping restlessly against the floor as she looked between the man and the exit. He had said something only a moment ago that... was it a question? A threat? Madi hadn't understood him and when she snapped back a reply, it seemed he hadn't understood her either.
They were at an impasse and she was eager to be out from under his gaze, to be away from these people that didn't understand her and whom she didn't understand. But that wasn't an option.
Clarke would be angry; she had insisted that Madi learn their language--had claimed it was both safer for her and more dangerous for their enemies. Madi shifted in her seat, positioned herself so that she could find her feet quickly should the need arise.
Everything about her was tense while the man seemed calmed, indifferent even, entirely undisturbed by her distrusting nature and accusing stare.
He was interesting... unlike any of the Skaikru she had met thus far. "Chon yu bilaik?" Her words were rough, her voice soft as she raised her chin almost in an act of defiance.

One generation plants the trees,
Baron didn't have to ask why he was asked to do this. He supposed it was fitting considering his position on the Ark, and the knowledge others had of him. That didn't mean it would be an easy task. He had learned only bits and pieces of their language, and hoped to learn more. To understand more. But right now, his efforts were fixed on the girl before him. She didn't need to speak English for him to understand her.
He could see it in her entire demeanour. She didn't want to be here. And that right there, was going to make his task ten times more difficult. To find motivation for her. He smiled, clearly not understanding what she was saying so thought to start with something simple enough. Introductions. He put his hands on his chest, taking a few steps towards her and looking at her. "Baron," he said. "Name, Baron." He could eventually scaffold and extend the sentence but for now, it was more important for her to pick up on the basic keywords first.

Madi tensed when he stepped closer but otherwise did nothing, said nothing, remained entirely still. Her hands were curled into fists at her sides, ready to lash out should he provoke her, but he did nothing but speak in a calm voice. His words were not understood, leaving her squinting at him in confusion.
His name, perhaps. She could recall Clarke having said something similar when they'd first met. Madi lifted her chin as she eyed him up and down, trying to deceiver his foreign words. Judging from his posture she was able to conclude that he didn't mean any harm, and that he was only introducing himself.
She motioned to him. "Baron." And then she mimicked his body language, touching a hand to her chest while staring into his eyes. "Madi Kom Louwoda Kliron Kru." This was a good start. Nice and easy. Safe for the moment.
