He was gone but Madi had anticipated this. It was so unlikely that anyone had survived the second Primfaya - even the two of them had been so close to death. That did not stop the surprise upon learning that her brothers father was the King of Azgeda. Roan Kom Azgeda. It should not have been so surprising.
Clarke spoke so fondly of the man when telling her stories, detailing his presence as though he was still present in the room and not an echo of the past. Madi supposed for Clarke he was still there.. She likely still felt him in everything that she did, was reminded of him every day of her pregnancy.
Madi did not interrupt as Clarke spoke. Madi let her speak, to remember him, to honour him with her words. She had not known him well, had only heard of him before Primfaya had come, but the way Clarke spoke of him painted a visit picture of what he was like. But what Madi did know was the reputation of Azgeda, and she understood her adoptive mothers fears.
"Clarke," Madi said, her voice soft and serious as she looked up at her, hovering close to both Theo and Clarke. "No one will take him." There was nothing left on this earth that would take this child from them. It was not a promise that would be broken. "I promise you. No one will ever take him from you."

Clarke was dead. That moment, those words, repeated in her brain like a horrible nightmare and she could not wake. Clarke was dead. The woman that had saved her was gone; the woman who had become her mother was dead, and no miracle, no divine intervention would bring her back. Madi wanted to break down and cry but Sheidheda scolded her for even considering it.
He told her to stop being a child, to be the commander she was, to focus on the task at hand. The people responsible, the Primes, would pay dearly for taking Clarke from her. Sheidheda had agreed to help her, would ensure she got revenge for Clarke. And so every single Prime would pay. She would kill them all. Every last one of them.
Her vengeance began with Gaia's banishment. And when the others, Bellamy, and Jordan, Miller, had tried to reason with her, to influence her to change her mind, as though that was possible, she had shoved her way out of the bar and ran. She ran until her lungs were burning, until she'd passed the barrier and was deep in the forest.
And when her running slowed into a stroll, the tears still drying on her cheeks, a decision was made. These people knew nothing of fear; they were scared of the Children of Gabriel, scared of the eclipse, scared of death. But she was Heda of the thirteen clans and there was worse things then death. Hearing the rustling of leaves behind her, Madi turn abruptly, not caring who or what it was that stalked her, ready to charge, ready to fight to the end.

Madi was staring at him from the passenger's seat. This was the real Bellamy Blake, here in the flesh, no longer a story. He was different than how she'd imagined he would be but also exactly like Clarke had described. He looked different, but that was to be expected. But he was the same protective man with an undying loyalty to his friends.
This was the man who had kept the delinquents alive when first landing on the ground; the man that had infiltrated the mountain to rescue his friends; the man that had helped save them from the second praimfaya. Except there was one thing that was bothering her, making her eyes narrow ever so faintly, one reason for her to dislike him even.
"Why did do it?" Madi asked abruptly, her gaze narrowed now and not once wavering from him. It was fair to say she was an intense child just from the way she stared. "Murphy. Why?" John Murphy was her favourite person from the stories Clarke had told her and it was to be expected that she knew how Bellamy tried to hang his friend but there were still things that needed to be explained. Both brows came up in curiosity when he objected just a little but to quickly. Madi made no effort to be subtle as she tried to lean around him and see what was written on the balls of paper, not that she could with how he had crumbled them so tightly. The young woman made out a few words; I can't express how I feel...
When it proved too difficult to keep peering around him, Madi turned her attention back to him with an soft pout. "Do you think so little of me?" She asked in an impossible quiet voice, purposely making it tremble. "You think that I would come and see my good friend just because I want something from him?"
Madi and Aden had a rather unique relationship. Often she got into trouble, dragging him along with her, and even though he tried to act as her conscious, it didn't normally work. "I'm hurt, Aden." I'M WAKING UP TO ASH AND DUST THIS IS IT, THE APOCALYPSE MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

Madi grinned at the young man he demanded to know if she ever knocked. It was a rhetorical question, she thought, but decided to answer anyway in her usual teasing fashion with him. "No, I don't. Not when I'm expected at least." Except she wasn't expected.
Aden hadn't invited her over, she'd invited herself and had told him as much. Maybe he thought she was kidding...
Without waiting for his permission or a reply, she stepped deeper into the room, watching as he scrambled to gather up the crumbled balls of paper before she could get her hands on them. Okay, that was suspicious.
Madi eyed him. "Aden.. what are you going in here?" I'M WAKING UP TO ASH AND DUST THIS IS IT, THE APOCALYPSE MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

With her finger still trapped in the baby's tiny hand, she looked up at her mother, smiling proudly. Though that smile faded when Clarke explained the meaning behind his name. It wasn't a story her mother had ever told, and there had been many over the past few months. She had never mentioned the baby's father in detail or by name and Madi had to wonder why.
Madi frowned slightly, her gaze drifting back to her new baby brother, who cooed adorably. "Who is his father?" She asked in a soft voice, fearing that the answer would be denied, but also fearing that it would be shared. The secret had been kept for a reason.
"You never talk about him." Madi went on to say, feeling that she needed to explain her curiosity. "Is he important... or someone you don't wish to remember?" Did he pose a threat to the baby, that was a better question. Madi wouldn't let his father take him away. She would protect him. No matter what. Madi tensed when he stepped closer but otherwise did nothing, said nothing, remained entirely still. Her hands were curled into fists at her sides, ready to lash out should he provoke her, but he did nothing but speak in a calm voice. His words were not understood, leaving her squinting at him in confusion.
His name, perhaps. She could recall Clarke having said something similar when they'd first met. Madi lifted her chin as she eyed him up and down, trying to deceiver his foreign words. Judging from his posture she was able to conclude that he didn't mean any harm, and that he was only introducing himself.
She motioned to him. "Baron." And then she mimicked his body language, touching a hand to her chest while staring into his eyes. "Madi Kom Louwoda Kliron Kru." This was a good start. Nice and easy. Safe for the moment.

Her foot was tapping restlessly against the floor as she looked between the man and the exit. He had said something only a moment ago that... was it a question? A threat? Madi hadn't understood him and when she snapped back a reply, it seemed he hadn't understood her either.
They were at an impasse and she was eager to be out from under his gaze, to be away from these people that didn't understand her and whom she didn't understand. But that wasn't an option.
Clarke would be angry; she had insisted that Madi learn their language--had claimed it was both safer for her and more dangerous for their enemies. Madi shifted in her seat, positioned herself so that she could find her feet quickly should the need arise.
Everything about her was tense while the man seemed calmed, indifferent even, entirely undisturbed by her distrusting nature and accusing stare.
He was interesting... unlike any of the Skaikru she had met thus far. "Chon yu bilaik?" Her words were rough, her voice soft as she raised her chin almost in an act of defiance.

He--it was a little boy. Madi breathed out a sigh of relief as her mothers arms wrapped around her and the tension seeped out of her shoulders as she exhaled. Blue-green eyes stared down at the baby, who was so small and innocent, so utterly helpless and dependent on them.
She hated that he had been born into a world that was so unforgiving, so dangerous, so corrupting but she wasn't mad that he had been born. Their family had expanded and she was so happy.
She was happy that the baby was alive and safe, that she had a little brother, that her mother was safe. Carefully she reached out and moved a part of the blanket that was covering his face while still keeping him wrapped up nice and warm. Her heart was so swollen with proud and love, her eyes full of adoration as she stared down at the baby.
"I'm going to take care of you, little brother," she said softly, with a small smile on her lips. The baby took one of her fingers in his hand and squeezed tightly; Madi thought she might cry.
"I'm going to keep you safe." It was a promise. As long as she was alive and at his side, nothing would ever harm him. Madi looked up at her mother. "What are we calling him?"

The spear hit the mark just as Madi knew it would. Her adoptive mother had proven time and time again that she was a good hunter and a born survivor. There were no doubts in the young girls mind that the two of them would survive this winter together.
It would be long and it would be harsh but they would survive. Madi went bounding over to where the animal had fallen, her feet light and almost soundless on the forest floor. She heard what Clarke said but didn't immediately answer.
She set her attention to gathering up their meal and only turned her face to Clarke once the task was done. "There are some plants nearby that we could gather. Berries, herds. We could gathering some beetles too."
Madi wasn't entirely sure exactly what was needed but a little bit of everything would see them through. A little of everything was better then not having enough or not having something when they needed it. "We can get them and then go home."

Night bled into day but Madi hadn't slept at all. She was hiding in the safe space, panic eating at her, suffocating her from the inside out as she worried about her adoptive mother. Her very pregnant adoptive mother... her about to give birth adoptive mother...
Madi had wanted to stay, wanted to help but Clarke--naturally--sent her away. Truth be told the young girl was glad she did. Surviving on a post-apocalyptic earth was one thing, helping deliver a baby was a completely different thing.
Her staying would have made the delivery that much more difficult for Clarke and thus more traumatising for herself. So she had done what she was told and gone to the safe space she and her mother had agreed upon.
She could here in the distance the sounds of distress and and closer her eyes tightly shut, as though that could block out the world. Madi didn't like that her mother was delivering this baby alone. She worried that she wouldn't survive the birth... that the baby wouldn't survive.
She wondered if it would be able to survive, if it would be a natblida like her and Clarke... she wondered if it would be a boy or a girl... wondered what Clarke would call it.
Finally, when sunlight bled over the horizon Madi emerged. She was tense as she made her way back to her mother, frightened of what she might find but the mood lightened when she found her mother humming. Madi couldn't remember a time she saw Clarke this happy.
Almost immediately her attention were drawn to the basket where the baby was. "Is it..." She couldn't bring herself to finish the question. Her heart was in her throat as she looked at her mother with pleading eyes.

This would be the first winter since the second Death Wave had washed over an already ravaged Earth. It was going to be hard to survive it -- there weren't as many resources as there had been only a few months ago, and those that had survived, like her, would be scavenging in preparation of the coming cold.
But it wasn't all bad. Madi was traveling with Clarke now which was... nice, if not a little strange. Madi had grown used to fending for herself, to going where she pleased and doing what she wanted.
Like attacking Clarke for being the fleimkepa... which might had been a little hasty of her. But now, some months passed their turbulent meeting, she had warmed up to the woman.
In fact she quite liked Clarke. She was smart and a born survivor, like her. Madi made a sound, a low whistle, and motioned ahead to where they prey had gone... they would need to finish hunting before nightfall... in a few hours...

It is obvious that she cares deeply for Clarke and in turn Spacekru, who she trusts easily, perhaps too much so. In spite of this Madi is slow to open up to people and doesn't talk much about herself. When she makes a connection it is deep and loyal without fault. She is protective of those she cares for and is willing to do what is necessary to keep them safe.
Fierce, sassy, and on an occasion emotional. She is forgiving, to an extent but there are some things she simply cannot forgive. Intelligent, cunning, and deceptive, Madi is certainly not someone to be underestimated.

Madi was born on Earth, in the town of Shenandoah, and is a member of the Shallow Valley clan. She was orphaned when the second Praimfaya plagued Earth but due to her having been a Nightblood, she survived. For approximately fifty-eight days after this event the young girl lived alone, using the skills she had learned from both parents to survive until she met Clarke Griffin.
Their first encounter was not a pleasant one. Madi assumed that Clarke was a Flamekeeper scout, so she led her into a trap and attacked her. She was intent on killing Clarke but upon realising that she was also a Nightblood stopped the attack and ran away. Over the following six years their relationship continued to develop into a mother-daughter relationship. Clarke taught Madi to speak English, how to drive the rover, and all about the 100's history.
