A few weeks had passed since Faye had first come across Hadley. They spent a lot of time together, mostly in the library but it was time that Faye enjoyed. She still knew she had to get out of there, especially after Jasper had been used to help heal his friend Maya. Now Faye knew why they wanted them around. They wanted to use their blood as treatments instead of the grounders. But there weren't that many of them and there were hundreds of mountain men as far as she knew. Jasper had suggested volunteering for the blood treatments in hopes that it would buy them more time, but Faye knew that wouldn't work. She knew it was only a matter of time before their volunteering wasn't enough and they started taking kids from the dorms. Faye knew she had been idle for too long. She had to do something to help her people, especially now that Clarke wasn't around. So she started snooping more. She should have known that it wouldn't end well. But Faye wasn't exactly focused on what the outcome for herself would be.
She had been outnumbered. Too many mountain men guards had easily overcome her. She was a fighter but not even she could fight against that many guards. They had dragged her to medical, or something like medical since it wasn't the place she had visited Clarke in when she had cut open her arm. This was a private section of medical and Faye didn't see anyone else. It hadn't taken long for them to drug her and tie her up. One of the doctors had said something about not wanting to deal with her being trouble and she had to admit that it was a smart move on their part. Faye would have never stopped fighting. She hissed in pain when they stuck the needles in her arms but after that things got blurry. She was in and out for who knew how long. But all she did know was that she was fucked.

tag: Faye Bates Dr. Bradford Edwards walked around his medical wing adjusting medications as he went. Each patient was recovering from the treatments happening on Level 2. Bradford wasn't proud of what was happening. Hence why he chose to stay on the recovery end. He didn't want anything to do with the actual process. It was torture..and inflicting pain on anyone was not something he was in the business of doing. But he couldn't object to treatments completely. He would lose his job. So as a compromise, he works in recovery.
Seeing a patient low on morphine, he knew he'd have to head down to level 2 to get some more. Letting his team know he'd be back, he left Level 3 and headed up to 2. He walked into the wing, using his badge to gain access and spoke to some of the doctors as he perused the medicinal cabinets. He passed some patients and tried not to look them in the eyes. He was horrified with what was happening to these poor children but he had no control to stop it really.
But then he stopped dead in his tracks. He recognized one of them. She was a friend of his son's. Faye...that was her name. He knew it had to be her. She was drugged beyond belief that much he could tell. He had to find a way to get her out of Level 2 before she went under treatment. He turned to some of the other doctors, they weren't paying much attention. He walked over to her bed and grabbed her chart, writing in some information about treatment. False documentation could get him fired, but no one ever had to know it was him.
Taking her chart with him, he walked back to the group of docs who hadn't even seen him walk away. "That one over there...the girl. She's been under treatment already. I'm going to take her down to my floor....see if we can recover her for another round." He said trying to sound as inconspicuous as possible. They all nodded and went back to conversation, no problems at all.
Taking a deep breath realizing they believed him, he went back to her bed and unlocked the breaks wheeling her to the elevator and back down to 3. He let out a breath he didn't realize he had been holding once he got her safely back to his wing. He parked her bed in the corner away from the other patients. He tucked a piece of hair behind her ear and squeezed her hand gently. "I am so sorry Faye." He whispered. He turned to one of his team. "My son. He works in the elementary classroom. Tell him it's an emergency." The man ran before Bradford could get anything else in.
~~~~~~Hadley~~~~~~~Hadley laughed as one of his students told a joke for their daily show and tell. He looked up when a man, one of his dad's team, ran through the door. "Your father...he says it's an emergency. His wing." The man was out of breath. Hadley had no idea what it could be but it had to be bad if his dad had someone interrupt his class. He excused himself from his kids, having them draw while he had another teacher look in on them.
Running to the elevator, he took the lift to the 3rd floor before finding his father on the wing. "Dad...what's up?" He asked looking around frantically. And then he saw it. He saw her. Her blonde hair sprawled over the pillow, her body looking weak. He ran to the bed and grabbed her hand. "Faye!" He whispered frantically touching her cheek gently. "Oh Faye...how?" He turned to his father angrily. "How did this happen?" Bradford shook his head. "I got to her before they did...she's just drugged....morhpine I think. She should come down soon. But you have to get her out of medical before they find her. Take her to your apartment and lock the doors. Don't let anyone in until I know this has passed." Hadley nodded his head.
Standing up, he wrapped his arms under Faye's neck and knees before drawing her close to his chest. He nodded once to his father and made his way to the lifts again and down to level 6. He had to get her safe before anyone saw him with a body. Finally inside his apartment, doors locked, he carefully placed her on his bed. Looking down at the frail and beautiful girl before him he couldn't believe this had happened. He said he would keep her safe and she had almost been taken. He tucked a piece of hair behind her ear and stroked her cheek gently. "I'm so sorry Faye" He whispered and kissed her cheek softly.
Pulling the blankets up over her small body, he went to the kitchen to grab her some water in case she woke up. But he wasn't sure when that would be. Coming back, he laid next to her waiting for her to wake...but soon he too fell asleep, his arm over her waist protecting her from anything else that might come their way.
Faye was in and out of consciousness for a while. She saw bits and pieces of faces and she could have sworn she saw Hadley's face at one point. But that wasn't right. He was teaching. There was no reason for him to be in medical. Unless . . . no. He said he would try to keep her safe and she knew he wouldn't betray her. She had trusted him and she still trusted him. But maybe she had just been dreaming. She knew she was heavily drugged so there was no telling what was real and what wasn't.
At one point, she felt her eyes open slowly and she realized she wasn't in medical anymore. She was somewhere else. Somewhere she didn't recognize. Faye felt something on her waist and she realized that it was warm, then she saw that there was something warm next to her as well. She tried to move onto her side so she could see what it was, but she barely had the strength. She whimpered as she struggled but relaxed when she saw that it was Hadley. Had the entire thing been a dream? Had she dreamt that she had been taken? "Hadley?" She whispered, placing a hand on his shoulder in an attempt to wake him up.
tag: Faye BatesHadley wasn't sure how long he had been asleep. But when he heard her whimper and felt someone shake him awake, he woke right up. His eyes opened and he saw her. His name on her lips was the most beautiful noise next to her laugh. She was awake...she was moving. "Faye?" He asked softly and sat up. "You're okay..." He whispered more to assure himself than her really. He wasn't sure she was going to wake up so soon. But she did.
He placed his hand on her cheek gently. "Hi.." He said softly and smiled down at her. "You're in my apartment...I-I hope that's okay." He said keeping his eyes on her. "It was the only safe place to take you...they...they will come looking for you eventually." He wasn't going to let anything happen to her. "I'm so sorry Faye...so sorry that I even let them take you." He whispered.
Hadley knew there was nothing he could do. It wasn't like he could have kept her by his side every minute of every day, but he said he was going to protect her and he shouldn't have let her get as far as medical drugged up and almost tortured. That was the last thing he wanted for her. "I'm so sorry." He said again looking down away from her. He hated the feeling of having hurt her.
Once she was more aware of her surroundings, she stopped trying to move or sit up. She put her head back down and knew it would probably be awhile before she could really move. But she felt antsy, which was a little ironic considering the fact that there were still parts of her body that she couldn't even really feel. He told her that she was in his apartment and she felt his hand on her cheek. She leaned into his touch slightly and closed her eyes for a minute. He was right. They would come looking for her eventually and she didn't want Hadley to get into trouble for taking her here. She would have to leave as soon as she was able to. "You shouldn't have taken me here," Faye said. "I don't want you to get into trouble." They could torture her all they wanted but she would feel horrible if they did something to him because of her.
He continued to apologize and she shook her head. This wasn't his fault. There was no reason for him to apologize. She knew he had promised to keep her safe to the best of his ability, but even she knew it was just a nice gesture. There wasn't anything he could actually do. "Stop apologizing," she said. "This was out of your control. Besides, it was probably my fault. I was trying to find a way to get us out of here." She didn't know how much longer her people had in here. He looked away and she sighed. Faye put all of her strength into sitting up, her back leaning against the headboard of his bed. "Hey," she said, reaching out and touching his hand, squeezing it lightly. "It's not your fault," Faye insisted.
tag: Faye BatesHadley shook his head. "I'm not letting you go back out there. Who knows what they'll do to you if they find out you've escaped. I'll be okay...My father is high enough to protect me...but I can't let you get hurt." He said fearing that anything bad could happen to her at any moment. She was not leaving his apartment if he could help it. Not until he knew things were safe.
When she told him to stop apologizing and she started to blame herself. He looked up at her. "This isn't your fault Faye...it's not any of your fault...you or the other kids. This is all their fault. They took you. They made you weak. This isn't your fault. I promise." He looked down at her hands when she grabbed his. As she weakly sat up, he pushed himself to sit next to her and let her rest on him. "You're still weak...." He whispered against her hair.
The site of Faye so broken really made him angry. How could they take someone against their will and hurt them like this? She hadn't even been under treatment. Imagine if she had, he'd be red hot with rage. But thankfully his father got to him in time. "Do you need anything?" He whispered, tracing patterns on her hand that he held in his own.
She had to resist the urge to roll her eyes at him as he told her that she wasn't going anywhere. Apparently, he didn't know her as well as he thought he did. If she wanted to leave, then she would leave. It may not be in that very moment, but eventually that's what she would have to do. "I can't hide out in your apartment forever," she pointed. Besides, she knew they would conduct a search if things got really bad and it wasn't like they had forests to go hide in. Faye knew that his father was important, but he may not be if they found out he had been responsible for Hadley taking her out of there.
A light laugh left her lips when he stated that she was still weak. Yeah, she knew that. She could feel it and she hated it. There was no feeling in the world that she hated more than weakness. She had prided herself on her strength ever since landing on the ground and now she didn't have it. It was yet another thing the mountain had deprived her of. Nevertheless, she leaned against him as he sat up next to her and even went so far as to rest her head on his shoulder. "No," she said to his offer. She was just tired but she was afraid to go back to sleep. The feeling of his fingers tracing patterns on her hand felt relaxing and her eyes watched as he did that. "I have to get them out of here," Faye whispered after a moment of silence. She didn't want this to happen to anyone else.
tag: Faye BatesHadley chuckled at her response. He knew that being hidden and weak had to be hard for her. He had found her strong personality appealing and quite attractive. But he knew this was hard. "You can stay here until my father figures out a way to deter the search for you. He's already started trying to find a way to get them off your trail. But you can't be running around the Mountain. They'll find you again. Let him figure out how to deal with your medical records. We'll make sure you're safe. But you have to trust us." He said continuing the patterns on her hand.
He heard her whisper the words and he sighed. "I know...I'm sorry..sorry that my people aren't better people. That they're okay with hurting their own kind. I'm sorry that you're not safe here..I wish you were.." He whispered back. "You know I'd never hurt you right?" He said sitting up and looking down into her eyes. "Never..." He ran his thumb over her cheek again.
He would never quite know what exactly it was about Faye, but he was captivated by her. She was nothing like the woman here. She wasn't afraid of anyone or anything despite what she had been through. He was in awe of her even so weak as she was now. But he would continue to protect her in any way that he could.
Faye was thankful for his father and knew that she would have to thank him in person at some point. She didn't know how she was going to repay him but she knew that she had to do something. The man had risked his job and quite possibly his life in order to help her. Faye wouldn't have died from the transfusion but if they did it enough she knew it was very possible. But Faye nodded her head, agreeing to at least stay until his father could come up with something. But if too many days passed by then she knew she would have to leave. She couldn't let them take advantage of her friends. "I do trust you," Faye reminded him. She didn't want him to think that she didn't, because she truly did. It was strange since she hadn't known him that long and her trust was hard to earn, but he certainly had it.
Looking into his eyes, she could see how torn up he was about the whole thing. He was probably more upset about it than she was. "I know," she said, nodding her head. She felt his hand on her cheek and she displayed a small smile. He was so sincere and caring and she wasn't sure what she had done to deserve such a thing.Without thinking, Faye leaned forward and pressed her lips to his in a soft kiss. It was quick and when she pulled away, she looked down for a minute before looking back up at him. "Thank you, again."
tag: Faye BatesHadley was happy to hear that she did in fact trust him. He did care for her. And the mere thought of her being unsafe or hurt was enough to make him mad. But she had to know that he was doing everything he possibly could to make her safe. He wished he could do it for all of the delinquents but he knew that was near impossible. He was already risking too much just protecting her. His father could only save so many. Faye only made it out because his father recognized her. The others? They weren't as lucky.
Seeing her face break out into a smile, he himself smiled back. She was so pretty without even trying. He was falling for her more and more by the minute. Suddenly he felt her lips on his. He closed his eyes for the moment that the kiss lasted. He barely had time to kiss her back before her lips were gone. He felt a blush rise to his cheeks and saw her look away. He chuckled softly. At her thanks, he smiled and cupped her cheek again gently. "You're welcome Faye..." He whispered and kissed her forehead.
Pulling back almost as quickly as she did, he looked down into her eyes. "You're beautiful..." He said gently and searched her eyes with his. "Absolutely beautiful." He snaked an arm around her waist and turned to face her. "Would you be opposed if I kissed you this time?" He smirked innocently and kept his eyes on her. He knew she was weak but he wanted to feel her lips again. He wanted to just feel her in his arms. Knowing she was safe was all he needed.
His lips pressed to her forehead and she closed her eyes and smiled. The gesture had always brought her comfort. Her mother had done it often when she had been a child and so had her father. It was nice coming from people she cared about. It was a sign of affection that she would never tire of. Faye looked at him as he told her she was beautiful and she rolled her eyes with a laugh. Faye had never been insecure about her looks but she had never obsessed over them either. Looks weren't important in the Ark; survival was.
Feeling his arm move around her waist, she looked up at him and nodded her head. "I wouldn't be opposed to that," she said to him, a soft chuckle leaving her lips. Leave it to a life or death situation to make people confess their feelings or realize how they felt about someone. Faye had always liked Hadley but this was different. She didn't want to let him go and she knew she would have to someday. Because he couldn't go outside and she wouldn't stay in the mountain. So she knew she had to cherish the time that they together.
tag: Faye BatesHadley smiled and practically melted at her laugh. "Laugh all you want...I think you're gorgeous." He chuckled along with her. Anything to hear her laugh. He would fall down a flight a stairs to hear the sound. But when her eyes looked up at his, he felt his breath catch in his throat. Her eyes seemed to be boring into his. At her response, he smiled. At least she wasn't a one and done kind of kisser. That would have been quite an embarrassing moment for him. Though he had already been embarrassing in front of her. It wouldn't have been anything new.
But now with her permission, he gently held her waist with one hand and her cheek with the other. Leaning down he pressed his lips against hers in a soft kiss. He wasn't sure how long they stayed in that embrace but when he pulled back he was afraid to open his eyes thinking the whole thing had been a dream. Opening his eyes he smiled seeing Faye there. Knowing this was real. This beautiful woman was in his arms and safe. She wasn't only in his arms, she was in his bed. Nothing about this situation was normal for Hadley, but with Faye it seemed more than okay.
"How are you feeling?" He asked, his lips still brushing over hers gently. He didn't want this feeling to go away but he knew that sooner or later it would. But for as long as he could, he would hold onto her. She was worth holding on to.
He kissed her and she felt his arm wrap around her waist again. Faye breathed into the kiss, placing one of her hands on his shoulder. He pulled away and she smiled, even if she wasn't looking at him in that moment. He asked if she was feeling better and she slowly felt the drugs wearing off. She wasn't in fighting shape or anything but she was feeling better. Maybe she could stand up if she tried, but she didn't feel like leaving the bed. She didn't feel like leaving the bed with Hadley in it. She liked being wrapped in his arms. She liked kissing him. She liked making him blush.
"I'm fine being here with you," Faye said. She wrapped her arms around him and leaned into his touch. She sighed contently. She felt safe in his arms, even if she knew she wasn't actually safe in mount weather. She looked up at him and pressed a kiss to his jaw and then another to his lips. She thought about what it would be like when she left his apartment. She wondered if they would still be like this or if they would go back to simply flirting and laughing together.
tag: Faye BatesHadley smiled at her response. He was glad she was feeling better, but he was even happier that he was making her happy. Having her in his arms was certainly making him happy that was for sure. As he felt her lips on his jaw and then his own lips again, he smiled against her lips and kissed her back, wrapping his arms around her waist securely. He turned his body towards hers and continued the kiss.
He wasn't sure what was to become of them. But whatever was happening right now was more than okay with him. He was so content having her there with him. It wasn't every day that he had a woman in his bed. He wasn't exactly an expert on women. But with Faye it seemed easy to let down his guard and let her in. He could tell she was breaking down her walls too. And he was okay with that.
Pulling back from the kiss, he tucked another piece of hair behind her ear and smiled. "I wish we could have done this on different circumstances..." He looked down at her. "Like a date....or anything other than what happened today." He chuckled a bit. "But it isn't too late to turn this around....if you wanted that is?" He asked timidly. "I have wine or tea if that's more your thing and movies and well this" He gestured around to his room and laughed again. "We can at least make something out of you being stuck here." He offered it to her. If she wanted to turn this into something positive, he would be more than willing to make it worth her while.
Different circumstances would have been ideal, but Faye wasn't so sure things would have progressed the way they had. It was the near death experience that brought them together. Faye's feelings were still real, but she knew she would have been too focused on getting her people out of the mountain. There's no way she would have allowed herself to become as attached to Hadley as she currently was. "Turn it around?" She asked, an amused expression on her face. "One would think that having a woman in your bed would be a good thing." She was teasing him, but Faye couldn't help it. Hadley was making it too easy for her.
He mentioned a few things and she shrugged. "I've never had wine or tea," she said. "We didn't have it on the Ark. There was illegal moonshine occasionally, but even that was hard to come by." And Faye had only had it once or twice on the Ark. It had been a bit more available on the ground though. Faye laughed lightly when he gestured to his room. She knew he didn't mean it in that way, but she couldn't help herself. "Are you trying to sleep with me?" She asked, an eyebrow raised in question. After a moment, she grinned at him. "Sorry. Just teasing. You make it too easy," Faye explained, leaning up and pressing another kiss to his lips. She just couldn't stop kissing him.
