Nicolette was training with Braeden as preparation to go to the Ground. It was vigorous work, but she enjoyed it. Today she had been complemented on her work many times, which made her feel great. Sometimes she just needed that extra shove in the right direction to make life good. She was sparring with Braeden, throwing punches left and right, breathes coming out in pants. In the corner of her eyes she could see the last people leaving, waving their goodbye's. She wasn't ready to stop yet. "Is it ok if we keep going? I feel like I'm on a roll." She asked Braeden as she took a pause to wipe the sweat from her brow.
They had been training for a few weeks now, and she had felt more alive than ever. It had been a while since she had had to do proper training, as she got her guardsmanship about 3 years ago. She hadn't realised she missed it until she had started again. Soon though they would be on their way to the ground, and their training would be put to use. The prospect was both scary and exciting. She didn't have any family or friends, so her choice to volunteer was easy, she was curious about the ground, and she absolutely wanted to help in any way possible. This was her chance.

Braeden was a woman in a mission. She has spent most of her life trying to live up to her father's reputation, and only recently had she been seeing proof that the Ark took her as more then her father. She was determined, driven, and focused--which was why she was going to be the commander of the guard on the ground--the first guard on the ground in 100 years. She would be on the council, and in the highest position that someone like her could become. As long as nothing broke her focused then it would be her name int he history books--not her father's. "Is it ok if we keep going? I feel like I'm on a roll." Nicolette, one of the guards that she was training with to go down to the ground asked.
There was nothing alive on the ground to fear, everything had died out when the bombs dropped, but when you took 100 people down you needed the guard to be there to handle anything they might through out at you. With there ONLY being 100 people on the ground, you needed every single life--which was why learning to take down with out a weapon was important. "Yeah," She said taking a deep breath, "We're good." Soon she would stop for water and food, because she knew after training all day that if she didn't eat something she'd be cranky tonight.

When Braeden agreed, Nic just smiled happily. She felt great when she was training. There was something exhilarating about it. Something that was just so purely mind and body. You just acted. She liked that. She got in the ready stance, holding her fists up. She enjoyed training with Braeden. Maybe because Braeden wanted to prove something, and it showed in her skills, or maybe because she was also a woman. Nic admired that. For her being a guard was just a dream. There was no other reason for it. But Braeden was a different story all together. And Nic liked that, that they were so different, yet here they were on the same mission: To go to the ground. Of course the other women's job was much more important than her own, but that didn't stop Nic from trying to be the best at what HER job was.
