There had been whispers among the clans ever since the arrival of Skaikru. Each clan filled with intrigue and curiosity. Nia saw threat. It was why they had been quick to attack when they arrived upon Azegda territory. Trikru had not hesitated either. And now, the weak commander was attempting to make peace. Nia was hardly impressed. She wanted Lexa gone and had her own way of ensuring that . . . but then, Skaikru wished to talk. And she would be a fool to not hear what they had to say. Even if it served Azgeda's interests poorly.
When the man walked into the room, Nia looked over him, not moving from her seated position upon the throne. "You are fortunate I have not yet ripped it out your tongue to keep you from doing so." Her words not said with zeal or anger, but rather, unnerving calmness. "What brings you here Marcus Kane of Skaikru?" She did not wish to waste time. She knew he came here to speak of peace. He damn well have something good to offer Azgeda. After all, what could they possibly desire from Skaikru?

To say that Nia was furious would be an understatement. Her hatred for Lexa had grown to proportions she had not thought possible. It fuelled her burning desire to see her reign come to an end but . . . patience was imperative in this situation. As was rationality. If their clan was to wiped out, there would be no more Azgda. Everything she had done for the nation, would be meaningless. Worthless. So yes, this was really the only option they had to ensure their survival. Politically, it was their only move. But it made it no easier to let her son go. A son that would be -- should be -- the air to the Azgeda throne. But now, he was forced into exile. Nia knew exactly why. It would weaken Azgeda, especially if Lexa found a way to kill the queen.
But Nia had a secret weapon, and she intended to strike with it -- with Ontari -- when the time was right. For now however, she had to deliver the devastating news to her son. Nia was no fool, she also was well aware that this was revenge for Costia but still. The queen was infuriated. As she entered the throne room, her son was already there waiting for her return to their nation from Polis. "Leave us," she demanded to the others. Her tone was not one to be trifled with so they did not question it. She had not yet told anyone of the terms as her son would be the first to know. But she was well aware of how quickly news would travel.

SHE'S GOING TO CATCH A COLD
This was not at all what Nia had in mind for Azgeda. She had once intended Ice Nation to rule, hence her plans with Ontari. Her hope had rested with the young Nightblood who proved to be weak. The second hope rested in her son, Roan, who also failed to be victorious in the conclave. If there was one thing that was reinforced in Nia's mind, it was to never rely on another. If you wanted something done, you had to do it yourself. Both whom she had once thought to be great warriors, failed miserably. And now they were stuck being led by a little Sky girl.
Which was precisely why Nia needed to stay close to the one they called Octavia. She was lost. Nia could see it on her face. Kane was among those who provided counsel, but Nia needed to do what was best for her own people. To hold the control over the others. Such was not easy when they were within the walls of their enemies. Speaking of, the leader of Trikru came into sight and Nia slightly titled her chin upward at the image of her. Indra.
The long awaited final battle that Nia had anticipated between the clans never occurred, and she had doubts it would take place within the walls of the bunker. So what remained, was tension and unfinished business. "Indra," he responded with matched disdain. Her eyes did not miss the position of Indra hands and a hint of a sinister smirk appeared on Nia's features. "Come come now, we are Wonkru are we not?" The words dripped with sarcasm and clear dislike for the word and notion. But, Nia could not resist the mockery.

"I thought someone should tell you that your mother died."
The words were said without an ounce of remorse. They were cold and insensitive. And it served the family right. Nia rose from her throne, taking a few steps towards the young woman who's eyes glistened with tears. "And it was I who gripped the sword that killed her," Nia added on, figuring the woman would have realized that by now. Nia continued to approach her, before she circled her. Like a predator circling it's prey. Within the room was one of Nia's valuable warriors and spies: Abra. Along with a couple of guards.
"It seems she was involved with Trikru." Any interactions with them were suspicious, especially when done in such secrecy. Nia could practically see the tremble within the young woman, aware of what was coming. "Or at least that is what my sources tell me." Nia glanced at Abra, before turning back to the woman. "Were they wrong?" She questioned, a chilling sweetness in her voice that was truly anything but sweet. "Why don't you tell her Abra, what we uncovered about her coward of a mother." Who was now dead.

SHE'S GOING TO CATCH A COLD
I would love to have an Ontari on the site and explore her and Nia's dysfunctional relationship! We could have threads where she is raising Ontari, ones where they are in Polis during the vote of no confidence, and of course AUs where Ontari doens't die . . . exploring different possible scenarios such as: what if Ontari was Heda while Nia was still alive, and so on. It could also be fun to develop their backstory and such!
Anyway, hope someone will be tempted to take her! I will definitely be offering all the Nia threads I can possibly think of!

SHE'S GOING TO CATCH A COLD
This was what Nia had been waiting for her entire life. The Queen of Azgeda had never favored Lexa. Not when she forced her hand to join this coalition when Nia had worked tirelessly to strengthen Azgeda to what it was. Not when she forced her to banish her only heir. Not when she forced everyone to flee the mountain without proper vengeance and justice for all those fallen. And not when she allowed a missile to fall on Tondc. Nia was far from naive. She knew her hatred toward the woman would be futile without proper support. And now, that was exactly what she worked for. Support, from the other clans who were of a similar mind.
Well, most of them. Right now, she was finishing a war that had lasted far too long. She wished to crush Trikru, once and for all. And with it, claim the lands, its people . . . and then overthrow Lexa to add her secret Nightblood onto the throne. One that would easily win the conclave. Finally, all of Nia's plans were falling into place. Her years of patience -- or somewhat patience -- was finally paying off. The recent killing of the Chief brought with it new fears. They would take the next course of action, though Nia had to remain mindful of the people's loyalty. She would demand it; evoke fear from them . . . but it would take time. And time may not be something that they had.
While skimming over a map, a voice broke her concentration as she looked at her tent opening, the flaps covering the entrance, yet the voice was clear. Just as was the agitation on the Queen's features. A woman, demanding an audience. Her warriors would already have her in their sights, so Nia remained unafraid. She stepped outside her tent, weapon at her side, but more importantly, warriors around her to maintain protection. Nia looked at the woman. She looked . . . unimpressive. But then, most everyone that was deemed her enemy looked as such.
"You dare come to my camp and make demands?" She said, her tone unnerving. Not raised, but it held a strength. The same kind that could be followed by ruthless actions she was well known for. "I should have your tongue for uttering such insolence." The thought of cutting it out rather appealing. "But before I give in to temptation, speak now." She was not holding much patience toward this woman. "Out with it! You wear my patience thin, child." A term of mockery. For she looked young.

Nia was on a mission. The end goal, to overthrow the current Heda. That part was no secret to those she divulged her plans to. It was the small matter of her own hidden Nightblood that was an addition to this plan. One that would not be revealed until the conclave. Ever since Nia was forced to banish her son, ever since she was forced to witness the naive child on the Heda's throne . . . her animosity grew.
The war against Trikru still festered, but right now, her war against Lexa took precedence. Particularly after the events of Mount Weather. A chance to claim vengeance. Blood must have blood. Forever ripped from their grasp. Nia knew her own Azgeda warriors would rather die than flee like cowards. Like they were forced to.
This, would surely be what made the others lose favor and faith in their Heda. And this, was what Nia had been waiting for all these years. The opportune moment, to rally the support of the other clans. Which brought her to Yujleda. She knew of them of course. And believe she could gain their support in her plan for a coup once everything else was set in motion.
She approached main gates, her gait confident, flanked by her Azgeda soldiers. "I am Queen Nia of Azgeda," she stated with a strong voice. "And I am here to speak to Emperor Kiawah of Yujleda." Her words were practically a command, expecting an audience with him; demanding it, rather than requesting. The gates were opened to her as she began to step inside, while her soldiers were forced to surrender their weapons.
Nia nodded for them to comply. She did not come here to start a war . . . for once. Motioning for only two of her warriors to accompany her, they stood on either side as she was escorted through the main doors, revealing the Emperor. She had no tension with Kiawah. He nor his clan had ever been cause for concern for her.
She had no intention of changing that. "I come to share condolence . . . for what occurred at Mount Weather." The words, a way of sensing where Kiawah stood. Whether he approved of Lexa's actions or whether he, like some others -- with any hope all of the others -- were in disapproval of her acts.

Ontari's initially stammered words were aggravating. Igniting an annoyance in Nia which was never a good thing. She was ready to strike her should she not speak better. This could not be all those years of training she had put into the future Heda. But Nia waited, watching Ontari with a cold gaze. And fortunately for the young woman, she rectified her statement. Fixed it. Spoke with more confidence and authority as it filled the room. Nia slightly tilted her chin up with satisfaction. The man groveling at her knees practically trembling with fear. "So be it then," Nia spoke. No pride or praise came into her tone.
Why should she offer Ontari either when this is what was to be expected of her. There was only anger in her failures. "And by what means shall he be executed?" Nia questioned. Azgeda of course had a reputation for being ruthless. For their methods of torture. She was curious to see how far Ontari would go in carrying out the sentence. Whether she would show mercy and be swift in death. Or whether she would do justice to Azgeda's name and reputation that Nia had fought tirelessly to build. One was clearly the weaker decision than the other.

Nia had always known that her time would come. That one day, she would rally the others to join the fight against Lexa. Against the weak commander that Nia had never wanted on the throne. Fortunately, Skaikru played a significant part in this. With each decision that Lexa made to favor them, the others came to offer their opposition of this. Acts against the very culture. Although, Nia supposed that Mount Weather and the refusal for justice also played a part. Whatever the singular event, or the series of them, support was growing. And Nia was quite pleased with this. A guard came in to announce that someone requested an audience.
Nia gave a sharp nod of her head, her gaze as icy cold as always as the woman was brought in. She slightly tilted her head upward as the woman introduced herself, speaking of her displeasure for the Commander. Nia knew that the risk of spies was immense. And the queen was not that stupid. She eyed the woman, her gaze unrevealing. "And what can you possibly offer use for, Jaga of Trikru?" She questioned in their language. Her words were not anything but a blunt inquiry, an underlying insult. Nia surrounded herself with people of use. What purpose could this woman have. Her grievance was enough in terms to add her as a warrior, but she did not look trained enough to be one. So, the question remained . . . what purpose could she serve Queen Nia?

Nia listened to Echo speak. She had been at her side long enough, that Nia knew when she tasked her with something, she would complete. "No, she will not kill Wanheda," Nia said, aware of this. Besides, if Lexa was after Wanheda's power, then the Skaikru girl would already be dead by now. And her spies would have informed her of such. She knew it was not about obtaining Wanheda's power, but rather, preventing Nia from getting it.
"She is afraid," Nia further continued. "Weak. And others know it." This had been what Nia was waiting for. The time to strike back, with the support of the others in the coalition. Leaving Mount Weather in tact, their enemies unavenged, while seen as weakness, was Nia's strength. And she took full advantage of that. "Skaikru has started to populate the Mountain," Nia further revealed. Her spies were her asset, and she was required to stay well informed.
She even had a very valuable spy. A surviving man of the Mountain. She would have tortured him to make up for all the deaths . . . but keeping him alive was far more valuable than killing him. Even Nia knew when to use death and when not to. Perhaps when his usefulness was over, she would kill him.
For now, she needed him breathing and talking. "An assassin will be sent to destroy it." With everyone inside. "Let it be a message to Lexa and her so called allies." It was more due to her hatred for Lexa, than her hatred for Skaikru. But as they were allied with her, they too would suffer the consequences of committing to such an alliance.

It was fairly evident that neither of them were pleased with each other. But as much as Nia disapproved of Lexa's rule and her decisions . . . she knew the commander was not stupid enough to kill her. Though, it was still possible she supposed. Especially with that dagger that she stroked, so casually resting on her lap. As if a reminder that she could strike Nia at any time.
But she was not about to act anything apart from strong. Nia's only regret, was that she didn't torture Lexa's lover more. That she didn't send her in more pieces than just her head. Because if this was what would come of it, then Nia would have taken far more time with the little Trikru brat. If only to maximize Lexa's pain. Her question demanded a straight forward answer, which was expected. And something that Nia wouldn't prefer otherwise. Then again . . . she preferred none of this.
"You may banish Roan." As if giving Lexa permission to do so. As if Nia controlled the actions, which she knew she did not. Either option was not good. But she had to do what was best for Azgeda. And soon, she would have ultimate power. Lexa would not remain on the throne. Ontari would soon take her position and then everything else would fall into place.
"Azgeda will be part of the coalition," she added on, continuing to act as if she had made the decision . . . which she did. But just, not with the terms she wanted. Lexa had exercised her power and Nia despised that. She had worked so damn hard to strengthen Azgeda. and now she was forced to submit them to a coalition to create peace. Revolting. Utterly revolting.
