Rylee closed her eyes and smiled when he pulled her into his arms. She was comfortable there and it felt okay to want to be there. After everything she had been through, in life, not just today, it felt okay to be in another man’s arms and actually enjoy it. As he whispered in her ear, a welcomed chill ran up her spine at the sound. At his words, she opened her eyes and looked into his as he moved the hair out of her eyes.



“You need to sleep too…I think I’d sleep better knowing you were sleeping too…I promise I’ll make it through the night…” She smiled softly and placed her hand on his cheek gently. “I haven’t had a good night sleep since we got down here…since I was put in the SkyBox..” She shook her head gently. “But I think tonight could be different…” She just had a feeling that falling asleep in Atom’s arms would be nothing but comforting to her. She’d be in a real bed. She’d be warm. And she’d be happy. That could make all the difference.



When he gazed into her eyes and spoke again, she smiled at what he said. “I would love that…” She said softly and leaned in and kissed him gently. She pulled back and rested against him gently. As he ran his hands up and down her arms, she smiled and knew that she was going to be more than happy tonight.



Rylee reluctantly got out of his arms and laid down in his bed, under the blankets and smiled at the warmth. She looked up at him. “Please…you need sleep too…” She lifted the blanket up for him to join her. “I promise I’ll be okay…” She assured him again. She gave him her innocent smile again and waited for him to join her…..

Rylee was glad her mention of his kissing caused another kiss to come her way. She was slowly becoming addicted to his lips and saw no problem with that. When he pulled her close, she closed her eyes and sighed happily at his words about protecting her. As he pushed her hair from her eyes, she smiled at his own smile and then looked away biting her lip. She was falling harder and faster than she had expected.



At his question she turned her eyes back to him, shaking her head. “No…I’m fine..” She smiled again as he kissed her forehead. Wrapping the blanket tighter around her shoulders she looked up at him. “I’m just cold is all…” She smiled innocently. “I think you’re the only one who can fix that…” She spoke softly and bit her bottom lip again, a nervous tactic but it always came out especially when she was flirting with boys. But this time…it was genuine.



She sat back on her bottom on his bed and looked up at him waiting to see what he would do next. Would he kiss her? Would he hold back? What would happen? She knew that nothing crazy was going to happen between them after having just met…but she was into whatever was happening. Her heart was beating out of her chest in anticipation..

Rylee let him take her hand and put it back on his cheek. She smiled as he held it there. His words made her blush. And then he kissed her nose. She laughed softly. He was so playful and she loved that about him. She wasn’t pressured to do anything or be anything. She could just be herself…gosh she nearly died in front of him and he still treated her like a normal human. He called her beautiful again and then her blush returned.



She looked into his eyes and smiled nodding her head gently. “Yeah…I think that sounds perfect…” She kissed his lips. She didn’t want to stop, but she knew if she didn’t stop now, they’d never make it to his quarters. And she wanted nothing more than to be alone with him.It wasn’t that she was heart set on anything happening, but being alone with him sounded better than ever right about now.



Rylee gently stood up off of Atom’s lap, reluctant to be out of his arms, and ran her hands up and down her arms to get herself warm again. She stood in front of him. “We better hurry to your quarters…because I’m getting cold again.” She smirked gently and stuck her hand out to him waiting to be taken away. She bit her lip in anticipation.

Rylee closed her eyes as Atom’s hand drew her head closer to his chest. She gladly welcomed not only the comfort, but the warmth it provided. She hadn’t felt this cared for in who knows how long…and being in Atom’s arms certainly made it that much more enjoyable. At the touch of his lips to her head, she smiled and relaxed in his arms, despite the fact that her heart was racing at the storm outside. But he made it better…



As he lifted her face to look at him, her eyes searched his. His words made her heart flutter…but his next action sent her on a roller coaster of emotions. Feeling his lips against hers, she barely had time to react before they were gone. She touched her lips gently and then smiled to herself. So something was happening…but nothing needed to be said on the topic. His kiss just solidified that. Whatever this something was…it was happening.



The storm suddenly got worse and when the bunker lit up, she squeaked softly and got as close to Atom as she could. She felt him lift her up, effortlessly, into his lap and she appreciated the closeness. She was still a bit shorter than him despite being on his lap, but at least she was closer to his face this time. Rylee looked into his eyes and placed her hand on his cheek gently thinking back to the words he had just spoken, prior to him causing her heart to go into shock with his lips.



“I just don't understand how you felt you could throw it all on the line for me...no one down here would have ever done that for me...You…you could have died..” She nervously studdered out in a whisper. “But I’m so glad you didn’t.” She took that chance and pressed her lips against his this time…what did she have to lose?

Rylee smiled to herself when Atom took her hand in response. She was glad her action wasn't taken wrongly. The rain was definitely torrential but she was safe as long as there was no thunder or lightening. She looked up at him and smiled again as he grabbed a blanket and put it over them. He was smart to think of that. She began leading him towards her quarters, a room at the back of the drop ship. It was small, but it worked. The girl she was assigned to live with was hardly there…always sleeping around. Not that she could blame her, there were plenty of men to “talk to” around the camp now. Atom included.



But before they got there, thunder and lightning struck. She let out a soft squeak and pressed her body into Atom’s. She looked up at him. “Sorry…” She released her grip a bit. “I am terrified of thunder and lightning.” At his words of getting inside, she nodded softly and led him quickly inside to the back towards her room.



She pulled back the curtain that separated her room from the hall and went inside. “Home sweet home…” She laughed softly. A shiver ran up her spine. It was suddenly cold from the rain and the lack of heat in the drop ship. She looked through the spare clothes that she and her “roommate” had from the ship and tried to find anything dry. Finding another tank top and shorts, she pulled them out.



“I’m going to change…if that’s okay with you?” She asked, a trace of a smile on her lips. She turned around and pulled her shirt over her head, her back to him. She wasn’t going to bother to change her bra. It would dry soon enough. Pulling the new tank top over her head, she was happy to be dry. She slipped her pants off, and then quickly put on the shorts. Turning around, she smiled again. “There…” She said as she pulled her hair up into a bun on her head, out of her face.



Rylee grabbed the blanket and went over to her bed, wrapping herself in it as she sat on the mattress. She looked over at Atom and let one side of the blanket fall open. “Care to join me?” She asked. “It’s much warmer sharing a blanket with someone else….” She looked up at him timidly. Why was she nervous all of a sudden, she didn’t know. But it wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. "Plus I really don't want to sit through this storm alone..."
