Rylee nodded her head when Clarke explained her reasoning. She knew the last few days had been heated because someone from the Ark had made it down to the Ground. Raven? Something like that. Rylee wasn't really that good with names especially of people she hadn't met before. But Clarke she knew....Clarke worked with her mom in the clinic on the Ark and Rylee worked in the clinic with one of her dad's friends training to become a medical nurse. She picked up one of the berries and squished on a leaf watching the bright red liquid stain the green plant. She rubbed the liquid between two of her fingers to see if anything would happen. "I managed to find about 6 or 7 bushes loaded with these berries while out exploring today...I have no idea what they are or if they are safe yet...but I before I grabbed them, I saw two Grounders eating them and when they moved on, I moved to where they were and grabbed what I could before they came back. Made sure to make it look like no one had passed through, covered my tracks you know?" She saw that there was no reaction from the liquid and rubbed some on the top of her hand to see if would react once in her pores. Rylee sighed "I know there has to be some kind of herb out there that we can use for antidotes...I know the Grounders have one...There is no way they haven't found one after all of these years...They have to have something they use for medication." She pulled her knees into a criss cross and smirked when the liquid hadn't caused any burning on her skin. That was a good sign...this could mean a food source...or something useful at least.

Rylee had just gotten back from one of her daily excursions into the surrounding woods carrying a bag of berries, when she saw the flares go up. She knew they were trying to communicate with the Ark. She sighed. She would love to see her father again, but she feared that that dream was far from coming true. She was heartbroken at the idea of being alone, but she had to stay strong for him and keep going. He would want her to use all he taught her.
She made her way back into the drop ship, her pack in hand as she climbed to the third level. She always brought her medical supplies up there. Being away from the noise and being able to focus gave her a better shot on examining and correctly identifying what was safe to use and what wasn't. She set herself up by one of the lights and started to unpack what she had. Rylee gasped suddenly because she heard the door open, but settled back down when she realized it was one of their "leaders", Clarke. She continued what she was doing until Clarke spoke to her. She hadn't realized that Clarke even knew she was there.
"Uh, sure." Rylee stood and took her lamp bringing it closer to Clarke's set up. She put the lamp down near Clarke and moved back to grab her supplies, setting up show across from Clarke so that they could share the light. "Find anything worth while?" She asked examining some deep ruby red berries she had found North of the camp. She knew they were safe...because she saw Grounders eating them only moments before she stumbled across them, but she had to be sure they were safe for people who hadn't ever stepped foot on the Ground.

Rylee scoffed at how he just told her off. She knew that he was discrediting her just because of his leadership status. He was their leader, she got that. But that didn't mean she didn't know what she was talking about. That drove her nuts. Rylee watched as he turned away to continue cleaning up the camp. She shook her head. He was entirely too protective of the delinquents. Not that she didn't appreciate being protected by someone...but she preferred that he wouldn't automatically assume that she needed protection.
She was about to walk away and just leave things be, but Rylee wasn't one to give up that easily. She smirked and walked back towards him, standing right in front of him while he was still bending down. "You think you know it all? Fine" Rylee turned on her heel and started to walk away again, then turned over her shoulder to keep talking "Sunrise tomorrow....I'll be at the gate. Meet me if you want to actually know what's out there" She kept walking back towards her tent and then turned back to him one more time "And bring your weapon" Rylee clicked her tongue and took a deep breath when she finally got back to her tent. She had never stood up to anyone like that before..especially a boy..an older boy...who she was slowly finding to be attractive. But she couldn't let that happen. Bellamy was the kind of guy that would hurt her...just like Bradley. And yet she just invited him into her world...willingly. She laughed at herself. She was more messed up than she would like to admit. But tomorrow she would prove her point and that would be enough for her.

Rylee felt her eyes go dark as he called her out on not being able to compare losing loved ones to war. "I never said that losing a loved one was like going to war...I said that losing someone I loved was enough to get me to fight.." She turned her face to the sun as the wind blew her stray strands of hair around her face. Her thoughts flashed to her mother, her pregnant mother, as she was floated right in front of her husband and 6 year old daughter.
Rylee turned her eyes back to Bellamy when he asked if she had taken a life before. She knew that many of the 100, including him, had done it. She knew that she was amongst murders...but it didn't scare her. Not one bit. "No. I have never taken a life...and no I have not fought in a war...but I know that one day I am going to have to. One day we are going to have to fight. And one day...I will have to kill someone. And you know what? I will do it...and I will have no regrets...because the people who took my family from me had no regrets." Her eyes got dark again and she bit her lip to hold back the emotions that were building behind her brave facade. She felt the emotions regress as she clenched her fists at her sides.
She couldn't let him get the best of her. She was never one to let anyone overpower her, especially a man. She kept her eyes on him and laughed darkly when he told her not to get cocky. She was many things, but cocky she was not. She knew she was vulnerable. She knew that she was just as disposable as any other person on the Ark. But that gave her all the more reason to be ready to win any fight she was thrown into. "I learned everything I know from my father....and he taught me never to be cocky. And I'm not....I'm just confident in what I know. And what I can tell you is that you know nothing about what's out there. You think you do...but you don't. That I am 100% confident about." She had been out into the woods countless times, looking for herbs for her medical supply and to explore, since they had landed on the Ground and she knew that there were things that these kids had no idea about, nor any idea how to handle. She knew Bellamy was strong. She knew he was their leader, but that didn't mean he was fully prepared either.

Rylee felt him smirk before she saw it. It brought chills down her spine. And before she knew it she felt the air knocked out of her as her back hit the ground. She felt her breathing quicken again as she looked up at the tall boy towering over her. The sun hit his face and she crawled back a few feet, still facing him, to keep the distance between them.
When he complimented her she smirked back, but then went back to her stone hard face. She couldn't let him get through to her..not yet. She was supposed to prove to him that she could protect herself, not be on the ground cowering away from him. When he asked about her fighting in a war, she laughed. "Do you really think anyone would ever risk putting a "little girl" like me in a war?" Everyone always thought she was useless and fragile. But she couldn't have that.
She studied him from the ground. She was intrigued by him....and his personality. She could see his muscular arms and chest through his shirt. His body itself was a weapon...He was tall and strong. He threw her to the ground as if she was as light as a pillow. She snapped herself out of her study of the man before her, and stood up. She didn't like the idea of him being above her for that long. "I don't need to be in a war to know what it's like. I've lost people...people I loved...and that alone is reason enough to fight." She wiped off her pants and tucked her knife back into her boot.
When he asked how she learned, she snapped her eyes up to his. Rylee took a small breath and pulled her hair into a bun, as it had been thrown about enough during her quick throw-down to the ground. "My dad has been teaching me since I was 6. He prepared me for everything....he always knew something like this could happen to me...so he prepared me to survive...And so far..." She kept her eyes on him and smirked "...I have"

Rylee heard him speak again and stopped in her tracks to listen to what he had to say. She smirked to herself. He had absolutely no idea the kind of "training" she had already had. She wasn't as weak as she looked, she could guarantee him that. He kept throwing in small comments each time he moved a step, and she felt her anger start to rise. She did not need to learn self defense. Her heart was racing. She turned her head ever so slightly, her hair framing over her eyes. She saw that he had bent down to start picking up what appeared to be bullets. She smirked again...this was her moment.
When he bent down again, she disappeared out of his eyesight, using her speed and agility, and raised an eyebrow when he looked around for her again. Before he had time to realize she was missing from where he had last seen her, she was on him. He was a giant compared to her small frame, but she jumped up onto his back and had her knife at his throat before she had time to even think about what she was doing. Her adrenaline was rushing when she leaned down to his ear and whispered "I said, I don't need training...and I certainly don't need any self defense...." Her breathing was quick and hurried because she could barely handle the idea that she was "attacking" a boy she barely knew....never mind on his back. Her mind was racing, but she was confident in her abilities. She would never hurt him...at least not now. She ahd no reason to. But she had to prove to him that she was capable of protecting herself. She probably knew the woods outside of these walls better than any of the other delinquents or Ark people. He had no idea who he was dealing with. She may be small..but she is certainly deadly. Rylee awoke that morning feeling the same way she did everyday...alone. Her dad was still on the Ark and being locked in the Box doesn't exactly give you time to make friends. The Ground had proven difficult to make allies too. She found herself constantly exploring the outskirts of the camp at night, and then waking up each morning just going through the motions that were expected of her. Sure some of the other girls in camp would probably make great friends and be the ones to whom she could rely on...but Rylee wasn't sure they would understand her the way her dad does...or did. She can't even be sure if her dad is alive anymore.
She shook the thought from her head as she got out of bed and pulled on her tight black jeans and maroon tank top that showed just a sliver of her toned stomach. Just because she was on the Ground didn't mean she was going to give up on her training. She still ran every day and kept in shape. Their leaders talked day in and day out about how they may just have to run one day to escape the Grounders...and Rylee was ready.
As Rylee left her quarters, she squinted at the bright sun as it shone overhead. She was still getting used to the natural light. Everything on the Ark was so artificial. It took her lungs only a day to get used to natural oxygen, but the light was proving more difficult as she did most of her exploring at night. She rubbed her arms as it was a bit chilly outside, but quickly warmed up as the sun hit her skin. She loved the warmth, sure it was bright, but it reminder that she was alive and had a chance to survive in this world.
Her thoughts were shaken when she suddenly heard a man's voice from behind her, low and soft but definitely powerful. She turned at the sound and felt her insides start to flutter...but not out of attraction. Ever since Bradley, her trust for men only worsened. And she knew about this boy...Bellamy Blake...she would need all the fingers of the 100 to count how many girls she had seen go into is tent and come out the next morning. He certainly did not seem like the kind of guy that would understand her...nor even seem interested in her.
However, her father taught her it was rude to ever not respond to someone talking...even if she was mortified of him. She put on a hard face, smirked and turned fully to look at him, though still at a distance. "I'm not late...I chose not to go..." She kept her eyes on him and tilted her head ever so slightly. "I don't really think I need the training...but thanks for your concern" at that she turned on her heel and started to walk away, her brave face falling almost immediately...if she could get to her tent, she could breathe.

| ~ • ~ | Character Basics | ~ • ~ |
.:Name:. Rylee Star Rose .:Nick Name:. Ry .:Affiliation:. Sky Person .:Age:. 17
| ~ • ~ | Appearance | ~ • ~ |
.:Physical Appearance:. Rylee is petite in stature, but not weak. She had always straightened her long dark amber brown curls, but since being on the Ground she has let her hair go natural. She used to dress a bit more fashionable when she was up on the Ark, but now, she focuses more on comfort and survival, but still makes sure that she looks good. The most important part of her attire, is the knife she keeps hidden in her right boot. It is easy access in case she ever needs a weapon. .:Height:. 5'3" .:Portrayed by:. Sophia Bush
| ~ • ~ | Personality | ~ • ~ |
.:Personality:. Rylee is often perceived as weak because of her stature. That is perhaps the one thing that pushes her over the edge. Since a young age, when other boys her age would pick on her for being so small, Rylee began to focus on how to better herself. By age 11, she was running every day and doing everything she could to increase her speed and agility. When the 100 came down, she quickly found that her weapon of choice was a knife and never left her bed without one tucked inside her boot.
One of Rylee's best qualities is her ability to hide her feelings. She doesn't let emotions get in the way of what she needs to do. Rylee experienced a lot of loss in her life, mainly her mother and brother, and developed serious trust issues from a previous relationship with a boy on the Ark. As a result, she puts up a wall and doesn't let people in too often, especially men. Her lack of trust and hiding of emotions may interrupt her abilities to befriend or love anyone right away, but it sure does help when she needs to attack an enemy.
Although Rylee has trust issues and does not often show emotions, she is extremely flirtatious, often without a means to the end of dating. She learned that she could use her flirtation and her body to get boys to do what she wanted or needed of them. It started on the Ark and her seduction of a Cadet is what got her locked up with the 100 to begin with. She may not let people in right away, but she isn't afraid to have to turn up the flirt to get what she wants....but she always fears that she might hook a guy...and have to learn to let him in. .:Special Skills:. Quick and agile, good with knives, flirtatious, well-spoken, can fit into small places, strong personality, doesn't let emotion get in the way of duty, a decent fighter, an excellent tracker.
| ~ • ~ | History | ~ • ~ |
.:Birthplace:. The Ark .:Family:. Mother {Rae Rose/deceased}, Father {Ryan Rose/alive}, Brother {Robert Rose/deceased} .:Occupation:. Student Nurse .:History:. Rylee Rose was born on the Ark on the night of April 13th in the middle of a star storm. Shooting stars were falling past the windows of the Ark as Rae held her daughter for the first time. The name Rylee had already been decided upon, but Star quickly became the middle name of the small bundle of joy born on the Spring night.
Rylee grew up on the Ark and loved every moment of it. She was always exploring in places she shouldn't but her size allowed her to never get caught. Each night she would come back to her cabin inside the giant space structure and excitedly tell her mom and dad about what she had discovered that day. They were her favorite people and at age 5 she couldn't imagine loving any two people more than she loved them.
But on her 6th birthday, everything changed. Her mom stopped coming to dinner in the public halls. Her dad was constantly in the hospital wing talking to his best friend Micael, one of the doctors. Rylee didn't know what was wrong, but she knew something wasn't right. But then one night she overheard a conversation that she definitely was not meant to hear. Her mom was pregnant with a second baby, Robert they were calling him, and that was not allowed on the Ark. To this day, Rylee still doesn't know how the information leaked, but her mom was floated only days after she overheard her parents conversation... Rylee lost her mom and her brother all in the blink of an eye...too much too fast for a 6 year old.
Rylee and her dad, Ryan, got exceptionally close following the death of her mother and brother. They spent every night reading books and playing games all meant to strengthen Rylee's brain and mental capacity. Ryan knew that one day Rylee would have the chance to become something great...something better than just a child of the Ark. He would do anything to give her that opportunity.
By the time Rylee was 8, she practically knew the Ark inside and out. She could get from her cabin to the farthest outskirts of the Ark in less than 20 minutes and be back before anyone even knew she was missing. One day on one of her many adventures through the vents, she bumped into another one of the many Ark children. Blonde hair, blue eyes and a brilliant smile made knees go weak no matter what age. Rylee and Bradley became best friends in a matter of weeks, practically inseparable, and eventually grew up together.
Years passed and Rylee and her dad managed to continue on the Ark despite the loss of their family. Rylee got smarter, faster, and stronger while her dad quizzed her to prepare her for any unforseen future.
Rylee and Bradley got closer too and by the time they turned 15 the two were practically dating. Bradley kissed Rylee on the night of her 16th birthday as the star shower happened outside the Ark, just like on the night she was born. That night started a relationship that Rylee dove into head first. Suddenly all her thoughts were on Bradley, not her skill training with her father. She could only focus on him and it dug a hole quicker than she was able to climb out of.
On the eve of her 17th birthday, everything went wrong. Rylee found Bradley in his cabin with another girl, a girl who Bradly had assured, many times, was just a friend who needed tutoring in engineering skills. Rylee felt the tears push past her eyes as she ran out of the room. She heard him yelling after her, but she couldn't handle the idea of talking to him right now. She kept running and eventually found herself in one of the old hiding places that she and Bradley would sit in for hours on end when they were younger. She ran her hand over their initials engraved into one of the vents and kicked the siding, creating a loud bang throughout the vent system.
Wrong move.
That sound grabbed the attention of one of the Cadet's on duty and he came running to the source. Rylee, though still small, was more visible now that she was a teenager. She tried to get out of the vent in time, but he had grabbed her leg and was pulling her back down onto the floor. Rylee, with rushing feelings of anger and sadness, decided to try and get herself out of any punishment by flirting with the Cadet. He played her game right alongside her, but just when she thought she had him in a spot to let her go, he grabbed her and got her roped into joining the 100 locked up for "Wrongful seduction of an Ark Officer".
Now nearly 7 months after being locked up, she has landed on the Ground with the 100. She has kept to herself, watching people and trying to find where she would fit in and who with. She keeps her knife in her boot and has searched the woods 3 times over utilizing her learned skills. She isn't sure what will happen or who it will happen with, but she has every intention of surviving on this planet...her father's teachings will not go to waste...she can't lose anything more in her life and she doesn't plan to start now.
