Aspen could feel a lump forming in her throat, brought on as she tried to tamper down her emotions as she felt Bellamy's hand on hers; his calming voice doing little to ease her-- speaking of farm station; her friends, her... parents. Gone. She keep her eyes downcast as she could hear him apologise. The sincerity in his words were as if he could have been there, too-- as if he knew what inner turmoil Aspen refused to creep up on her right now. The pressure of his palm atop hers, and the intensity of his gaze, even though she couldn't bear to look at him for fear of falling apart again--were enough to keep her grounded and she knew she wouldn't be alone in this, not if what Bellamy was saying right now was true. They'd make it home soon.
Bellamy moved his hand from hers and stood up to walk over to her side after he had finished applying the makeshift splint. Aspen looked down at it and after assessing her leg, she nodded to herself,"Now or never, right?"
She turned to Bellamy as he hefted his arm around her shoulder to support her weight as she tried to stand. It was only a little painful as Aspen struggled to her feet, and even a little more as she rested her foot on the ground. She groaned as she shifted her weight from one to leg to the other, testing the injury, leaning lightly on Bellamy as she did so-- not trusting that she could limp herself all the way to camp, no matter how stubborn she was. She looked up the cliff face far infront of them and then frowned, looking up at Bellamy, "How do we get out of here?"

So I'm heading to London this Friday for Starfury's Survival-- a convention for fans of The 100. There will be plenty of opportunities for me to ask Lincoln, Raven, Jackson, Miller, and Murphy questions; aside from the guest talks, I also have the chance to attend a meet & greet with all the guests, and also a fan meet with Miller. So, if you guys have any questions you want asking, post them here and I'll see if I can get them answered for you. ^w^

Aspen watched Bellamy as he worked to stem the bleeding on the open wound of her leg—whether or not it was broken yet, remained undiagnosed. It didn't feel pleasant when she was limping around earlier, but then again, she had never fractured anything before so the sooner they got back to camp, the better. Even if her leg wasn't broken, the wound that Bellamy was tending to needed to be treated properly by Dr Griffin; Earth Skills basic first aid would only get them so far, but she admired his skill, especially given the current situation.
Bellamy had been talking whilst he worked, and Aspen appreciated that he was doing it to keep her mind off of the pain as he poked and prodded but, she couldn't help but think that he was asking because he was genuinely curious and wanted to get to know her better too, because the next question he asked caught her off guard. What station are you from?
Suddenly all of the days event came rushing back to the front of Aspen's mind, and she looked away from Bellamy as she tried to quash them back down, lest she start crying again. It was a simple enough question but the pain was too fresh but, Bellamy had been nothing but nice to her since they crossed paths not hours ago, and she wondered if it was worth him knowing. She remembered what she had thought of him of a couple of minutes ago, and thinks even further back to how he used to act on the Ark-- they seemed two completely different people and yet, she realised yet again that he doesn't want to ruin this second chance he's been given. Maybe she should start doing the same down here. After a couple of deep breaths, she told him,”I'm from Farm Station—we're sitting in it right now. I came down with my parents but...” she looked over to the wreckage behind them, where once it had been flaming, was now just a smoking carcass of what once was Farm Station, before turning back to face Bellamy, “they didn't make it.”
She didn't really wait for him to divulge in that information, so she asked him another question quickly. “How many survivors are there? Did everyone from the Sky Box make it down?” It was a question that had occurred to her but she'd never thought to ask until now.

Aspen watched Bellamy get to his feet. He said that they were going to get out of here- back to their people, and she couldn't help but smile to herself then. There were others out there, and by the way he had mentioned a camp settlement, and the fact that others from the Ark were congregated there too, meant that what Aspen had initially thought when she crash landed, was wrong. She wasn't alone now. Her thoughts drifted then, still absent mindedly watching as Bellamy scoured the wreck of Farm Station for what she gathered would be something to help support her leg. How many other stations had made it to the ground? Bellamy had mentioned a group of them so she had hopes.
Bellamy came to kneel in front of Aspen with everything he could salvage for a splint- a seatbelt, some cloth, and a stick. She grimaced at the crude materials but it would do, she was glad that this was only a temporary solution, and that she could receive a proper diagnosis from Doctor Griffin as Bellamy assured her would take a look at her leg once they got back to camp. Then he asked for her name, and Aspen looked away shyly. Of course he wouldn't know who she was! Back on the Ark, they lived in different stations, and even when either of them did have any free time to roam around the Ark, Aspen would always take that opportunity to hide away in the library for hours and read books on Earth history. She wasn't really known by anyone really, much less Bellamy Blake-- she shouldn't really be surprised that he had to ask.
Aspen looked back up to see that Bellamy was looking down at her lame leg, and lifting up her pants leg to get a better look at her injury. “Oh, uh... my name's Aspen. Sorry I didn't tell you before,” she half-shrugged like it wasn't that big a deal but, she was berating herself on the inside. So stupid. She watched him assessing her injury, watching his face for good or bad signs though, his features were neutral. So she just gave in and asked him. “So, what's the diagnosis doc? Am I gonna live?” Joking was just her way of diverting attention away from the pain that creeping back up at her, and she tried not to let it show in her eyes as she waited for Bellamy's input since she couldn't actually see the injury herself. Not that she'd want to but, still.

Aspen was glad when Bellamy returned her embrace-- even if it was tentatively. She couldn't blame him though because, back on The Ark they never spoke, much less passed each other in the halls. She had seem him on patrol and guard duty when he was a cadet; even at the Unity Day masquerade ball that ended with a solar flare, Blake's mutiny, and the shocking discovery of his little sister. After that incident, Aspen had heard stories; that he had been demoted to a janitor, his mother had been floated, and Octavia had been locked away in the Sky Box to await the same fate as Aurora Blake. That was until they had sent all of the inmates down to the ground, in effort to conserve oxygen, and also to see if the Earth was survivable after 97 years.
Back then lives were expandable, but down here Aspen realised that every life mattered. Everyone of the delinquents had been given a second chance and she hoped that would mean they were changing for the better, like Bellamy, who, at this point, had pulled away slightly to look into her eyes, to ask if she was hurt. Aspen frowned then as she remembered their position on the ground-- her leg had cramped up from where she had been curled up for so long and the pain was starting to return to the forefront of her mind. She stretched her leg out in front of her and gritted her teeth- it felt like her limb had been caught in a vice and the pain now was getting harder to ignore. “I think my leg might be broken,” Aspen sniffed as she moved to wiped her eyes of dried tears. “But I can kinda walk on it.”
Aspen didn't know how long it would before sundown, and she didn't want to to stick around to find out. But, with her busted leg she would surely slow them down and that could be dangerous. Aspen looked away from Bellamy and bowed her head at that thought. “What are we gonna to do now?”

They're all dead. I'm alone. I won't survive here... They're all dead, I'm alone... Aspen's thoughts ran rampant, repeating like a mantra, over and over, each thought making another tear fall and a barely audible whimper escape her lips. She'd been lying on the ground for hours-- a small part of her was thankful for the warm, though solid terrain that cushioned her back, better than the harsh metal floor back on-- no, Aspen sniffed, she wouldn't think of that now. Laying here, whilst resting her leg, had also afforded her time to think of the situation that she was currently facing: sure, she was alone but she was alive, and she was starting to see that was all that mattered- she'd be given a new start, on Earth no less. There was no sense in dwelling on past events. What's done is done and it's time to move on. Aspen opened her eyes a blinked up at the sky, smiling a little. She really was lucky to be here.
Movement caught her eye suddenly, and Aspen quickly curled up further to appear less threatening, looking away from the humanoid figure. She couldn't risk drawing attention to herself because she didn't know if this person was a friendly or not and, Aspen didn't really have long to think about what this guy was planning on doing once he found her because she suddenly felt a pressure on her shoulder-- his hand, and a voice. It sounded familiar. He was asking her if she was ok, and she turned her head to come face to face with one Bellamy Blake. She had heard about him-- he had managed to get himself onto The Dropship; the one that had his little sister on- the girl sent to the Sky Box for the crime of being born. He had shot Chancellor Jaha to do it and, at the time Aspen thought he was a crook, just like the rest of them. Looking at him now though, she could see the tired look in his eyes, masked by the concern shown on his face, and the cuts and bruises. Now she understood why he had done it, that he'd do anything to protect Octavia Blake-- because judging by the look in his eyes, and the physical hurt on his face, the 100 delinquents aren't the only occupants of Earth.
But he was here now, and if he was here then, that meant there were others and that she wasn't alone. She could make it too. That thought had Aspen launch herself at Bellamy, hugging him without a second thought and not a care in the world. “I'm okay now that you're here. Thank you Bellamy,” she croaked, voice heavy with emotions as tears started flowing freely down her cheeks.

The Ark was falling, and Aspen's world was turning upside down. After Diana Sydney's mutinous actions left the space station in a cripple state and hundreds dead, Jaha elected to send the remaining population down to the ground, by any means. But time was a luxury that the former Chancellor just could not afford and so he was forced to pilot all 13 stations remotely from the Go-Sci ring, using the Arks' thrusters to achieve a sure path down to the planet. Though, nothing was without risk, and now, Aspen sits rooted to her seat in fear, eyes squeezed shut. She could feel her parents next to her; her mother to her left gripping her hand, and her father to her right, doing the same. It seemed that everyone was waiting on baited breath, too afraid, even to scream. Will they make it?
Then, all hell broke loose. The ship started shaking violently, jarring people from seats, dislodging steel girders and the metal frame that basically held Farm Station together; and that's when people started to scream. Seeing the debris fall, some people scrambled out of their seats in fear, swaying as the vessel pitched forward. Aspen looked on in horror, even as her parents moved out of their seats to help people back into theirs. What the hell were they doing?! They were surely entering the atmosphere now, and that meant that time was running out. They needed to get back in their seats, NOW. If they didn't, they wouldn't make it.
The screams, the scrape of metal on metal, the harsh sound of the thrusters, urging the ship further toward the ground, to Earth, faster and faster, were getting louder. The lights were flickering now, and Aspen could see her parents huddled on the floor, clinging to one another, crying, as if they knew their fate. It was the last thing Aspen saw before she lost conciousness.
It could have been days or minutes when Aspen finally woke. She opened her eyes and immediately groaned when sunlight danced in her vision. Wait, what? The thought was enough to make up shoot upright into sitting, and then she scrambled to stand when she glanced at where she was. Her senses were assaulted; fire and smoke everywhere, she could smell burning and could see charred bodies lain at her feet. Aspen choked back a sob when she realised, in a cruel twist of fate that she was the only survivor. Everything else was burned-- Farm Station, her friends... her parents. Glassy eyed, she walked aimlessly, numb, safe for a dull ache in her leg that was determined to cause her physical pain beyond the emotional turmoil that she was feeling, but she push passed it and continued on. She had made it to the ground but at what cost? No one else had and now she was alone. What if she never found fellow survivors? What of the delinquents? Aspen didn't know how long she had been walking along this crater, or if she was even going the right way. Which was the right way though? Frustrated, Aspen fell to her knees and then proceeded to curl up in the foetal position, hoping for another miracle.

.:History:. Aspen Heckart was born on 11th January 1998 on the Farm Station of the Ark. Like many children, Aspen was fascinated by Earth's history—captivated by the stories told on Unity Day, and had dreams of seeing blue skies and green grass from an early age. She held on to that memory all through her childhood, until it blossomed into a passion for the knowledge of Earth's history, and also its future. Aspen spent most of her days with her head buried in Earth archives; taking a particular interest in the Earth animals that once roamed the planet. Aside from reading, Aspen works as a cultivator on her home station—growing plants & vegetables alongside her mother & father. The work is tedious, but Aspen does enough to get by each day on The Ark, as she firmly believes that they will return to the ground, and that what skill she learns from farming will stand her good stead in the future of human survival on Earth. Her dream came true when Aspen was 18 years old though, not in the best way. After learning of the Chancellors secrets-- failing oxygen supply, sending all the inmates of the Sky Box to the ground--the Council elected to take the Ark down to Earth. It was incredibly dangerous but it was the only way to ensure that the human race go on living. Today, Aspen lives in Arkadia-- a new base camp forged under the shadow of the fallen Ark, and a safe haven for its few survivors.
