Clarke was still wet. In a similarly wet bag she had seaweed, a generous amount, so she could dry it and make tea of it when it was needed, as form of antibiotic. In all honesty that was the only kind of herb and flower she could safely identify by herself. She had a sheet of paper with her though. Monty had her sketch several herbs, so she could bring back some they knew or some variation. The blonde was kneeling by some moss, trying to compare the structures of it to the sketches to see if it could be good. She was still wearing gloves, just in case. Who knew if it was the right kind of moss? Who knew if the moss mutated or evolved and was poisonous now? She couldn’t take any chances. They would try it at camp. They had rudimentary methods of testing there.
Sounds behind her made her turn, her knife raised, as for a moment she forgot about the gun she had with her – where the hell was the other kid she had to take anyway? They had been clear that nobody should really leave camp at the dropship alone with the tense situation with the grounders. For some reason the guy assigned to join her – carrying a gun of his own – had vanished into thin air. If she didn’t find him and came home without him, she could already see Bellamy grumbling about how this was exactly why those rules were enforced. What if something happened to the kid or her? There was nobody to protect the other or report back to Camp. She also half expected it to be the kid. But no such luck. It was, from what she could see a Grounder. Again, with the tense situation, Clarke decided to keep the knife up, but to speak. “I’m not here to cause any harm. I’m just looking for plants. Medicine for my people. I don’t mean any harm.”

[googlefont="Amatic SC:400"] aint it fun Leilah had been sent out on a mission, if anyone could call it that. She personally believed this ‘mission’ was only a test of some sort, but that did not mean that she would slack in her job. She’d scarcely spent an hour in the woods, trudging through mud and the lake to collect what herbs was useful to her people when Leilah picked up on fresh tracks. However, she hadn’t paid much attention to that at first, proceeding to seek out the plants. But as she ventured deeper into the forest, Lei caught the slightest sight of something bright, something yellow, perhaps hair. She instinctively reached for an arrow in the holder she’d slung across her shoulder, loading her bow as she silently moved closer. When her sight cleared up to reveal a female with her back turned against her, Leilah appeared from behind the trees, careless of the noises she brought forth with her.
Her bow was raised, the target captivated in an aim as she narrowed her gaze on the girl once she acknowledged her. Although, she herself meant her no harm; she’d just wanted to proceed with caution, given that the blonde was not only armed but had her knife raised. Although perhaps a part of it had been Leilah’s fault, she had startled her after all. As the girl spoke, Leilah slowly nodded, lowering her aim. ‘‘I suppose that makes two of us, then,’’ she stated with a barely noticeable lightness, though made sure not to drop her guards. ‘‘ I didn’t mean to scare you, sky person.’’ She glanced at the moss behind the girl, examining its appearance before she returned her gaze. ‘‘ Are you sure medicine is what you’re looking for?’’ Finally returning her arrow back into the holder with the rest, Leilah kept her brows furrowed. She was aware of the knife in the blonde’s hand, but she was also confident she could stand her ground and thus, found no harm in shifting from the defensive stance she’d taken. ‘‘ As far as I’m concerned that type of plant is of no medicinal use.’’

Clarke took the queue of the other woman lowering her bow and arrow. She slowly lowered her knife. If none of them raised their weapon, talking would be easier. That was assuming she was alone and not willing to keep on attacking her. She couldn’t see the future, sadly, but Clarke didn’t want anything escalating. As far as she could see they were the same species, they shouldn’t be killing each other and honestly she didn’t understand why they did in the first place. What was the point of it all? It was just shedding blood, when they might as well help each other.
“Yes, I am sure.” It was what she was looking for, but she knew not everything she was getting had a use. She had to go by what they had in space, things in space were different, but the intention was the same: Help her people, save lives, make lives easier and ease pain. It was as simple as it was wonderful. With the knife packed away between the herbs now, Clarke heard the other say the one plant had no use. “Which of them? I have been given a list by out botany expert. We only have the knowledge of the past for us. The plants have changed, so we don’t actually know what to look for. We’re learning it all new.” Clarke pointed to the plants. “Anesthesia, antibiotic, calming.” She named the effects Monty predicted. Leilah

[googlefont="Amatic SC:400"] aint it fun Once her knife was lowered, Leilah offered a soft nod as a silent agreement; at least now it was clear that neither of them had any intentions of harming the other. Or so Leilah believed, though she couldn't always be certain as it came to the sky people because just like them, they were human beings. One of them didn't define the other; some of them were unpredictable. Leilah examined the plants the skygirl pointed to. ‘’I know of one with similar effects.’’ It would have been easier had she known what type of illness the girl was hoping to cure, however Leilah simply moved passed the girl to retrieve something from the shadowed area of a bush, fishing out her knife from her boot to cut the plant free.
‘‘ This plant here, it has those effects you mentioned.’’ She carried it in her palm, looking at the girl warily before she reached it out for her. ‘’It’s called kava, quite helpful actually. You need to use the roots to produce a drink, like tea… Just be sure to digest a fair amount, anything more than a cup could be harmful.’’ For whatever reason Leilah was helping her was beyond her. She wasn’t certain whether she knew what Lei was explaining already, but she figured it wouldn’t harm anyone if she did. Just as long as a grounder who had reasons to dislike Leilah didn’t witness it. Their species were at war after all, she should have captured her or harmed her in any way possible, not handing her anything that would benefit the sky people; like some sort of peace offering.

“Kaya.” Clarke repeated fascinated. She didn’t know a lot about the plants. She used the products of them, usually. Pills or teas and that was it, she never learned to make anything from them, which was why she had this kind of shopping list from Monty to bring home what they needed. He knew stuff like that. He was training to become an engineer, but his parents were raising plants. He knew a lot of them. So the trouble might have been her being incapable of distinguishing between plants or the plants having evolved. Some of them had, she had seen that already, Monty had commented on that, too, causally, as if it really didn’t matter. Now it did.
“Plants down here changed, I think.” Clarke said, to explain it to her. “They adjusted to radiation and all that, like you did. They didn’t adjust to anything in space, so… the plants I look for might look similar or not exist or be completely useless now.” Clarke wanted the other woman to understand where her struggles came from. She didn’t meant to collect the wrong plants. They would test them before they used it, within their possibilities. The blonde sighed, remembering that the only real knowledge they had was from the grounders, too. “The seaweed you have… some of your people put it in the wound of one of mine: Have you tried it as tea?”
