I won't let ANYTHING HAPPEN TO YOU She seemed reflective about his words, saying that she would talk to Wells . . . so said that she guess she would. "You guess?" He said a bit teasingly with a smile playing on his lips. "The longer you put it off, the harder it's going to be." But she probably already knew that. Especially since that was partly why it had gotten to this point. He continued to smile when she thanked him, saying it was the best advice she had gotten. Once again, he felt that familiar honor and pride, unable to help the way he felt upon hearing her words. It seemed that he had connected to her in the past few hours, more than he had connected to anyone else apart from his family.
It was such a refreshing feeling. He knew he should be feeling guilty for placing this burden on her of breaking the law, but instead, he was also basking in the relief of being able to actually allow himself to be close to someone. She may not know that Octavia was his sister, but he doubted he would keep it from her for long. "I'm happy to help," he told her honestly. It really was the least he could do. She had quite literally saved his and his family's life. "I work tonight, so I should probably get going soon." He still had to check on Octavia and then get ready for his shift. Truth was, he was enjoying this time too much to want to leave. "What are your plans for the rest of the day?" He casually asked, wishing they had more time. And hoping for another opportunity like this one.

“You’re right.” He was good at this, at giving advice, being neutral, giving her points she really needed to hear and needed to take into account. She guessed she should just do it as soon and not put it off further. She could always seek him out at his work. As a medical apprentice she could come up with reasons to speak to a certain guards and even if it was just to check on an imaginary injury. So if it backfired terribly, she would go find him. Clarke shrugged when he asked her what she was going to do. It was quite simple and as boring as it could get: She had to study, but at home. Work was over, so it meant she had to stay at home. Well, she didn’t have to, but she would. Where else would she go after breaking Wells heart?
“I’ll be at home. I have a shift tomorrow only. I… guess we’ll talk. Tomorrow maybe?” Or the day after. They didn’t know what they should be doing and what their schedule was, but they could figure out about that then. Clarke got up. She held her hand out to him, hoping he would agree to meet her again. In all honesty, she knew she would be distracted by a certain book on her table instead of studying or focusing on anything she should be focusing on. Maybe that would be a good thing, though. Clarke took a step back, before pulling out a piece of paper. She wrote her number on it, so he could reach her directly through Arks intercom system, if he wanted to. She held it out, smiling shyly.

I won't let ANYTHING HAPPEN TO YOU She told him he was right, and glad that she felt his advice was at least somewhat logical -- since technically, he had no experience with being in a romantic relationship with anyone. She answered his question, telling him that she had a shift tomorrow, and that they could perhaps meet then. "I'd like that," he told her truthfully. This was the first time in a while -- perhaps ever -- that he felt like he could relax. Even the fact that she knew about Octavia, or at least enough to know that there was something that he didn't want the authorities to find out -- didn't hinder his state of ease.
Clarke was so comfortable to be in the company of, and he found himself eager for their next conversation. She held out something to him which he took and smiled when he saw what he was. Her number. He couldn't give her his own, as his family avoided giving our their number for obvious reasons. "I'll give you a call," he promised her. And he wasn't just saying that. Clarke was different from most other women he had been in the presence of. And he wanted to get to know her more. "I'll see you around, Clarke," he told her. "Thank you. For, everything." For helping protect Octavia, for showing him this place, for the tea, and just for allowing himself to be in her company. With those genuine words he climbed down from their spot, and went home to change before commencing his shift.
He had been working for the entire night so by morning, he went home to get a few hours of sleep before he had to get back to training. It was a busy day, and he didn't spend as much time with Octavia as he would have liked. But he was doing this for her, for his mother too in the hopes that she wouldn't have to find her own ways of gaining information. He wanted a better life, for them both. But that night when they had finished training . . . someone spoke a little too boldly. One of the guardsmen had made a comment regarding his mother -- damn officer Grus hadn't exactly been subtle in the way he touched his mother in front of the other officers -- and that, had left Bellamy fuming. He knew the guy was saying it to provoke a reaction out of him, but assaulting a member of the guard could lead to not only being dismissed of his position . . . but being arrested, charged and ultimately, floated.
It wasn't worth the risk. Fortunately, he didn't have a shift that night and Bellamy needed to calm down before he returned home. He didn't want his mother or Octavia see just how affected he was by the words of others. It was not easy letting them mouth off and dishonor his mother's name. He wanted to break the guardsman's jaw to prevent him from talking. But instead, he just went to the one place that he could calm down in. One that was only discovered yesterday but already a location he felt dependant on. He climbed up the ladder that led to it, and sat there, focusing on taking a few deep, calming breaths, not even realizing his hands were clenched in a fist. He slowly released the tightened grip on nothing, trying to force the adrenaline that was coursing through him to calm the hell down.

Days on the Ark could be long, especially since there was no natural indication of the day and night cycle there. Day and night was created artificially. Day and Night made not much of a difference to Clarke. Having started to train to become a doctor, she had cone into the rare pleasure of nightshifts already. She didn’t like those kind of shifts at all. But this was not why this day felt like it dragged, long and pointless and in all forms uncomfortable. It was her talk with Wells and ultimately their break up. He was much more invested in the relationship than she was. While she saw the logical advantages of their relationship, the fact that they could be quite the power couple and have it easy. They would have it easy to get a permit, they’d have so many ration points, steady jobs. Together they could have everything they wanted, but that was not what Clarke wanted. She wanted more than just a unit to serve a purpose. She wanted love. She wanted happiness and that’s what she wanted to make him understand. He still hurt, of course he did. Hell, she hurt, too as it was a change and change wasn’t easy.
Clarke eventually packed a few things again, intending to spend the night outside of the apartment, away from the prying eyes of her family, who would ask, who would try to make her go back to Wells even though that was not where her happiness was, it was just where they saw it going. Clarke made her way to her hideout. After she climbed up there, she froze, though. It was no longer empty and as it was late, for a moment she felt panicked that she got herself into trouble. But it was the one guard she didn’t mind being there: Bellamy.
“It’s you!” She exclaimed almost happily. Without further ado Clarke started setting up her things. She pulled out the pillows and blankets and made herself a small nest where she could settle in. With the lamp she brought, she could keep light. Snacks and tea were to keep her sated. And maybe him then. She had enough of it all. “I broke up with Wells… how are you?”

I won't let ANYTHING HAPPEN TO YOU Bellamy heard movement of someone climbing up, and considering he had no place else to go . . . he would be caught here. So he just froze and stared at whoever was going to approach. Much to his relief -- and even happiness -- it was Clarke Griffin. He wanted to say that her tone indicated similar feelings, but he wasn't entirely sure. He smiled in return to her greeting. He was about to vocally respond but instead, just watched her start to set up what appeared to be a resting area for the night. She was prepared with blankets, pillow, a light and something to eat and or drink.
Did she spend the night here often? Had something happened? Her next statement and question answered both these unspoken thoughts of Bellamy's. "Yeah?" He said still with a bit of a smile on his lips. "How do you feel?" He further inquired. She seemed, alright . . . but looks could always be deceiving. And he wanted to make sure she was alright. He was glad that she had done it; glad that she had prioritized her happiness and did what he heart seemed to want as wherever it was, from the way she spoke earlier . . . it didn't sound like it was in the relationship. Besides, this gave him something else to focus on. It was always easier for him to focus on something -- or someone -- else. "You came prepared," he added on a bit teasingly, as a light smirk played on his features. It was incredible what a calming presence she had, for he was already finding his mind start to ease after recent events.

“I’m feeling better.” Clarke replied. She did. It felt like a weight was lifted off of her. It felt like she could finally do something, now, look ahead at a happy future, because she was no longer in a relationship in which she did not feel good in. The love was missing from her side, to stay in the relationship. Now he knew what was the case, he knew she couldn’t give him what he wanted and needed and he could move on too, instead of her clinging to the empty ideas and to the idea she might be one day where he was, but then he would probably be way ahead of her already. “It was better, fairer on him and me, really. He knows now I didn’t feel as he did. We’re free to look for what really makes both of us happy now. He was sad, but he understood, I think. The same thing can’t be said about some of my family, thought.” Clarke pointed out. That’s why she ran here for the night, honestly.
“I did.” The blonde pushed a pillow and blanket to him, offering the same comfort to him as she had for herself. “I intend to stay here tonight.” The blonde explained. “I told my Dad I’d be out. I have no interest in facing my mother after breaking up with Wells. She’s going to be livid. She’d want be to get back together with him for comfort reasons and all that.” Clarke knew she wanted the best for her with that, but it didn’t feel good. This did, breaking up felt good and she had hope that the friendship with Wells was going to survive this, because she was honest and he understood. “Why are you here?” Clarke pulled out the book he had given to her and opened it carefully.

I won't let ANYTHING HAPPEN TO YOU Bellamy listene to Clarke explain her situation, of how she felt in the aftermath of the break up, as well as how her family responded to it . . . which in turn explained why she was here. "You did the right thing. For both you," he told her. He knew that it wasn't his place to say that, but he wanted to give her a bit of extra reassurance, since it didn't seem like her mother was supportive of her decision. "They'll get over it," he further stated. "Once they see you're happier where you are now." That was what parents wanted for their children, wasn't it? Happiness? Hell it was what he and his mother both wanted for Octavia . . . yet that unique circumstance was a bit more difficult. It was harder for Octavia to be happy when she was stuck inside their apartment all the time.
But that wasn't what this was about right now. This, was about Clarke. "As long as you feel sure about your decision. The rest will heal." Meaning, her mother's stance on the matter. Besides, maybe someone who made Clarke happier would come along. The thought -- the wish -- that he could be that guy entered his mind, and then just as quickly, he had to force it out. He couldn't dump the complications of his life onto her.
Just as he couldn't risk Octavia anymore than he already had. She assumed it was his girlfriend, he should probably keep it that way. He took the pillow and blanket gratefully, adjusting the pillow behind him. She then asked what he was doing here and that . . . was a bit more difficult to answer. "I just needed to cool off." It wasn't a lie. The taunting words of another had nearly sent him into a maddening rage expressed with his fists. But he couldn't be that stupid. He knew the punishment for assault. "Needed to get away for a while." And being with her here, felt like a good place to be.
