salvation comes at a price
Marcus left Abby sleeping, and walked from the medical bay out to the open grounds around the new city they were building. What was once a fallen space station--or at least the remains of a chunk of one--was going to one day be their city. They had been back from Mount Weather for a week now, and the ones who were able to help build a wall were working. The others were healing or working smaller, though equally needed jobs, around the camp. Abby was struggling with the fact that Clarke had left without a goodbye, but Kane was sending scouts out for the first time and they were be both mapping and looking for her.
He stood there, with his coffee in hand, thinking about how the beans they found on Earth tasted different from the rare beans he'd tasted on the Ark. One of the make-shift nurses that was helping Dr. Jackson out came up to him and whispered something. The news was unsettling. He didn't move from a long time, just staring at nothing and trying to process what this meant. How this changed everything. Turning he walking inside to find his daughter.

And while you are sitting indoors waiting for the storm to pass I will be outside dancing in the rain
❧ Time healed all wounds. That's what someone had said to her. Maybe enough time hadn't passed. Maybe she just hadn't waited long enough. Because she still felt broken - horribly and irrevocably broken. Her bones still ached with phantom pain, the drill tearing into skin, and muscle, and bone, drawing the marrow out. The sound of it whirring insistently, the screaming, her screaming, replaying in her ears every night. The horror of it all. It was like a bad dream she couldn't wake up from - a nightmare that was never ending. Each day there was a new chapter, a new torment. Clarke had left - hadn't even said goodbye. And Bellamy and the others were throwing themselves into training, or rebuilding Camp Jaha, well, it was actually called Arkadia now. It wasn't that she didn't appreciate their efforts or support them. But she was struggling. It had only been... what, a month? She didn't even know but so much had happened. There had been so much fighting, and so much death even before Mount Weather. How were any of them meant to be okay?
Leiana sniffed back her tears, refusing to be seen as weak, tired of being a burden to the group. Forcing her mind away from the turmoil and instead to the task at hand - inventory. She'd been one of the people tasked with cataloguing the items retrieved from Mount Weather, as well as the stock of items the Ark had landed with. It was mundane work but it kept her busy. Hearing the doors open across the room behind her, she watched Kane enter.
There had been some animosity between them for a little while but regardless Leia was grateful for him. He'd done what he could to save them from the Mountain Men. So she offered him a brief smile before resuming her work.
