- Guozhi: Father
- Guan Yin: Mother
- Meili: Younger Sister
Early Years
Baron’s early years are perhaps not as significant as the mark of almost his first decade of life. Memories of his biological parents are vague, as Baron spent time in a Taiwanese orphanage. But it was when he was eight that his life would take a drastic turn. He still recalls that late night; shouts filled the hallways, the children were dragged on their feet … and the next several days would be full of darkness. By the time he saw day light again, he was presented to a group of suited men. And given to one. From here, he was dragged to what he described as a castle. A massive home, where he quickly learned he was meant to live in, and serve. In the days that followed, Baron’s understanding of the events grew increasingly clear. He was a part of a human trafficking movement, that had him work as a servant in one of the clan’s leaders home. The conditions were harsh. Brutal. But Baron would find ways to keep himself at inner peace. Continuing his private, independent training in the few solitary moments he could find.
One seemingly normal day, he was taken with the leader to the man who led all operations. If Baron thought the previous house had been large, the clan’s highest authority’s house was even more massive. He was told to wait by the car, and Baron took the time to admire every visible part of the house. When the leader and his family came out, Baron watched them, just as intently as he watched his surroundings. He wasn’t sure what compelled him to act in the next moments. A glimpse of a gun, heightened reflexes, and sheer impulsiveness had him suddenly leaping in front of the leader, using his body as a shield and he pushed him out of the way. What came next: was pain. The unfamiliar yes intensifying pain of a bullet lodged into his shoulder. Baron to this day still remembers the words he heard as he tried to bite back the tears.
What was unexpected, was the gratitude vocalized by the leader. And even less expected … what came next. He was taken in by the man, but not as a servant: as a son. Adopted to the Tseng family, Baron for the first time he could remember, had a surname. One he was determined to do proud. This family gave him a father, a mother, and a sister. All of whom Baron cherished and was accepted with.
A New Start
Baron could not have imagined his life would have led down such a path. Being in taken in by his now father, Baron was trained and groomed to be the successor for the family business. He was now the son that Mr. Tseng had never had, and one he grew quickly proud of. Others slowly accepted Baron as part of the clan; but there were still few who did not. Still, no one dared act out against Mr. Tseng. Not until the leader began to alter his business methods. Baron’s adoption also began to shift his mindset into what one should truly value. He sought to bring an end to human trafficking, recognizing the value of every life. This was one of the many steps that Mr. Tseng began to take in the hopes of legalizing their operations. There was of course opposition, and while Mr. Tseng knows of the illegal activities that still occur, he works to distance his own involvement in them. Family became first and foremost important, and he would not do anything to jeapordize that. Baron’s support of this made him even better suited to fill the legacy of his father, and all they hoped to achieve together.
Tragedy
Just as Baron’s adoption, there were some who protested Mr. Tseng’s absolving of his own criminal activities. Some even deemed him unfit to lead, but none would challenge him or recklessly pose a threat when there was still so much support around him. Not unless he was vulnerable anyway. Such a time came when Mr. Tseng was to go on a business meeting, leaving the operations of his son to manage in his absence. Little did Baron know that this would be the last time he would see him, for his father went missing.
Devastation hit the Tseng family and -most- of the clans. But Baron was determined to carry on his father’s work. Protect his family and it’s legacy. There are still those who do not embrace Baron’s position, considering him an illegitimate heir and also are in disagreement of his father’s mission. They are just waiting for the time to strike so that the clan may be taken over by a new leader. Those loyal, continue to protect and defend the Tseng family with their unwavering support. Baron travels a great deal for his work, and it often lands him in various parts of the world.
