It's been sixteen days since Praimfaya. In those sixteen days Clarke worked tirelessly in Beccas lab on reproducing the nightblood solution, all the while regularly exchanging her blood with the blood of the beloved friend she kept in a coma in one of the test chambers, to keep her alive, to save her. The radiation had spiked even in the lab and without the chamber, she would probably die, not that ARS - acute radiation sickness - wasn't killing her as she worked. It was only the nightblood that was pumped into her. On day sixteen Clarke finally managed to reproduce the treatment she had been given. After sixteen days she could finally heal her friend.
All it took was for Clarke to wait and confirm, that, yes, the immunity to radiation had set in. It was easy. Just open the chamber a crack and voila, she healed. Now it was almost midnight, according to the clock in the lab. She held her friends hand as she did every night she had been working on saving her. Things had gone so terribly wrong. Leiana should have been on the rocket up to space, just like her. Leiana should have made it in time, but a terrible accident stopped it. A beam had fallen, had trapped her and so Clarke and Leiana were trapped in a desolate wasteland, probably, an uninhabitable planet, that might yet kill the both of them. At least now Leia had a chance. In that regard, it was somehow strange luck that Clarke, too, had remained on the ground against her will. As she felt the hand move, and her friend stir, Clarke smiled. "Hey there, sleepy head." She whispered. "Take it easy. You were...out of it for a while."

And while you are sitting indoors waiting for the storm to pass I will be outside dancing in the rain
❧ It was like a dream... like she was floating through nothingness. One moment she had been crying her eyes out, so certain that she would die and then she was in this dreamworld, and now her eyelids were fluttering open. Leiana stared around with blurred vision, her senses failing her. She didn't know where she was, couldn't remember how she had gotten here, didn't know her own name for a minute. And then the hand holding hers squeezed and her head lulled to the side in a lethargic movement. Her body was like lead, so heavy she couldn't move very much at all and her mind was a haze of confusion. She stared at the woman for a moment, her brows pulling together as she worked through that confusion.
"Clarke...?" Her voice was croaky, her throat impossibly dry. Leiana tried to sit up only to fall back down, her body not yet strong enough. She groaned and closer her eyes tight. The hand not being held raising to rub at her throbbing temple, to rid herself of the mounting headache bought about by the confusion. "I feel like I've come back from the dead..."

She was so very close to death, that she was sure she could have felt it, if it had been possible. This time her debatable title came in handy. As the commander of death, who was to say that she could not command death to stay away? because in some ways she could. She had trained to become a doctor after all and those, in a way could control death. Then there was the fact that she was a murderer on top of this, this in a way made her control death, too. Just coming to terms with that title was not easy. This time it was though. This time she had stopped death coming here, at the expense of her own health, a bit, but they both survived that was all she needed.
"You kind of have." Clarke said softly. She pushed her hair back and smiled, weakly because she had been sharing her blood with her and had felt the effects of radiation and the loss of viable blood dearly. But they were both alive and that was all that mattered. Clarke kissed her forehead. "I gave you nightblood after sharing my blood with you. You should eat a bit of broth and then sleep. You were out quite long, so... your body won't want to handle food just yet..."

❧ Leiana was not quite certain what to say or really how to feel in that moment. There was a part of her that felt uncomfortable, even quite disgusted, having someone else', blood in her veins. It felt like Mount Weather all over again. But the extent Clarke was willing to go to protect and save her friends was heartwarming.
There was a wave of adoration felt for the Commander of Death. Clarke's devotion to her friends was without compare, without fail. She had proven her loyalty at the drop ship, and then again at Mount Weather, and then again at the Conclave. Leiana had lost count of how many times she had saved them all, lost count of all the things she had done for them.
And there there was the knowledge that she was a nightblood now. Leiana would need to learn to live with that. But they were both safe and together. "Thank you." Leia said softly, her mouth in a gentle smile. Her movements were slow but she placed her hand atop of hers. "For everything."
